  1. The fact that the enemy can see your aoe targeting reticle is just plan dumb. Sometimes I only need to flash the reticle to get enemies to run away.
  2. First rule of object-oriented programming - Build it so it can be re-used again and again. Second rule of object-oriented programming - We do not talk about object-oriented programming.
  3. Would be cool if there was a lightsaber component like an emitter or beam focus that would allow for adjustable lightsaber widths and hues. A missing facet of the games crafting capabilities.
  4. I never cleanse on my dirty fighting gunslinger. To do so would require points in surrender which I find less than ideal for PvP. It would only cleanse movement effects anyways - better to just tough out the 5-12 second effects. I am ranged after all and I have Nice Try specced to reduce periodic effects by a meager 15%. Dont think theres any other skills available for GS cleansing. Are there?
  5. They should have made the crafting process generate a crystal within a specific hue range so that there would be noticeably different color crystals available to all. I suspect they are holding back some colors to have something players can earn in the future. They need carrots you know.
  6. Eh why not? Like a regular lightsaber is any more "believable". I imagine if you can keep the blade from reaching out to infinity then you can bend it a bit as well.
  7. It simply amazes me the divisions that they throw down in this game. There's already a huge wedge between the PvP and PvE crowds, but this is unavoidable in contemporary MMOs despite the issues of balance it conjures up. But then to go an divide the PvP community with this rated/unrated crap. I dont mind the separate queue for premades but IMO all warzone participants should be subject to a rating over time.
  8. Show me one person that augments their recruit gear. Hell, most people dont even augment BM given the current cost. Not to mention every grinders claim that it takes about a month to get WH - so why waste money on BM augments? Personally I would augment BM, because it would take me alot longer to go from there to WH. However, I have nowhere near the credits for that so it wont be happening. Based on this I would say the OPs chosen metrics are pretty accurate for most average players.
  9. This is a good post. But boni is not a real word. Still a good post though.
  10. This made me laugh. So let me get this straight. I'm supposed to grab 2 people i know and form a group, THEN queue up in the group finder? Where do these first 2 people come from? What if you want to run a mission that they dont? Unfortunately I think you are missing our point. The automation and lack of flexibility the current group finder has is severely limiting. These shortcomings are quite evident based on many peoples posted experiences with the tool. Its like BW is trying to minimize the human factor in determining groups by limiting your input to: 1) role and 2) mission, thinking this will make it easier and build more solid groups. Sadly the human factor is also present in their code. I shall repeat my mantra. "Copy the DDO group tool". You wont find anyone over at DDO complaining about the group tool. I'm sure there will be changes made to the tool over time, I'm just hoping they remove the automation, add an accept/deny mechanism (at the beginning and not after 40 mins of waiting for group to form lol - this right here is monumental failure), and a place to advertise/select groups forming other than the chat window.
  11. This. 100%. Who the hell was asking for this auto queue shiz? Don't you guys want a little control over your group? The auto queue can barely be seen as successful for the warzones. "Copy the DDO group tool", is my mantra. RNG is good for alot of things, but forming groups is not one of them.
  12. Just reread most of this thread and it seems everyone is missing a very important detail. Dual spec within ACs only does absolutely nothing for Mara/Sent and GS/Sniper. So these DPS ACs can respec into ... DPS? Just sayin. Seems BW shot themselves in the foot here with their twisted mirrors. My guess is they will eventually adopt a system for total respec within base class or risk alienating a good portion of players using those ACs. I used to be against AC switching, but after playing through several story lines multiple times and also coming to the realization that class story has very limited replayability - this has changed my mind. Not to mention the fact that several ACs will just see no benefit. I could see it implemented as a permanent change (on a timer), either accessed through high lvl legacy perks + credits + rare drops or through a micro transaction (kinda like DDO reincarnations), which honestly I am ok with. Gives people more reasons to play, not less.
  13. The randomness of the GF is retarded . Why cant they just provide a screen which shows what groups are forming, then I could click on the one I want to join and either be accepted or denied. When the group is full it is removed from the list. If I want to start a group I select a few dropdowns or checkboxes which dictates the mission I want to run, roles I need filled, and a small personal note which indicates any special info such as: "Quick run, pls spacebar" or "casual first time run, no spoilers pls", so people know what theyre getting themselves into. If someone drops, the leader could place the group on the list again to pick up another group member. Those coming in late would get less xp, not reset the mission entirely. See DDO. Too much inflexibility in the system as it is right now. Take this auto queue crap back to wow please. I mean, I really hate to *****, I really do, but this just does not live up to my expectations and I really didnt think what I outlined above was out of line.
  14. Logically, the beginning of the FP is where you should be dumped if you exit at the end. I mean this is where you entered and this is where you logically end your group experience. This especially makes sense if its a dungeon/quest with only 1 entrance and exit. Plus, some FP arcs require you to run around in exteriors to advance the quest arc. But seeing as they allow a shuttle from wherever you are questing, they should probably allow for a return shuttle if that is how the user got there in the first place.
  15. I develop web apps and web services, some windows and mobile apps too and honestly the development time seems about right. Even small tweaks to big systems can take alot of time and it can be difficult to predict the actual amount of development time necessary. Sometimes you need to get in under the hood to see whats wrong before even starting repairs for instance. Those components (group finder/legacy perks/etc) are way more complex and in depth than many people realize. The scope of the game and the code that supports it is quite complex and I'm sure that being object oriented in nature, there would be many dependencies which need to be accounted for every time there is even a small change in functionality. Also, remember that the server merges kinda took over the last development cycle by necessity which probably forced BW to shift resources a bit. I am sure they are busting *** writing code and testing. Unfortunately that doesnt necessary imply I am happy with all of the results - but that is another post.
  16. Sad to say that Im not digging the group finder so far. Spent over an hour in a queue for Maelstrom last night on Fatman as a GS. Just ran the last of my class quests on Hoth as I was queued and it never popped. Its possible I wasnt using it correctly but I was unimpressed by the interface. I really dont like the hands off auto queue approach. I said time and time again they needed a lightweight application type process (like DDO) where leaders can build their groups selectively. I cant see what other groups are forming. Maybe if I saw that a Red Reaper was filling up quick I would bail on this sad attempt to form a MP and run Reaper instead, but no, I cant do that can I? Maybe if the group was having trouble getting a healer or tank, then one of us could relog and change the group composition. The system as it is cant adapt and its really sad. Just a bit disappointed, maybe I'll have better luck with it tonight.
  17. I left my legacy level 18 toons on another server before I had to manually reroll in order to salvage any respectable game play. Several legacy levels into that server it died a horrible death and I rerolled again this time on Fatman. The mechanism that was supposed to be fun, engaging and was to permeate throughout my toons lifetimes was rendered impotent by mere server populations. Aside from that the benefits are lackluster and extremely overpriced for anyone who did not take slicing in week 1 or take advantage of the dupe bug that popped up not long after. Not to mention the total unbelievability in terms of a "family" sense - and that is saying something for sci fi video game. I guess it just doesnt appeal to me. Aside from the Chapter 2 class buff bonuses I dont see much of a benefit and even that is circumstantial. When it comes to 1.3 ... I got a bad feeling about this.
  18. I dont know. My GS could use some augmented guns. Perhaps your prices are a bit inflated? I often see orange gear listed for way more than Im willing to pay. Min lvl 50 is one thing even tho it would end up with same mods as a lvl 15 orange, but still some of the prices are way out of control. 85k-100k for an augmented lvl 15 orange is just way too high for myself. At those prices you are specifically targeting hardcore re-rollers with huge banks. Most casual leveling players simply cannot afford those rates. Just saying.
  19. Whatever, I always have to laugh at those claiming concealment ops are gimp lol. I've played both concealment and darkness and can say theyre both alot of fun. With force powers assassin is more ranged than you may think while conversely ops with their vibroblade are more melee than you may think. Both are quite mobile with assassin maybe edging out op a bit. Im telling you nothing pisses reps off more than stealthy ops shiving you in the back over and over. Comes down to gameplay feel for me - do you want a lightsaber or a blaster rifle. Also op story is much better in my opinion. Furthermore, as op you can respec AC from concealment to medic for one of the best healing specs available. Something to think about.
  20. Not sure why youre complaining. You cant fight indefinitely, and when youre behind enemy lines you can expect the enemy to gang up on you with or without companions. This wasnt nearly as bad as the time on Alderaan I caught an Assassin in stealth with my GS, opened up on him and we went at it. It was close, but at 10% he freaked and ran. I tried to chase him but didnt have position or energy so i let him go. As Im running back to the safety of our little outpost - I get dropped by his companions aimed shot lol.
  21. Funny you mention ops, the only two times this has happened to me was vs ops when they jacked me with or right after backstab which faceplanted me. Respawned on my face unable to get up. Must be their new ability "Stay Dead".
  22. Don't listen to this guy ^ He's obviously jaded for some reason or another. There's no substitution for experience and his suggestion only hurts you while only possibly helping him. Toons in their teens level quickly and I've seen some classes contribute quite nicely during those levels. There are low level teens in every warzone - if not you then someone else for sure. Sure you'll get tossed around a bit for awhile but that is of course the nature of PvP progression. If you're having fun then keep at it.
  23. - You guys really suck (to their own team) Hehe the pug team may very well suck, but IMO its a huge sign of a poor sport to belittle your own team. Especially while youre still on the playing field.
  24. I can see your point of view there, but honestly SWTOR is no McDonalds of the MMO world. Its more like the Chipotle Grill lol. If quality over quantity is your thing then I would think SWTOR is exactly where you want to be. If not that's cool, I guess you could always go play that other Star Wars MMO.
