I just want to put it down for the record that the way this early access program has been implemented is truly one of the most poorly conceived ideas that I've ever personally encountered in over 25 years of playing video games. I've personally participated in launches of 6 other MMO games, and there is nothing in those experiences that compares to how ridiculous this process is.

When you are dealing with a pre-launch even that is only for pre-order customers, after an extensive and massive beta testing period that was a huge success according to nearly all sources involved - it begs the huge question as to what is the limiting factor in the way you have chosen to roll out this game. I personally participated in the beta in a very limited way (not by choice, mind you, I just wasn't lucky enough to get a key) and was only online during the big Thanksgiving weekend test. That test was wonderful - there were a huge number of servers, and a huge population of testers. The game performance was amazing.

So, EA/BW - what exactly are you afraid of?

The ONLY way this should have been done is to have given ALL pre-orders (perhaps separated only by level of game purchased - i.e. CE customers get 7 days, SE get 5, e.g.) access at exactly the same time. Of course it will overload the servers and queues would ensue and all that - but that's what we all expect. Making your customers wait unknowingly with no idea how long it will be or when to expect an email is just adding insult to injury. A poor alternative would have been to send out emails with a set time and day that your access would be available.

I read in the top post how you are monitoring the server performance and are rolling waves based on server performance. Are you seriously saying you have to wonder at this point if your servers can perform up to the task - when you probably still have 90% of the launch day players yet to even be able to play? That is not at all a good message to be sending at the beginning of an MMO franchise.

At any rate, I love this game. I love BW. But I truly despise and am sickened by the way you chose to put your customers through so much stress for absolutely no good or justifiable reason.

I truly hope you improve, because this is a very very poor way to start out.

I'm gonna enjoy the game once I get in. My favorite posts in this thread are the people cancelling their orders a day before they get the invite. Why is patience so difficult?

In my humble opinion I've found in life that something that starts out all screwed up only gets worse. Whereas when something begins smooth you may get ripples but smooth is how it goes...I'm speaking of business and University here and I believe it follows to friendships and way down to mmo's.

If it's this hard to get it up and running after five years I can understand ppl getting their money back asap.

Just my philosophy.

Ordered my copy a few months ago but wasnt able to get the early access code until a few days ago... #$%&*#@ gamestop! guess I have to wait a few days now.

This. Only I ordered from another company after deliberately choosing NOT to buy from Gamestop because they have a terrible track record when it comes to customer service etc.

Fat lot of good that did me...

Anyways. Love the trolls in this thread, they're really managing to rile the most impatient nerds. Keep up the good work guys :)

For all the people who are saying that ALL preorders should have gotten all seven days of early access...

Don't you realize that, in your scenario, there would be absolutely no purpose for early access to even exist? If they were to let us all have early access the same day, they'd make it start the 18th or 19th. Be happy that they bumped the early access ahead two days. That means that, even if you didn't get in today's waves, you're still going to be able to play the game two days ahead of when you would have before (assuming you preordered before, say, December).

buddy, they are the oners who said early access regardless of what they can and can not do, they said it and its in writing...

can't post a pic, but i'm done. I actually feel good and free now.

Hope you guys enjoy your game, i'm done hoping bioware would do right by its customers, all of them not just a select few. No matter how many posts this thread has bioware doesn't care, they pretty much think you'll all pay regardless of how you're treated, to bad they're probably right as enough people won't cancel to make them go "damn, that was a bad idea".

Im fine standing alone, i'm happier knowing i stood by what i believe is right and wouldn't just accept this kind of treatement. Hell i probably saved myself a ton of time and money, i would have played this game for at least two or three years, plus expansions.

dear <>,

your order has been successfully canceled. For your reference, here's a summary of your order:

You just canceled order #102-8794931-##### placed on september 1, 2011.

Status: Canceled

I thought the whole point of stress test was to make sure servers could handle this many people.. I guess BW/EA is full of dip Sh**ts b/c i mean seriously they stopped workin on there invites going out after only 8hrs.. *** that makes me question things...

Its not bioware's fault. Its neweggs fault for not shipping the new servers on time.

I am sad... I pre ordered first day but due to technical difficulties on my account, i couldnt redeem my code. No one at CS knew what it was... finnaly, after 1 week (2nd August) i created a new account and finnaly redeemed my key...

1 day gone buy and they didnt even complete July yet.... So frustrating.... Coming from a guy that took the first week of December thinking this game should be out by then, only to find it WAS ONLY IN THE NEXT WEEK.... I am trained for this kind of situations lol...

QQ , glad we all get to start on an even playing field. Thanks Bioware! Can't wait to give you more money as displeased as I am about not getting in today. I will still throw money at you for the next few years. Get off your lazy butts and send more invites.

Good Day!

P.S. To all those giving threats to BW. You're 5 dollars doesnt mean @#$% and I look forward to shooting you down in General Chat in the months to come.

WHY ON HEARTH ? Do Bioware/EA not send an e-mail to everyone telling them WHEN they will receive their key ? Or display it in the user page of the website ?????????

I mean, it costs nothing ! and people would not have to rage everyday on the forum and flood F5 on their mailbox.

Agreed.

Poor communication, raising expectations and not delivering, alienating customers....its not a good impression. And this was all terribly predictable. I'm supprised BW was so naive to think this would not happen.

Possibly the worst launch of an MMO ever. No matter how good the game is, alot of SWTOR players will remember this, when BW next promise content, guess what they'll remember.....dont expect blind faith anymore. You've destroyed alot of trust here BW, and its was oh so avoidable.

Yeah, i agree. Being overly cautious can have just as many lasting negative effects.

So what does the waves mean?

First Day (Tuesday, 13.12.) only for July-Subscribers

Second Day (Wednesday, 14.12.) only for August-Subscribers

Third Day (Thursday, 15.12.) only for September-Subscribers

Fourth Day (Friday, 16.12.) only for October-Subscribers

Fifth Day (Saturday, 17.12) only for November Subscribers

Sixth Day (Sunday, 18.12) only for December Subscribers

Seventh Day (Monday, 19.12.) All the "rest" of players...

What should I think about?

It's very disappointing, that I subscribe in August and some other players are just in the game although they subscribed later.
