Amaste
cyberpowerpc.com, you can get a pretty good pc for that amount. ^-- that. Got my pc from them at Aion's launch in 2009. No issues to date *knock on wood* and runs TOR fine. Now I'll probably get home from work and it'll be a melted heap of metal, plastic, silicone and dreams. Jett-Rinn
For those who care: The article showing AMD is not going to be making AMD CPU's nemore. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/AMD-APU-Z-Series-ARM-Tegra-3,14114.html That article is misleading...AMD will still make processors just less of the high performance models.....which sucks I think, my 8 core kicks *** I think they were onto something with a couple more years of design. Aysee
was able to build a system for around $700. getting 70-100fps with all settings maxed at 1920x1200 i5 2500k z68 mboard 8gb memory amd 6870 like others said, use newegg and get a techie/n3rd friend to assemble it for you. Master-Nala
Went to best buy to see about getting a new pc but I only have 950 to spend. The total came to 1060. Mind you I'm running this game on a 6 year old iMac because it's all I have. Love te game but it runs like crap. Still manage to have fun most of the time when I'm not slowed down to a frame a second. Guess I'm just writing this because I'm sad and frustrated. You could build a PC that runs this game like a dream and have $300 in your pocket at the end.

I have always liked AMD processors better, they never did me wrong. Maybe it's just me but I've had bad luck with Intel. Even when AMD started falling behind in the advancement of CPU technology I've always stuck with them.

JerokTalram
DON'T GO TO BEST BUY TO GET A PC. You will be ripped off... Build it if you can.... http://www.pricewatch.com ..buy it if not... http://www.newegg.com http://www.tigerdirect.com http://www.dell.com/outlet Yeah don't buy from tigerdirect unless you know how to RMA hardware with the manufacturer. Tigerdirect's customer service is awful. They have good prices but if you get bad product, you're on your own.
AHChrist
Best Buy lol.... http://www.newegg.com build your own for 600 that will be just as good if not better than the one from best buy. If you don't know how, find someone to do it for you, craigslist FTW. http://www.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingItem.aspx?ItemList=N82E16883157237 Same exact computer from best buy at the same price I bought. Except I bought it a year and half ago. Newegg isn't that hot. BTW, I got it for only 300 because I had a butt-load of holiday inn points that I turned in for best buy points. Blotter
Yeah I looked into that since I had built a of back when the pentium 3 came out. I only have cash though and wouldn't even know where to begin. It's been awhile. Find a friend who knows what to do to put it together or get a book or look online for a how-to guide, then go here for parts: http://www.tigerdirect.com/ They even have kits for it I think. And..... ...good luck.
JerokTalram
While im not into Dell for getting a pc at All, http://www.dell.com/uk/p/desktops?~ck=mn#!facets=64795~0~396642,40187~0~196663,70207~0~462580,40189~0~196670,40186~0~852691&p=1 Lest give him some idear on priceing (no Monitor selected) Not really, Dell cuts corners, especially on the lowend models so their prices might be hard to match. A System built from quality parts will cost more than lowend Dells but the difference will be worth it. They are aot as bad as HP though. I remember best buy got some HP Phenom II 955 or 965 refribs like 6 months after AMD released them. Good Price. I was kind of shocked that a System that looked nice on paper would be a refrib until I saw the power supply. The systems were way under powered. ghettogenius
I picked this up last month when it was $780 with free shipping. Still a very good deal if you ask me. Runs SWTOR at 40-100+ fps on high without optimization. Ill probably upgrade the power supply in a few months, but Ive been very happy with everything so far I havent made many changes other than upgrading video and peripheral drivers. Runs cool with great airflow. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227383
Thugari
It's called get a job, unless you are 14 years old it shouldn't be hard, make a resume, leave it at a bunch of places and someone should eventually call you back, then you can buy your new PC without being angry or frustrated. that statement in itself is really childish. iheartnyc
TOR runs like **** on high-end systems too so don't feel bad. You'll feel worse in a month when you're already sick of this game, wondering why you just dropped a grand on a new computer for it. Runs great for me on my high-end system. Mind you I'm running this game on a 6 year old iMac because it's all I have. Love te game but it runs like crap. Still manage to have fun most of the time when I'm not slowed down to a frame a second. Guess I'm just writing this because I'm sad and frustrated.Right now hard drive prices are highly inflated as a result of a lack of supply. Flooding in Asia forced several major hard drive factories to be closed down. So right now hard drives that used to cost 50 bucks are selling for well over 100. Some other components have seen price bumps too but not nearly as sharp. So overall right now is a pretty bad time to buy a system. In a couple months supplies should be a lot better and that would be a more ideal time to build your own system. For your price range I highly recommend you build a system around an i5 2500k if you can get one at like microcenter for 170 bucks. Not really, Dell cuts corners, especially on the lowend models so their prices might be hard to match. Frankly those prebuilt systems are almost always just complete crap. They use bargain bin components which are of inferior quality and even questionable capability. I've seen PSUs in those prebuilt systems that couldn't even meet ATX requirements and even those that met the requirements had ripple that was just ungodly bad. The quality of capacitors and such used in the construction of the components are typically horrible. You will have little in the way of upgrade options and almost no overclocking potential. I prefer to build my own system even if it ends up slightly more expensive than the bargain bin unit. When I build a system I can guarantee that all the components use quality capacitors and such which insure a long service life. To further save money in the long term my self built systems are always capable of being severely overclocked to insure a longer usable life span in the gaming world. Self building also allows me to insure that I have hardware that is capable of being piece meal upgraded over time. AMD is really good about this as they have a tendency to stick to the same pin layout through generations. My 3 and some change year old system based on an e7200 has been running a 1600mhz FSB with a 3.2ghz OC for the last 3 years. I spent about 350 bucks on it back in 08 and the only thing I've bought since is a 5770 that was on sale and is also OCed. Runs SWtor surprisingly well even with multiple screens (1920x1200 and 1280x1024). Edited February 24, 2012 by Tool_of_Society
Ironspeed
Everyone who plays PC games a lot builds their own computers. It's just more money you save, and you get what YOU want instead of some prefab crap that all of the computer makers make.. I'm just you know posting this from home, where I get paid stupid amounts of money to work from, and currently my Alienware computer begs to differ! (Joking ofc, I wouldent get a alienware)!
