  1. I cancelled my sub two weeks ago. I only come onto the forums cus it is way more entertaining than the game was. No doubt I'll get chucked eventually but till then I'll end my computer time by coming here and amusing myself with some of the posts. Fortuntely I can rest easy each night knowing that I am levelling a character in another game and not wasting my time in SWToR.
  2. Yeh... 1.7 Hotfix 10 15th March, Hotfix 9 9th March, Hotfix 8 6th March... And some of the hotfixes are more than bug fixes. Nothing stays bust for more than a day or two. Trion do look after their customers.
  3. I think this game is ideal for anyone that doesn't like queues... or any other players.
  4. Sorry but the game sucks. Its boring as hell. Gotta be the worst MMO I have ever played. I am not bored with MMOs but took me very little time to work out just how bad this was. And I play Rift as well as the mighty WoW. Even STO is better than this game. What I find funny is that I have had an email from the creators of this game four times this week, two asking for my feedback, one offering me a free weeks play time and another wanting to know why I unsubscribed. It was simple. The game is bloody boring. And I love the way guys like you seem to think the game is anything like as strong as other games. Well here is the scoop it aint.. It is like circling the drain. And you can keep plugging away at making it out to be some kind of WoW killer, but sadly it just isn't even on the same page. Well I hope you enjoy your game, and do keep talking it up, but in time you will see what happens... But hey. I'm off to enjoy myself. But not in Star Wars.
  5. On that Control 1 thing I just don't get how being blind has anyhting to do with it. Looks at keyboard... no clue there... Looks at interface... no clue there. So I guess this is a keyboard tool... Scuse me for not 'knowing that' ... No doubt its wrtten on the tin along with the directions on how to stop the moronic companion from running in front of you every time you want to loot or mine or what ever. Personally I have never experienced such a none responsive pet... Just one of many crap ideas in this game.
  6. If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen. This guy sounds like an MMO noob in love with Star Wars and fails to realise that when an MMO bombs its gonna cast a very large wave in its wake of angry players. Expectations should be high, given the hype surrounding this game. And cristicising a game like Rift by citing the River of Souls show how ignorant the reporter is. Just go look at Ember Isle and 1.8 thats coming if you wanna see how polished real content can be. What he failed to point out was that SWToR IS BLOODY BORING. And yes I'll moan about it cus I wasted money on this game and it was idiots like this that was telling us to go buy the rubbish. Trouble is that this game gets a blurred perspective cus of both the WoW haters and the Star Wars fans. In the middle though are those that just want a good game to play.
  7. In all the time I played STO, WoW and Rift I never got a mail from the game creators asking for feedback. And yet in this game I get the same mail request twice in one week.. Well here you go this is what I said.. I have already mailed you and told you I stopped playing cus the game is very boring. The combat is just the same all the time as are the quests. I HATE the companion and hate the travelling about all the time. The crafting is pointless and really dreary and uninteresting. The planets are not planets they are chessboard linear paths. The space travel is childish and stupidly moronic and I just cant abide the flirting crap with the companions. And there is nobody playing in game so it feels like its circling the drain. The game could play on a console like FFXIII-2, but even then I wouldn’t play it cus the combat structure is not challenging. Can’t believe so much money was wasted on this game. You would have been better trying to make a Tetris game and saved all the voice acting. Never mind. Better luck next time. I’ve gone back to Rift. There is nothing that can be done to make me want to play the game... Its crap. Sadly I'm one of those that sub'd for 3 months whatamistakatomake. ... specially as I'm used as a crappy statistic supposedly showing how wonderful the game is doing. NOT.
  8. No. The game got boring real quickly... I mean real quickly. I decided that for a cinematic solo player game which this is I may as well use the PS3 and play FFXIII-2... which I am. I really don't see the point of calling this game an MMO. It could so easily be played on a console as a single player game. Thing is as a PC game the content is real dreary and the bosses are just your normal mobs with gold bits on their avatar (yawn).. I mean took me 20 minutes to take down the flan in FF. The things that most annoy me are... The companion... ( they come in two flavors... annoying and very annoying ).. The crafting ( thats a laugh )... The exploration ( chess board linear paths... not planets ).. the walking, running, travelling, air locks, lifts, doors, lifts, air locks, more running... come on why do you enter a door that immediately launches you into space.. wouldn't you take your coat off first and then you travel in a blink of an eye and exit the ship before it lands. The only purpose I assume was to make you feel like you had travelled in space... but the travel in space was like zero of the experience. So why not portal to different spaces on the same chess board... cus the illusion doesn't work and the bit doing the travelling isn't interesting...) Where was I.. er yes lack of other players ( 20 at Fleet and some dozen on your planet... my goodness those are healthy figures ) and er the style and look of the game. ( All the characters are built around the same kinda model. The customisation is very poor and the character feels totally wooden. I just can't get to like my character... and what is worse, the companion starts to flirt with me... YES flirt. Who came up with this rubbish. ) Anyway there you go. I come on the forums and someone always asks so I tell you the truth. .... er no. Definitely not. I wouldn't even play this on a console.
  9. Playing FFXIII-2 all day and to be honest it may as well have been this game for the amount of other players I normally see in game. When I logged to move my character there were 30 in Fleet and 4 (four) in my level range and there was like 16 on the planet... so why bother with calling this an MMO. Sadly I think MMOs are stuffed anyway given that there is always a rush for content then players get bored really quickly. I am surprised though at just how fast players got bored of this SWToR. Sad given all the effort. Maybe if they had made it into a console game they would have made more money.. Or maybe they have made as much money anyway and now are just milking the game for what they can get knowing its circling the drain subs wise. Anyway I have a flan to kill... Gotta go.
  10. This game is so deceiving in its structure cus it actually is very entertaining to start with, so much so that for me I gave them a three month sub...... But then the niggles start and you find yourself less likely to want to log. The game engine delivers the very same combat mechanic with all that you do and you do start to become very bored. For me I got so bored I just started standing in game for an age and not doing anything cus I couldn't muster the energy to want to trundle through dozens and dozens of the same old same old. And then about two weeks ago I stopped playing. I logged once and took my character into the wilderness to see how long it would take me to die from fatigue... I died and so did the game. And my character lies dead somewhere.... Shame I couldn't kill that bloody annoying moronic companion at the same time. I don't think they can do anything to get me back. I'm playing something else now. And yes they have my sub... But this game unlike Rift and WoW will not be resubscribed. It really is very boring.
  11. Rift is doing just fine and very enjoyable to play. Most that invest a load of time in an MMO are likely to maintain their subs cus they don't want to see their hard work dumped in the trash. Rift is gradually developing into a very enjoyable polished game and I for one will maintain my subs on both Rift and WoW. As to this game though I spent a month and wasted a load of time playing a drudge game with little potential. I aint about to waste any more time here. And those that have active subs like me are probably just going to let them run out. MMOs are a time sink and players need to feel that thay are progressing with something worthwhile that has a future. All I see in this game is empty spaces... loads of empty spaces and no incentive what so ever to play. So cough as much as you like then maybe watch the latest Rift video and realise that in a years time when this game is trawling the bottom Rift will still be releasing new and interesting content.
  12. What I don't understand is why they decided not to give the player real freedom. Like why in space the journey doesn't take a relative amount of time to the travel and during that time they gave you interesting stuff to do on the ship, like checking what you had gathered, checking inventory, looking at log entries say on an email equivalent starship computer that you have to work out and may give you real leads to new adventures. TV room say or music facility to create your own stuff. A practice area on the ship for combat. An AH on the ship and fun things to do. And then random conflicts in space with other factions and the chance to land on random planets... Happens in STO and its all instanced so just create one of the mini maps for a random planet. And with the travel around planets make it feel more like you are adventuring by giving you more freedom and let you steal ships and speeders and even spaceships. Make your own challenges, explore the unexplored and create your own adventure. Sadly the game is just a linear predefined path and its starting to show badly now with the apparent lack of interest. For me its too late but for others they may get involved if they can find interesting stuff to do. And the space travel is a start and random instanced planets and instanced sections of the planet maybe.
  13. I just got an email from the creators to give feedback and this is what I said... You asked me how I was enjoying the game.. Well I am not. I am back playing Rift. I like open adventure. I like real crafting. I like a variety of game play and I can’t stand companions, especially ones that flirt with you. If I had a companion I would like to choose it and I wouldn’t want a bloke I want a female and a female main and no flirting. Light and Dark makes no sense to me. The space travel is meaningless and the game is way too linear. So not my cup of tea. The fight basics are the same irrespective of mobs and the game is way way too easy. There are no challenges. The planets are just paths and not zones and the quest runs are truly moronic and tedious. I cannot feel growth and the crafting sucks. Also there is nobody playing sadly and it feels really empty. You can have my money for three months, my mistake. If you go look what Trion are doing that might help. Goodbye.
  14. Probably my fault for watching the latest trailer from Trion before coming to the forums but sadly SWToR all looks, well, just what I am use to in Rift, but like less interesting. This game had its chance with me and sadly it just didn't get off the starting blocks. And now cus everyone has left, its just failing big time. Maybe it will attract a core group of players but this stuff isn't going to cut it, basically cus it looks more like damage control. Not one thing there isn't already in games like WoW and Rift and in those other games its way more polished... I mean come on the Lost Island was it.... Isle of Quel'Danas and Ember Isle... Where is the originality in that. Anyway... I will leave you. I have another game to get on with.
  15. I'll be honest with you... given that I played WoW like for an age but now play Rift... Star Wars the Old Republic is a bloody joke and I am so annoyed I subbed for 3 months. Never mind.... we all learn... well obviously not all of us. Enjoy your pipe dream. See what you think about this game in six years.... More like Say Hello and Wave Goodbye. Bye. PS Have you seen the latest trailer from Trion. Now that is exciting.
  16. But the game isn't fun. It is dreary and repetative. After 25 levels I started over to see if I missed something, but after the first place you are running the same areas again. And the combat combinations and activities are all the same. Loads playing have done many years of MMOs and this game was supposed to be new and exciting. Its not. And I guess only the Star Wars fan brigade actually like it. Sadly not for me and I didn't wait to end game to make that judgement. I can see where the things going and I just can't be bothered. If you're not progressing in an MMO you are wasting your time. And while I'm here I could be progressing elsewhere. Those casuals you talk of won't understand that. But many do. The clock is always ticking in an MMO and unless you feel you're getting one up on the next guy you wont be hanging about.
  17. For me it was when I realised I'd rather be doing something else than log on I guess. I just couldn't face another trudge through endless groups of mobs that all perform the same way. I just chuck the grenade, my insane companion pulls one over instead of tanking and then its just the same old rotation till dead. And then off again. Then there is the crafting nonsense and sending the droid out to do stuff. And then the endless voice over messages which at the start were OK but after a while it just gets to be the same old same old. The last straw I guess was the guy companion flirting with me, when infact I am a bloke anyway who just likes to see a cute chick in front of him playing a game... Too much Lara I guess. I hate the companions generally, they really suck at combat and I just hate the look of them. Why have voice acting when you gotta read when someone doesn't speaka the English. You wait like an age for the guy to finish yet you read it in a flash. And why does the companion for ever run in front of you when you go to click.... I really hate the companions, I really hate the boring content, I really can't abide the linear gameplay. And sadly after ONLY two weeks I couldn't face logging in. No doubt Star War fans enjoy the game or else it would be stuffed really. Anyway I am playing my old games now and after the many years there I can still drain fun out of them. This though... no thankyou. Makes my head hurt.
  18. I just did a small runaround... 37 Fleet and I saw three players, 13 in Ord Mantell, 19 in Nar Shaddaa, 17 Taris and 24 in Tatooine. Now in Rift there are 14 in the starter... At cap for 50s in Sanctum that means more than 29 cus thats how many the list generates. I could see loads and loads of players in Sanctum at the carnival. 29 at cap for 10-20, 29 at cap 20-30, 29 at cap 30-40 and 29 at cap 40-49. And Rift said medium. And I see players everywhere I go... and Rift is supposed to be failing. So strange. Fleet here feels like a ghost town and I don't see anyone when I'm playing. It feels really miserable... so I stopped playing SWToR. People who play MMOs want to feel they are wih a crowd. Sadly I rarely see more than three players together... and there is nothing in chat. I guess those that believe there is not a problem can keep sticking their head in the sand. There are way way too many servers for the population and the lack of players puts others off. Trion realised that and acted quickly. Its not hard to do. But I guess just after three months of launch its going to look very bad.
  19. 23 in Fleet... And 15 in Nar Shaddaa... Standing room only:)
  20. But how are the fixes supposed to fix a boring game. Its boring. Everything in the game just repeats like over and over and over. Get in that taxi thing. Talk to guy, he tells you that unless you do something pretty dramatic the world will end. Dramatic means go and kill like half a dozen grouped mobs... or whites or one gold and then come back. Its like easy peasy and moronic. Sorry. After a few weeks you kinda loose heart especially what with the lazy crafting nonsense. Your companion constantly runs into your click zone and then there is the light and the dark... Does it matter. Plus all the running and running and running and running and running and running. There are no planets.. there is a linear grid area that could be anywhere... They could be all on the same planet. Sorry.. no fix or bug fixes are going to keep me playing. Cus its boring. Very boring.
  21. I maybe subbed but sadly not playing the game. Its a dead duck and truly boring. Wishing now I hadn't subbed as I did. No patch is going to resolve the issue that the game is just way too linear and the companion idea is annoying. Freedom is something the game doesn't generate, nor a feeling that there are lots of other players in the game with you. And the number top left just makes you feel lonely, the one that says that there are 8 other players in the area. Dunno who is kidding who, but they really did screw up on just how many players they thought would play this game. And I guess most realise its problems are at the core of the game concept and are just giving up. I'm back playing Rift and I gotta say its nice seeing other players for a change.
  22. I gave up a few days ago. The thought of yet again logging in with that moronic campanion of mine to simply do the same old same old over and over again just finally broke this game. I gave it a couple of weeks and levelled two to 25 but sadly it just aint WoW or Rift for me. It just follows the same pattern like over and over. And the combat is just so pointless. Throw grenade and kill... Throw grenade and kill.. Throw grenade and kill..etc and the Consular was no better. There is nobody in any of the zones, Fleet is empty and the crafting is a joke.... 'Master I must do better....' What ever. Anyway, thats me done. I'm back now where I was with my other game, which aint perfect but at least there are other players to chat with and things to do and I actually feel the combat has purpose and I don't have to put up with that braindead corpse that is a bloody companion. Seriously not interesting so when it falls over doesn't matter to me ... I won't be around to see it.
  23. Took me quite a few years before I got bored with WoW. Took me just two weeks here. Seriously this game is so dreary... Sorry for that. Back to Rift.
  24. There is a slight issue I would suggest in the perspective players have of the game given that they may perceive the focal areas of the game as being empty. Not an issue for most who enjoy their questing but for those that are use to seeing loads of other players then that could be troubling. I reflect back on how Shattrath and Dalaran looked in Warcraft. I just logged onto World of Warcraft and all eight of my European English servers were on Medium. Yet when I get to Nordrassil the AH is teaming with players as is the bank and the space outside is filled to the brim with loads of characters all running around and chatting. And so the perceived activity is 'busy'. The /who generated 49 which is the cap for the interface. I am level 85. Most in the game are actually 85 so that may colour matters.... For me though Stormwind has generally always been busy with the exception during the period of the Lich King. I then logged in to Rift and again all five of my English shards are showing medium and in Sanctum the 50 count on /who is 29 which is the cap for the interface but there were many players at the portal, on the steps and down the steps by the balloons ( dont ask ). Chat was slow but active and there was definitely a feeling of lots of players going about their business. I am Level 50. Granted again most players in Rift are 50, but with the Pinata chasing and Ember Isle the number looked high for the capital. And healthy. I then logged onto Star Wars the Old Republic and Bao Dur shows Medium and Fleet shows 65 players. I stood at that bar and walked around the top circle platform by the lifts and saw three players. There were two players in side rooms and about ten players split in two groups at the AH machine. Chat had two messages in the time I was logged. Granted I am not 50, so I wouldn't be picking up the busy channel if there is one. I am Level 25. But sadly the place, as it always does, feels very quiet. Massive areas of no activity and long curcular corridors with nobody there. And an empty bar always feels very sad. For players of other MMOs I am surmising that without that busy feel it may indeed feel that the game is losing popularity. However, from the general status it is just the same as the other games. Once you are out in the field though, all three games feel and play just the same. I do apologise if I have misinterpreted anything from my view of matters. I am not suggesting that there is an issue, but more an opinion why some that play may feel matters are not as they would expect them to be. Particularly if they have active accounts on other games.
  25. Your post is in the form of a question. And then you go on to say it is a serious question. And then you go on to answer your own question. The question therefore I ask is was your question a serious question, as you state, or just a vehicle to critisise the game. It appears you confound your own argument by admitting you are not enjoying the journey to 50 and yet you are conscious that your gaming time after 50 will also not be to your taste. I for one play games to enjoy myself and I am generally able to make a valued judgement within hours if not minutes of playing. So in this instance given that you answered your own question I would suggest none here can answer this. You either simply do things for the sake of it and have no self control over your habit or you truly are just here to decry a game that for some is a very entertaining experience. My question to you then is why on earth would any gamer play something if they were not enjoying themseves. Not a question really, more of a common sense statment. And you don't need a forum to make such valued judgements. Bit like saying you are not enjoying making the cake and you don't like the taste of the cake and therefore should you eat the cake. How can we know... Personally I like pie.
