The identity of the traitor in the war for Iokath

Koth already set the precedent for LI betraying the protag and breaking romances if they're unhappy. LI are not above reproach. Also it can't be Scorpio. Tyth specifically stated that this traitor is someone in the inner circle who has hope eroding. Scorpio was already a traitor when she threw her lot in with Vaylin and then went solo. She was no longer in the alliance, thus she couldn't be in the inner circle, thus she can't be the traitor (again). Aside from that, Scorpio never had any hope in the alliance anyway. The Alliance along with the Eternal Empire were simply tools to propel her back to Iokath.

The traitor can't be anyone who can be killed, avoided or refused entry, which is pretty much near every comp with the exception of Yuun and Gault. Yuun is way too short to have been the cloaked figure so counting Gault the only people in the inner circle who could fit the cloaked humanoid traitors profile is Theron, Lana, Hylo or Sanae.

Unless..... it is someone different for every class.... Mako for the BH, Jaesa for a Warrior, Ashara for the Inquisitor, every class has someone who hasn't returned yet Grell, Temple, Risha, and Carson, what if Bioware pulls a full on Coup and customizes the traitor to the class.....

I really can't see them doing that. They made the outlander so they wouldn't have to continue making individual class stuff and they even took away the Empire/Republic divide so everyone is basically one class and faction. We rarely get any specific class mentions so if BioWare tailor made a different traitor for each class I'll go buy a hat and eat it. Also Trooper had all their companions returned.

Yea I agree, I think its Lana or Theron, (sadly) but just tossing it out there

Doubtful. This an arc and Bioware hasn't had the will to do 8 different lines since Vanilla. Ashara is a curious idea tho. Iirc her love letter said something about meeting mysterious friends in the far reaches of space. Could be these gods. However she wouldn't be a traitor to the alliance nor any other class besides the Inquisitor. I don't even think she could wear a hood.

I don't see that happening but if Theron did betray us I'd stop playing the game. Neither Theron or Lana seem like spaced out cultist nutjobs who want you to take the place of the "gods" though.

the writing has been terrible for this patch, there is more plot holes than in a 5 lb block of swiss cheese.

but BW has to go somewhere from here, and as much as having us be the defacto emperor of the galaxy seems awesome, there is nothing to strive for, and our characters will become sort of hum drum.

With that in mind there is nothing to make us "feel" and rage against our situation, than to get it all, and lose it, to someone we trust....

which means its going to be the one closest to us, heck maybe both of them, Theron and Lana together, got tired of following the puppet they drove all the way to the throne, and finally decided to get rid of you and start their life together as the emperor and empress of the galaxy.....

I also thought about that in general. At first I didn't even expect the outlander to be able to claim the throne. It will get boring very quickly if we don't loose our power soon, for now it's fun, but it should drop very quickly. If I try to remeber the moments I really felt with my character they were all based on beeing angry about people above us in the command chain. First would be the agent brainwashing thing, the 2nd one where this jedi ***** killed the other great hunt champions :D

Oh god D: That is a good thought though. I just reeeeally don't want it to be Lana or Theron. Not only does it not make sense, but everyone seems to love them. Or at least like them. Maybe they are going to make it whichever one of them you have pissed off the most. I could see Theron not being on board for a full dark character. And my pure light toon that romances Theron has let Lana down on like every choice... This is very upsetting :(

Oh god, it's gonna be like the traitor in Telltale's Game of Thrones

"I respect you as a leader and I agree with most of your decisions. I'll give my life for you, this alliance and will even treat you like family... BUT YOU DIDN'T GET ME THAT PROMOTION I WANTED SO I'M GONNA HELP THE PEOPLE I HATE AND DOOM ALL THOSE THAT I LOVE. WAAAAAH!"

Koth is a LI you have to drive away though (make the right dark side choices). So, it would still have to be someone who no matter the choices made, would betray you. That is not Lana or Theron. You also forgot the Agyo (sp? Military Alliance) is humanoid.

I predict that this storyline is leading up to an expansion that will be all about the alliance turning on us due to the traitors influence)

i am surprised no one mentioned Tora( the blue hair mecanician)

she's in the story since the beginning, more if you killed koth or let koth run away.

she's smart, surely efficient in sabotage, often around your headquarter. not stable spirit, and we don't know a lot about her.

although i don't think it's her, unless she's a force user becaus ei am sure that the traitor is a force user.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the difference. With Koth the commander could make decisions he doesn't agree with and he leaves the Alliance because he thinks the commander is just as bad as Arcann. What's to stop another from leaving because they don't like the decisions being made? Not liking leadership doesn't need to default to committing war crimes.

Lana for one has a distaste for mercy. She disapproves when the commander is merciful or overtly charitable I.e sparing Jorgan or Kaliyo, Not manipulating the mandos, giving supplies to worlds affected by Arcann's reign, Sparing Arcann, Trying to save Vaylin ect. Could be that she thinks a peaceful commander is too weak to make the hard choices for the greater good of the galaxy. Theron on the other hand has a distaste for brutality. Could be that he thinks a merciless commander is a tyrant that will only drive the galaxy into another age of oppression. Either way of thinking or any other number of ways can drive them to rebel. Sharing a bed doesn't ensure they will always be loyal, it just makes it easier for their blade to catch their lover's back vulnerable and unawares.

Don't forget these two already betrayed their respective factions once to join the alliance and found a third empire because they didn't approve of their leader's decisions. Nothing to say they don't have it in them to do it again for the exact same reasons. And Valkorion did say when I took them into the final fight that one of them specifically would turn traitor. Also got a weird mail from one of the scions at the end with something about my being a dragon, denoting I would be destroyed by the two standing near my throne leaving nothing.

As for Aygo; I thought about it, but he's just as small or smaller than Yuun. Couldn't be him in that cloak unless he was wearing prosthetic height supports. :D Honestly tho I don't think it's any leader of the subdivisions. They serve so little purpose other than upgrading the base and recruiting that to it would be laughably sad due to the lack of personal connection if they actually did turn out to be the traitor.

Eh that was Valkorian throwing **** at the wall and seeing what stuck. He says the same thing when Arcann and Senya are with you.

I hope your right, but I don't think you are, I think for the sake of impact, its going to be Lana, or a combination of Lana / Theron, based on how well they like you. Because if / when we find out one of our specialists betrayed us. I think most will think the betrayer needs to go the way of the Koth, Scorpio, Malavi...... and then who would we turn our daily crates into.....

The Alliance crates is actually the main reason I think Sana is the main culprit. She seems the easiest to replace. If you ever talked to Master Ranos on Odessen, you can find out information about our missing force using companions. In the case of the Inquistor you find out the Ashara has turned her back on both the Jedi and Sith and depending on who you ask she is either a hero in Wild Space helping others or a villain. By no means am I suggesting Ashara to replace Sana but for me it does show how easy it is to create a non-aligned force user. Also even if replacing Sana is out of the question she is Voss. If this was a vision she had the story can always be manipulated to make her a heroine.

The difference is obvious.

Okay. Look at it. Koth will only leave you, if you make certain actions in the game. Those are actions totally against your LI's wishes. If you don't do terrible things, he stays.

Now, what do we know? We know there's one traitor. So, if you did everything Lana would want you to do, why would she leave? If you did everything Theron would want you to do, why would he leave?

This is going by the thought that they (the devs) already know who the traitor is. The only way it can be Lana or Theron, is if your choices never mattered or if they (the devs) have decided there are TWO traitors, but the traitor is based on choices made way earlier.

I personally don't believe it will be Lana or Theron they get rid of. They're valuable to the story and if they get rid of one, they'll have to start writing the story with either Lana and Theron gone (which means new companions for people to start caring about and then likely lose later...as they're not going to use companions who can already be alive or dead) and therefor both voice actors doing the same lines.

It's not a matter of them being unwilling to have a LI walk away, it's a matter of there is ONE traitor and I believe they know who it is already. If that's the case, it can't be Lana or Theron.

True. Tho iirc I think the dialogue is a bit different with Arcann with Valkorian proclaiming that he will back stab you for the throne. Arcann shortly after however relinquishes the throne completely.

Can anyone else confirm that Theron was acting suspiciously in the very beginning or am I being paranoid? He seemed very sad about the conversation he had with the woman on the holo, and then he was sad about whatever was on the datapad the next person gave him. He also acted strangely when Lana was running from the Republic and Imperial forces while you were speaking to her on holo. Just some weird camera close ups and facial expressions. Anyone else notice those?

I really hope the betrayer isn't Theron, my warrior can't take another lover betraying her :(

Same thing could happen here.

Now, what do we know? We know there's one traitor. So, if you did everything Lana would want you to do, why would she leave? If you did everything Theron would want you to do, why would he leave?

We know there is currently one traitor acting alone. We know that traitor is someone in the alliance inner circle of which there are few. However we don't know if that traitor is static, dependent on alignment, personal approval, kotet or Iokath faction choice ect. Yes there is one traitor, but we don't know that the traitor is set in stone. Also it's impossible to do everything both would want you to do seeing as both have conflicting viewpoints on how situations should be handled, with Theron leaning towards mercy and Lana towards Tyranny. Either one or the other is going to be favored as far as decision making goes.

This is going by the thought that they (the devs) already know who the traitor is. The only way it can be Lana or Theron, is if your choices never mattered or if they (the devs) have decided there are TWO traitors, but the traitor is based on choices made way earlier.

Why is that the only way tho and why would choices not matter? If the revelation is the culmination of those choices, then their effect means they mattered. Not saying it can't be two traitors working in tandem but it's also not impossible that the traitor could be one of two people.

Are they important to the story in general or some stories? I for one run my Empire with an Iron fist. Lana fits in well with my Empire because we share similar beliefs and methods, but Theron is like a gold fish in a shark tank. I tire of his whining and near tear filled glares every time I make a decision he disagrees with. He does not fit in nor should he be there. Likewise in my peace brigade, Lana's leaning towards subjugation and control make her look like a lion among bunnies. She does not fit in there. Best to make either killable like the other companions before they stifle their respective commander with their constant contradictions. Of course with a 'forgiveness' choice op for those who want to keep both, like they did with the other traitors.

As for having to write stories with one or the other missing, bioware has been doing that since Kotfe. When a companion can die, their import is simply diminished from star to supporting background character. Not a bad position for advisors.

You're not imagining it, I noticed that too. He looks that way when he's accused of being the traitor too. He looks kind of like he's sad and conflicted about something. Well at least he showed some conflict tho. When I accused Lana of being the traitor she was just 'I thought you trusted me. Guess not. Moving on.' without arching an eyebrow. Did not like that at all. Grand treason is a very serious accusation and for her to just dismiss it so easily as minor trust issue was jaw dropping.

Eh? I didn't notice anything weird, going back and looking at my recording he just has a neutral expression in the beginning. Is my game messed up? :( it would make sense for him to be sad there though since he immediately goes to you about the people of Zakuul begging for resources and aid to help recover from the war. I assume that's what the holo and datapad were about?

Did anyone ever consider Shae Vizsla? A bit of a stretch but she is in both playthroughs and can't be killed. She may not agree with the Alliances approach but there is the small bit about Mandalorians not being for the cloak and dagger stuff. Plus I will admit she wasn't awfully close to your character. But hey, a thought, nothing more, nothing less.

How would she know more about Iokath than we did?
