Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ - Road Map 2017

I believe that's what Musco is working on with the Combat team right now - to provide the overview changes for each class and get more specific as we get closer to the release date in mid-July. Eric can let us know in the next day or so what's up. @Eric - over to you!

Please tell these guys that copy and pasting ( with a couple of edits mixed in to make it class specific ) the opening outline makes it look like you guys don't really care or are invested in said class. Scripted-sounding communication just rubs people the wrong way IMO.

Honestly balance is so far from achieved in PvP its ridiculous, swtor to improve a class always takes away from another, most of the time it seems too much.

Operatives/Scoundrels:

Too much survivorbility on the concealment/scrapper spec, they are way overpowered and easily spoil a wz if multiples are in a wz team. leathality/ruffian need help to be viable in pvp. Healers are pretty much ok.

Snipers and Slingers:

Better than they were, but, have too much clutter on the abilities bar, flourish shot is in my opinion is a redundant ability. In addition the scrambling field utility defensive safeguards is very restrictive, I propose that it is changed so you get healed to the full amount even if you leave the scrambling field area once activated, either that or a lower CD on scrambling field.

Sorc/Sage:

dps is not competitive any more, and they are trashed so easy in vs duels. Sage heals are to squishy, and when guarded by tank to over powered. They need more defensives but lower hps out put potential.

Assassins/shadows:

Serenity needs a higher single target dps and the tank spec over performs like crazy, infiltration is fine. The dps specs needs some self heals, maybe tied into deflection like maras and sentinels.

mercs/commandos:

Gunnery/arsenal overpowered on dps and defensives, to many slows available to the spec. Innovative ordnance/assault specialist needs help to be viable in PvP. Healing is fine, current defensives need to be kept as they are for the healing specs as they get focused a lot due to attention grabbing animations (esp commando med shot), may be tie in current defensives to the skill trees of the healing specs.

Vanguards/powertechs:

underperforming dps and overperforming tanks in dps gear.

Guardians/jugernauts

Tanks over performing when in dps gear, dps specs are fine.

Sentinels/maras

concentration/fury spec over performing and too many immunities, combat/carnage crit is too high.

If I am brutally honest some of the specs need a drastic overhaul to be useful and viable in PvP. Tanks are the current go to specs for PvP they are all crazy overpowered.

Ok, but I swear I typed the entire message. :D Seriously though, some information will always come off as scripted, since every word is digested, analyzed, then recast based on the interpretation. So, in trying to be consistent, it might sound robotic.

With respect to Class Balance, changes will be based on tons of PvP and PvE data, feedback from the community, plus a whole bunch of internal testing. Even though I personally do not want to see my Trooper nor Bounty Hunter nerfed, they will likely be adjusted to ensure appropriate balance.

Thank you for the candor.

Well, coming from a guy who's had multiple commandos ( and vanguards ) on different servers for years just so I can have one per spec, it was nice to live in the spotlight for a little while.

I have to echo all my Friends and Foe's in the Forum Community.

25% Legacy CXP Boost is not enough.

25% Boost on top of the other 10% we already paid $3.5 million credits PER Character is CRAP.

Maybe if you fixed the $3.5 million Per Character to be like 20% each level for a total of 100% then this 25% token for some crazy amount (Legacy wide) wouldn't be an issue.

I'm sorry... I went thru HELL to get 300 the first time. I'm not going to do it again for an ALT with only 35% buff and that pretty much makes it a no brainer for me - stop playing until next content rolls out. Shame too.. had fun showing a group in GF how to tackle Master Blaster Hill Billy Robot today.

OPTION 1: Make it 100% Legacy Wide perk for the same planned cost.

OPTION 2: Jack up the Per Character Boost Dramatically (Add a ZERO to each)

OPTION 3: Complete CXP 300 ONCE on ANY Character and then all your characters are Level 300.

OPTION 4: LEGACY WIDE CXP - You leave everything as-is and all characters share the same CXP Level.

OPTION 5: Make this lame 25% perk FREE after doing the grind to Level 300 the first time.

Edit: Adding backstory to my suggestions.

I came back to see the game after over a year being gone. Lots of friends and guild mates all gone to other MMO's including some I play with in them. Honest try on my part and wanted to check out this new OPS Boss. (Cool).

So going "ALL IN" giving the game an honest try again to see if I wanted to hang around. Was about to call it when Mr. "RNG is Exciting" was relocated to another department. In steps Keith with some refreshing and much needed communications. (FYI - Please slap Musco upside the head for his used car salesman pitches)

Story continues... I have a stash of Coins so I figure "Let's do this CXP thing to 300 and see how bad it could be". Fast forward roughly 4k Coins for Superior boosts (No big - had plenty) and a couple months of gaming. Why annoyed? It was horrible with the number of players in game now. I had to PVP to get gear if I wasn't in a NIM guild anymore. Hate PVP... dropped that for option 2 GSF (Love GSF). Except Solo QUE POP's due to population are nearly impossible except during peak hours (Mostly). Sure join a premade and shaft others works, but really why I hate unbalanced Ships/PVP in game (Slaughter for my benefit is sad). How about some Group Finder OPS.... yes thats a TON of CXP, when they pop (Like never). So by the time I was nearing 250 I found myself logging OUT of the MAIN to sit on fleet on an ALT just to watch chat and get a group and swap back. Nearly HALF if not more of my wasted BOOSTERS had been standing around with thumb in my buttocks waiting for group que's to pop (Yes I'd knock out more on weekends, but usually with a couple friends still around pulling me in to help.. This why I strongly feel that this CXP needs to be 100% Legacy boost after you are 300 once. You (BW/EA) don't have the SUB base to justify people grinding and trying to grind via the current model when we can't even get into the content due to lack of people. Not to forget PVP sitters just getting Unassembled for nothing.

On a personal note: Thank you. After reading this thread and seeing your communication to the community, I resubbed to the game again and I have hope for the future. I still have my beautiful collector's edition box I picked up at GameStop at 12:02 AM December 13th, 2011 and the Darth Malgus statue next to it and they've never moved from their perch. I've taken some time off from the game here and there over the years, but I really thought this last time was it for me, but you've brought me back to try the game again. /salute

That's awesome. Welcome back for sure. I have my unopened Collector's Edition sitting in my home office. During Alpha and internal Beta testing, I picked up two Shae Vizla statues for completing Act III on multiple toons. Both of those are still in their original boxes, too.

Not sure if anyone has asked before, I cant keep up, but...

For flashpoints done solo, instead of a generic robot, can we have an option to pick a second companion added to the roadmap?

Thanks :)

Keith, will the bodies of Senya and Lana Beniko remain the same when we'll be able to put new clothes on them? As of now, nothing fits their original bodies. Or is the idea changing their bodies to the ones default to the game and keeping their heads?

Normally I don't care that much about looks and stuff, but please, pleeeeaaasse add weapons to outfit designer as soon as possible!

I really want to be able to use different weapons who fits the different outfits of mine. After you add this I will start spending my credits and cartel coins on cm weapons. As up until now I'm only using legacy weapons of course, but I also want to be able to use the awesome looking non legacy ones.

Keith, sent me one of this statues for my collection, please X)

Seriously, thank you for such a promising road map, its really awesome! But don't forget about tons old bugs in HM operations (EV, DP, Ravagers, TfB) and in PVP activities: issues with сorrect displaying characters on the warzones, capturing turrets from a huge distance on Novara Coast, through using Phase Walk bug etc. We are counting on you!

Fingers crossed on weapon and/or armor sets!

Thanks Keith!

P.S

Also, if you don't mind me posting it here. Think you could take a look into the leaderboards please? They havnt updated in a few days. Was hoping it was down due to attempts to remove all the clone ratings but havnt seen anything mentioned.

I posted this before, but don't believe you were answering before, and I would love to get some information on this since this has been something a lot of people have been asking for since launch. Are we going to get jedi robes similar to those from kotor2/ the prequel films?

3. You get a whole 3 UC if you anchor-drag your team down like you seem to imply you do. GG, man. GG.

Seriously, UC farming PvE folks are a blight on the warzones. Please don't queue unless you are going to try to win.

Even loosing a warzone brings me one step further towards a specific pve-gear piece...something doing even 100 hardmode flashpoints can't do.

Thanks to the weekly and daily missions, loosing warzones is still quite worth it components-wise.

Oh and we PvE folks aren't happy either that PvP is the only way to work towards a specific PvE gear piece.

As mentioned before nightmare operations are only accessible to a very few players and stand in no relation to a simple click on the PvP warzone queue.

And to calm you down...I'm actively participating in the warzones I join. And as a healer I'm obviously not even doing bad...at least my MVP count and other players compliments tell me so.

But still I hate having to spend most of my online time in a content I don't like just because there is no PvE alternative to the super easy warzone grind (nim ops stand in no relation to the easy accessible and simple unranked wz-grind).

I don't want to feel like I'm missing out on something (the ability to work towards a specific PvE gear piece) when ignoring PvP. I want the freedom to play the way I really want to (PvE only) without having that big easy to get carrot teasing me to PvP.

That's why I am asking for components for PvE activities.

Wasn't it supposed to be: "Play the Content you like and get rewarded"?

That's kinda hard to do if PvP has the biggest and most accessible carrot of all.

(actually PvP has the only accessible carrot for most of the players and it's called components)

For me (a player who doesn't like PvP) this game has turned into a PvP grind but as long as the carrot offered by PvP is so easy to get and there is no comparable PvE alternative to it, I will go on playing the content I actually don't want to play.

It never was so easy to get any bis PvE-gear part of your choice than it is now, by simply spamming unranked warzones (that is the carrot I am talking about). And I can't ignore that carrot until I am done with farming my PvE-gear or until the PvP grind has sucked out all the fun I once had playing this game and quit it for good.

And once again:

I don't need bis gear...I never needed it and actually no one needs 100% full bis.

But I do enjoy having good gear so much that I will always do anything within my limits to get the best gear possible for me.

Even if that means I have to PvP for my PvE gear, though I hate it.

Hi Keith,

as long as you guys don't distinguish PVE and PvP skills the game will never be quite balanced.

It will keep making both system far from optimum.

Speaking of PvP the biggest issue, apart the gear, is the STUN fest.

I've been playing other PvP focused game a lot lately and made me realize how wrong SWTOR is.

Removing the keyboard from the players while they see their characters being killed is not a fun experience.

Nor it's fun to kill a helpless character either.

Thanks.

If they were to add components to PvE activities, they'd have to:

1. Tie them to weeklies/dailies to prevent farming

2. Buff the CXP for warzones to make up for it

3. Give something to NiM raiders to compensate

Personally I'd like UC's hidden from newbies as much as possible. The later they learn about the UC grind the better, since it takes a while to get enough and it's a waste to use them if most of your gear isn't BiS. The amount of vendors could also overwhelm some newbies.

If I were to add them to PvE, it would be through Operations since players have to go to the supply section to claim operation gear anyway. So when they go there, and they see the UC vendors they won't have to ask "where do I get UC's" since they'll have some with them already.

12 UC's for an operation weekly, 4 UC's for an SM operation boss, 8 UC's for a HM operation boss, 16 UC's for a NiM operation boss. And buff PvP/GSF CXP by about 30%. Maybe give UC's according to actual difficulty so people don't just farm KP/EV again.

Pvp is not the biggest carrot people have to choose from. The different parts of the game boost one another if you spread out the content you play. Getting full BiS gear from doing ONLY pvp will take an incredibly long time. While you won't be able to get 248s from operations unless you grind out NiMs you can easily get full 242s in just a few runs of the easier HMs. Imo a pure Pve'er will be usually be better off than a pure pvper. If you have a mix of both then you can get 248s with relative ease.

However you said you don't want BiS, you just want good gear. Well you can easily get that without stepping foot in a warzone by just running ops if that's what you'd prefer :)

You'll be able to buy a full set of gear for your alts, including set bonus, weapons, ear piece, relics, and implants with Command Tokens in a couple weeks. This doesn't fix everything about gearing (we'll discuss that in the coming weeks), but consider when we used to all earn crystals just to buy high endurance gear with no set bonuses.

To set expectations, this 25% Command Rank Perk is not going to be free. You don't need to buy it, but since it is Legacy wide, it'll be a one time purchase (credits or cartel coins) and I anticipate a worthwhile investment.

I do realize for those of us who play on multiple servers, we'll need to buy it and transfer a toon (which is cheaper than the cost of the perk) - it's how I personally handle keeping my Legacy current on all servers. There are a number of Perks and Achievements I'd like to see us make account wide, but we haven't fully investigated the effort, so I'll add that our growing list of ideas.

---Keith

Wow,

You guys really mastered the double dipping when you gave us 50 companions no one asked for, added another 40 levels of affection, and came up with the solution to make it bearable. A legacy perk. Just give us a little bit of cred or some of your hard earned income to make it bearable. Forget we created the problem and you already pay subscription fees for a game who doesn't release new content. Just releases more time sinks so they can cash grab you with.

So you guys went full on TRIPLE dip. So we can pay our sub fee to actually get gear 1. We can buy a legacy perk to some what make it bearable 2. We can Pay for 25% more of that through the cartel market or Command Tokens to make it bearable 3. All because "RNG is exciting!"

I love how you guys continue to profit off of solutions to problems you create. You guys are really doing this for the fans. You know that small section of your fans where they keep their wallet. Cause last i checked i paid 15 a month for this game.

QoL improvements. This game had a **** more quality of life 4 years ago. How much to get back to when this game was good? You know when gearing "was a lot less simple." Oh I relish the days when I only had to go to one vendor to buy upgrades. Ops bosses actually drop tokens. Oh wait we went back to that. Sorta. I wonder why we didn't just go all the way back? Oh ya. Money. When legacy perks where something you unlocked as you advanced your legacy. You want to know the last time i advanced my legacy? 2014

No one needs 100% full bis gear! But before the introduction of components there was no carrot making me play the content I don't like. Joining an unranked warzone is super easy...it's so easy I can kinda semi-afk the whole warzone, it doesnt't matter if I'm a good or a bad player...I will get my components 100% guaranteed. All I need is some patience. And seeing how easy it is to get specific bis gear pieces by simply joining an unranked warzone I do swallow the pill even if it's bitter and I hate it.

Excuse me but that is laughable. I can almost afk a warzone and still get my components and you call that harder than hardmode flashpoints? I'm doing hardmode flashpoints with random pugs only (so no guild premade to rofl through it)

and often you get groups that just can't finish Lost Island, Battle of Rishi, Korriban Incursion (dps check droid boss) or Depths of Manaan. Depending on the group, random pugging can be an easy walk in the park or a nightmare.

At least I can't afk a hardmode flashpoint and still get rewarded and sometimes a random group isn't even able to finish it (while there is no such a risk in pvp).

I would love to see pvp-gear coming back cause that would mean there is no longer a carrot teasing me to play content I actually don't want to play. But this carrot now is there and it's super easy to get. Too easy to ignore it without feeling dumb. (I hope you get what i mean)

But since I highly doubt that pvp-gear will come back...I am asking for alternative non pvp ways to work towards a specific gear piece. And no, nightmare operations are not an alternative..they stand in absolutely no relation to the easy accessible and with 0 effort and risk playable unranked warzones.

And pls don't get me wrong, though I'm not a fan of pvp I know there are players that do put a lot of effort into warzones. But the same goes for hardmode flashpoints, especially the harder ones when doing them in random pugs without experienced and well geared guild premades.

And I never asked for bis gear drops in flashpoints. I'm simply asking for components beeing also rewarded for finishing a hardmode flashpoint. I also don't want flashpoints to be a faster way to farm components. I just asked for an alternative to that (excuse me) stupid pvp grinding for working towards a specific pve-gear piece.

There is just something totally wrong when players like me who hate pvp, sudddenly spend most of their online time pvping. And I'm not the only one.

Are.... Are you reading what you're writing?

You're actively saying that you purposely ruin other people's games just so you can get 5 components per loss...

If you hate PvP so much, don't *********** do it. It's disingenuous to claim you're being *forced* to do it, because NO ONE is forcing you to do ANYTHING. Don't like PvP? DO NOT DO IT. Don't wanna do NiM? DO NOT DO IT.

If you want to chase that carrot that badly, either learn to actually contribute in games where that carrot is necessary, or stop queuing up. If the carrot isn't dropped in HM FP, it's because the carrot isn't WORTH being dropped in HM FP.

You're literally arguing that because YOU, PURPOSELY ruin others' game time in PvP, that PvP is "easier" than HM FPs, so HM FPs should have a drop. No, PvP is not easier, you're just being a d*ck to players who want to play.

As it stands, you can already use HM FPs to CXP grind and get all the gear you want. You want 248s literally handed out to you for the 3rd easiest group content in the game, simply because you're not willing to put in the effort into NiM? And then you claim to "fix" that problem by queuing up and ruining other PvPers time by AFKing?

Doesn't surprise me. This was happening before when you had to do pvp to get a companion. I don't pvp normally but asked my boyfriend to take me so I could get the companion and to show me what I needed to do. I may not be great (since I don't do pvp) but I wanted to at least try and since I took my medic that was a bit easier to learn.

It always surprise me how many people have no problem to afk in pvp. Sad thing is, if you inspect them, they are far from low level casuals. Their gear is often far good and it seems they are endgamers farming UC. I can imagine how they would react if someone would afk during their pve activity in flashpoints or raids. :( Edited by wistarie
