  1. I just wonder how many players give up with this game cus they can't be bothered with the bloody updates. I'm sorry but after three quarters of an hour and what looks like an inch on the progression bar I cancelled the update... again. I just can't be bothered . I have no idea what the game has to update, but in truth each time I have wasted an evening doing this I can see nothing that has changed. I just want to play the bloody game. Painful and frustrating and yet all the MMOs I play have nothing like this updating process. Just what on earth can they be bloody updating. Never mind... I was subbed to the game but really if I have to do this every time I log in you can forget it. And as for the one time password needed every bloody time I play or post on the forums... Seriously.. Is it little wonder that other games are way more popular than this. Warcraft never patches like this and although I get the odd patch in Tera I never have this one time password rubbish. Never mind.. That was an hour of Saturday when I could have been playing Tera. Wont make that mistake again.
  2. I don't play that often but when I do I am faced with the most horrendously long updates. It was only the other week I had to leave the computer on all night to download an update, that when I logged in I could see no difference in the game. And tonight the same. Well I really can't be bothered. What on earth can you possibly be doing that warrants what appears to be a fresh install of the game every time I log in. Just puts me off trying. And I pay to play this game. And tonight I would have dabbled but faced with the lengthy tedious moronic update procedure I just gave up. It was 180MB with just a quarter inch of what looks like a 5" bar visible. I really have better things to do with my spare time. I play World of Warcraft and I never, but ever get this problem. The game generally updates as I play and only at times of new expansions. The last patch went by un noticed. So you tell me... what on earth warrants that kind of patching. My guess is that its lazy games designers who just don't think about economical updates. SWToR is without doubt the worst of a very bad bunch. Anyway. After having to authenticate my name once for the update and authenticate AGAIN just to come here cus the game can't recognise me I stopped the patch update. I just want to play, its the weekend. I'll go back to Azeroth where I know I won't get this kind of nonsense. Sorry for that. Happy patching. Can't say I'll bother again. I mean if I leave it another week I'll never update the game will I. Do you actually bench test these updates to check how long they take to download. And if so do you change shifts in between checking them. You cannot be serious.
  3. I dread logging into this game cus if I have left it a week or so I have to sit like forever while the game updates. I am truly now bored again waiting and as soon as its done I'll be off to play my normal game. Thing is in the updates I have seen, nothing, but nothing has affected my game. It all seems really pointless. Added to the fact this game takes like forever to load and god forbid I go from one place to the next. The game seems to have to rewrite itself each time I play. I am not going to quote any of the other popular MMOs that I play but seriously it is only this game that has these annoying incredibly large downloads and game starting loading periods. Just my thoughts, as a few moments ago I was kinds in the mood to play but having waited like half my afternoon off to just update the game I really can't be bothered. Sorry for that.
  4. Seems fine. I like the idea of being able to expand the bag slots. I also like being able to get gear without the capes, drapes and curtains. I would prefer some kind of wardrobe slot so I can actually get gear that lets me see my character. That last drape I had kept rapping round me.. so weird. But now I have something simple I bought which makes the running around and graphics so much more easy on the eye. So far I am happy with what I have seen and hasn't diecouraged me from playing... Pretty good I have to say.
  5. Probably the best story based MMO game ever made.
  6. Hi Been away for a while and just reactivated the account and subscribed and bought the small expansion so looking forward to getting back into the game. I did dislike the way most of the armor revolved around the large capes and I was wondering whether there is any easy way to click them off. I certainly can do this in another well known game. All help appreciated. See you in game.
  7. Not really... I have about 30 days play time left on the account but haven't played for months. The account I'm talking about is the SWToR account. As to World of Warcraft, although I guess I played way too much, I recently started again on a new server and its just like old times again. Very busy, great fun and very enjoyable... pretty much the exact opposite to what my time here was. SWToR is way too boring. Both Rift and SWToR had to merge the servers to boost the game populations, but it won't last. At least in WoW I'm guaranteed a good volume of players. And if you thought this game was empty before the transfers just wait till the Pandas hit town. I've tuned up my 85s and they are waiting in the inn at Stormwind ready to rock and roll. Can't wait. MMOs are a time sink and you really need to invest your game time wisely. Otherwise you just get left behind.
  8. If the communication fails then it is not communication. Making an assumption that people understand carries more issue depending on the consequence. That is totally subjective and the decision of the person communicating. Personally I would never run the risk of folk not understanding, but then I would not talk regarding an issue that I did not understand. I actually don't know how to use text talk as I don't use mobile phones.. So all the short hand stuff is meaningless to me. In truth I couldn't care less... I never even read the chat pane... Its way too high up on my screen. If it's anything like WoW its all kiddy nonsense anyway. I wouldn't let it get to you.
  9. No.. I didn't understand any of that, sorry. Legacy.. reset.. what ? I play each night just the same as I always have.. No difference.. How does anyone owe what ? Sorry.. Don't understand. If you don't want something, don't buy it.
  10. There are two ways to play 'pass the parcel'. The one that is the most hectic is the one where they remove a chair each time the music stops. Trouble is without a chair to sit on your out the game.... or have to find another chair even if you found your own chair very comfortable. Lots of MMO gear chasers like everyone sitting on the same chair as it feeds their game and saves them waiting for groups when they log. I sense the music about to start... hense the frantic nature of posts like these. For me this is ' not very important ' , at all. But then I like my chair.
  11. No just a bag full of balloons and the promise of a mount ( yawn ).... Hardly what you would call adventurous new content.
  12. I like grinding so there is often a very long period before I go back for some more story, and my memory isn't what it was so I could really do with a replay.... You know...' The story so far '... Or ...' Previously on SWToR '. In FF I could go to a theatre and watch the video that I had collected during the game. That would be cool.. And you could see the crap gear that you once wore. Maybe even show your vids to your buddies. Anyway... I actually don't mind the lack of MMO in this game. It is more FF anyway... the none MMO version I am talking about. And cus I am a great FF fan I guess I do like to grind like mad and gear up before I partake of the next adventure bit. Reminds me more of my D&D days of old when I would have to go round the kingdom to get the gear. You can do this here you just need to know the best grind spots and where the odd treasures are. Anyway... thats what I do. Each time I play a character I try to get higher and more geared on each zone that I challenge than I did before and also do every one of the quests... Great fun. Some of the gear is hard to get sometimes but you will get it in the end. Also all the Heroics need you over geared anyway if you do them on your own. They are like the boss fights in FF so being best prepared takes more effort. Very doable though.
  13. This is strange.... You sit at a computer alone in your home and think that interacting on a computer game has differing social values. Seriously, you need to get out more. Its a game.. play it how you want. Personally I treat those in a game as just pixel fodder. I reserve human interaction to the real life face to face, people I know and trust and value. In truth who cares what you do in a game. I don't interact with anyone in games on any meaningful level, never have. The thing I generally find myself hating most about games like this are the other players.... Seriously annoying. I also never use the LFG tool cus really all you finish up struggling with is LFG 'tools'. If someone asks for help, I'll generally help, but don't expect me to be sociable... it's just a game.
  14. Because the travel was so tedious, cus the crafting was so moronic, cus the combat sequences are just exactly the same thing like over and over and over, cus the game was so linear, cus the exploration was like zero, cus planets are so small, cus the gear was so themed and limiting, cus there was a feeling of emptyness, cus once you listened to the voice acting for one story you couldn't face another and cus I found I couldn't stand the companion one more day. And light saber thingys and hoods and robes, sorry. And cus of all that I stopped playing when thay scourge thing started and then found I didn't log in again and next thing I knew I was back in Stormwind and never looked back. Dunno even what the game is like now, but I can't see me ever playing it. The game just got shelved along with those trillion console games that I picked up and never bothered with again... Games that grab you from the getgo tend to work. This game just jogged along in a bland way and I just couldn't get interested. Sad... but there you go. Its just not epic in any way and I knew I was not enjoying it when while at work I found myself looking forward to playing Rift when I got home or WoW. The mobs in this game just line up one after another in groups of threes and fours and its just wash, rinse repeat and then go kill more and more and then the bonus 35 more. You listen to the long conversation and its just the same old same old. And the questions and answers are just too limiting and you either get a bad face job or are pure... Up or down.. One or two...And there was nothing on the AH. And crafting...well.. Better stop. Have fun.
  15. Same fight mechanics for each encounter. Just go through the rotation what ever you fight... and there are always multiple mobs and no skill what so ever in killing. And then you get the annoying new quest to just go on and kill another 30. The crafting is boring. Really boring. Hoods and capes. Hate hoods and capes. And the gear is stuck in a style that is really boring. I want to see my character.. not a sack of potatoes. The answers to questions shouldn't be just a way of getting a light or dark weapon. Its either top or bottom. The companions are truly moronic. Not enough choice and I would prefer to play on my own to be honest. The story line sounds good but you never make any real difference. More phasing and area changes needed. The map is too small on each planet. Its like playing STO. The quests are linear and take you through one route. Irrespective of the customisation I think the characters like in WoW look like they were the product of the same family. And the game gets real boring. I know this cus I logged out and then had to really struggle to log back in. Next thing I know I was back playing WoW and have never come back. Then I unsubbed, cancelled the payment and answered the little questionair. Never played since and don't miss it at all. Sadly way too linear and produced to be interesting in a deep way. Its suited to fans of Star Wars and kids that like Nintendo stylie stuff. I doubt any serious MMO player would hang about in this for any length of time. Dunno, I'm out of here.
  16. Dunno.. maybe if they gave me a shed load of cash or maybe paid for me to have three months holiday and then paid me to play... Er .. a flash new car maybe... Gotta be some incentive like money I would guess. Otherwise the sub runs out soon and that will be that. Can't think of another reason to keep playing really. Sorry for that. When I filled in that box to give my reason for un-subbing I basically said it was cus the game was boring. Don't think there has been any changes in the game that would remedy this so I doubt anything could make me play again.
  17. How does Fifth of January sound like 'may the force'
  18. There is no RPG in this game. None at all. Only a perception that by watching a stream if cinematics you are somehow involved in playing out a performance that you somehow believe you are controlling. Far from being a very good RPG this game has zero RPG content. You have very little opportunity to customise and craft your character as there are so limited options... Just four doors to take. And the gear is so generalised and varies little. The game is a linear path from one quest giver to the next and there is nothing to develop your character RPG wise past 50. I suggest you go research what RPG actually means and then reflect on just how this game gives nothing. This game is a solo player console game and gives about as much RPG as Half Life, Uncharted, Resident Evil and Halo maybe... But the whole thing in this game is planned out for you... from the moment you start the game you are watching a movie... And sadly its not even a very good movie. I guess if you are into Star Wars its OK but for others, well....
  19. I have never had a game that didn't work on my PS1, 2 or 3 or my XBOX or Elite... my Dreamcast or my Cube but on a PC.. you gotta be kidding me. Folk do amuse me about generalising about PCs. Not one persons PC set up is the same... and yet the developers kits released for the consoles are structured for the platform. And console games are way more complex and controller sensitive than a PC game... The PC is still based on the concept of GEOS and pointy clicky.... Nothings changes really. Processors and hard drives get bigger and the programs eat up the resources with inefficient bloat. Always has done... Well not quite... but then you would have to have a girlfriend that knew Agnus, Denise and Paula.
  20. Yes... Back to the console now. I just can't stand another game where I have to be given what appears to be some game changing quest just to kill ten of that or activate four of that etc just to see my XP bar rise or add a small amount of crit to my new shiny shiny. What I find amazing is that each and every game I've played I have gotten to be very advanced and yet even with just an expansion the new content is so kiddy lame poor. You can have just taken down the Lich King but move to the next supposed best thing just to activate a silly electric panel.... What ever. And so the thought of drudging through this or Rift or Warcraft or any of the others any more is just so boring. There is nothing in a current MMO that I haven't done a thousand times in one form of another. I kinda think the MMO concept is spent... especially as they drained the RPG right out of it. Its all bang bang thank you mam now with no effort and insta rewards, and the content is just so easy. I know they are aimed at the kids market but seriously, this form of game has become so mind numbingly infantile. Shame really. And so I'd rather play FIFA I guess. And check out the mags and see what stuff is coming up with the x^o[].
  21. The sad truth with any game that needs popularity to survive is that the individual will not alone sustain its success. The game will not succeed because it satisfies a minority player base and neither can it be developed without wider appeal. For me I got to midway levelling 4 characters and realised was doing no different than any other MMO that I am subscribed to. What was worse this time around is that it took me a little over a month to realise that I really wasn't enjoying it anymore. I went away, played a bit more WoW and Rift and STO got bored came back and I was again enjoying myself, or so I thought. And then when I reflected on matters I realised its not the games fault that it's boring, it's just that the type of game has become really old to me. Played too much. And yet I still can enjoy console gaming. SWToR being a more single player game suffers more because it really is like playing a story based console game, and with those you anticipate a beginning, middle and an end. I managed to get to the middle of the story line and then did what I do with console games often, stop playing it for a while till I got the urge again. And yet with WoW it took me like 5 years before I got that feeling... And I was playing WoW all last night and havn't logged this game for two or three weeks. I say all that not cus of my personal view, but that if I reflect a core group of MMO players, no amount of talking up the game is going to make some of us to play. Basically cus we have been there, done that blah blah. Nothing to see here. Bit like watching a film for the hundred odd times. Eventually you are going to get bored. And SWToR just isn't sufficiently different enough, and a lot that is done is done quite badly compared to other games. Issues for me are say the failure to provide sufficient open world exploration and a the lack of a massive visible player base that you can interact with. I guess I'm stuck with Stormwind for a while longer... At least its busy when I log each night.
  22. I am assuming that you are of the view that levelling 1 to 50 is repetitious. If I missed your point then I apologise but I always find this point amusing.... Let me use Rift as an example. I have like 30 characters in Rift and 12 at 50. So far I have run the content to the 50 just 12 times and most of the other stuff just the 30 times max. And yet... players who claim endgame is where its at do the same dungeon every night, the same farming every night, the same warzone every night, the same pug every night, the same content over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over..... And for what ? Shiny stuff. Something to add to their gear and [yawn] achievments. Well here is the scoop the time it takes to kill a mob in Elwynn takes as long as the mob in Mount Hyjal at 80... and Fae was as tricky as Molten Core at the required level. And the reason is the level... Its called equilibrium.. The illusion of progression yet you are always in perfect balance. And if you want to clear faster get the gear... and then just do it again, and again, and again. Thats what pays the subs. So if you want to do Thedeor Fields all day at 1 to 10 or play each character 1 to 50 here in the end it probably means doing less repattion of anything than at 50 and the kill time is always the same. Your not supposed to die in this game... in fact its very hard to die. How you spend your time killing stuff isn't a matter of end game... its just about time. So enjoy what ever makes you happy. I level my mains... I don't have alts... all 6 of them at the moment.... well until this crappy event ends. Till then its Rift, WoW and FIFA. Anyway I'm off to Overwatch, I have a date with Kongeegon... for like the 30th time... ' I am so sorry ' Classic.
  23. Hang on to your old gear is all I can say. Wardrobe has to come at some point, like every other good idea from other games. If they had made the gear good in the first place with a bit of variety then it would have been OK. Sadly the jedi means playing in a potato sack. Gotta be the crappiest gear ever in a game. The designers obviously never played the game cus they would have soon gotten sick of seeing there sacks from behind..... Hoods and capes should toggle off and a Jedi should be able to wear just pants and top..... and way way more variety. Trouble is all your clothes appear on the cut scenes and this may be the issue.
  24. The same as it always has I guess. Haven't played in two weeks so I am assuming it still is there as it was.
