  1. No gamer is equal to another gamer, you'll have a lot in common with some gamers and you'll have almost no similarities with other gamers. That's why it is almost impossible to define the true hardcore player and the true casual player. I don't think the hours played or the goals a gamer has will define whether someone is hardcore or casual. It's probably more the way you look at yourself as a gamer.
  2. Well, I must be one of those rare people visiting this forums that started at pre-launch and still enjoys the stories. I somehow like the stories after the first character even better, because I don't have to figger out anymore all sorts of details that have to do with game mechanics. The stories differ enough to keep me occupied and interested. I'm also looking forward to legacy, I love to create a familytree. For me the community is no real problem, because I have friends and family on several servers, so grouping is never a problem.
  3. Try playing a darkside jedi knight and I'm sure you'll have a laugh.
  4. My husband and I hitted social V in 10 minutes from each other. We did all quests together.
  5. In fact having no day/night cycles, arena's and a raid focused community is a pre for me. It all burns down to taste.
  6. Well, I bought D3, I bought Kingdoms of Amalur, Skyrim, but those are just nice diversions from a MMO, they won't replace them. And I would be so very much surprised if BW would decide tostop with this game in a month, so yes this game will survive till 1.2.
  7. It's good so many older people play SWTOR. Me and my husband are far past the age of 40, but luckely from all the games we played before we know already a lot of "oldtimers". That's why we spread thin over 3 servers already. But if at any time we need a guild for 40+ players, we know where to look now
  8. Indeed, after playing my consular completely lightsided, I decided my knight should be the opposite.
  9. My Jedi consular is the world most friendliest, helping everyone out. By now she is married to that handsome Iresso (after customization) and of course she is the best wife around. My Jedi knight on the other hand is annoying, full of herself and she hates Kira by any means. Als that pile of junk, the droid gets only insults. She also disobeys her bosses whenever she can. In fact she thinks she should rule the world. My bountyhunter thinks mostly about the money, but sometimes when she's in a good mood, she suddenly offers to help people out. I think she is in her heart not really bad, but you know circumstances force her to go after the money.
  10. Although part of the players thinks that MMO's are about raiding and endgames, there are also people who play MMO's for lots of other reasons. I did only a few raids (like maybe 10) in 10 years of playing MMO's. The main reason why I don't raid is that I don't want to schedule my gametime. So the only raids I ever took part in where those when I happened to be online and have time. If I had ever thought raiding was fun, I might have done a few more, but honestly my experiences with raiding were mostly quite boring. After hitting 2 hours the same buttons and forseeing that I still had to hit those buttons another 2 hours or so, I really got impatient to go do something else. It looked quite similar to a boring job. Let alone the fact that for serious raiding I should do the same instance 20 times or more..Sure, I think they should cater raiders as well, but it's not high on my priority list when it comes to MMO's.
  11. I think also a reason is that more and more people play MMO's with rl friends/family/collegues. MMO's have become more mainstream over the last few years, so the chances that you know people near you who play MMO's have increased as well. And it's more fun to talk about the game you played last night together than about the weather.
  12. The best possible solution will be to just add new chapters on new planets to our story imo.
  13. If I consider people friends, I know at least their name (and a whole lot more actually).
  14. I chose crafting skills on what I liked, not on what was über. I always knew they would eventually make all crafting skills equally valuable.
  15. My friends with whom I play this game are allowed to make mistakes, I enjoy their company. If we fail, we just do it once more. Thus I don't need full combat logs.
  16. I started in early access and still love the game.
  17. It seems to me that all these disgruntled people on the forums still have a subscription. 1.7 million it is, and that is quite a lot for a western MMO.
  18. That's exactly what the numbers EA released today say. The number of subscribers is still the same as last month. 100% retention rate btw (although I presume some left and some started)
  19. 45 and I know plenty of MMO players in their 40's.
  20. This is such a useless conversation by now. I'm sure that when they officially announce that there are over 2 mil subs, people will insist that the numbers are dropping. I'm only curious why people, who are subscribed to this game, only want to talk doom.
  21. I agree with OP, and anyway there would not be a reason to pay a subscription fee if they didn't intend to add content and improve the game over time. I think they delivered a nice first step where people had a good leveling experience (and a lot of people still have).
  22. As long as they pay, what is really the problem?
