While searching the forums for good posts I came across this excellent post by Jedi Boadicea. It is lengthy, but very well thought out and I feel is a very articulate and accurate commentary on the new expansion. I would love to read more posts like this and see less of the awful rage-ranting the trolls keep crapping out. Please give this a read!

Hi,

I too am really enjoying this. The niggles for me are pretty minor. I thought I'd breezed through it on one of my mains once I'd done ch IX, but then discovered all the alliance stuff. Going to take me ages to do all of this on all of my mains and alts and it's great! I love going back to the old planets. I'm a PvPer and not even had time yet to complete my WZ daily since Tuesday. Then today I got a Nar Shaddaa Planetary Display decoration in one of those crates and, for the first time since Strongholds was released, I've discovered a decoration that I'd really like a complete collection of.

This expansion has given me things to enjoy that I wouldn't normally enjoy. BW have done a good job with this.

Quoted myself from another thread to bump another positive thread. I have no idea how people can complete all this in 2 hours. I barely took a dent in my health going through the nine chapters and it took much longer than that, albeit while chatting a lot to guildies whilst doing so. All the alliance stuff can't possibly be done in 2 hours. I think some of the alliance stuff might be a bit grindy once I start doing it on other chars, but it will give me something fun to do between WZ pops rather than hanging on fleet.

I like the story very much.

I like gearless companions.

I like all roles companions

I like being able to craft low lvl relics with my artificer.

I like being able to quicktravel to alerts after chapter 9.

I like the legendary player reward.

I like level sync.

I like that they removed the useless clutter from cartel packs.

They cant. Its typical hyperbole of kids in internet.

After plowing through three toons already... I must say... best F'ING expansion ever. Story even better than original SWTOR.

Nice alliance is the bomb. Bioware did exceptionally well with this.

When can I get to drop kick Skadge or Quinn I want to zonk both.

And gimme my Kira and Elara back.

Additional story content has been a big win for me. I have alts of all 8 classes so I will play through on all of them and make different choices. I honestly doubt there's any game breaking choice that will ruin things at the end so I'm not worried if I kill or not recruit one companion. I can grab them on someone else.

The level 60 boost is awesome. I'm an altoholic so I'll grab the opposite spec of a class I like such as inquisitor or agent without having to level it again.

Making every companion able to tank, heal and dps is great too. I used to hate gearing them as well so now I don't have to and can keep the companion I like out all the time. Kaliyo (if I can recruit her) will be out on a lot of toons as well as Vette and Jaesa.

I like the first 9 chapters as being long but not long enough that I won't feel exhausted leveling alts through it.

Overall, Bioware is taking this game in the right direction and has kept me as a subscriber. It may not be the same for everyone but I've enjoyed it and will stick around as long as they keep the fun times rolling.

of the many things about this expact that make me unhappy... there are couple that I'm very much appreciating.

1. holy mother of decorations. so... many new decos and they are not in cartel packs, they are on vendors, drops from solo mode flashpoints (so you don't have to hope rng favors you when it comes to rolls), achievements. that is fantastic!

2. travel to contact/travel to heroic area. best. change. ever. exploring an area for the first time is fun. having to grind your way to your point of interest... over and over.... not as fun. being able to skip that and quick travel directly to where you are going? priceless. now... if only this option was added for recurring events like BBA and such...

P.S. expansion IS short enough to be completed in couple of hours... provided you spacebar through cutscenes. so its not exactly hyperbole. I mean... I'm a slow quester and I was finished with the story on a second day of early acess without skipping cutscenes... but since its a positive thread.. at least I had couple of... "oh, this is cool" moments.

Personally I'm loving this expansion- I think it's awesome and I'm thouroughly enjoying it. My only concern is about the old romances coming back. I hope they make their entrances exciting and dramatic, and that our toons can speak to them fully voiced. My inner romantic is hoping for that.

Thank you bioware for creating scenes where a force user outlander acts out the scene differently than a non force user outlander.

like

joining lana and senya in lifting the ship with the force!

or

the way the outlander fights in cutscenes

scenes like this where you don't know how the other class plays out the scenes differently (in other way than just by dialoguing around) nurture curiosity and give replay value to every chapter.

Please experiment with this even further. I absolutely love it. Make more action scenes with lightsabers, staves and guns!

Well, I've already said nice things in other threads, but I have enjoyed the new story quite a bit and like a lot of the changes. I think the new companions are cool and am interested in seeing how the Alliance system develops - just had the chance to kill someone or recruit them - being my JK, I recruited said person (wasn't terribly fond of said person on my SI, but hey, help is help :p ).

I don't have anything nice to say yet. For people who weren't subscribed by the August date the wait for KotFE seems excessive. With other expansions, it was just a few days. I haven't been playing much, because those with early access are throwing out spoilers. I think this was a bad move by BW. I am a paid player, but I feel like steerage class.

It is awesome.

no go fetch quests, I just played the storyline and leveled up as I went along. Didnt even worry about exp at all, just enjoyed the engaging storyline.

Companion customization is awesome, as well ad the mastery stat. So much more freedom. I was stoked to be able to finally put an imp hat on quinn, of course an hour after that he was gone lol, but nevertheless.

I love that all the okd flashpoints are back and that we can play heroics on all planets, more content is great and revisiting the old is a ton of fun.

One week is really just a few days - you've been sucked into a hype machine if you think otherwise. I can almost gaurantee that as soon as 1 or 2 mos from now you aren't going to care about the wait you signed up for or the spoilers. Bear in mind some people did spend $45+ on their subs just for the early access.

Like the new mission icons of course. Crafting changes are a bit rough now but could prove fortuitous later on.

Legacy wide datacrons, solo and tactical modes for classic heroics, extra character slots, AUTOCOMPLETE list for your legacy when using mail, Speeder at level 1, Filtering and default closed branches for collections, increase of base weapon accuracy to 100 percent, Crew mission list fully visible and mission duration reduced and character selection UI changes, all good IMO.

There is a good amount of positive changes IMO. Most of these changes, I suspect, were borne from community suggestions.

Agreed.

Also: the increased companion affection gains and affection cap (and the proportionate Presence gain they get), the fact that they can now be used as any role, and the class-specific companions' original gear BioWare mailed our characters.

I would agree. Love the fact that my influence rises even if my companion does not like my choice. Brilliant IMO.

Without spoiling too much: the expansion has been completely worth it, a shame that two died (for those of you who haven't played yet i will not reveal who) but the story has been fun I found the scene with HK-55 chasing and trying to kill some pesty critters to be both humorous and awesome, I just wish I could run into some of my old companions from my main alts storyline as side from the one (again trying not too spoil anything for those who haven't played it yet or haven't gotten far)

What are some of the things you like about KotFE so far?

One thing I find great about KOTFE

I can do space missions and level quite well, even on the non-heroics. I bought for the first time ever the +EXP to Space missions perk, clicked the boosts to "EXP while in space missions" (I had 2, with NO IDEA how I got them...).

2 days of doing from Impossible Sector down to Fondor Escort, once each, and I'm level 64, half way to 65... not bad for an hour or so of playing...
