Level Sync needs an Off Button! : ).

I don't see them turning this off due to the fact that the heroics are needed to get the alliance crates that help you advance in the specialist rank. I don't see them seriously letting people just go to a heroic and being able to run through it with no problem and therefore getting the crates easier.

A level sync off button, as well as a tactical flashpoint/HM off button, would absolutely rock. They both seem tied to gear item level syncing, so adding a disabling option should be fairly easy. Which could also work for companions as well. That, and add the ability to dismiss the GSI droids in story mode flashpoints.

People who are against having a level appropriate option brought back (which would not affect their game play in the least) need to be less narcissistic and more open to what benefits the player base as a whole.

A**holes will be a**holes, regardless of system. We had a full group of four level 19 lowbies tonight doing the H2 in Dark Temple on Dromund Kaas in addition to class stories. For 15 minutes we lost out to spawning level 65s with cast times so fast that we couldn't compete. So we gave up.

For leveling characters ... LEVEL SYNC DOES NOT WORK.

Right click the buff icon that looks like a blaster to dismiss the combat droid.

my opinion on this ****?

do it properly or turn this fail off!

atm this h2 thing isn't challenging at any things mean necessary. you need no tactics, what so ever, to kill the mobs. just run into it and kill it. so what is, anyhow, challenging on that crap?

it only takes unnecessarely more time, due to the damn implemented damage nerf (what is the whole effect that took place)!

to me, that's not fun at all!

on the flip side, with advancing through the story, who expects seriously simple mobs on dromund, respectivly coruscant, to be challenging? i mean, your training hard for some amount of time, while your rival enjoys the sunset, it's only natural that you grow stronger than your rival!q

The icon is disabled both in the mission log and on the buff bar. Believe me, I've tried.

[edit] I figured it out. The droid dismisses when I'm playing solo, it just won't dismiss when I'm grouped with another player. Sorry for the confusion. :o

LOL. Thank you but L2P is not the problem. Clicking or right clicking the buff icon in the buff bar does nothing. Clicking or right clicking the same icon in the mission panel does nothing. The problem is that the f***ing droid will not dismiss. Edited by GalacticKegger

Hehe ... to hell with the Founders who survived early access, stuck it out through thick and thin and carried this game. Though truthfully your "get over it" sentiment can't be faulted since it echos Bioware's sentiment in resounding fashion.

I'm a founder. Get over it.

You wouldn't happen to work in Bioware's public relations department would you?

Unoriginal and boring, try again.

Although, given your post a couple of pages ago about how 4 of you weren't even able to tag a even one group of mobs "because level 65's have faster cast times" (paraphrasing slightly) I'm beginning to understand that the reason you want level sync gone is that you are really really bad at the game.

(TL;DR - Level sync works.)

I'm not sure why I'm saying this, seeing as I loathe the level sync system implemented with 4.0.

It does work, it indeed works so well now that you need not bother gearing and can just level your affection with a companion and set your companion to tank and let them do all the fighting for you. While you stand there and just watch, without having to press a damn key.

I find it tedious, boring, lazy game design implemented for no other reason aside from making the game so friendly to new players... that they actually don't need to bother playing the game at all now. Add in the fairly lazy way to "make old content relevant" as well as adding a time sink to the new alliance system.

It's actually so boring that I've stopped running H2 content for the moment, including Star Fortresses.

At least I've tried it, which is more than I was going to do when I heard about it. It's only because of the design of the Alliance system (which I also find disconnected from the main game with that horrible KOTOR conversation system) that I've even set foot on lower level planets in the first place.

Wow. The level of pubescent condescendence around here is sickening. We especially don't need it from those who take it upon themselves to represent the community by telling people who bring up genuine concerns to piss off. Perhaps that's simply how the SWTOR community rolls now. Edited by GalacticKegger

What genuine concerns? You joined this thread with an "I want this just because" type comment with some ridiculous story about not being able to do a heroic with 4 other players because level 65s were taking everything.while insulting EVERY player that wants level sync left as is.

The only players who would feel insulted by additional options being made available to other players are players who feel that their option should be the only one available. Hence my use of the word narcissistic.

As you have taken it upon yourself to stalk me like prey, I will simply do the ticket thing and concede the PvP win.

Merry Christmas.

Why? The game rocked for 4 years without it. What's the reasoning behind disallowing the option to turn it off?

Whats the point in an option for it? Either have it the old way or have level sync. You cant please everyone

You people honestly want to drive away new players by telling them that play style choices don't matter because they don't exist. That any thought creeping into their free little minds about wanting a pre-existing alternative to one-size-fits-all game play will be met with "get over it." Christ, this place really has turned into Little Hitlerville. You can keep it. Good luck with your retention rate. Edited by GalacticKegger

You are conflating two different questions here.

First, there is the question of level sync. As you say, it does work, but not for the reason you say. It works mostly because the game doesn't nerf all of your stats, and because you are synced to the level of the highest-leveled foe, which is usually a World Boss somewhere. The canonical examples are, of course, DK and Coruscant, where normal mobs (even Champions) are at the highest level 16, while the WB is level 18, but I think it's similar on all planets. (Actually, yes. Yesterday my guild did a World Boss harvesting run, and we started with the critter in the zoo on Corellia. Corellia's normal mobs are level 47-50, but players are synced to level 52, because the WB is level 52. It's not impossible I'm wrong here, because I may be confusing it with Section X's WB.)

Conclusion: Level sync is not the obstacle everyone thinks it is. It syncs the player to a higher level than the bulk of the mobs on the planet, with usually one exception, and that exception is the category "World Boss." It does obstruct two specific things: soloing World Bosses (not supposed to be possible) and soloing lowbie FPs in "story" mode.

The second question is the power level of companions for high-level characters/legacies. This is a separate problem, and that can be seen by doing the same thing in a zone where you play at-level, like, for max-level characters, parts of Zakuul.
