Well Manaan was the FP or Planet but the Wookie with that Droid head for Make shift Armor, which is something you can expect from a Wookie to ware. But i kinda am thinking the hint there with that walking carpet is?

Wookie is the Next Playable Character......... Just a Feeling is all, not saying it is, but just a feeling.

Well, that feeling is with 99% certainty wrong, as Wookies do not fit into the criteria for playable species (size, speaking basic, etc).

As to where he is, I think you cannot deduce that from the one picture. It seems like your relatively ordinary interior area.

Another vague article that really tells us nothing. Really don't care. If you want to get people hyped up for the game actually say something.

Now I do care about the armor the woman is wearing. Anyone know what it is and if there is an orange item version?

Yes, sadly their perception of things has always trump our enjoyment of things. There will be a lot of races we will never get as playable.

Edit: Don't know why spell check changed perseption into persecution instead of perception. Fixed that.

Because it would be a TON of work to change the cutscenes and storylines to allow that.

But apparantly nobody ever considerst that and just go "they won't let us have fun".

Having a wookiee as a playable race wouldn't just be difficult because of the fact that they don't speak basic.

Even if they had a translator droid strapped to their chest, they would still be taller than any playable character and thus all the cutscenes would have to be checked for camera angles and most of them would have to be altered.

Not to mention the romances that just wouldn't work (again, height issues here).

And that's a massive amount of work to do just to get one playable race in the game that most people probably wouldn't even play anyway.

I think that some races being unplayable and relegated to position of companions is just fine.

For example, I was filming all conversations with Bowdaar (Smuggler Wookie companion) yesterday, and after 3 minutes of listening to his constant growling I wanted nothing more than to shut him up. Playing a Wookie character would be even worse and absolutely not enjoyable. Same thing applies to other non-basic speaking characters.

You miss the point that they already have to take that into consideration to an extent because you do have Wookiee companions.

They flatout said in beta that the reason they didn't want to do Wookiees was because they didn't speak basic and because they didn't wear normal armor and they thought(decided) people want to customize armor more than they wanted to play Wookiees. It mess with their aesthetic sense so just like with no day/night cycles it wasn't going to happen.

Actually, they don't. Bowdaar is off-scene a lot, or part of his head is missing, etc. And remember, there are much more close-ups on PC face than on companions. That would be totally screwed up by having a character that is twice as tall...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that Bowdaar and my bt3 smuggler are the same height....so that shouldn't be an issue. And while it wouldn't be nearly as much as the customization we have on other characters, They'd (EA/BW) could make customizations for a wookiee like they do for companions now. Especially if all "playable" wookiee had a translator droid strapped to them too speak "basic" during cut scenes.

There was one wookiee who speak basic in EU that had a speech impediment, kind of would be peculiar that so thousands of wookiees would have that same speech impediment though.

Yeah but, it seems that no matter the species we play as they all know every alien language out there. Which we read the alien dialect any how. So if we are reading alien dialect then, if we are indeed "LETS SAY A WOOKIEE" then let us roar and growl, but we can read what our, wookiee self says as well.

That Wookie wioth that translator droid attached to him ... in the Young Jedi Knights series there's a Wookie having a similar translator droid attached to him ... So the idea isn't new ...

Doesn't mean it's old either.

And that would be Lowbacca.

Lowbacca has something similar to a 3P0 translator system strapped to his chest.

Yeah, but if something has happened once it doesn't mean it's a cliché.

That'd be like saying that the second death star was a cliché because there was one before that.

It's not correct to say that a wookie with a translator droid strapped to its chest is "cliché".

It would be fair to say that a sith with a red lightsaber is a "cliché" tho. Because it's been done so often (even tho there is an in-universe explanation as to why they favor red lightsaber crystals).

Hi folks! I just wanted to pop in and let you know that I do read all of your feedback, and apologize if yesterday’s blog felt repetitious or unnecessary for you. I’ve seen some posts and comments around the web over the last few months where folks didn’t seem to know we’d started a new ongoing story, didn’t know there were more than two conversations in the Tython & Korriban Flashpoints, didn’t know when to expect the next chapter, etc. Obviously I’m super enthusiastic about story in our game, so I leapt at the chance to make extra-sure everyone knows where to find the latest stuff. I’m definitely sorry if my zealousness frustrated more folks than it educated.

If anyone wants to register their displeasure with me in person, or talk about anything story-related, I’ll be at our Cantina Event in San Diego tomorrow – come down and give me an earful! Otherwise, I’ll go back to lurking here, as I always do. :hope_05:

Haha thanks for popping in again Boyd. I think most people are like me and like to read any yellow text, even if it's not super I informative for some people. Seems like you guys have been pretty busy past couple weeks and not much communaction that I've seen so I think it helps. :)

Ps could you reconfirm that wookie will not be a playable race?

Charles - as someone that's just come back after about a year away, I was very glad to see your blog about what's been happenning in the story while I;ve been away, so a huge 'Thank you" from me. I had no idea that this new story line even existed, so had no cause to go look for it. i will be sure to do so now!

The Wookiee and droid in the screenshot are new characters; we weren't trying to subtly imply playable Wookiees. Sorry for any confusion there. :)

Honestly this "Part I now, Part II later, and Part III even later is BORING. A bit of story and two flashpoints now, and then...wait. Horrible distribution. Better to release it all at once than bits and pieces now and more bits and pieces later. It might be different if each bit was a good length but the length of this bit is just 2 flashpoints and 5 minutes of dialogue. About an hour of content at most.

This, combined with the total lameness of the casino crap, SWTOR is absolutely boring right now.

My suggestion would be make the quest givers more visible for future story arcs. There's tonnes of flashpoint giving droids on the fleet and so a lot of people miss the addition of a small astromech.

I wasn't even aware that the introductory mission existed until I read Dulfy's guide.

Well, that explains why you're still subbed.
