Combat log post of overpowered Operative burst

Operative has 2 defensive cooldowns. One lasts like 3 seconds and doesn't defend against tech or force attacks and the other is a crap shield.

 

There is no survivability lolololo

 

I don't even use evasion as a defensive ability, I use it to wipe uncleansable debuffs like crushing darkness and snares from jugg/jedi. It's also manditory to use before vanishing.

 

So technically, shield probe is the ONLY defense, besides a 3 minute combat cloak which isn't 100%.

Why are some of these responses telling me to use Force Stasis??? How could that possibly help me in any way, aside from prolonging my death by another 3 seconds.

 

Probably because you needed to do something to regain control of the fight.

 

You were caught with your pants down, or herpaderped, and did nothing for nearly 4 second before finally activating resolute. And then, as he took you past half your health, you panicked, or herpaderped, and did zealous strikes....I'm guessing that's your typical rotation starter when already in melee range. There is no way you would have won that fight just doing your regular rotation.

 

Force stasis + saber ward MIGHT have worked, but only because it seems like that op didn't know what to do beyond the opener, or was just screwing around with you at that point. If he'd competently followed up on what looks like an easy kill the fight would have been over by 10 seconds in.

 

But most likely medpac + force camo and run away was your best bet, start the fight again later on your terms instead of his. Of course it also looks like you don't have either fleetfoot or second wind, so you're pvping in a non-pvp spec expecting to have much of a chance against a pvp spec who gets the jump on you. Gear only goes so far.

Mistakes:

- Being undergeared

- Never popped Healpack

- Didn't detect "Dodge", and launched Cauterize, Master Strike for 0 damage (all dodged/miss)

- Never Choked (free damage + focus + operative isn't killing you)

- Used Guarded by the Force too early

- Didn't use his best abilities (Rebuke (!!!), Saber Ward, Merciless Slash)

FWIW, lookikng at your log makes it more clear. This operative did not even do it properly. He has one stack of TA when he did the HS and then he consumed it as soon as he did the laceration. Its why I do shiv so that I have two. I can either lacerate or stim boost and still have one TA stack.

Oh dear, the only thing that combat log shows is you got beat and used the wrong abilities at the wrong time. Really looks like panic set in, sometimes happens to us all.

 

Some good advice in this thread, I'd roll back a little on being hurt by some of the comments and actually start to heed some of the good advice in here. Will make you a better player.

Most of the people posting here are just plain bad

 

That log though is pretty typical of an op 9k almost instant some do more, most do less

 

The fact remains is no class should be able to do that. If we all had 20k-22k hps I dont think anyone would complain, however alot of us dont even in 1100+ expertise and that damage is a joke

 

I dont care at all about the status of ops the bad ones rerolled and the few that remain just dominate people. The ops that cant dominate people post about how bad they are now, which is incredibly funny

19 sec to take down as you say 15k+ hp that is hardly what I would call "burst", there are 2 hits of about 3k in that log over 19 sec, hardly dangerous.

 

What killed you is the fact that you do not have a very good understanding of class mechanics, the whole log just details your mistakes, master strike into evasion: NO NO NO.

Ok so because my post this morning about Operatives just going around instagibbing people was ignored/ridiculed, I waited until it happened again today and here is the full combat log of the event:

 

I would like one of you forum warriors who think Operatives are balanced to tell me what I could have done to either win this 1v1 or escape. I doubt you will be able to do this as I think everyone knows that operatives are well overdue for a massive nerf.

 

Notes:

 

- I have 15000+hp and 1100 expertise. He had about 14k hp, so I doubt his gear was even better than mine.

- I broke his second "deblitiate" stun

- Applied my dots, popped my def cooldowns (though I was at about 3k hp when this happened from the stunlock at the start which people say I shouldn't break).

- He took no damage from me

- I then died and he walked away with about 90% hp

Ok so you lost a 1v1 against a better player and you think the other class is OP? No wonder every class gets nerfed with people like you who have no idea how to pvp.

Stealthy classes are very stealthy true fact.

 

The only advantages they have are

 

Eliminate of surprise

Able to Pop all CD's relics everything you got while being in stealth

 

So when they hit you they can hit you pretty hard and then comes the chicken with the head cut off look lol

Yeah, totally 9k and almost instant, haha, there where 2 hard hits and those where HS and BS both about 3k, and the log is 19 sec. hardly an instant kill.

 

OP did the equivalent of standing there and let it happen, which illustrates the "low" damage that operative did, playing like that would have allowed a medic operative to kill the OP in about the same time.

 

That log does not serve it`s purpose, if you think that was high damage be happy you never met me.

I don't even use evasion as a defensive ability, I use it to wipe uncleansable debuffs like crushing darkness and snares from jugg/jedi. It's also manditory to use before vanishing.

 

So technically, shield probe is the ONLY defense, besides a 3 minute combat cloak which isn't 100%.

 

To bad for you, you should change that, evasion makes you dodge all "white" damage, this includes master strike and rail shot.

FWIW, lookikng at your log makes it more clear. This operative did not even do it properly. He has one stack of TA when he did the HS and then he consumed it as soon as he did the laceration. Its why I do shiv so that I have two. I can either lacerate or stim boost and still have one TA stack.

 

Updated the log with even more color coding, so you can see "active" abilities vs "DoTs" and other things happening without players pressing keys.

Welcome to Zaodon's PvP Guide to Crying for Nerfs!

 

The following is a guide you should follow whenever you want to create "Nerf (class goes here)" threads in this forum.

 

1. Have Selective Memory

If you see an opponent attacking a team mate and kill them easily, only to get ganked by that same opponent 2 minutes later when they pop out of nowhere and attack you while you're engaged with 3 other enemies and at 65% health with no cooldowns left, you need to engage in something called "Selective Memory". You must block out the fact that they were an easy kill a few moments ago, and only complain on the forums about how they easily killed you. Use the terms "insane", "overpowered", and "ridiculous" to make your point stick.

 

2. Ignorance is Bliss

Never go to fan websites, wiki's or other sources of information to learn about all classes, abilities and talents. Never. By remaining ignorant of the actual features of SWTOR, you can claim things that are simply untrue/impossible. Examples include "He knocked me down and landed 7 attacks before I got up", "I'm a lvl 50 tank-spec with 60 valor and full PvP gear and he 3-shotted me", or "I was chain-stunned by him 5 times in a row and died."

 

3. Wield Your Ego

Claim to be the absolute best player in the world at SWTOR and PvP. Provide examples of how you "pwned" 5 people at once the "other day", and how you scored in Huttball with "the entire other team beating on you". Then claim that the class you want to nerf can beat you at will, and therefore since you are sooooo "uber", there is no possible way they could defeat you unless their class was OP.

 

4. Deny Reality

Even though SWTOR PvP is team based, you must never, ever admit this, no matter what you do. Use the term "1v1" constantly, to the point of nauseum. Never admit that all Warzones are won or lost as a team.

 

5. Exploit n00bs

As with all MMOs, SWTOR will have a lot of players who are not great at PvP, but will enter Warzones to try it out for the fun of it. But, the reality is, these people are n00bs and will not be very good at it. Your job is to deny this, and claim that every single player in a PvP zone is an expert, who never makes mistakes, never does n00bish things, has perfect tactics and strategies, and is top ranked. When these "experts" are getting killed a lot in PvP (and make sure you have videos of this happening), use that as "evidence" that the class you want to nerf is "overpowered" because they must be if they are killing all these "PvP Vets".

 

6. Anecdotal Evidence is Key

If there is a class you want to nerf, be sure to get some screenshots or videos which show how "overpowered" they are. Even though these classes will routinely score near the bottom of the scoreboard, wait until you are in a match where coincidence has them at the top (preferably, #1), and screenshot/fraps it. Use this as your "evidence" that all players of that class are "OP" and lack skills and use the easy button, and claim they "always" score at the top. If someone posts screenshots/videos of that class scoring poorly, claim that their screenshot/video is "an aberration", and that yours is the case in "virtually all warzones."

Yeah, totally 9k and almost instant, haha, there where 2 hard hits and those where HS and BS both about 3k, and the log is 19 sec. hardly an instant kill.

 

OP did the equivalent of standing there and let it happen, which illustrates the "low" damage that operative did, playing like that would have allowed a medic operative to kill the OP in about the same time.

 

That log does not serve it`s purpose, if you think that was high damage be happy you never met me.

 

Actually, it's really much worse than that.

 

The OP broke the 2nd stun and immediately used Guarded by the Force, destroying part of his own health pool w/out any help from the Operative. Pretty sure he still had over half of his health left before that point.

 

Sadly, if you really read the log, it's a classic example of a bad PvPer getting owned by a better one. He gets stunned, gets out and immediately goes for his "IWIN button", which the Op was expecting. Rooted him, waited it out, and proceeded to hand him his behind. The OP even manages to stealth and instead of escaping, runs back into an obviously losing battle!

 

He panicked and lost and then made this post, and then when people tried to be helpful by pointing out that there were plenty of opportunities for him to fight back, he goes on to call them "trolls".

I stand corrected.

 

It still clearly shows that he had only taken about 5k damage (including DoTs) by the time the 2nd stun came, which he could have broken at that point and stunned the Operative like everyone else does. He still had 2/3 of his health left, not 1/3 or 20% like he keeps saying.

 

After breaking the stun, instead of using a stun of his own or gaining distance to plan his next move, he immediately goes into his standard DPS rotation, and as soon as this begins to fail, he hits Guarded by the Force.

 

6 seconds passes between Debilitate and Guarded by the Force. That's enough time to use 4 abilities.

 

NONE of the abilities the OP chose were to stop the onslaught coming in, and as a Sentinel we all know he had a few options. Then he realizes he can't just DPS his enemy down, hits Guarded, gets rooted, and proceeds to get owned.

 

The point was that he most definitely could have reacted before he was down to 20%.

Regardless of CD management, it is clear that the Operative did not "burst" the OP down. None of the Operatives hits were particularly hard, and the fight lasted nearly 20 seconds.

 

A sorcerer chain casting Force lightning exclusively on a target will generally kill the target in 15 seconds. ~ 5 casts, plus or minus DPS cool downs pending on the gear differential.

LOL, you just got pwn'd by a good Operative. Did he dodge your master strike?? that's awsome, thought it couldn't be dodged.

 

OHHH and forgot.. how is this log a stun lock??

 

His stuck is 1.5 + 4s (without you breaking it). The fight lasted for good 20s..

 

You were not stunn'd or knocked down for 14.5s.
