  1. At level 19, you aren't much different than a dps, in terms of tanking abilities. Those come later. You just have the ability to live a bit longer, and your AE package is somewhat lacking as a Juggernaut at that level. It was a while ago, but I'm pretty sure you don't get Saber Throw until level 30 or so (which needs to be sooner, imo), but I am pretty sure you do have Enrage. Since you don't have Saber Throw, you really should use Enrage on the pull, every pull, or you will find yourself very rage-starved. Once you have Saber Throw, you can (should) use Enrage at some point during each pull, instead of at the beginning. At 19, I would suggest this order; Enrage, Charge Smash (which you can position by moving during the animation) Scream a different target Retaliation yet another target Sundering Assault main target (the elite) Sweeping Strikes (which you may or may not have yet, can't remember) If no SS, use your standard strike, or Smash/Scream if they are up and you have rage. If your dps are going straight for the elite, they are doing it wrong, and making your job a nightmare. Kill order is always weak/strong/elite in packs. Retaliation/Scream are used any and every time they light up - pass them around to different targets. I think a lot of Juggernaut/Guardian tanks forget about passing them around, and wonder why their AE threat is so bad. We have the tools (later than we should get them, but we do get them), they just need to be used properly. Riôt
  2. I too, would very much like to have this armor set available. Preferrably craftable, and moddable. I also would have much preferred her as a tank companion for the Sith Warrior, as opposed to the two that come later. Riôt
  3. Your absorbption looks a bit low (like 5-10% low), but otherwise, your stats look fine for HM's, and probably Normal Mode Operations as well, though I am sure others will tell you different on that last part. Keep doing the dailies (you can solo all of them easily sans Raxxus, and the Heroic 2 on Ilum, which aren't worth the time to try to solo, get a partner), and filling out your armorings/mods, etc, and grab the Rakata earpiece/implants from the daily comms. Get your cube, if you haven't already - requires 3 yellow Matrix shards, and is assembled in the cave on DK, near the Temple. While it's possible that your healer was the problem, I find it more likely that the dps in your group doing it wrong ends up actually being the root problem of most Flaspoints. Riôt
  4. Warrior/Knight PvP is all about the two B's: If geared well, and played well, they are a Beast. If not played well, they are a...you get the picture. Sounds to me like you are the former, and your friend is the latter, at least for the time being. Once I learned a few things (most notably, how to not Leap like a noob), my PvP experience got much, much better. Riôt
  5. I'd love to see a vid of you doing Raxxus (Heroic 4, Old Enemies) solo. Or anyone doing it, for that matter. Really. Riôt
  6. I think you will find that there is a direct correlation between who you have targeted when she kills a mob, and where she goes next. This would include if you happened to have an enemy across the room targeted (for whatever reason), though this doesn't happen often. Riôt
  7. Sounds like your Jaesa is Light Side, which makes dark/black gear for her a bit hard to come by, especially on the lower half. I have yet to actually test this, but I am pretty sure a DS Jaesa can wear items that are marked as Inquisitor, and LS can wear items marked for a Consular. I might be wrong on that, though. On a related note - it's a shame when her head gets covered by helm graphics that you can't turn off. On Nar Shaddaa, there is a moddable headpiece that she can wear that is just a headband - requires comms, but worth the farm, imo. The BT robe should drop for you solo, you just have to keep trying. Riôt
  8. The actual answer to this question isn't really the dps of either, but the damage over time. The simple answer is that Vette is less likely to take the damage that actually matters (the AE/Cleaves of difficult mobs), therefore, her damage over time is going to be higher. If your companion is dead, their dps is effectively 0, the same as a player. As a Sith Warrior of either advanced class, Quinn is actually your best all-around companion, for any situation, regardless of your spec. Vette/dps Pierce come next, then Jaesa or Broonmark. This picture would be different if our companions had AI that quickly moved them out of AE's, but they don't. Yet. That said, a geared Jaesa is a beast. Jaesa can tank almost as well as either Pierce, or Broonmark, even if you have her geared as dps. The difference is marginal, at best. Riôt
  9. I'm not sure what level you are, OP, but it sounds like you might be using the wrong companion. As DPS, your overall best companion, in all situations, is Quinn. If you like to be more tactical, then choose between Pierce, or Broonmark. Overall, Pierce is the better choice, because he is ranged, but Broonmark does just fine in most situations. Jaesa, if geared to the hilt, can tank for a decent amount of time, but not quite as well as the aforementioned tanks. I understand that Jaesa is a favorite for a lot of people, but as DPS, she simply isn't the best choice. Using the right companion(s), our survivability is just fine. It might be less than some other classes, but it's certainly not *crap.* On the other side, as Immortal, you can use whoever you want for 95% of the game. In that last 5%, it should be Quinn. Riôt
  10. OP - Your opening rotation is wrong. Fix that, and your threat problems will go away. Riôt
  11. Juggernaut tanking is fine. Juggernaut threat gen is also fine, once you start doing it right. We do not need any passive threat increases, though a damage boost on Retaliation wouldn't be amiss. Tanking woes? Not from where I sit. It's just not ezmode, like the other tanks are. No, it should not be ezmode, like the other tanks are. Riôt
  12. 1) You can't (easily or quickly) change misperceptions of a largely ignorant populace. 2) Damage meters won't fix the problem. They do, however, make it worse for whatever class happens to be *down* that month. 3) Until an MMO starts utilizing mechanics that affect ranged more than they do melee, this will always be a problem. If you choose a melee class, it's just part of the package for the time being. OP - Make some friends. This is obviously the best route, but barring that: Make the most of the runs you do get into. Do good damage, stay out of fire, and fit in some *pro stuffs.* If you have gotten into a group that normally runs together, and you are the odd-man-out, see how they do things, and do it right the first time. Make yourself memorable, and you stand a chance of being friended by at least one of the people in the group. Look at this this way - with no Dungeon Finder, finding skilled players to run with is at a premium for people who like to run lots of Flashpoints. Be that guy. Be that guy to as many people as you can. Riôt
  13. You seem to be able to take a lot of damage as Rage...presumably you are using Soresu form, and a shield generator? That's why. You can tank as Rage or Vengeance *just fine,* the same way a Fury warrior could tank way back in the original WoW. Yes you can, and yes you might generate better threat, but at the end of the day: The people who actually know how the Juggernaut works, how tanking works, and how to tank in general, are Immortal spec, and don't have threat problems. TL;DR - Yes, you can. No, you shouldn't. Riôt
  14. OP - I am well aware of the silvers in question, and if you try to stand toe-to-toe with them, you will find that they are indeed overtuned. If I were to do that again, I would start the fight as far down the ledge as I possibly could, and pull them. Chilling Scream, then Push one off the edge. Burn the one that is left as fast as possible, hoping that my snare, plus the longest possible runback time would lead to success. These two pulls are rough even if you are geared. The mobs are Operative-types, they have stacking dots, and some sort of ridiculously powerful single strike. Each. For those of you who have not seen these mobs because you just killed the guy: youtube.com/Mrfailfactory Pertinent vids are the end of Voss Part II, and the beginning of Voss Part III. Watch how the dots stack, and how my health suddenly goes through the floor, as an Immortal spec (and geared) Juggernaut. You will also see the mitigation-caused ability interrupt issue on full display. Also - I use the word *unbelievable* a great many times. Know that it is a placeholder for...other, less acceptable words. Riôt
  15. Your taunts are not used to establish threat - they are used to regain it. Some things you should know, as a tank: 1) The dps in your group determines how *easily* you are able to tank a given run. 2) If they know how to play their class, your dps can burn through strongs in about 5 seconds. That means your 3rd ability doesn't hit them, in other words. Your Smash/Sweeping Slash is generally enough to hold threat long enough to matter. Additionally, your dps can *tank* a strong for a significant amount of time - I don't ever waste a taunt on a strong, unless it somehow is on the healer. If it's on the healer, I botched the pull, end of story. 3) Use Scream and Retaliation the right way - they are both instant, which means you can Scream one, Retaliation another, and continue on. If your dps are focusing their fire properly, this again, is quite enough to hold threat. 4) The kill order for your dps is always; weak, strong, elite, champion, boss. If your dps are starting on the elite, they are doing it horribly wrong, and making your job a nightmare. 5) A significant amount of the pulls in HM's are designed around CC being used. If your group isn't using it, your job just got a lot harder. CC, if possible, goes on the strong (preferrably elite) that you can't really reach easily. 6) Saber Throw - there are 2 schools of thought on this, and both are correct. If the pull has no adds that jetpack/run in after the fight starts, then you should Throw at one of the solo mobs, and Charge into the pack. If adds do come in, then you should save it for when they do, and use it then. You may find that you need a taunt at this time too, unless you engineer the pull so you are *on location* when the adds come in. The pull determines which is correct at the given time. 7) Sundering Assault and Crushing Blow - the debuff from this helps the dps more than it helps you. In my experience (for boss/champion/elites solo targets), your first two abilities after you Charge in are Scream, and Smash. 8) Interrupts are your dps's job first, then yours. Hope this helps - again, the dps in your group is what determines how easy a given run is to tank. Riôt
  16. Still waiting for this guy to say something incorrect. I think I'll be waiting for quite a while. After extensive testing, we are fine. If you are geared and spec'd properly (get rid of that stupid hybrid spec you are using...I have tried them all, and they are all bad), and doing the right things, then the problem is not you, or the Juggernaut class. It's the...ignorant...dps you run with. Fix them, or replace them. Riôt
  17. I am still testing (using raid-geared dps, while I am not raid-geared myself), but I think some of the rotations (read: priority systems) listed in this thread are incorrect at this time. If it matters, here is who is helping me test: 50 Marauder (Carnage), who peels off of every tank he has come across, regardless of class. So far, it's not a matter of if, but when. 50 Assassin 50 Sniper My current theory is that a lot of Juggernauts (on a single target) are trying to get their sunder stack up too quickly. This helps the dps (melee in particular) much more than it helps us, compounded by the fact that it helps them in the meat of their opening rotation, leaving us with a net threat deficit early in the fight. In regards to AE tanking - we have the tools to do it well. AE tanking is all about being in a good group, that takes the few seconds to communicate, and coordinate pulls. That's really all there is to it. Single Target - how you get there is variable, but once on target, my current priority system is: Crushing Blow Scream Smash Retaliation Sundering Assault I will keep testing, and see what actually works the best in time. Someone mentioned recording your play, and reviewing it to see where you are making errors. I agree, 100%, and do watch my own footage frequently. The nice thing about this game is that you can (currently) watch other people's footage, and learn from their mistakes, because this is ToR, not World of Addon-craft, so it's very easy to follow. I think we are in an OK place, but a few tweaks are needed. Removing the restrictions on Pommel Strike, and dropping it's CD to 15-20s would be a good start. Riôt
  18. This is actually one of the more difficult encounters in the class quest, in my opinion. It isn't the most (by far), but it is more difficult than anything up to this point, and quite a bit of it afterward. It was awhile ago when I did it, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't even hit Yonlach at the beginning, because he was in some kind of bubble. I wasted like 3 GCD's trying, then bent my attention to the apprentice. Sadly, I didn't film it, so I can't point you to it to watch how I did it. I'm pretty sure I just kept myself alive while whittling down the apprentice, then smoked Yonlach. If you keep him interrupted, he folds pretty fast, once you can focus your attention on him. This is also a really good time to learn how to build rage without being able to leap first, or at any time, really. If you ever want to tank anything, this is a skill you must have. Overall, it doesn't get easier, though. The difficulty takes a noticeable jump on Hoth, then again on Belsavis, then again on Voss. Corellia is it's own beast, but mostly because of navigation. Some things for you to look forward to: The end of Act I. The end of Act II. Hoth, Starship Graveyard A lot of Belsavis. Somewhere on Voss (don't remember where, exactly), you will be on a quest to kill a guy to get the Pendant of Bone. He's standing behind a shield, and the shield generators are protected by a pair (each) of overtuned Strongs. If your companion isn't geared, this might be quite rough. http://www.youtube.com/mrfailfactory Voss Parts II and III, if you want to see how poorly I handled them. The Avatar of Sel-Makor, also on Voss. The Voss Healing Trials. The Assassins, if you are bad about either interrupts, or positioning. The final encounters. Keep a ranged companion geared - I recommend Quinn. Riôt
  19. In my opinion, at this point in the game: The Juggernaut tank is both more gear, and skill dependent than the other tanks. I think a flat 10% damage increase would fix our threat problems, and once they fix the mitigation bug/issue, we should be in good shape. They have to be careful though, because any changes to help *undergeared* Juggernauts will make geared/skilled ones even more powerful than they already seem to be. I say seem, because I'm not geared yet, so I can't say for sure. Riôt
  20. Frostbird - As a 50 Juggernaut: Geared, you are pretty beast, though still needing a bit of work. Anything less, and you are mediocre at best. I have yet to actually try this, but I am pretty sure that both Vengeance and Rage can tank just fine (with better threat gen), assuming you are using full tank gear, and Soresu form. Again, I haven't tried it yet, but I might. Something else you should know - currently, there is a bug related to mitigation that causes your GCD to trigger when you hit an ability (most notably Retaliation/Scream), but the ability itself doesn't actually fire. I have heard of Marauders having this problem as well, but have yet to hear of any other classes having to deal with it. http://www.youtube.com/Mrfailfactory My channel, which has a lot of the SW class quest. The endgame stuff will be up soon, but there is quite a bit of standard, non-spoiler gameplay if you want to watch. The Belsavis vids show both Immortal and Rage. Riôt
  21. That is correct, at this time. Use your eyes, and read the tooltips, and you will be able to max your dps. There is scrolling text, if you like to see big hit numbers. Lord of The Morning
