  1. I don't want to go into an argument on whether the rewards are worth it, that can be done elsewhere.

    [snip]

I believe those two changes will vastly improve the event and would be a great QoL.

I agree. Anything to reduce the monotony or speed up the process would be good. It does do a good job of simulating the tedium of an actual casino, however. This year your character can even get alcohol poisoning!

  2. Okay, I have been playing SWTOR for about 1 1/2 to 2 years. I don't comment on the forums very often, but I have responded to a few threads and created one or two. I have noticed that a few players like to engage in a couple of behaviors that are, well, frankly, rude.

Just to give a couple of examples, if I see someone that had been waiting for an objective to respawn and they have been there longer than I have I wait and let them do the objective first. I try not to steal objectives out from under other players while they are fighting battles. To me this is about courtesy and fair play.

Now I understand that some players are always going to behave this way and this is nothing new on SWTOR. However, for the past couple of days, I have seen a higher level of this type of behavior than usual on the Star Forge Server. I may be wrong, but the timing seems to coincide with SWTOR's new availability on Steam. Is it just a fluke that I have been running into more rude players than usual or have other people been noticing the same thing?

At first I thought you were talking about forum pvp.

I was wondering how long it would take before Steam players went from being the game's saviors [Queue to login? omg!] to the hated underclass who are all rude thieves. A similar thing happened with F2Pers. Not long at all, as it happens.

Objective ninjas have been a thing since forever. If I were to set a date when the rate substantially increased from former levels, it would be after the insta-70 tokens came out. Previously you only saw ninjas on low level planets, Act 1 and under. The long leveling process weeded out anti-social behaviors. Now you see them everywhere, but especially events, dailies and heroics.

  3. More like people in this thread claiming

    When we have issues.

Speaking of having issues, did you think you were being subtle by editing screaming_ziva's post when you quoted her? It's literally the previous post, not hard to compare the two.

BW is terrible at communication no question but that right there is a real dick move.

  4. I pop a 4v4 and I actually think about it, until I see three ops/scoundrels (the most overpowered, non-canon class out there... this month)

I literally lol'd. Now I want to see a thread where pvpers demand that classes get nerfed because they aren't "canon".

  5. I can't speak for others but I do at least try to help people in need IRL, unfortunately I don't always have the money for it but whenever I have something extra I'm more than willing to give. And first world problems definitely don't apply to me, more like third world problems.

Dude, unlike all the other "big personalities" in this thread, I actually like and respect your pov. So, with that being said...how do you miss the fact that this is a troll thread? That it was clearly designed to be a troll thread from the getgo? Does it make any sense to you that we're having this argument now, instead of after they do the thing? The only reason to talk about it now is to start a fight.

Also, are we really taking seriously that BW will be doing any sweeping graphical changes? They can't even fix emp slots without requiring three patches. If we have anything to complain about it over this in the future, it will be that none of us can play because they broke the drat game, not that only some of us can play. And not coincidentally, OP made a thread about that exact point:

  6. The virtue signalling in this forum is so lulzy. iirc we have a forum bingo / drinking game, and we ought to add "selfish" and "empathy" to the squares.

Just...step back for a second and imagine how you look from a disinterested pov: We're on a videogame forum and you're judging each other for perceived character flaws based on scant evidence compiled from...conversations around videogames.

We're not allowed to discuss politics here but I have to wonder how many people who bemoan lack of player empathy GAF about actual human suffering, not just their petty first world problems. I tend to assume that the more that x person drones on about character flaws on the forum, the less involved they are with irl stuff, which is why they lack perspective.

  7. "healing in MMOs" lol.

Dude I've healed at least through extreme trial content in FFXIV for years. its not the job I do best, but I know how healing in MMOs works.

in SWTOR healing is far far weaker before level cap than any other game I've played which has healers.

Dude it's a funny video but by all means please tell me all about your e-peen

  8. 1.....count it with me now. ONNNNNNEEEE win. Get over it.

A great many problems on this forum could be solved if players just sucked it up instead of dwelling on the hyperbolic agony caused by x change.

And to be clear, I don't like the change either, especially coupled with the deserter lockout. Yes 1 win [for the daily] but it might take a long time for that to happen. I can pretty much forget about doing the weekly from here-on out. I think these changes will negatively impact population and player attitudes, certainly my interest in pvping...but I'm still a ways out from invoking dread torment to befall the game devs, lol.

  9. I remember I've read something years ago one guy from Austin said that it's a hacked together spaghetti code and even modifying one little thing can cause havoc in other areas. Also many veterans left the company who had knowledge about the engine, furthermore Austin got SW:ToR like here you go fellas, from now on You support this. Not really any documentation or training, have fun guyz.

I tried to find the source, but did not have any luck. Maybe it was just a dream.

If BioWare is anything like my company, then the aces go to a profitable new project while you put the juniors and less skillful seniors to support previous projects. Hope this is not the case at BW. Also hope none of swtor devs read this and get confidence issues :D

Maybe Jeff Nyman. Does anyone remember the link to Nyman's blog or his forum username?

  10. Yeah. Maybe after awhile these losers who quit matches because their egos can't handle a loss will quit the game altogether. That would clean it up, and improve the quality of the matches.

This happens thanks to anonymity. I mean no one would go enter a basketball game at the gym, then just start sitting on the hardwood refusing to play because the other team had far better players. Imagine how dumb and pathetic a person looks doing this! Yet, here on the internet this childish, selfish, pathetic behavior is determined by individuals to be a proper reaction?

That's what is wrong with the world today, living on the internet has made people more comfortable being disrespectful and nasty to others because there simply are no repercussions for them to face. This isn't anything new to us, we all see people behave this way on games, it's ironic because these players who behave this way are a big part of the problem but they lack personal self awareness to understand that.

I think anonymity is part of it, but I don't like the direction of these arguments because a) complaining about anonymity on the internet implies that is something we should "fix" whereas anonymity IS the fix, and b) These complaints about the internet tend to minimize the fact that these behaviors occur irl too, they just aren't directly analogous. It's a slippery slope and I'm very wary of arguments that point to some inherent problem with internet privacy.

  11. Feel free to make some grandiose display of holding your account hostage if you want (it doesn't work), but please don't penalize the rest of us who want the game to advance by convincing EA that these updates should not occur.

Why whatever do you mean? All we have to do is put pressure on BW by writing lots of unhappy forum posts and they will certainly do what we say. My aunt Karen swears by it. :rak_01:

And please don't ask that EA subsequently spend the rest of the year or however long developing some buggy two-tier system to support the graphical haves versus have-nots.

Don't you have any empathy for your fellow players? Just because your system is fine does not give you the right to preemptively complain about other people complaining. How can you be so callous? Now me I would never make a thread like this because I am compassionate to the plight of others! Aha, but wait you're complaining about complaining which therefore (somehow) invalidates your argument! :rak_04:

  12. It's not about empathy [that word gets overused on here] but it is about good sportsmanship. I put a wiki link there cause some of you clearly have never heard the term before lol.

Someone mentioned GTA:O's Bad Sport system and the more I read about it , I like and wish our system was similar. Wanna quit matches at the first sign of trouble? Wanna loudly complain in chat that the "bads need to lrn2play and never q again'? Wanna camp and do nothing or number farm? Great, no lockout, but y'all can go in your own separate queue, quarantined from the rest of the pvp population. Maybe you'll like that - GTA reports some players who like the atmosphere of the BS group. But probably it would suck, and you only get put back into regs for playing well and, you know, not being anti-social.

  13. Aren't those a different kind of boxes though?

Exactly. OP is clearly talking about the kotfe loot boxes, which only begin to appear from level 61 onward.

Sort of. Up to level 60 you get fixed-stats blue ("MK-2") gear that's relevant for your character's "true" level. From 61 to 65 you get two locked Alliance crates *instead*, whose type depends on the specific H2. From 66 on, you get one locked Alliance crate, but the same type you got two of at 61-65.

I may have the boundaries wrong, particularly the 60/61, which might be 59/60.

That doesn't square with my experience. You get two crates, depending on the heroic, from 61 onward. If you're only getting one, something's wrong on your end.

  14. what really bothers me is having to play maps I don't really want to ie 4v4 arenas

they've previously said that they only do arenas when the queue pop is low. Meaning that there would never be a choice between 8v8 map and arenas, it's arenas or you don't pop.

I’m probably going to get stressed IRL due to being forced to stay there...

I wish my life was so easy that "being stressed that I can't quit a pvp match" was even remotely a concern.

And nothing you do will matter, because 1 person can't carry the whole match (except in extremely rare cases when they play a specific class, or a specific warzone and some specific thing happens and all of it is too extremely rare to be relied upon not to mention the enemy team can undo whatever is it you did)

This is the kind of matches I am talking about here, that are the one I leave because there is no point fighting unless you enjoy fighting for the sake of fighting.

In my experience, the people who leave matches midway through weren't the best players, frequently the opposite. The problem with the lockout isn't so much that good players will be forced to play with bad ones [oh the agony! the next 8-10 mins will be true torture!] but that teams will be stuck with would-be quitters who will spend the match simmering in discontent instead of playing the drat game.
