  1. Do you remember what the game was like at launch? Post-transfer, it's like that. On steroids. With all of the good, and bad, that comes with it. I really like my guild, but if they had been foolish enough to stay on the old server, I would have said my polite good-byes, and transferred. Fortunately, they aren't that foolish. One benefit I have not seen mentioned yet - I admit that I do not scour the GTN daily, but since transferring, I have seen things on the GTN (Orange gear, mostly) that I didn't know existed at all. Great stuff, including the outfit I really wanted for my Sentinel, but never saw as available in a moddable form. My Smuggler now has that outfit, too. This is just my opinion, OP, and in your world, it shouldn't matter for squat, but I say - transfer, without hesitation, and don't look back. Don't look back. Riôt
  2. I never said anything about your level of skill on your Assassin. Having run everything in the game sans Lost Island, I can't recall any point in any Operation (or Flashpoint) where the Assassin's Stealth and CC would cause me to choose an Assassin tank over any other. That matters. Being more flexible with dailies...doesn't. Of course, they must have been bad dps. Immortal dps is being nerfed though. Think about that. Just for a second. Riôt
  3. The heroic dailies are designed to be done by 2, or more, players. Take away your Assassin's stealth and long CC (thus, bringing this parity you speak of between classes), and you aren't soloing anything that your Juggernaut can't. Since you aren't that good at the Juggernaut class (shown from the content of your many complaint posts), perhaps you wouldn't see this as the truth, but it is true, nonetheless. I have both, and I play both very well - both are capable of soloing the same heroic 2's, and both reach their *limits* in about the same place. I feel like I've said this same thing to you before... I run primarily Immortal, and I can keep up with most dps when doing dailies. Not all, but most. Perhaps you don't have sufficient dps as Immortal, but I do. Regarding abilities that actually matter, any disparity is minor, at best. You are asking for parity in abilities that don't *actually* matter. Being able to solo heroics (that are not designed to be solo'd, even though they can be), is not something that actually matters. Riôt
  4. I have not been a fan of this change since the PTS notes first became available. All they had to do was increase the Threat on Smash and Sweeping Slash while in Soresu, and the bads would be able to have easy AE Threat. That's it. This change is attempting to kill 2 birds with one stone, and I just don't think the Immortal PvP damage bird needed to be killed in the first place. Riôt
  5. It keeps anyone I don't want in my mailbox, out of my mailbox. *Outlandish* characters? I see something like this, and I no longer wonder why people outside of the U.S. hate us. Riôt
  6. Actually, I thought the OP stated quite clearly that she thought the exterior graphics for the ship(s) were too large. I am aware of the reasoning behind the higher ceilings - they don't bother me at all. Also, as I did with the OP, I will refer you to pretty much any of the 6 Star Wars movies - a very large percentage of important objects/buildings etc are very large, and grandiose in nature. That feature in this game is hardly out of place for the Star Wars universe. Riôt
  7. I'm curious as to what your definition of this is, because once the Group Finder and Rated Warzones are here, the only thing this game won't have that...others...do, are the crutches. You know, macros, UI's that play the game for you, that kind of thing. Riôt
  8. No MMO that I have ever played has allowed a choice in destination when the purpose is to rebalance/shift the population. The playerbase, as a whole, cannot be trusted to execute this properly on their own. Paid transfers, on the other hand, are a different story entirely. This can be put in the players' hands, and should be. The reason this works is because the playerbase en masse doesn't use it, and certainly not all at the same time. A person is an intelligent, rational being. People, are stupid, panicky creatures. This is fact in all facets of life, and is the reason why these transfers are being handled in a controlled fashion (read: the right way). I can't tell you how bad I feel for you, that you got *stuck* in the situation of having all of your characters on different servers pointed to the same destination. I didn't get *stuck* in that same, terrible situation. Should Bioware have thought of me, and my situation before starting transfers? The answer, appropriately, is *No.* But wait, I'm a special little snowflake, so I'll go ahead and tell you all my situation, too. My main Legacy server has yet to be flagged for transfers. This could mean that I will get the shaft in terms of population, so I may have to choose to abandon that Legacy, and start building the one on my secondary server...which is sitting very pretty right now, post-transfer. This means I would have to leave behind (or remake) my favorite character to play, not to mention my guildmates and friends. Despite what some of you armchair-devs might think, there is really only one right and best way to do this, and Bioware is doing it. I am happy with how it is being handled, and even if I have to make the aforementioned difficult choice down the road, I will still be happy about it. Everything that I have *worked so hard to build* can be rebuilt, with the exception of my Cyan crystal collection. I seriously can't believe you have the audacity to complain when all of your characters are being pointed to the same destination. A great many of the people in these forums would kill to be in that boat. Riôt
  9. 10/10, OP. 11/10 if you did it by accident. 12/10 if you have no idea what I'm talking about. Also - I find the term *gaming laptop* to be an oxymoron. Riôt
  10. You need to watch Empire Strikes Back again. Both the escape from Hoth, and Cloud City landing pad scenes were shot using a full scale model of the Falcon, and those are the only two shots it was used. It still exists, btw, if you cared to know. It's big. Very similar to the smuggler ship, in fact. The X-wings and Y-wings too, are larger than what you seem to think they are. Also - sometime in the year before the game launched, it was stated that the ships are a 1:1 ratio. What they meant by this (and also stated), is that the exterior of the ship is constructed so that it looks like it would actually hold what you see while inside it. Riôt
  11. This is where your ignorance comes in. Yes, they certainly are. Gamebreaker wasn't, orginally, but it certainly is now. ------------------------------------------moving on to things not directly pointed at you, Kilosolder------------------------------------ Negative news does indeed sell better, and that is indeed how journalism works. Sadly, it's not their fault, it's ours. No matter how anyone (sunshine pumper or negative Nancy) wants to try to spin it, this game is undergoing what appears to be a fairly substantial server merge. This is fact, you need only look at how many servers have The Fatman as a destination to know this to be true. It is very possible that by the time this is said and done, this game might very well shrink to a dozen servers, probably less than 20. World-wide. That's a pretty big deal, certainly, and should be recognized as such. Personally, I don't think the server merges are the real question that needs to be answered - the real question, is what is Bioware's plan for the future, should these merges revive the game to release-level populations. How they handle that scenario is largely what will determine this game's future success. The combination of healthy populations, the group finder, the better UI, Rated Warzones, and content due for release this year should put this game in a good position to grow again. What actually ends up happening, remains to be seen. Also - someone said something about World PvP being the necessary tool for revival. World PvP lost a leg the day BG's went live in WoW, and lost the other one when PvP got its own gear that you had to farm/grind some sort of reputation or currency for. No playground that any developer makes will change the fact that World PvP just doesn't deliver those things fast enough while the other option still exists. A very large portion of this game lends itself very well to World PvP (including Ilum), but the community as a whole just isn't doing it. World PvP will stay *dead* until clicky PvP, or the grind for its gear is removed. This is just a sad fact. I just wanted to add this as well - Gary Gannon is very, very good at what he does. I just don't like what he does. Riôt
  12. Nah, I have no hate for Gamebreaker TV, or any of it's members. I do wish them the best, and I was entertained, early on. I just don't like what I see now, that's all. It also bothers me when people go *OMG look, these people said something, so it must be true.* I try to keep faith that most people aren't easily led, but...well, you know how that sentence finishes. Good word, though. Riôt
  13. Yet, you link to it, and quote from it's descriptions? Paranoia involves fear, my friend. Perhaps the word you were looking for is *presumptuous.* Riôt
  14. I used to watch Gamebreaker, back when Gary was running it out of a room in his house. Then it got bigger, they got the studio, with Mike Failnit offscreen. Sometime during that transition, Gary changed (besides starting to get fat), and I saw him for what he is. I don't watch it any more, because you have a misrepresentative panel that includes: Larry Everett - good guy, but at least part of his bread is buttered writing about this game. Gary interrupts him way too much. He doesn't actually know very much about how MMO's actually work, and it shows. Justin Lowe - runs Darth Hater, so...anything he says is always filtered, making his commentary worthless, though sometimes humorous. Ed Park - seems to be the only one who really has any clue about anything, and has a wider view than the other two. He should start distancing himself from Gamebreaker, imo, because even if it gives him more exposure, it's bringing down his credibility. Gary Gannon - talks too much, and interrupts his panelists way too much. He is supposed to facilitate the discussion of his panel, not overrun them. He's also a businessman, and he will (and does) color the shows accordingly. He has people to answer to, now - don't forget that. If you can't see this, I have some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you. A lot of people are claiming that this game is in trouble. Maybe, maybe not. We'll see. Nice plug for Gamebreaker TV, btw, and this is far from the first one I've seen in these forums. Perhaps Gamebreaker TV has had a drop in *viewers* too? Which panelist are you, OP? If I had to guess based on writing, I would say Ed Park. Riôt
  15. This. People want, and expect, Bioware to do this for them, and wonder why World PvP is in its current state. Riôt
  16. After reading your post, OP, it seems to me that your role is actually to step aside, so someone who actually knows anything about their class can tank/dps for your group. So, *someone* said these things, you gobbled them up, and now spew them as fact? In that case, I have some oceanfront property in Arizona for sale, PM me for the details. Riôt
  17. You forgot to mention making absolutely sure everyone you want to play with is actually going to make the transfer. Also - I feel pretty certain that every character on origin servers will be saved shortly before the transfers open, and perhaps again when you initialize the transfer. They will know what you had when you transferred, and since this isn't SWG, they will be able to replace something if it does get lost. Riôt
  18. I suppose it depends on what you are looking for, but I would concur with the others who have listed Timothy Zahn's trilogy as the place to start. Heir to The Empire Dark Force Rising The Last Command Familiar characters, plus some new ones to root for...and arguably one of the best villains (my opinion) ever. Kevin J. Anderson's books - he writes well, but despite having read one trilogy more than once, I really don't remember much about it. Not even the name of the trilogy, or any of the individual books in it, if that tells you anything. I just think he wrote too many books, in too short of a time. That's just my opinion, though. Riôt
  19. If I had to place a wager, I would say they are waiting until zero hour to see how many people resub because of this feature (and where those characters are located) before they flip the go switches. Riôt
  20. Good post OP, and I thank you for it. 1 hour into my first beta weekend, I knew that I was done with both WoW, and Rift for good. I can't go back to those games any more than I could go back to the Elder Scrolls games after playing Mass Effect. WoW and Rift are uninstalled, Oblivion is still unbeaten, and Skyrim is still unpurchased. Despite some of its flaws, I am very satisfied with the game experience I am having, and I look forward to what else is to come. Riôt
  21. I have played most of the top-shelf MMO's, and this one is the overall best, without question. Because of this, it is also likely to be the last one that I play. This is the only MMO where I have wanted more than 2 alts. 15 of them, to be exact. Riôt
  22. So, your guild endures a mutiny, and you just throw up your hands, and quit? Then you come in here, and post about it - are you looking for people to feel bad for you? No offense, but I can see why they left you. A leader does none of those things. Perhaps you are not a leader, and that's fine - very few people actually are. I am sorry to hear that it happened, but take the events that led up to it, and learn from them. Riôt
  23. I'm not deliberately trying to be cryptic, but I feel like I would be trampling on his fairly recent grave, which is why I didn't name him, or his fantasy epic which concludes (finally) in about 6 months. Perhaps that will tell you enough. And, to keep on topic - George Lucas Riôt
  24. I would not do Lost Island with those stats (mostly your hp is the problem). Kaon might be iffy, depends on your group, but the rest you should be fine to do. If you can, start running dailies, and pick up the armorings/mods/enhancements that come from those. Armoring - can be purchased with daily comms (as can your hilt), can also be obtained by killing Raxxus. I don't remember the name of this daily, but you get it from the girl at the first (southern) Belsavis daily hub. Mod - Killing Jedi Master Averron, quest is obtained from an urn-looking object at the third (northernmost) Belsavis daily hub. Enhancement - Obtained from completing the *Poisonous Strategy* daily quest on Ilum, gotten from a probe droid at the entrance to the main base where you land. These are all Heroic 2's, so bring a friend or two, especially one that can CC. You might be able to solo Averron (run straight down to him and eat a death), but soloing the other two is doubtful. Alternatively, you can run HM FP's for Columi, do the Black Hole dailies on Corellia (quest starts on the Fleet near the IA elevator), and try to do the Rakghoul weekly (Kaon/Lost Island HM) for Black Hole comms. I hope that helped. Riôt
  25. If it doesn't change between now and live 1.3, Sonic Barrier is going to scale, which it currently does not. Even in its current form, every Juggernaut tank should have it, imo. Why a tank would knowingly pass up a decent source of mitigation is beyond me. Riôt
