  1. Having lost my shard in Rift and at the time being pretty angry I soon realised the benefits cus suddenly Sanctum was buzzing. And now all the EU English shards are generally on Medium which basically means when the invasions pop I can guarantee a group of us having fun. When I reflect on the first couple of months of Rift it was still a blast even on the shard they shut and the zones were very heavy with group activity. I love this game cus its a solo challenge pretty much all the time. Just feels like one big green door all the time. I'm on my fourth zone now and Level 22 and I haven't grouped with one person yet. There is nothing in chat what so ever and I like see five six players all night. Doesn't bother me as I say, the game is more console than MMO. When I want a bit of MMO I go play WoW or Rift, and if I want the space travel I go play STO. This game is more Final Fantasy than serious MMO. But cus I like the story its fine. So I'm not bothered with mergers cus when I get to 50 I'll just start another char and play my other games for group stuff. Can't see it happening here. And my goodness, whats with the masses of servers do you really need that many. Bit ambitious I have to say. Interestingly my WoW server Nordrassil which I have been on since time began is still hectic and I guarantee if I logged now the AH would be full and Stormwind awash with flying mounts and shiny gear... Including my own. Games just can't match that kind of activity. Even the space dock at STO has way more ships than I see players in Fleet or what ever its called. Enjoying the game though. Its just different to WoW.
  2. I am just so proud of what my character does in this game and I really feel quite humbled by this. I actually feel I am part of an epic journey and I am determined not to let the Republic down. I love the way the story unfolds and the cool way my character takes on all challenges. The character is very true to the way the books and the film portray them and so I do feel immersed in the whole story. And so when I log in, I log out to real life and can truly escape for a few hours each night.... And on that I bid you farewell cus I have a Jedi waiting on a ship in a galaxy far far away. A big thanks to the creators by the way. And keep up the good work.
  3. Not sure what you are trying to prove. How is either dis-advantaged. You seem to suggest, unless I am mistaken, that by having more time to play a zone the character is penalised. I play to have fun and the game needs to be as long as possible. Sounds like playing the Sith you get to speed your way though and that sounds tragic for something you pay to play. I did all the quests in the starter area with my Jedi Consular and was 11 if I recall before I left. I was somewhat sad to leave and am making sure I do everything possible in the next two areas.. now being 21 and just about to hit the bonus area. Hope I didn't misunderstand but it seems you relate a faster route as a disadvantage. So would you prefer half your film, half your meal, half your football game and half your life just to complete faster. Don't get that. If I could I would freeze the levels so I could stay loads and loads longer. The game just whizzes by. Sad really. I guess the Jedi are quite special though and get way more quests. Thats a good enough reason to play Republic all the time. Thanks for the heads up.
  4. I like playing the underdog. Especially when I am defending the weak against the tyranny of evil. And so that is reason enough for me to play Republic. The game is pretty true to its roots insomuch that the strength of the few won the day against the vast army of the Empire. And so it's working as intended. The game is about choices. I made mine.
  5. I have to agree with this ... I need three at the bottom. Hopefully I didn't miss the setting. I did look.. If anyway knows how I unlock the third on the bottom row I would be pleased.. Building.. Finishing.. Healing.. and with buffs to the right of me. Dunno if I can move the Chat to bottom left and get the top menu bottom left also . Rifts format is best I have to say.. Can you duplicate that. Plus maps are very confusing to read and unless I missed it I can't put a waypoint on the map.. Don't really like the doors much they could just be highlighted sections of the map and quest help to finding map locations is a bit tricky.. or should I say none existent and with places not named on the map finding places particularly in the centres of occupation is frustrating. Fortunately zones are very small so not much of a problem.. not like travelling across Ashenvale or Barrens say before Cata. Otherwise working as intended and a great game all round. More please.
  6. Not Trolling. I am guessing thats a console game then. I play Rift, STO and WoW plus Final Fantasy and FIFA but no Mess Effect... Maybe I'll go Google. Is it a kids game ?
  7. I actually don't know is the answer. I mean though don't keep me in suspense... Please tell.
  8. Never heard of it, so I guess not. This game is way too good to be giving up on it for anything else.. even if I knew what Me Three was... What is Me Three anyway ?
  9. But then I wouldn't be able to watch my character interact and give those responses that reinforce my growth in the game. Its the one thing about this game that gives it an edge over eveything else I play. Instead of a wooden character that at best just yelps and screams I have a character with a specific personality. Personally I would go the other way... Way more clips and interactive chats with more options for answers and longer discussions. Shame really you can't go back and ask more questions and interact further. Makes the game come alive. But then I really like my character and I am enjoying seeing the general growth in the way NPCs interact and respond to what is said. Classic. What would be great is a whole bag of instant emotes you could fling at your companion during or after a fight complimenting or nagging on their playstyle, particularly when they go stand by the guy I lifted in the air whilst I'm being attacked. I always feel like saying..'what the hell were you doing out there' or 'come here you big oaf'. But then that wouldn't be very Jedi I guess.
  10. 1# A LFD tool will ruin/destroy the community. 2# It will all be about loot acquisition if the LFD tool is implemented. 3# We will see more 'thiefs' and people will be bad mannered. 4# "I don't want to play with random bad/clueless players". 5# Only lazy people wants a LFD tool. I seriously couldn't have put together a better list. Thanks for that. The one you forgot is the one about ... Another game you played like for years introduced this and the creators regret the monster they created... Add to that 'Gear Score' and 'Achieve' and I guess you got a recipe for filling a city full of gear swilling shiny mounted groupers waiting for mates to abuse whilst spouting anal jokes. Am I right.. or am I right.. right. right. This game is a MSORPG, the way of the future... And thankfully in a galaxy far from Stormwind.
  11. Players complain cus they are not playing the game. If they were playing the game they wouldn't come here to complain. PS I'm not here to complain, I'm just waiting for the micro to ping... And there we go. Ding. The game is brilliant by the way and I do hope they don't change the way its structured. Great idea and the birth of the MSORPG... er and thats not a spolling mystake. Work it out.
  12. I was only on a month sub but having played for a week or so and loving every minute of it I subbed for three months. Can't see me letting the sub ever go cus as I develop characters I like never stop subbing a game. The game to 17 was sufficient for me to keep playing and I am certainly here for the long haul. Very entertaining I have to say.
  13. The game follows the story concept ie Han Solo and his Wookie co pilot Chewbacca. Even the latter films had the main characters working as a pair. Would seem a bit odd otherwise, don't you think. I generally don't like pets in games but this guy with me is really the tank so I can work the magic and stop being eaten alive at times. I wouldn't mind also dragging around a R2-D2[type] to be honest, or even a C2-N2 for some joky chat whilst fighting. Just adds even more to the atmosphere.
  14. I really needed that ship tonight and my Jedi finally rested after a weekend of epic play. The story was so intoxicating I kinda spent every hour in front of this computer. Feels a bit empty now that I have to go sleep and work tomorrow. Can't recall the last time I got so involved in a game story. So I have no idea what you are really talking about. I consider each and every move I make, and I remember just what I have been tasked to do. And the completion of the task and the rewarding way I progress is just fantastic. Great game, creat concept, great story line. I am a Jedi... such a responsibility. Sadly the latter films of the Star Wars series just didn't feel as epic as the first three. And the story was a bit dry. Nothing like the game thank goodness.
  15. I was going to say that the game is exceptionally entertaining, but I really didn't want to ruin your moment.
  16. I've been playing games since 1981... And I have every game console and computer created, pretty much. I collect retro computers. I have a nest of machines in this room from the humble Amiga through to Elite, PS3, Dreamcast, Cube and a couple of powerful PCs rigged up to big screens. Gaming is a hobby of mine and I really take no prisoners when it comes to entertainment. I loved WoW and actually still play, along with Rift and the odd flurry into STO. I also have Guildwars. With 10 at cap in both Rift and WoW I kinda have done most of whats to offer really. Those games are good. I bought Final Fantasy XIII-2 this week but have yet to fire it up. I won't play unless its fun. And to this game... Level 17. The game is brilliant. Loving it. I don't generally get put off by what anyone says about the game. After all its my game. And the game is intoxicating I have to say. I have done little else this weekend. I can easily see me doing this for the next year. Classic. PS I thought Skyrim was crap... Played all of one hour before the box hit the shelf.
  17. I agree. Totally agree. But sadly the kids need their daily fix and are tooooooooo idle to play each and every game created without it. What they should do is give massive benefits to those that don't log in rinse repeat and then log out with their new shiny. They destroy games, always have. Dalaran was awash with them, all thinking they were contributing. Just give em a button to push that chucks out the sweets and they will be pleased as punch. This does nothing to build RPG and game communities. So hey.. Give em a lounge to sit in. Give them their own trivial linear path to their goodies. And let those that don't want to do this earn the better gear, better weapons and the crazier ships. If the none LFG brigade ruled the game and were allowed to progress you may just see a super player develop beyond the quick fix gear chasing kiddies that populate modern MMOS. .... So give em their LFG. For goodness sake give them their LFG. Please, so we can dump their whines from the forums. But please reflect on those that want to use the FORCE as it was intended. And let those that do benefit way more from their efforts. Two paths.. two paths. Seems a good game theme. Sad really. Very very very destructive. And thats the tumblewead and crickets... An empty world and only a 'one armed-bandit' to play with. Very interesting... NOT.
  18. You got nowhere to run to... Don't tag and make sure you can finish what you started. I like that edge in this game. Stops those just going around looting nodes and opening stuff. Loving it. Even the boss mob chased me the full length of the map yesterday. Cool.
  19. Not really.. Only the side quests. The main story is what you work through. The other things are just a vehicle for killing mobs to let you gear up. At least in this game you do get a feeling your actions have some purpose.
  20. In Rift there is a cap of say 29 and will not show any more players. You also can't see the other faction in Rift. The trick I found was that if I wasn't on the list for my area then I had hit the cap for the list. Only just started playing.. I dunno how to chat cus in Rift if I click the boxed person or channel I can post but here nothing happens. Do you just SAY and it goes in the Channel your in ? By the way I just picked a mid table random server on standard and there always seems to be loads playing. Kinda annoying cus they keep taking the mobs from me. I'm level 13.
  21. Ok I played WoW for way too many years to admit and still do .. I have like ten characters at cap and another ten at 60+... An addict I guess. I play Rift and have 11 character at 50. I have my own massive science vessel in STO and play that also, but not as much as Rift. Rift is a brilliant game I gotta say. As for SWToR, I am well impressed, its very very good. Its different again. Cus I actually feel the character I am playing has a personality and I am mindful not to conflict with the growth of that personality. Sure my characters in WoW and Rift have kinda personalities, but only cus I gave them the personality. But in SWToR the character feels like someone I care for. And having watched the Star Wars films I feel I owe a duty to become the noble Jedi that I play. Great fun, and feels like I am living an epic saga. So to the OP I guess your missing the point of the game. Its more Final Fantasy than World of Warcraft. And more story book than gear chasing. I really am enjoying playing this game and really do look forward to the game growing. Its going to become a really popular game in time and I'll be following it all allong the way. Saying that I'm levelling another Shadow Priest in WoW and just hit 41 in Moonshade with my Cleric in Rift. I bought Final Fantasy XIII-2 which I will play tomorrow and still play FIFA and Uncharted 3. Thing is why just limit yourself to one game. I have subbed for three months here and I'll carry on playing till I get all the various classes levelled. The game is sufficiently deep to keep me interested and loving it to death at the moment. Just a shame I have to go to work every day. A big thankyou to the creators and well worth the money. And really guys don't be put off by the MMO know it alls.. I have seen this type of player. They stand around all night in Stormwind waiting to group and have little concept of immersion in any game. They PUG their way through by boosting and would hit the insta-85 button if they could and then still complain there wasn't anything for them to do. Anyway I'm off to Thedeor Fields in Rift now to see if I can pop the Horror Skin for my new Rogue and then I have some unfinished business in SWToR for my Jedi to sort out. Gaming... Classic fun. And don't forget its not a way of life.. its entertainment. And for all you WoW guys.. Seriously .. you are not your avatar. You're just a person who plays a game. ... So funny.
  22. OK I'm Level 11 now and still waiting to see my first bug or game issue. Just left the first region and all is working perfectly. I have been playing Rift for a year and that didn't have any problems either. And before that WoW which only created problems when I got to Shattrath and realised I needed a new computer. And when I got Rift I got a new computer, the kind that is designed to play games. And no doubt if the new gen games need more power I'll upgrade again. Thing is I actually own an Amiga 500 with am EA badge on it that was used to test their games back in the old old days. But I guess then they knew the kit they were making the games for. I would suggest a lot of the bugs are hardwear based. Anyway I'll keep you informed as I progress. Though to be honest I'm the kinda guy that knows the load on a computer sometimes can be a bit taxing. And simply marvel at the technology and just what can be fed across a telephone line. Quite magical really. Must be a real challenge for a game creator that stretches the boundary of technology to cope with the myriad of different machine set ups.... And virus checkers, and spam checkers, and routers and ISPs ... world wide. Before they go changing something that aint bust or degrade the whole playing experience of those with meat in their machines just to satisfy some student playing on his laptop using a college network they carefully weigh up what to do to the engine. Give the guys some credit please. After all they did design the game. Which is pretty good I have to say... And currently working as intended.. For me.
  23. I signed up for this game yonks ago and dithered cus of all the crap being spouted on these forums and just kept playing WoW, Rift and STO... I had the game installed and just didn't want to play cus of all the negative comments. Anyway I finally sub'd this week and I have to say its the most brilliant fun I have had in an MMO for yonks. So thanks guys for all the negative posts.. You deprived me of playing this classic game for like a month. Show me to read such nonsense. But then I think there are many that just sub games to post on forums. Thats the entertainment they get I suppose from the game. Same in Rift and WoW.
  24. Arguments like these amuse me cus its like saying you shouldn't complain about a game that looks and performs like Final Fantasy VIII some seven years later. Come on.. these guys have to not just keep up with the pack but run ahead of the game. So for a next gen it has to be better and more refined than WoW. I mean WoW is stuck in a game format that like is as old as the hills. But today Istarted playing the game for the first time and find combat very poor compared to what I have been used to with Rift. And the game interface and general functions of Rift are way superior to this game. I play WoW and I expect it to be less polished than Rift. But then I expected this game to be light years ahead of Rift... It aint. Doesn't mean its any less entertaining, but it does look very dated and the combat is too clunky and basic. The animations are very slow. Dunno if I'll keep playing. We'll see. Also the characters are really wooden and lack character other than when they are talking with the voice over. They lack fluid quality and the gear looks really drab and the quality of the clothing appears very poor. The faces are all the same by the way... for everyone. So strange.
