  1. HAHAHAHA. No it wasn't. This game was rebalanced around PvE and that's it. There are serious problems with PvP balance that need to be addressed and not admitting it is not being serious. There was almost no testing of the changes as they effect PvP. BW blindly insisted on doing everything the way they wanted without regard to player feedback. Beta is nothing more than bug testing to them and community response is nothing more than background noise because they're too proud to admit when they've committed an epic fail. The subs numbers are forcing it on them now and they're likely to be even more petulant about it before they finally cave and do things like give us transfers, etc. And BTW, anyone who thinks total healing is indicative of effective, efficient healing needs their head examined. It gives no indication of whether the person came through in clutch situations and it certainly gives absolutely no indication of the absolutely ridiculous misery of being a healer and trying to win a duel. If you think that any class shoudl have the problem of needing to be babysat and unable, or at least at severe disadvantage, in a 1v1 duel with any other class, then please see previous comment about needing your head examined.
  2. Obviously his signature said "50 Marauder, Sentinel..." so he's just another bad player who likes rolling FOTM and wants more advantage for his OP faceroll class.
  3. Also, I find it somewhat odd that this is the case. I mean, I can generally get my first medal in Huttball, for example, within like 3 seconds of the first screen door dropping because someone on my team got nipped by the fire trap with my bubble on them while running into position....so the game is clearly capable of detecting it. Now I begin to wonder whether it was a purposeful decision on BW's part to make them unlogged
  4. What the heck good is the parser information without the bubble being included in the healing information? I mean, this is totally ridiculous BW. Seriously. What made you think skipping it was appropriate? Whatever ID tags allow parsers to recognize a Resurgence versus a Dark Infusion and report them...that needs to exist for Static Barrier too or the combat log is entirely useless for Sorcs/Sages healers. The bubble is an instant cast, set-it-and-forget-it damage mitigator that cannot overheal and absorbs 3000+ damage. IMHO, it's one of the most ridiculous heals available to us (even though it proves somewhat less useful in PvP than PvE). But, of course, it also initiates the GCD. Therefore, a healer doing his job well, but whose play style relies more heavily on keeping people bubbled as much as possible...as opposed to, say, someone who conceptualizes it as only an emergency thing...that person is going to look, unfairly and inaccurately, like his HPS is low in comparison because all the damage mitigated by all his bubbles doesn't even show up in the analysis. USELESS. People trying to determine if they use it enough or should use it more or whether the bubble is good in certain fights versus a different rotation, etc....they can't do that because the data simply doesn't exist. Now, we can all argue all day long about whether bubbles should be spammed or used sparingly in favor of some other heal, but we've no real way of knowing or learning anything about the best way to use our bubbles, how effective they are in certain fights, etc., other than theorycrafted fuzzy math and peoples' argumentative opinions BECAUSE WE CAN'T MINE THE DATA. Personally, I've seen amazing healers from both schools of thought, so I think it's really more of a style thing when you're talking about someone who really just knows their class and has good reaction times and awareness. To be fair, I admit that I tend to be bubble-centric myself, so yeah, I have a little bit of vested interest here, but this should be something that ALL sorcs/sages want as part fo the combat logs, so we can ALL learn from it. Who knows...maybe I find out I should use it less or maybe we find out it should be used more....dunno until we have the data, which is currently hidden from us.
  5. Ah, well, that pretty much renders them useless for sorcs/sages as far as I'm concerned. I've seen several different play styles from good sorcs, some which rely heavily on the bubble and some which conceptualize it as more of an emergency tool...others somewhere in between. Someone relying on it heavily is going to post lower numbers and HPS than the latter if the only things considered by the combat log parsers are direct heals while ignoring bubble usage statistics. That kind of incomplete picture renders skewed logs that are virtually useless for someone who is wondering whether they should use the bubble more or use it less. It initiates the GCD, and it's part of the healing output rotation, so using it without it registering and identified in the combat log lowers the HPS reported by the parser. And yet, it's essentially an instant set-it-and-forget-it heal that cannot overheal and mitigates 3000+ damage...so it's one of the most delicious and effective things a sorc/sage healer can do. In my opinion, it's a significant part of the rotation and its absence from the combat log parsers makes them very uninformative for us. Not that it's your fault, because the parser is honestly awesome, it's just another complete mess up from BW...this time on the combat logs...so I'm just posting this on the off chance BW reads this and actually recognizes that I'm right hehe
  6. Why am I not seeing anything for Static Barrier in the healing logs? Dark Heal seems to be coming up missing too in a lot of cases. Yes, we can all have a wonderous debate about whether Static Barrier is really a "heal" or not, but the reality is, it contributes significanlty to damage mitigation and should be reported, whether yuo consider it a "heal" or something else. Otherwise, one has no way of knowing how effective their use of it has been and cannot use the data to improve. A person who relies heavily on it versus someone who barely uses it will show up on the log as having lower HPS, but may have actually mitigated a lot more damage overall.
  7. No. Analogy fail. If you want to go there, it's more like a rogue stealthing up to the flag in WSG and then getting to stay in stealth with an invisible flag while running it back to his own base...only to reappear once the flag gets capped and he starts attacking someone. There are work arounds for this problem, it's true. Suggestions that include increasing stealth detection if available or casting AOEs....those can help. BUT, the fact remains that it is NOT the manner in which the developers meant for capping the bomb to work, which makes it a BUG that needs to be fixed so that initiating the bomb capping timer pops them out of stealth. Edit: Ah, just saw the post about it being a spawn bug...so even worse for people pretending they get to tell people to L2P. Broken game is broken. Learn 2 recognize it.
  8. "What's killing SWTOR?" Two words: developer hubris.
  9. That's what they get for not listening and instead just arrogantly making changes that we warned them about. I was a big defender of the game until 1.2. After that, the developers proved me 100% wrong for defending them and proved that they have their heads firmly wedged in their backsides. That they've put off transfers or mergers so long out of prideful denial and wishing to avoid bad publicity is just the cornerstone of all the problems...and it made it ALL far worse that they chose to lose subscriptions instead of losing a little face with the transfers/mergers.
  10. My sarcasm only made sense if they were marauders pre-1.2 as well. Ergo, you just failed trying to rebut it.
  11. BW plays marauders..that's what was so bad about pre1.2 balance as far as they're concerned :-)
  12. Probably the most accurate theme music post-1.2:
  13. LOL...regardless of whether I agree about Mara, Sorcs, etc being OP or needing nerfs or whatever....that video is still funny every single time I see it hahaha
  14. I doubt it. Past behavior is prelude to future behavior. BW's unmitigated arrogance regarding almost everything to do with 1.2 tells me that there's no re-balancing coming at all in the near future. They either truly believe they got it right OR will force us to live with it just out of spite while they work on things that have more to do with marketing the game than enhancing the experience for people already playing.
  15. Now you're just being purposefully obtuse. Sorc/sage is the only caster in the game. What's hard to understand about that? it was one of the major reasons why there was a slight...YES, SLIGHT...population shift towards them as most popular toon. However, it should be noted that people claiming they were 50% or 30% of the population are dead wrong based on BW's numbers at the guild summit. They had a 2-3% point advantage in population or somethign like that. Anyhoo, when someone is talking sorcs or sages in this manner...the nerfs, strats, builds, etc....they generally mean both of them (but you knew that).
  16. After 1.2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHrJDniAgis Pretty much sums it up. Pre-1.2, nothing beat the AC/DC Bag (Phish) jam from 12.30.97 during WZs (except mayne the Jiboo from 2.20.03). Phunktified :-)
  17. We remain the ONLY casters in the game. FIFY
  18. QFT. We got nerfed so hard primarily because baddies playing other classes cried. Well, that and the fact that BW was focused on PvE nerfs to make the content harder and didn't give the slightest thought to the consequences for PvP.
  19. This is where I start believing YOU have not actually played the class or are just using this as a way to fluff your epeen. NOBODY...I don't care how good they are...was "invincible" against 4-5 people pre-1.2. That a load of complete crap and a falsehood sold by baddies who didn't know how to fiht a sorc healer pre-1.2. The only time you could survive focus fire from 405 people was with proper guards, taunts, cross-healing etc., from your teamates. That's not debatable. It's 100% truth. Claiming you had somehow figured out how to survive all by yourself against 4-5 people just makes you look like you're one of the non-sorcs trying to justify the nerfs because you're super enjoying the new easy-kill mode. We're not "fixed" unless you're using the word the way a vetrinarian would. There are serious issues with healing spec survivability and viability in PvP, and there is NO justification whatsoever for forcing us to forgo our 31 point healing talent in order to load up with crowd control, roots, etc., just to be able to survive. You've given no justification for it and neither has BW and I've yet to see anyone give one on thse forums either. It's just "dude, hyrbid now mandatory and I'm awesome for accepting that and believing it is just fine. You have to agree with it or it means you're bad. Nobody is allowed to be 31 point healers and everything BW does is ok because I don't mind being forced to change to a gimped healing spec." Well, alot of people do mind...they mind alot...and don't like having their fun nerfed simply because BW hasn't the firrst clue what they're doing with PvP class balance and so they made a whole bunch of PvE-oriented changes with foreseeable, but ignored, PvP repercussions. As for claiming we should be an easy kill, that's total crap and yet another reason I think you're just faking that youplay a sorc. It's yet another thing there is no justification for: healers being an easy kill who cannot survive even 1 person coming at them and focusing on them. That's a DPSer's kind of thinking. Full spec healers should be allowed decent survivability and shoudl be able to actually wina 1v1 fight. Turning us into team-dependent easy kills who need to be babysat the entire match sucks all the fun out of playing for alot of people. Good for you that you don't mind being a gimped healer who had to load up on DPS tree crowd control talents in order to salvage a little survivability. However, that's not acceptable to a lot of people and we're going to keep complaining about it no matter how hard you try to establish with faulty logic and zero underlying justification that in order to prove ourselves good at the class we have to just take it lying down, accept it and re-spec to work around the issues. You want to talk about what happens in MMOs? This happens every time there is a nerf too: a couple dudes rush to the forums because they like some new spec that the class is forced into and then they pretend that the new spec means that there's no problems at all, claiming that anyone who disagrees with them doesn't know how to play their class. Most people don't agree with the extent of these nerfs. BW will eventually try to un-nerf the class in some fashion and people are going to voice their distaste for the over-nerfing until they do. You trying shut everyone up by arguing we should L2P and just accept it and play the way you think we should now play is just an attempt to keep people who want to play a full heal spec from having the fun they should be able to have.
  20. Thank you for starting with a false premise in order to construct a straw man mmischaracterization of what I said. It's ever so legitimate to just change what I said to something mroe convenient for you to argue against. FIrst, we were never invincible. NEVER. That's a lie and just the mad rantings of bad BAD players who had no idea how to use their cc/stuns/mezz/silence/interrupt abilities to lock us down. It's also a result of a couple other things: 1. DPS classes think that healers (a) should not be able to survive getting attacked by a DPS class, (b) should NEVER be able to actually win in a 1v1 situation and manage to kill a DPSer and © shoudl have ZERO chance of surviving focus fire, such that if the team is organized and focs fires healers, it can 100% remove them from the fight (all of which, of course, is wrong as all get out). 2. If your team is playing right, the healer getting focus fired is guarded, taunts are going out, people are peeling attackers off you, etc. Morons who kept whacking away at the healer under these perfect circumstances perceived it as the healer doing it all by himself. That simply NOT TRUE. Second, it has NOT altered 'slightly." For a full healing spec to be reduced to borderline viability (almost not viable) such that we are being pigeonholed into a weak hybrid that is loaded up with stuns/roots/etc instead of being able to take our 31 point healing talent and other talents...that is a MAJOR change, not "slightly altered." That you "still have fun" getting your head knocked off any time you play a team comprised of reasonably good players who focus fire the sorc healer first, then spending tons of time dying repeatedly and waiting for the timed lockout barrier to drop...that has nothing to do with whether BW has made severely stupid design decisions in hoe they've treated sorcerer healers. Many MANY people are not having any fun whatsoever trying to play their sorcerer healer anymore. They'ev quit, switched to an alt, rolled a new class, rolled DPS instead...a whole host of things...and that's indicative that there is a problem. Your cnodescending claim that "aaaw, I'm gonna assume you don't know how MMOs work and you must not realize this just happens when there are nerfs." I've yet to ever see a reaction to nerfs as thoroughly negative as this one in any MMO I've ever played...and I don't need you "teaching" me how playing MMOs works. Third, all you did just now is resort to the fallback of saying "I have no argument to counter what you said, so I'm just going to level an ad hominem attack at you and claim you don't know how to play your class." Good for you. I know perfectly well how to play my class and you insulting me by claiming otherwise doesn't change it. I've been in full BM gear for quite some time and am quite recognized on my server as someone who needs to have a targetting icon over his head in ever WZ for a reason.
  21. You again? Selling more of your "hybrid is a perfectly legitimate pigeonhole for BW to force us into" nonsense? Look, I don't give a crap that a gimpy hybrid spec has become slightly more viable than a full healing spec. IT IS BAD DESIGN. PERIOD. You can disagree with that all you want, but that's my position whether you like it or not. It has nothing to do with "oh, well, at least we have a work-around by going hybrid." Rather, it has everything to do with BW having a horrible design philosophy and ZERO understanding of what people consider to be fun and enjoyable and fair. There is absolutely NO justifiable reason to force us out of a full healing spec in order to be viable in PvP and have survivability. NONE. My healing should NOT have to be gimped in order to continue to play my class competetively and I should not be punished severely for taking my 31 point healing talent if that is the style and role I wish to play. Now run along...nobody wants to read you patting yourself on the back and pretending you have it all figured out and know how to play better than everyone who disagrees with you. You're just carrying BW's water and it's people like you who will provide BW with the justification for not fixing the problems they've created.
  22. <50 sorcerer healing in PvP is absoltuely meaningless. Get him to 50, spec him full corruption, experience the constant PvP rectal exam, and THEN come back here to tell us "sorc healers is fine and teh bestest"...link the videos that prove it too.
  23. All I'm hearing is "I still have fun playing under conditions that everyone else considers unfun, so there's nothing wrong." Sorry, but being reduced to a bubblevending target dummy is OBJECTIVELY broken. No ifs, ands or buts. If you still find that fun, you are an outlier, an exception to the rule.
