  1. Yeah, heaven forbid people actually want to play a game to have FUN anymore! Heaven help kids today...
  2. I disagree for a couple of reasons. The first being the combat animations. There is no fluidity with their system. Combat is clunky and unresponsive because alot of the animations are given precedence over the actual instant cast spell's damage. The second reason is that their engine just simply cannot handle a large number of players fighting in the same area without it becoming a lolfest. You will never have epic battles or interesting dynamics with their PvP because of this. These are two very big reasons why PvP is a failure in this game. They are also reasons why SWTOR PvP is not going to be something that is easily "fixable". I think it's clear they had little focus on anything else but cut scenes, dialogue, and story when making this game. Just my humble opinion.
  3. You can have my stuff if you want. I cancelled this morning. The game is too linear, buggy, and just plain NOT FUN. There's nothing that they could "fix" that would get me to come back. It's just a poor, poor choice in the game systems that they chose to use for this game. But if continuing to chase that carrot on a stick is your game...then, by all means, have fun playing still. Peace. Out.
  4. And the sad part is, they're not very successful at it.

    New to Pvp

Hopefully you will not be scarred for life with PvP by your SWTOR experience. Trust me, there are games out there that do it WAY better than SWTOR does. Once you realize that the only tactic is a zergfest, the game ceases to be fun. Best of luck , though...just don't assume that all PvP is like this.
  6. Ah, so you're one of those "the game must be inferior because it doesn't have a subscription" people. Alot of MMO's are doing fine in today's market without the need for a sub. Alot of people tend to think subs aren't necessarily needed anymore either. Subs were a necessity back in the infancy of MMO's because of server and bandwith costs. However, those costs are now extremely cheap, and modern MMO's are taking advantage of the consumer by continuing to charge sub fees when they are entirely unnecessary in today's MMO market. Consumers need to wise up. It's been ingrained in the consumer that your subscription cost somehow equates to a premium service...but that's just not the case anymore.
  7. This blows SWTOR out of the water (not that you can swim in SWTOR anyway...bam!) Everything about this game is what SWTOR should have been. Instead they chose to pour their entire budget into cut scenes instead of advancing the genre in other ways.
  8. Please tell me you are not serious? SWTOR has the worst PvP of any MMO i've every played. It's not even close. Let's see. There are poorly designed Warzones that are nothing but zerg fests; little strategy. Small Warzones (let me know when there's one that's not lol8v8). Warzone objectives that are ripped off straight from WoW. World PvP that serves no purpose. Unbalanced MIRROR classes. Animation and FPS issues. Failed resolve and CC system. The worst UI of any modern MMO. Abnormally long queues. Terrible reward system. No deserter penalty. I could go on and on. Heck, i haven't even mentioned the mess that is Ilum yet. It's fine if you want to be a fanboy. But trying to convince everyone that SWTOR has better PvP than a polished/mature game like WoW is laughable at best.
  9. Lay down the crack pipe, man. WoW's pvp might not be the best around, but it's infinitely better than what SWTOR has to offer. SWTOR's pvp is one of the worst around. I don't know of too many people playing this game solely because of pvp...
  10. Kinda sound like where i'm at right now. Might want to check out Guild Wars 2 when it comes out later this year. It's taking a very different approach to the typical MMO style of play.
  11. Sure, but it doesn't make for a very good game once the "newness" of it wears off.
  12. Yeah, i just read that. Sounds AMAZING. Hopefully it's not one of those ideas that plays worse than the awesomeness that they make it sound like.
  13. I think that's the problem for alot of players. I would venture to guess that a lot of people quit WoW because they were tired of the same old end game; the same old carrot on a stick chase. I'm sure many people were hoping for something different from SWTOR once they reached the endgame. As it turns out, we're given the same endgame concepts as WoW, but just not nearly as polished or fun as WoW's.
  14. The forums! Oh, wait. That's not in the game though. Sorry. I've got nothing then.
  15. Let's have this chat a year from now. This game has zero innovations outside of the voiceovers/story. Combine the beaten to death endgame that SWTOR has with the ultra-linear, on rails levelling system and this game is also doomed for failure.
  16. All the moderation in the world can't save this game. When you design an endgame that copies WoW (i.e. requiring you to chase the carrot on a stick) AND you do it in an inferior manner, then your game is bound to fail. No matter how casually you play (the game) will change that fact.
  17. They are doing homework, watching CSI, or eating a late dinner!
  18. I'm not sure you can objectively compare non-MMO's with MMO's. Non-MMO's offer a much shorter gameplay experience and usually have an ending or they are "beatable" in some way. MMO's are typically judged more over the duration of the game experience, which can last many years. The fun factor is just too different to compare in my humble opinion.
  19. I'd be curious to know what you actually like about the endgame, as your post has nothing constructive about that aspect. But seeing how you haven't even replied again in your own thread, i'm guessing this won't get answered by you either... What makes you like this endgame better than WoW? It's basically the same mechanics, but WoW does it much better and is more polished. Once you figure that out, you will be bored to death with SWTOR too.
  20. Exactly. I just don't see how SWTOR can sustain a high sub rate. Everything about the endgame has been beaten to death already by other games. I would imagine they will lose alot of people once more innovative games are released.
