  1. What I find more annoying ist that there is no overall weekly quest tied to the event that you can pick up through your Activity Finder to get transported to the event area.

This. I get the OP's frustration though. Imagine having to talk to 4 gree robots EVERY time you do the Gree event, being sent from one to another to listen to the same obnoxious monologue. Prior events spaced out the convos [if they had more than one to begin with] rather than forcing players to slog through them all at once. They should be optional bonus quests just like the rep quests, not something you NEED to do to progress the event.

  2. I think trixxie must be joking, because a sit-in is a really dumb way to protest in a game. I guarantee the devs won't see it, and the only thing you'll do is piss off your team.

If you want to make your voice heard, unsub and say why. Ideally, get a bunch of other players to unsub at the same time and have all of them give the same message. Pitch it to Kotaku or somesuch as BW's first patch since going on steam that completely alienates pvpers, I'm sure they'd eat that up. Do that, and you'd have the makings of a pretty good cooperative action.

Or you could just moan on the forum and be a brat inside matches.

  3. You have made your point spectacular clear this past week, and with your point of view (and poor attitude) being so utterly detrimental to mine, I see no reason to engage you in any further debate. Feel free to add me to ignore and I will you.

"poor attitude"? lol. Pot, meet kettle.

Ahahha... that is priceless. Getting banned for trying to end a terrible match lol. It will never happen in a million years. They would need a pattern of you deliberately queueing to harass the same group of players. Believe me I know, I have used these tactics on premades before.

I'm against the deserter lockout but it does have the advantage of forcing toxic pvpers to out themselves.

  4. - Put a eff ton more of them on Nar Shaddaa.

    - Add an instanced VIP room that has one so people can reset the phase if it gets broken and can not have to worry about a line.

    - Create a decoration of it that we can put in our strongholds to use. Probably the most difficult for you to do, but ultimately would be the best solution.

These are all good ideas. BW should have known this would happen and taken steps to do one of these.

  5. I was okay, even supportive of it when I first heard about it. I hate people leaving the moment things start to go badly - they may think it's not bad behavior to ditch, but it is. But the more I see reactions here, the more I think BW is underestimating player masochism. If people aren't allowed to leave, they'll sabotage their team - we've already had players admit that is their intent.

As others have said, this should only be introduced in conjunction with giving some choice to picking matches, not piecemeal. My hope is that we'll have short-term instability caused by a minority of toxic players, and everyone will gradually grow into the new paradigm, but it will be a bumpy process getting there.

  6. All stronghold spawn points are currently broken. The only way to set a spawn point is to activate the terminal with the character that initially purchased the stronghold. Then, all other characters that travel to that stronghold will load at whatever point the purchaser set unless it is that character's first visit to that stronghold (they get the cutscene upon first visit) then they will load at the main entrance. Thereafter they will load at whatever spawn point the purchaser has set.

huh, I didn't know that. I'm not sure how accurate that is tbh. Yavin IV doesn't work that way, for instance.

  7. But no, you won't provide any details. You have small, isolated, non-representative experiences and apply them to all of ranked. Just because you had bad experiences playing ranked (and we can reasonably speculate why that is), has nothing to do with ranked as a game mode. It's a pretty easy concept to grasp.

An isolated non representative experience that appears to be extremely common. I'm not interested in providing details to someone who from the start has insisted everyone else but him is lying because 'forum groupthink'. I don't owe you ****. Your victim blaming is again, very typical of ranked. Why did he have a bad experience? wink wink nudge nudge He's a bad. Or he hates competition, or whatever BS, cliched excuse you have to justify your compatriot's garbage behavior.

A lot of people bash pug FPs, but no one, or very few people, say that pugs are toxic BY DEFAULT.

  8. Sigh, here we go again... please just agree to disagree here. I'm not going to give my opinion because there's like zero point.

    ok, agree to disagree.

Alex, I don't have a "personal vendetta" against ranked, I've played it and I was harrassed and bullied every time. I'm not inclined to share details about that with someone who literally from the getgo has insisted that everyone except himself is deliberately lying about ranked being toxic. You represent your community very accurately.

Fact is that I don't have to say another word on the subject, because no one needs me to point out that ranked is a dumpster fire, and the best justice I can think of for your dismissal of people's horrible experiences is that ranked will die a slow, arduous, well deserved death and you all will blame everyone else for it except yourselves, but it'll still be dead. On second thought I guess that IS a personal vendetta, but i have ample justification for it.

  9. I wonder what you think my motivations are. Do you think I'm secretly a toxic bully trying to lure people into ranked? Because I don't fit into the ranked haters groupthink. I have fun playing ranked, and I play it almost daily. And there are plenty of players just like me in ranked. But if what you say about ranked were remotely true, that wouldn't be possible.

Again, you guys have all done a commendable job of showcasing the disinformation and nonsense spewed about ranked on these forums by players that don't play ranked. Thank you for that.

Dude, you have this way of acting like you don't belong with the "groupthink uninformed elitists" on the forum, but I think you have the drama queen and offended pride mentality down - you fit in QUITE well with us. "The lone voice bravely whistleblowing but he still loves the game" really sells it.

Anyway, I think it's a bit rich to expect people to take your word when you immediately dismiss or poke holes in anyone else's experiences with ranked if they aren't as positive as yours. idk you, but you've admitted that your whole purpose here is to shill propaganda for ranked, so no, I don't really trust your motivations.

imo, admitting that ranked is toxic and it's not just "a few bad apples", and it's not just people on the forum who don't play ranked and faint at competition would be helpful to figuring out what to do about it. But see, now I know that Lhance has already tried this convo with you and I gotta say - if it was just me, meh I rub a lot of people the wrong way, but if you can't get along with Lhancelot...then yeah, you're toxic.

  10. Glad to hear it and always appreciate it even though I've yet to actually have any bug that breaks the game for me in the past 9 years lol sometimes the bugs I read about baffle me but maybe it's all about computer specs/ISP.

I mean, if you haven't experienced the nightlife bugs it's because you haven't been playing nightlife, or you only play at low pop times. No one can use the emperor coins unless you happen to login to a server that just depopulated. No one imp-side can finish the NS counterfeit tokens missions, again except same. So no, nothing to do with computer specs. These bugs aren't game breaking but they did break the event.

Nice to see you guys fixing bugs so fast!

It took them two weeks. Maybe that's fast in comparison to bugs that have been around since 2012, but it's pretty drat slow for a time limited event imo. Yes, they're extending it but you gotta wonder how many non-forum players know that.

  11. With that said, I just will lurk and support others for now on I am done putting effort into suggestions, especially when it comes to ranked. I only get attacked by ranked players when I point out how dumb the entire system of ranked PVP is on this game it's just illogical how they score it, and how they manage the punishments, and everything else. Ranked is abysmal now. Period. It could only get better if they started from scratch tbh. :D

You're smarter than I am, Lhance. Or at least you've had enough of these convos in the past to know better than to get into them.

  12. When I look at the achievements window, under the Location -> Hoth -> Beasts section I see:

    • 2 achievements for Tauntauns (25, and 100) for 10 points together
    • 3 for Wampas (25, 100, 500) for 40 points together
    • 4 for Skels, Ice Trompers, and White Fangs (25, 100, 250, 1000) for 45 points together

That totals to 95 points and matches the maximum of 95 shown in the middle column of the window; mine says:

    Beasts

    95/95

Yeah, I can't find it either, just saying what I heard. I can't find any word about it googling either.

  13. Most of the other ranked players consider the forums too much of a joke to bother with.

I never said that people who find ranked toxic are bad. I said people who find ranked too toxic probably don't belong in ranked. The reason they don't belong in ranked is because they can't handle basic, run-of-the-mill competitive online game "toxicity," not necessarily because they're "bad."

And I think it's worthwhile to counter the erroneous perception that ranked is so awful. At least whoever happens to read this can get a firsthand account from me, rather than only seeing posts from people that don't play ranked.

Yeah, I sub once a year so I'm pretty sure I don't speak for the forum, particularly the pvp one, and it's pretty lulzy that you keep trying to pigeonhole me into the uninformed forum elitist role. These other two posters are regulars, I'm not. Keep swinging, bro.

As I've said repeatedly, I've played Ranked. Up until about six months ago I gave it a shot every time I resubbed. So your rhetoric that anyone who criticizes it hasn't played it is false. I tried it a few times, over long intervals, and it was a snakepit every time. That's a consistent experience you can't say about regs, or GSF or raiding. And if you knew me from outside the pvp forum you'd know how silly it is to argue that I am just too much of a sensitive snowflake to appreciate ranked.

Regular pvp is competitive, and it can be occasionally toxic too, but it's got nothing on Ranked. The degree of harassment they put on anyone they *think* might lower their rating is unreal and it's not just a few bad apples. Lastly, I don't GAF how much you complain about it in-game, you're defending it now and using the same tired old cliches the worst offenders use. Yes, I caught that you're trying to put a positive spin on ranked so the hypothetical lurker will give it a shot, and how about let's not do that? Let's not minimize the awful because your friends are rightly having trouble filling queues.

When we reach the point in the convo where the other guy admits he's only posting to appeal to the entirely hypothetical fence-sitting lurker who's ready to have their mind changed by the strength of the posts, it's time to call it.

  14. The only people that play ranked and feel ranked is too "toxic" for them probably don't belong in ranked in the first place, or any online competitive game for that matter.

    .

OK, so what does this actually mean except "git gud"? You've literally replicated the arguments I cited in my post: 1) ranked players blame all the bad press on the forum, and 2) anyone who plays ranked and thinks it's toxic is a bad and hates competition lolwut?

As I say, this is how ranked players respond to criticism: deflection and ad hominems. Which kinda proves the whole "toxicity" thing. And no, it's not just the forum or "just" fleet chat, I've been playing since 2.0 bro, I've been around, experienced everything in this game and ranked is by far the worst - and what's more, everyone knows it...except oblivious ranked players who can't understand why no one wants to play with them.

  15. There are many near-impossible achievements. The 10,000 scores are unbelievably out-of-touch with the reality of the game. Others:

    • Defeat X # of players on planet Y: With PvP instances being so barren, and an individual duel taking so long, these are all essentially impossible and should be forked out as a sub-category of "Feats of Strength"
    • Guard and turret achievements that cannot be done solo on Yavin IV and so on
    • Achievements (like Possessions under Legacy) that require paying real-world money to get cartel market items
    • Then there are the gentle Bormu

My guild occasionally puts together events to kill x number of players when it was tied to conquest. idk if that's still the case. That's what you need to do for that one though; find a guild and make it a regular thing. it's not cheating for one guy to let himself be repeatedly killed and respawn.

I haven't done most of the turret / guard ones. Again, need a guild doing that, and it used to be tied to conquest.

Haven't done much possessions. I'm okay writing those off.

I did the bormu one though. That's actually a lot easier than the Quesh cheevo because they're all in one place, respawn quickly and die easily. I've done most of the beast cheevos (Makeb stands out as particularly onerous), working on Onderon rn. I've heard that Hoth has a hidden achievement to kill 1000 tauntauns. idk if thats true though, someone told me in-game.

  16. I've been saying this for years, but some of them still seem to be convinced that ranked is a broken, unfun, toxic cesspool filled with degenerates. There's no convincing them otherwise even though they don't actually play ranked.

Because it is. And yes I've played it, I've given it plenty of chances and I'm done giving it any more. The quoted attitude is reflected in this thread - the "cesspool" is ranked players who think they're too good to play objectives, who think everyone in regs is an r-word and then who wonder why no one wants to queue with them.

Aside from nightmare raiders, ranked is universally recognized in this game as the most toxic playing atmosphere. It's lulzy, Trump-level cognitive dissonance to blame that on the forum. The last time I critiqued Ranked here I was told to "git gud" which is always the ranked player's answer to accusations of toxicity: everyone complaining about them is a bad.

How people can get this selfish, and even worse, begin to enjoy doing this to other people really is beyond me. It's childish, so I assume it has to be bratty children. Adults who have developed some empathy and have formed solid consciences typically don't behave this way, even when living in the cloak of internet anonymity.

lol no. I mean maybe but no. The dregs of the internet are adults.

  17. Actually I had my opinion made up, I just had nothing to really explain it until I read what others had to say about the developmental issues of SWTOR etc.

I made my mind up years ago just by the frustrations I felt around 3.0 and onward. We had legitimate complaints and hundreds of passionate players voicing their unhappiness with game design changes across the forums only to have community management literally ignore everyone and everything for months or even longer.

That's when I started to think BW was incompetently ran especially whatever part of their company controlled their communications and forums sections, it was awful then as it is still awful now.

TBH, I really peeled myself off the game around the time I read through Jeff Nyman's posts and his personal blog, reading his stuff only added pieces to the SWTOR development mess that was a puzzle in my mind.

For me that made it easier to recognize the game would never get better so it was best to not put so much emotion into it. I found those insider tidbits to be very liberating and am happy that Nyman and others shared their perspectives.

True but before that you would have had no way to know that the screwup was on BW, not an EA problem. Everyday there are threads pronouncing doom and gloom on this game....because of EA. And how great this game would be if BW had 100% control. Nyman was the one who pointed out [i can't think of specific examples rn] that the dumb fumbles in this game were deliberately designed that way by BW.

Schmidt's response to PVP was pretty great, but you have to wonder why. Is he new? Is this a new policy? Or is it just the same old policy of "write one thing on the forum that implies communication and never come back." Alternatively maybe it's just a sign of how bad Musco is at his job. The forum should be getting the same level of communication for pvp and pve, and should have been getting it for years, and we haven't and won't. Why? Nyman's posts never addressed that reluctance to comment iirc.

  18. I

What an incredibly dumb statement. You really don't realize that ranked players have been playing regs for years. They learned, practiced, and got to the skill level that they are at by doing objs in regs. Most ranked players don't do objs anymore because there is literally 0 competition.

Ah, I see. You're too good to play objectives.

lol this is some next level elitism I gotta say.

  19. TL;DR

I'd have np if EA decided to take more control over this game I think it needs better management.

I didn't realize it until now but it's interesting the way that insider source's version of events has shifted us into the narrative that EA is a neutral or positive element and BW is largely the incompetent screwup. Not saying you're wrong but...it echoes Kaliyo's line: "Never thought i'd end up working for a bunch of dictators." (also WHERE are all the swtor memes!?)

  20. They won't do either. if they remove the deserter debuff, people will just abuse the system more. Not saying it's a great system, but till something better comes along it's all we have.

they'll never get rid of hutt ball, look how long it took for them to admit there was something wrong with the two new maps, which they've finally pulled, until fixed, they will be back though. Huttball is someones baby, and they are protectng it like a mother hen, we'll never get an option to disable it, even if it kills PvP.

lolwut. They're implementing deserter debuff in the next patch. It's not in place yet for regs and pretty sure he's not talking about the one in ranked.

They are lowering the chance to get huttball by setting up the queue by match type, so huttball is only as likely to pop as any of the other types, but not more likely.

  21. There is more to it than that. You can’t blame them for being too lazy to learn OPG when they won’t even play the simplest objective maps properly or respond to inc calls etc in maps like Nova Coast or Civil War.

The majority of the population in regs don’t care is they win or lose because there has been this concerted effort by the ranked community over the years to make regs not matter. So you can not really blame those “lazy people” for not caring when the ranked community tells us over and over on the forums and in matches that regs don’t count.

The problem is the attitude towards objective pvp. If we still had ranked objective pvp, we wouldn’t have this issue that trying to play objectives doesn’t matter. But because we don’t, the ranked crowd come into regs and farm numbers and pass on that bad attitude or behaviour to non ranked players who wrongly think the ranked guys are right.

It’s why we has such bad skill levels in regs and why there aren’t enough people to refill the numbers in ranked because they have no good role models to learn from. And if someone is trying to learn and asks questions, they get told to form numbers or people trying to help them get derided for playing the objectives,

Even I hate OPG and I know quiet well how to play it and I’m no objective noob who doesn’t understand tactics or strategy.

My sole reason for hating the map is no one plays properly, which is worse than them not playing other objective maps properly because OPG is 90% objectives and tactics. Those that win OPG by just death matching only win if the teams are heavily unbalanced in their favour. Otherwise you shouldn’t win OPG by death matching.

It’s another reason why I’ve come to dislike Hutt ball so much after it used to be my favourite. People just don’t care to play properly, so I don’t want to stay.

100% this. I just saw a post in another thread by a self-identified ranked player insisting that playing like it's death matches in regs is always equally as useful or more useful than playing objectives. What a lulzy argument, and one you'd expect from elitists who don't GAF about regs anyway because "there's no reward." They don't know how to play objectives properly so they'll keep doing what they do in ranked and insisting that they're the best players on the team because of high kill count. If we lose the node or never grab the ball, it doesn't matter how many you kill!

And just on this whole "no reward" thing. I've tried Ranked a few times over the years and there is NO reward worth playing it on a regular basis. Regs is fun and now that they've increased CQ for it, it's viable for conquest again. Ideally, it should be like CXP was where you'd win a match and gain several levels but ultimately, I don't need a bunch of stuff to play competently and NOT be a poisonous brat to my team.
