I think I have the worst luck sometimes. at least when it comes to hypercrates. bought 7 and no walker, no raptor, 2 crystals. I did get most of the armors and 4 vectrons. I had better luck in the casino! LOL

7 hypercrates? And we all wonder why the CM gets updated every month when we haven't had a new op or non tactical FP since last year.

Bless you, you're keeping the doors open, but it is a shame that $350 can't be used to just fund class story expansion. I'd much prefer to just pay for that.

A few observations after opening 6 hypercrates of Club Vertica pack.

The Marsh Raptor mount was hard to find, although eventually I managed to grab two of them. The ST-7 Recon Walker seemed to be nowhere in sight when I opened my six hypercrates. Finally I decided to buy 3 final packs and then purchase the walker from the GTN. In one of these three packs I found a walker, which at this point was unexpected.

What surprised me most though was that I found zero crystals, and from previous comments in this thread I am leaning towards thinking that the rarity of the crystals is completely off. Not that I care much for yellow crystals, but they shouldn't be more rare than a walker mount.

As already have been mentioned, the armor set triplets seem to drop normally. I got plenty of both lower, supplementary and upper armor pieces. A few extra of the lower, although that is to be expected. These triplet armor sets were all unlockable for 60 cc each.

Unlock cost for legacy:

  • ST-7 Recon Walker: 600 cc
  • Marsh Raptor: 600 cc
  • Vectron JM-13 Torrens: 360 cc
  • Model FT-2 Quell: 240 cc
  • Model Sledgehammer: 240 cc
  • Rohlan Dyre's set: 600 cc
  • Temple Guardian set: 600 cc
  • Mandalorian Clansman’s Armor Set (Triplet boxes): 60 cc
  • Agile Reconnaissance’s Armor Set (Triplet boxes): 60 cc
  • Unbreakable Veteran’s Armor Set (Triplet boxes): 60 cc
  • Etched Dueler’s Lightsaber: 240 cc

Stop buying hypercrates. Don't support the way the Cartel Market is going, as it's getting worse and worse. I was a huge spender until Eric's response on "rarity" and though how insane it is to spend money on hypercrates that don't even really give you what you're spending real money for.

They are preying on you and taking advantage of you.

Its up to the individual to decide whether or not they wish to buy any packs at all, personally I find the game more enjoyable when I can kit my characters in whatever clothes I like and yes, while eventually you will be able to buy these off GTN for some of the prices on the more popular items are ridiculous and I can never afford them as I don't do daily's or weeklys since I am quite frankly confused with all the end game stuff (I might have to ask my guild for a little advice on that front).

I used to be a believer in the crates and packs. Bought a few crates with money and a few with credits. Since the Bantha crate and the Rancor crate though i have felt ripped off so I have stopped participating. I just haven't felt like I have been getting any good items from the crates. Do i expect the best mount, no, but I do expect that I will get some of the special stuff i want like color crystals or even the secondary awesome rare mount like orobird.

Also don't call this entitled. I am not saying that I deserved it, but for my money, when I spend 50$ I do expect an awesome mount most of the time to make it WORTH it for my money. Thus me not buying the crates anymore. The term entitled is being thrown around way too much these days.

I would agree with you if this pack had turned out to be like tha last one.

But it didn't.

They tried to mess with the rarity and it backfired.

Now it's back to the way it was before (with the colour crystals being the strange exception here) and I'm fine with that.

I'll support a company that learns from its mistakes.

The Color Crystals are definitely way off. Very few people I've talked to have gotten them. The Pink Magenta crystals from the last pack dropped at a far higher rate. They are consistently at 400K or so on the GTN, as they have been since the pack first dropped. These Yellow Cores are next to non-existent. Seems a strange to vary the rarity of seemingly random items from pack to pack, but it is what it is.

So far I've managed to scoop up the complete Temple Guardian, Dyre, and Muur sets--for somewhere less than 2 mil of GTN. The number of pieces being posted reflects that overall the drop rates are much better. There were four pages of the Guardian Helm last I looked, and people aren't really buying with the artificially high price people are trying to set.

The walker thus far is the super rare of super rares. It seems to be dropping so poorly that people are opening up more than the number of packs they usually would. Their are hardly any to be found to buy unopened. I find the cell shading look it has a little off, so no rush to buy one. If they stay at 14+ mil as they are now, or even much over 4 or 5 I'll just pass.

Lastly, I'm pretty disappointed with the new Vectron. The previews made it seem like it would be matte black with the exception of the piping. It's chromed out just like the event speeder, and only different because it lacks the wood grain paneling. Glad I got it as cheaply as I did or it would have been even more of a waste.

Opened two vertica hyper creates and got a lot of armor sets particularly the ones based on rakata looks,

got the recharge, all the emotes and pets and all the mounts except the raptor and walker also didn't not get a single core yellow crystal of any type which i was very surprised about given that i got nearly a dozen of the pink magenta ones of all types from 2 star cluster hyper creates.

on the gtn in jedi covenant there's only 2 pages of core yellow crystal with only 3 or 4 of each type, also only 3 raptors and 3 walkers so clearly the drop rate is way down for these items as compared with star cluster,

week after release there was many pages of pink magenta crystals and there was 2 pages of the orobird's an nearly 2 pages of the rancor

Guildie and I opened 2 hyper crates of the Star Cluster and neither of us got anything worth anything. Not to mention about 60+ packs alone of the Star Cluster and nothing worthwhile. What is with the terrible RNG that I have?

You're not spending $50 on a mount. You are spending $50 on a gamble and nothing but a gamble.

Thinking that you deserved ANY kind of mount for that $50 IS a false sense of entitlement.

Would you go to the casino and put $50 on red and then complain when you didn't win? If you do, let me know how the casino handles it.

Yo do have the same option with the packs that you do at a casino. If you are not happy, then don't spend your money. If you choose to spend your money and take the gamble, then don't complain when that gamble does not pay off the way you want.

there is a difference. Your odds increase as you gamble. However with the these 2 packs that wasn't the case for a lot of people. On my server there are only 4 walkers on the gtn. I have only seen 1 person with a walker at all. Now unless everyone that got one is holding on to it, those are some serious flawed odds.

I know people that spent 200-500 dollars on crates to get no crystals or a walker. Now unless you are a high ends gambler, you can walkout a casino breaking even spending that much.

One thing that I think BioWare might be missing on this new move is that people don't seem to be buying more hypercrates to get the walkers.

They are buying just as many hypercrates as they usually do (judging by the number of items up on sale on the GTN) but just not getting the cool stuff, resulting in the walker (for example) just being very rare and hardly seen.

Which seems like a waste of effort since it's a completely new model that someone spent time and effort on to make. And now it will hardly ever be seen.

I'm sure their metrics will show that there wasn't much of an increase in sales despite the changed drop rates and they'll go back to the old ones (or at least near them), but they won't change the drop rates in these packs and that'll cause the mount(s) to be extremely rare and almost never seen in the future too.

Poor move on their part I'd say.

4 sounds pretty much. With last pack there was 2-3 banthas for sale usually. Point of super rare mounts is that they are rare

There were 8 or so banthas for sale on my server when the pack was new. They were rare, but not THAT rare.

And you would see people riding them all over fleet.

I still haven't seen a single walker anywhere.

The walker definitely seems either a bit more rare than other mounts have been (or people are just holding onto them more). On Pot5 there hasn't been more than one at a time up on the GTN, and the prices so far have been 22-28 million. I've seen 4 or 5 around the republic fleet, and a couple on the imperial side. The dinosaur mount is a little less rare with 3-5 on the GTN at a time (though I've only seen one person riding one).

With the rancors there have consistently been about 4-8 on the GTN at a time, with prices ranging from 8 to 15 million or so (with 8 being about where they sell). Bantha rarity seemed about the same as the rancors really...

Having said that, I can't complain - I've purchased about 45-50 Club Vertica packs (off the GTN - I have way more credits than cash lol), and got a walker, 2 droid mounts, 2 vectrons, and a full temple guardian set (and the emotes, pets, weapons and lots of other armor).

I probably bought somewhere near 80 Star Cluster packs and got an orobird, corellian stardrive stealth and 2 rancors and a few of the rare armor bits (and of course all the misc stuff - which is where the profit is made if you hold onto it long enough). Overall that's about what my expectations are from past experience with rare items in previous packs.

I did get only one of the yellow core crystals in my 45-50 Vertica packs, which does seem more on the rare side than usual, but that's fine with me because more rare = higher selling price - and I prefer my hot orange and lime green crystals and planned to sell any yellows anyway.

As Krieg would say.. Salt the Wound!!...(sorry)

I only buy packs from the GTN for coinage, as I have loot en masse from dailies..

First time I'd seen a Vertica Nightlife pack for sale - 190k at that?

Bought 1 - I have a recon walker sitting in my inventory. (mind you when I go to buy some packs I usually get 5, and call it there - 1 mil or so and that's all I'll burn on them at a time)

Not that I need more dough, but it seems they are selling for 25-30mil on The Ebon Hawke..

However - any thoughts on how many more 'walker' mounts we will see and if this 'rarity' will really last?

I mean Rancors.. PVP folks lost their minds [insert Joker Meme pic here] when they finally got theirs (rightfully so). What was it, 2 weeks later and they were dropping in Cartel packs?

I don't know about that. I myself bought a few packs(much more than my usual zero), hoping for the walker, and I'm sure I wasn't alone.

Also there's a "buy a walker for real money" strategy to consider. Currently - and until ~15 of August - every player, no matter how credits-poor or inexperienced, is able to buy the walker for about ~100$. Buy two or three Vertica hypercrates, sell on GTN unopened(pack by pack or as is), buy the first walker that turns up on the servers, transfer a toon if needed, then unlock in collections. That means that some people who don't have 25-30mil but want the walker very much will possibly be buying packs and more packs.

The stats may surprise you in the end.

  • Have the rarity of items been more in line with what they were before 2.8? Are we swamped with lower and supplementary crates, for example?

From what I saw shopping for items from the Club Vertica pack on the GTN: No, the drop rate ratios were not bugged this time. Consequently, prices for chest and head crates were not outrageous, and I bought 2 or 3 sets (unlike the Star Cluster pack, where I bought nothing.) But I haven't equipped or collected anything yet, so I'm not sure about the unlock prices.

I, personally, am not buying any CV packs. I am showing the team a 'less than expected' purchase to be 'more in line' with my opinion of the CM at present. But that's me.

Me too. I usually buy a few packs to sell for credits, but I didn't buy any of the Club Vertica ones.
