where do you see the server status list?

http://www.swtor.com/server-status

They fixed it late last night to show the actual server loads (originally, all the servers were together-NA with EU-and said High/Full/etc. Meanwhile, the game client showed all the servers mostly being 'Light' all day yesterday. Once they fixed the EU/NA servers showing together, they all magically started showing the same population levels as the in-game client had been doing all day. And, since then, the servers have all been mostly 'Light' on both: the server status page and the in-game client.

I totally agree with op.

It is annoying that we European customers have to adapt to the US timetable.

I do not think Bioware will do anything about this, seeing as Europe has most of the time in the past always come second in their agenda.

OP +1

This is not important for Early Game Access invites, but it is important for future maintenance schedules:

Will we have future maintenance downtimes during playtime periods in Europe?

I doubt that, to be honest.

It'd be suicidal to schedule maintenance's during play hours, not going to happen.

Most will play on the EU servers simply because of the timezone.

When I go to bed they came home from work.

Most Germans/French players don't speak English all that well (exceptions are there) so I doubt they want to be on a US server.

The NA servers are the European servers btw.

During beta one of the German servers became English and boy did they not like the English speaking invasion.

Agreed with OP.

Which is sad, is that when you buy the game, you don't buy EU or US version, there is no region lock or anything. This means they have no way of knowing which EGA account is from EU and which from US (unless you've updated your account information) and then they can't be 100% sure.

So it's all based on the order of pre-orders, that can mean spikes of 90% US or EU people only in a wave.

USA is the only region that counts, everywhere else can go get stuffed.

- Official Bioware policy

Look at the server listings and see who got the most servers,

During BETA the fools at Bioware thought Europe should get ONE English server and 4 - 5 French / German servers.

Then they expanded that English selection to: 3

Then they expanded that English selection to: 5

Pro-tip -

The UK alone has 60 Million people in it.

It takes a special kind if idiot to think ONE English server is going to service EUROPE but BW have demonstrated this stupidity enough times to make it clear they have no interest in considering Europe as anything less than a bonus to their PRIMARY playerbase which is the US.

I see quite many English servers there in Europe, I guess they was launched after you posted that or didn't check from there.

This reminds me, I have wondered back during beta why they chose "Light", "Sandard", "Heavy" and "Full" to present their server loads.

Maybe Mr Reid when he gets into work will catch word of this thread.

So, Stevie boy, as a Brit living in the US can you give us some answers about how the launch and how the server maintenance will be handled over here in Europe? I hope that the guys in Ireland are going to be able to do the server work on our time frame, as the OP so kindly suggested.

And just to add to the feedback from the thread, you do realise that a large majority of Europe is currently sat by thier computers, having taken leave most likely, waiting until this evening before the first sniff of an invite comes along our way...

There is only so much COD I can play before I get RSI you know!

Personally, I dont mind too much, as I was on leave anyway as I am working shifts over christmas/new year so I get to spend some quality time with the wife. She is major pissed that any chance of her getting a name she wants has now gone though, unhappy wifey, painful lifey! ;)

I cant wait to get EA, but I just wish it was going to be at a timeframe more suitable for us guys here in the place where the history comes from. Oh well, time for another cup of tea methinks!

The Germans are the last ones that should complain about invasions >_>.

My apology bare with me I'm Dutch.

Was bound to happen during beta with Bioware giving one EU server for those that want to speak English.

I played on the US one, less people and less lag.

1. There will be more players from the USA and Canada playing this game, if every other MMO ever released is any indication. That is purely the only reason why there were more servers.

2. Beta is beta. At one point there was only one beta server, period. You can't really infer much from that one beta weekend which is long past.

But this is not the topic.. We are conserned about the time differences when it comes to support, downtime and maintenance in the future.

This is the main object of this thread.. To see if Bioware have taken this into consideration or if they will take down all the servers during CST nights and leave European users without servers during the days (in our time zones)..

Sure it would be great if invites were sent out during our hours too, but the main goal is to get an answer regarding servers and the future of European players...

No offense intended and no evil tone of voice used.. :o

No offence taken and I note your non evil tone :p

LOTRO switched from Europe to USA and all it did other than irritate a few people who really had nothing else to moan about was improve the customer service. I suspect though that they will run eurpean CS from the Guildford HQ. After all its in ther intrests to keep us all happy

This is not meant as a flame, as I certainly understand the logic behind your post, but the fact is that the decisions come from the brass at the top, who are located in the US.

It's best if you understand that the primary focus is going to be on the US, try to cope with that, and be thankful you even have a 'Bioware Europe' and are being recognized, because it could be worse...Just imagine if you lived in a country like Korea and were trying to order and play.

Your awareness of the world fails, sir. A market as large and lucrative as the EU should not count itself thankful - Bioware should count itself thankful that we're willing to buy their products, as any seller/service provider would be.

Handling the launch and handling the maintenance are two different things. As I see it, BW tries to have their most experienced and best people available for launch and they can't be up 24/7 or there would be a lot of mistakes. Therefore waves come in USA and Europe at the same time, so that those best people can handle any problems.

If BE EU would start to give out waves in our timezone and something problematic would happen, they would need to contact main office in Austin and try to get those specialists up from their sleep. This would then most likely mean closed servers, delays and everybody stressed and unhappy.

In my opinion current way to do things seems to be very good and so far has been mostly problem free. I expect myself to get in maybe friday (entered code 13.11.) and I'd rather play on the servers that work and don't have thousands of people killing same moose/mice/rats etc.

Happy waiting to everyone still out there...
