New Character Select Perspective

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the characters all appear bottom-heavy because of the stretching toward the edges of the screen, same as with the ship interior. The field-of-view is what's different, which causes that effect. What needs to change is the camera distance from the character. In other words, they would actually have to change something more than just a variable to get this to look right, so they probably won't bother. In some cases, the ship interior would also have to be changed, otherwise the camera would be inside a ship wall.

Hey I didnt read past the first page of the thread but I have an idea that would be really cool I think...so forgive me Im typing really quick and if someone already suggested this my apologies. I'm not going to start saying I thought of it first..

As well as keeping the zoomed out perspective and being able to rotate your character - have it where when you click on a character he draws his weapon(s) too. So whichever character is selected will be posed in action stance or whatever...gunslinger with his pistols out, sentinel with both saber drawn, sorceror with his saber drawn etc etc..

Pass THAT on to the Devs please Tait? :D

When i 1st logged in the character select showed the zoomed out look, but i dont think i care for it b/c it looked like my ship was breaking apart (you could see stars around the area that you see in normal view - I should've taken a screen shot :( ) I clicked on a different toon to see how it looks & it reset to normal view & now everyone is back to normal view.

Here are screenshots of all 8 classes in the zoomed-out format for character select, along with my opinion about how good the zoomed-out perspective looks.

Agent: http://imgur.com/B5VYBaC (looks amazing)

Inquisitor: http://imgur.com/IlVwW2P (missing roof section)

Warrior: http://imgur.com/bntnxZH (looks great)

BH: http://imgur.com/hMO8NFy (looks amazing)

Consular: http://imgur.com/3dXdfPt (looks OK)

Knight: http://imgur.com/mdVLZcQ (looks amazing)

Smuggler: http://imgur.com/OrVT5dr (looks great)

Trooper: http://imgur.com/O0sbY7R (looks amazing)

Only the Inquisitor needs work due to the missing roof section.

Your characters aren't that big on wearing clothes are they?

It makes for great character screenshots since the camera angles in game really suck for that...

But if you have any kind of image editing software you can edit out the exess interior to make some really nice pictures.

Warrior

Inquisitor

Agent

Bounty Hunter

Knight

Consular

Trooper

Smuggler

(If they put in a option like some suggested to let you zoom in and out as you wanted I would be ecstatic, especially if I could get my feet in the shots as well)

I don't know if anyone else has posted this but a minor "bug" with the new perspective is that customized dye selections for different armor parts aren't being shown. It seems like what's appearing is the unified colors version of the character's armor. I know, very minor point for something that may or may be removed anyway but regardless, I am also in favor of the "bugged" view.

Dunno about you, but at least on my Smuggler, his dyes are showing right.

Also... gotta say this makes for a pretty boss angle for my Warrior...

This was a bug in the old version as well. Everything on my sniper is set to be matched to his chest piece except his head piece. In game it is correct, but when I log out, his head piece always shows the dye matched version.
