eadnams
I had the same cpu as you, the same vid card, not overclocked, but twice the ram @800mhz ddr2. In fleet and certain areas. 15fps. Everywhere else 30-40fps. I upgraded to a phenom2 x6 1050t, 1333 ddr3 16gig, and a new motherboard so I could put my SLI configuration back in. same version cards, still no overclocking done. In fleet and certain areas, 27-40fps. everywhere else, 60-108 (I applied vsync and it sits steady at 55-60fps. srs bizns gamers will still say that fps is crap...but no, it really isn't. Since *I* couldn't tell a difference between 108fps and 60fps, and it is my rig, not theirs. Yeah, I'm happy with anything over 35 fps, ideal is 60+

Deathstrike
I have 1 year old laptop (bought previous December) with most powerful video card at that moment - having 15-25fps on fleet. I wouldn't call that "I have no issues" and somehow I doubt more than 50% of SWTOR players have less than a year old computers. Making graphic more complex will force many players - include myslef - to switch to low quality settings. However could be nice to have ability to tweak graphics a bit in low population areas. Really? Because when I played LOTR, I could choose between different qualities of graphics with no issues. If I played with the high rez graphics, it had zero affect on my buddies. Just saying... BlackShardKyler
I'm baffled, I run everything max (Shadows included) at 60-70 FPS with drops to 55, without shadows it's a solid 100-110 Specs: Intel core i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz 12 GB Ram nVidia GTX 560 1GB VRAM Windows
sbjessen
Well.. It seems like BioWare has localized the 5% with low end PCs. Congratz. What about the people who doesn't have low end PCs but still have FPS issues on Fleet Station and especially in Warzones? Syylara
I love the parade of people who post "I run everything on high with no problem." No, you are not running with the high resolution textures. "High" is using the same settings as "medium" except in cut-scenes (and the system is set up so that you don't render anyone not in your group in those). In an upcoming patch, "medium" will be taken out entirely as a setting and you will simply have "low" and "high" ("high," again being what we currently understand as "medium"). EclipseGSX
I currently get on average 35-65 FPS in outdoor areas, 15-25 in fleet, and 15-25 in warzones. Can't remember what I get in FP's and I haven't gotten into a PvE Op. All of my settings are on full low, bloom off, shadows off. Oddly enough, I can run about 85FPS on full high settings in Black Ops even during some of the more intense matches. This is also with AAx8. ClasicDeception
There are so many brands of component parts and infinetly amount of possible combinations of them, there is no garantee everything will work together well on everything. Not everybody is going to be able to run a game super smooth regardless of what they have, its impossible to take in account every specific peices of hardware that is out there. DevonLoy
I personally do not have a very good laptop. It`s a toshiba I picked up at walmart like 2 years ago. But this is the only game I can`t run relatively well with some graphical tweeking. Mainly I think it`s because they don`t have the right graphical options. Specifically the draw distance slider that was in the beta. I DONT WANT TO SEE LITTLE MEN DANCE ON THE MOON but the worst thing is that it draws the entire environment, yet mobs in new areas dont pop up until their eating my face, it`s ridiculous. I`ve run 14 man raids in lotro with manageable performance, but on certain parts in flahpoints, I straight up just can`t do anything with a four man group. westblue
I get really low fps and yes i have a crap graphic card, BUT with my crap graphic card I run way better looking games then the crappy graphics this game has. Face facts your coding is weak, I don't like being looked down on or being used as a scape goat for crappy optimizations. My computer is not the problem, its your game the graphics in this game are nothing special games released over 5 years ago have beteter graphics(which i run without lag btw). -____- These guys are wasting millions on a few hours of dialogue that runs dry in 1 month then using their own players as scape goats . LOL your sir are just wow for those of us who can read. The box of the game was very clear on what you needed and i personally have 3 systems. They all more then meet the req set on the box and you know what. My old alineware runs this game way better then my bran new one. I broght 60 pluse friends with me that are hard core pvpers and all have above avg pc's. and for the state that the graphics are in on this game eng pos anyways its just sad. But every single thread I read someone is telling someone its your rig lol. No its not I dont care if you have a hd 4200 ati that is well above the min sys requerments they said you need. I know a guy with a 3600 or some junk and he stays at 30 fps. my new laptop gets 9 fing 9 my 3 year old one gets 30. As for you comment it will be the needs of the few i started like i said with 60 friends and they broght family to and have watched them one by one leave my friend shattered his laptop at my house yesterday when his class quest went to 3 fps. I DONT FING CARE WHAT YOU RIG IS THE BOX SAID YOU CAN RUN IT THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO RUN IT! 10 fps is unplayable so if its someones rig then they should not have been able to meet said req that are on the box so yes NO MATTER WHAT ITS BW FUALT:D
Onomas
I didnt have any issues with lag or anything on high level graphics until about 2 patches ago. Then things on the fleet and in warzones because realy hard to play. I would run 15-20 warzones daily, but now i cant even get thru one. So its not my system since it worked before, even on low settings i dont see any difference at all. I run quad 4 3ghz, 6gb ddr3, 1gb redeon all drivers are up to date, so no its not my system if it worked fine earlier, now i dont even go near warzones and try to avoid fleet unless my inventory is loaded up with items to sell. I had the same experience, except with heat issues after the Jan 6th patch...game ran perfectly till then, something they did on that patch messed it up. They won't admit it and all the fanbois say it's entirely the fault of our computers (when nothing changed our end). I now avoid fleet as well. The hero engine is clearly not designed for MMORPGs - places with people in them So for that series of rudenesses, not going to bother reporting bugs etc any more - clearly it's pointless (all the bugs I've been reporting are still in the game). lollie
This is pulled from another thread, but explains what this buggy engine is doing wrong to our computers - Actually, Brad Wardell did, it was caused by the game attempting to render to many polygons simultaneously for ships (something along the lines of several hundred billions of polygons per second)... ...High end cards have features that CAN and ARE accidently taken beyond their limits by bad coding on the side of developers. I pointed out that it only occurs on the higher end, because the common excuse is "don't occur for me, and I'm only on a [low end card], which should overheat more, right?". And thusly, there is a reason that low end cards don't overheat, and high end ones do, but to an average person that seems illogical. Hence the explanation. This is pretty much what SWTOR is doing when we enter areas like fleet, and warzones - it's thrashing our harddrives; trying to pull large amounts of texture data all at once from our harddrives. This has been confirmed by Stephen Reid. Appearance of paging due to thrashing when trying to pull large amounts of high-res texture data at once, per Mr. Reid clicky The problem is in the coding of SWTOR, and it's causing our faster rigs some damage by making them work too hard just because they can. I know right dosnt seem like they had one. Fps were not a problem. I like many other people have maxed level toons. Knowing how hard juggs are to do class quest I went to help a guildy the other day. We have close to the same alien ware m17x r3's and went in to a quest I have done and I just droped to unholy hell. This is a quest I did 2 weeks ago with help with no problems. So what ever the real problem is its getting worse Tons of people are saying the fps are droping more and more. I know some one will post in a min and say works fine for me bro its your rig. No its the old crap eng they used with crap coding:eek: WHAT THATS RIGHT I SAID IT CRAP ENG WITH CRAP CODE
Grundledeep
in EGA I had 0 probs. Since then every few days fps spikes in WZ's and fleet have intensified. I have done everything a computer owner can do to improve this and nothing works. Doesn't matter how high or low my settings are or whats off and on. So weird that in beta and early access maxed settings no prob. Then after a patch day around Jan 4th-6th all goes to hell
Eerazer
eh. well you know what considering there's over 2 million people who own the game now and what, a couple thousand who have issues?, i think that falls into the category of most. even overwhelming majority.. don't you? Zerbruz
For people with a (good) laptop and low performance: FORMAT YOUR LAPTOP! With the oh so nice included "bloatware" from publishers, it will slow your laptop down CONSIDERABLY! Formatting your laptop for a clean PC will make it run SO much faster. I am running this on my laptop without any problems whatsoever. At around 30 fps in fleet, 40-50 fps in pvp, over 60 constant fps outdoor areas. SPECS: Intel Core i7 2630QM @ 2.9 GHZ Nvidia GT 525M @ 685/900/1370 8GB DDR3 RAM 128GB SSD Edited January 17, 2012 by Zerbruz
TomWhiting
. I DONT FING CARE WHAT YOU RIG IS THE BOX SAID YOU CAN RUN IT THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO RUN IT! 10 fps is unplayable rant much? The reality is that your 'minimum requirements' are just that. They are MINIMUM. If you have a PC (or laptop) that meets MINIMUM requirements, you're going to be able to play MINIMALLY (ie: 10 FPS). Get over it.
Brildijk
Case in point: I'm running on PC that has an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.00Ghz (dual core CPU) with 4gigs of DDR2 RAM, Asus P5K-VM motherboard, Windows 7 64-bit OS, and a video card (eVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1gb) that I recently added. I have had only occasional slowdowns but generally exceed 60 FPS when playing, which is a huge improvement over the FPS I got with my last vid card (eVGA GeForce GTX 520 2gb). o_O I have that exact same videocard, but was thinking it was kinda bad because it doesn't go above 20 fps when on High or even Medium settings. Currently everything is set to low, low, low, and off. And I'm pulling about 10 fps in a capital, on average 15 fps in a pvp match, and about 43 in the normal outside world while questing. Complete specs: - AMD phenom II Hex core @ 3.7GHz - 16GB DDR3 @ 1833 Mhz - eVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB - 120GB Agility 3 SSD - 1TB Caviar Black - Not sure of the motherboard, but it's a Gigabyte something something that is reasonably decent. And I recently updated the firmware. ^^ Performance: - On average about 8-12 fps on the fleet. - On average about 13-15 fps in a warzone. - On average about 40-45 fps while questing. So. I was thinking it was perhaps just that the game wasn't adjusted for the videocard. But since people with the exact same one seems to have a whole lot better performance, I kinda suppose we can rule that out. I've also tried the latest "recommended" drivers, as well as the beta ones. But no differene there. So, I'm blaming it on me using a hex-core processor instead of a dual- or quad-core. Personally, I'm thinking this game might just not be optimized for anything more then a dualcore or a quadcore. Which seems somewhat plausible. However. Cause I figured to look a bit further towards the cause and I might as well use this oppertunity to bring something to light here. This game has some insane memory leaks. To save you the trouble of Googling the term; A memory leak, in computer science (or leakage, in this context), occurs when a computer program consumes memory but is unable to release it back to the operating system. In object-oriented programming, a memory leak happens when an object is stored in memory but cannot be accessed by the running code.[1] A memory leak has symptoms similar to a number of other problems (see below) and generally can only be diagnosed by a programmer with access to the program source code; however, many people refer to any unwanted increase in memory usage as a memory leak, though this is not strictly accurate from a technical perspective. This is best shown by simply disabling your GUI. Press Alt+Z and see your FPSses skyrocket. Press Alt+Z again, and see it back to it's good old self. Conclusion. It's not the game coding. It's not the textures. It's not the shaders. (Or well.. perhaps still somewhat) But the largest factor in all hampering, is by my findings, just the GUI. gangbot
From what i have read there is a load of high end PC's having these issues. I'm not sure why they say the 5% apparently having fps issues have low end pc's
