  1. If I ever intend to PvP on a character, I choose one of the smaller frames. Smaller frames can also make some datacrons easier to get, if you care about such things. Riôt
  2. Not only did they make our class easier, but they have made tanking easier in general, now that it seems AE's no longer break CC's. I understand that a bad tank stops Group Finder groups in their tracks, and that easier tanking is arguably better for the community as a whole...but that doesn't stop me from being terribly disappointed. I'm not too excited about the change(s) to Crushing Blow, either, but I'll wait until I actually use it before I make any final judgements. Riôt
  3. I went to a book signing once, to meet one of my favorite authors. I was excited to meet the man who had written such an amazing story, and thought that would correlate back to the man himself. I was wrong. While they are decent people all-around, both he, and George Lucas, share a common set of traits when the topic is about their work (story). Arrogant asses, who believe their own hype, and very much enjoy the power that their fans give them. I can't tell you how disappointed I was, both after that book signing, and after some of the things George has done to his timeless story. Riôt
  4. I know the reason for the mass-quoting. You also didn't need to capitalize *our,* because I am capable of reading for inflection. Perhaps most can't do that? I don't know, I just speak and write assuming that people are capable of understanding my points of inflection, unless they show otherwise. The points you refer to about balance conversations - they (Mace and Yoda) are referring to their diminishing ability to see the future with the Force for guidance purposes - not their ability to actually wield it. Also, they do know why, but they don't know the source. I had thought this was pretty clear, too, both from the conversations, and from Mace vs. Sidious, Yoda vs. Sidious, and Anakin vs. Obi-wan. They don't seem to be lacking in power, in any way, shape, or form. The theme of Bringing (or Restoring) Balance has been used in other stories, probably many more than I am aware of. The mechanics may differ, but the end result (in my experience) has been universally the same - it is, in effect, like hitting a reset switch. Riôt
  5. I'm not going to join the *quote the other guy's freaking book-length post* party, so this is just in reference to the very last part of your last post, Jaavik. The Chosen One, who will bring balance - I had thought this was pretty clear, and it really amazes me how many people muck this up. Balance - Lots, and lots of Jedi. 2 Sith. By the end of Episode 3, there are: 2 Jedi 2 Sith When Luke starts on his path to becoming a Jedi, Obi-Wan is killed. 2 Jedi 2 Sith When Luke is becoming a Jedi, Yoda dies. 1 Jedi 2 Sith Vader kills the Emperor. 1 Jedi 1 SIth Vader returns to the Light, then dies 1 Jedi Of course the prophecy was misread - they incorrectly assumed what was meant by Balance, but he did indeed fulfill the prophecy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- moving on to something else not related to you, Jaavik.--------------------------------------------------- Those *red letter?* videos: Guess what? I can make a video of me talking, slow it down so it adds to the *stupid* tone that I am going for, and edit a bunch of *random people's* (also known as my friends who agreed to help) words to emphasize the satirical slant that I am putting on my commentary. Sure can...easily. I truly feel sad for anyone whose thinking and/or opinions were moved in any way by those videos, or any others like them. Videos like that use a special flavor of Kool-aid called *Sensationalism.* Politicians use it, and entertainers like Jerry Springer and Doctor Phil use it, too. Do you know why? Because stupid people, and sheep, eagerly guzzle it down, and ask for more. Riôt
  6. If you have a full Rage bar, and do something that generates Rage (Saber Throw, Sundering Assault, getting hit, etc.), then that Rage is *wasted,* since you can't go above the cap. You mentioned Operatives and Energy - don't they have a CD that gives 50 Energy? This is the same as using that ability when you are sitting on 90 Energy already. Riôt
  7. You are making the very large presumption that said poll was regarding the first new (explorable) planet to be released. Surely you should be able to see how...ignorant...that presumption would be? Makeb was already planned, I would think that should be rather clear. The poll was likely for the next one. Regarding space combat - personally, I just don't see us getting 3d space flight any time soon, no matter how much I would like it. I find it more likely that Daniel was referring to the overall plan for space, which may well include free flight, and PvP. I think the first iteration is going to be more epic battles, that perhaps also have planetary ramifications. We shall see. Riôt
  8. I thought you already quit, like 10 weeks ago? El oh el. This is a story-based game, and more class story can't have 18 months in between. We will probably be looking at 9-12 months for the first gap, but the rest will probably come around the 6-month mark. So, are you saying that you would be fine with another entire chapter to your story that does not provide increased rewards? A level cap increase should be expected with new class story content, especially considering: Ch .1 = 30-odd levels Ch. 2 = 8 or so levels Ch. 3 = 10 or so levels Ch. 4 = ? - could be 5 levels, but it may be more like 2 or 3 Now, this is predicated upon the assumption that the new class story content will be Chapter 4 in its entirety, but I feel pretty safe in said assumption. It also would not surprise me if the level cap increase wasn't 5 levels, or some other convenient number like it. If we do start getting story every 6 months or so, then only increasing the cap by 1-3 levels each time would be a good idea, and would largely negate the problems of balance, and trivializing content. Increase by 3, increase by 2, expansion increases by 5...looks like it would work nicely indeed. Except perhaps, to those OCD folks who seem to think that level cap increases can only come in multiples of 5. More story. Another new Warzone, which may also be a new type. Another Operation. I am not sure, but I thought I heard Nightmare modes for Flashpoints, too? A new space mission that looks to be more epic (and perhaps has multiplayer or PvP ramifications). More story. A new planet that probably has more codex, exploration, and datacrons. Mega Servers (which WoW is also moving to, btw). Group Finder. More Story. Rated Warzones. All of this, on top of what we have already gotten this year...for free. On a different note, I think it was a good announcement (thanks for the video links), but it was delivered poorly - he sounded like he was having an anxiety attack while he was talking. Riôt
  9. If you want to play the Sith Warrior (both AC's) optimally post-Balmorra, your best companions are: Vette, and Quinn. Regardless of AC, content, or spec. Vette is the best dps, and Quinn is the best all-around. Guess what? Vette and Quinn are the first two companions that you get, respectively, so I am not sure where the compaint lies. Jedi Knights have a legitimate complaint that their healer comes so late, but Sith Warriors have absolutely no basis for complaint regarding when they get their optimal companions. Quinn's Carbon Freeze (as well as Holliday's Dance, Mako's E-stun, etc.) are some of the best companion abilities in the game, and they use them intelligently, most of the time. The only time these abilities are bad, is if the companion is more intelligent than the player. Someone mentioned that you should post a video of your play, Veeius...I wouldn't. I would, however, film yourself if you can, and watch the footage several times, until you start to realize that you really don't know how to play this class. At that point, you can *armchair quarterback* yourself, and see what you are doing wrong that is causing you to have problems that most of us who have responded here don't have. Regarding some other AC's soloing Heroics - take away their long CC's (thus, putting them on even ground), and they can't do any more (or less) than the Sith Warrior. Those CC's are the *only* reason they can do more in the first place, and should not be confused as being *more powerful.* Riôt
  10. Turn off her Stance, and the saber should close. She will still be able to fight, just not quite as well. Riôt
  11. The best guild name I have ever seen was *Thith With a Lithp.* Riôt
  12. You wrote that gigantic OP, purportedly to *cover all of the bases,* and perhaps just to foster a longer discussion, but there really is only one reason behind this problem: Laziness. If u type like this, u r lazy. Period. If I knew what you meant, that should be enough, right? Wrong. You should expect more out of yourself. It's just a game, and supposed to be fun and relaxing, so what does it matter? Play Hard. If you do not play hard (at something you reputedly enjoy), then you certainly do not Work Hard either. Not working hard equals what, again? Work Hard. Play Hard. Don't be lazy. P.S., to the OP - you are a senior in college, and you are somehow not aware that sentences are not supposed to start with the word *and?* Riôt
  13. I might be saying this somewhat incorrectly, but I do believe it's partly based on *contribution.* Your higher level characters make a larger *contribution,* therefore, they net more Legacy exp per activity, including killing mobs. I would run dailies, do PvP, or Ops/Flashpoints on your 50, if boosting Legacy exp quickly is your goal. I also don't know if having more than one 50 gives your low levels a Lexp boost...I'll have to look into that. Riôt
  14. I too, have been unable to find it, though I distinctly remember using it very early in the game's launch. There is another Targeting option called Target Center Screen - this may, or may not, help you that much, but it is there. I don't have any more or less problems targeting in this game overall, than in any other. The only really notable difference for me is trying to mouse-target players that are moving, which gives me fits. I use Target Next Enemy, in conjunction with the camera (to try to tell the client which target to change to) and mouse targeting to change targets. It works very well for me, most of the time. Riôt
  15. Oedii - Somewhere in the Options is a toggle for non-hostile targets. You need to make sure this is off, so they are not included in your target-cycling. With the UI changes, this may no longer be in the game, but it was at one time, so see if you can find it, and make sure it is set the way you need it to be set. Riôt
  16. This is a glitch that I really wish they would fix - it happens to Jaesa, Kira, Nadia, and probably Xallos, too. It is related to their combat stances, and it has been going on since well before 1.2, actually. I have yet to see if it happens with any single/dual-wield saber companions, but it seems to affect all of the double-saber companions. It's not game-breaking, but it is immersion-breaking, and annoying. I can turn their stances off to fix it, but I'd rather they just fix the glitch. Riôt
  17. Welcome to the game First, I would suggest that you stop playing so many characters at once. You are diluting the game, and not just this one, but pretty much any other MMO would suffer the same fate if played in this manner. Perhaps the stories aren't hooking you because you are trying to absorb 6 different stories at once, not to mention the planet story arcs, and the overall Republic vs. Empire story arc. Perhaps the game seems boring and grindy to you, because you have literally been doing nothing but the same content over and over - 7 times. If you are hitting the spacebar a lot, you might want to stop doing so. Pick a class that you like, and stick with it for a while, and see if your experience changes. It may not, and if it doesn't, then perhaps you are right, and this game just isn't for you - and there is nothing wrong with that. Enjoy. Riôt
  18. This sounds like a really great idea. After thinking about it for an additional .2 seconds, however, I realize that it just won't work the way you seem to think. Do you even begin to realize the sheer amount of depth that would have to go into this in order for it to work the way you think it would? We are talking about Forza Motorsport/Gran Tourismo type of depth here, in order for it to be competitive in a fair way. Even those games end up with alpha cars, and alpha setups. Standard MMO progression can't work here - as soon as a few people reach the first tier, they probably can't lose until more start to get there...which means that you have to be able to progress at a decent rate without winning, and in fact, while coming in last place. Enter the AFK'ers. But wait, we could have custom parts that make a difference in performance...sure, but how is this gear obtained? Yeah, can you see where this is going yet? That said, I wouldn't think that it would be *too* hard for them to basically clone Mario Kart's/Twisted Metal's mechanics...that might work very well indeed, as long as people are actually doing it. They could even have a vehicle-only WZ that mimics Twisted Metal...I would probably play that all. day. long. Maybe throw in some notable NPC's to fill player gaps, too. Riôt
  19. Personally, I think the Ship hangars would be a great place for this. You can have your cake, and I don't have to be subjected to watching you eat it. Riôt
  20. Your Original Post says: *You have a choice of PvP, PvP...* Might want to edit that. Thanks for the guide though - looks good. Riôt
  21. You thought wrong. Tatooine. Taris. Belsavis. Just to name 3 that sell Orange gear. Again, I'll also mention the Specialty Vendors. Riôt
  22. Republic side got seriously screwed in regards to datacrons on both Coruscant, and Nar Shadaa. The Empire equivalents are not nearly as difficult to obtain. It seems that at some point in development, Bioware realized that using round objects does not promote easy platforming, and largely stopped doing it, but didn't go back and change some of those early Republic datacrons. If you are having problems making jumps, most of the time the solution is to turn off Sprint. Most of the time. Some jumps do require Sprint to make (if you are not a Consular), but a lot of them do not. Make friends with a tank-spec Commando (Vanguard?), a Sage, and a Gunslinger. They can make your datacron grabbing much, much easier, assuming they can negotiate the tricky parts for you. Riôt
  23. It seems we have someone in this thread who styles themself as a really good movie and story critic whose opinions should be taken as fact...I just have to ask, RDeanOU, were you sad at the end of Titanic? I mean, you knew the boat was going to sink, and that Jack wasn't going to survive. One you know from history, the other is made fairly plain early in the movie. I wasn't sad, there wasn't any way for James Cameron to make me sad about it, and that isn't James Cameron's fault. Everyone who has seen Episodes 4-6 knows who Darth Vader is, and who Anakin Skywalker was. Just in case your *critical eyes* missed it, this means you go into Episodes 1-3 knowing what is going to happen. See the Titanic example, if you aren't following me as to why this doesn't have a lot of impact. I would think that this would be fairly plain, but perhaps it was too subtle for your critical eyes of awesomeness. Harrison Ford, his portrayal of Han Solo, and the imagery/voice of Darth Vader carried the Original Trilogy. Luke, Leia, lightsabers, and space battles played their part, for sure, but without the version of Han Solo and Darth Vader that we grew up with, Star Wars goes nowhere. That might sound like opinion, but I really don't think so. Dialogue...although it does get better in 5 and 6, the dialogue in the Original Trilogy is no better, overall, than that of the prequels. It really, really, isn't. Episode 4 is one of the most over-acted movies I have ever seen. Take off your rose-colored glasses, man, or do your *critical eyes* need them to see? I was not sad when Anakin fell, but that sequence isn't designed to generate that emotion in the first place. I was moved, however, during the final duel, when Anakin says *This is the end for you, my Master,* and Obi-wan realizes that he has failed, and that he must kill the one person in the galaxy that means the most to him. This anguish is very plain on his face, and no words are necessary...or used. Speaking of this, if you are unable to pick up how close they have become from Episodes 2 and 3, then maybe your critical eyes need some new lenses. You have your Opinion - you seem to think that your opinion is fact, and you repeatedly try to push it onto others, both in this thread, and another recent one like it. You even keep repeating the same lines. Do you have this stuff premade, so you can just copy-paste it? I would, if I were you. It would save a lot of time. It might do you a lot of good to watch them without using your critical eyes of opinion, and I think you might find that a lot of what you have posted that you feel is lacking (including subtleties), are actually there. Also, looking at what you have posted in this thread, and the other, you might want to start this new look without being under the premise that Anakin is the main character/protagonist of The Phantom Menace. He isn't. The Phantom Menace is the story of Obi-wan, his Master, and his/our introduction to Anakin Skywalker. Since you were wrong about that...fairly basic...point, you might very well find that you were wrong on other, more subtle ones. Neither George Lucas, nor Hayden, nor anyone else, have ruined Star Wars. Fans that have/had ridiculous expectations, however, probably did ruin it for themselves. I feel sorry for them. Riôt
  24. Just to repeat, the Heavy Armor vendor on Tatooine also has it...and it's Heavy Armor. While there, you might want to eyeball the Specialy Vendor on Tatooine as well. Same courtyard. It really surprises me how many people are unaware of what this particular vendor carries. Riôt
  25. Since this is an MMO (meaning, no save/load option really), you will end up in the same place at the end, with a very similar ending no matter what you did on the way there. Not exactly the same, but similar. That said, some things on the way there are very different. I chose Light Side (and filmed it) primarily because I was pretty sure that Dark Side would be a lot of wanton killing of people, just because. With Light Side, Bioware has to *try harder* to make the sequence just as good. In a lot of cases, the sequences are better, in my opinion, because of it. The Inquisitor, on the other hand...I just can't go Light Side with it, for the same reason I couldn't go Dark Side with my Consular. My Jedi Knight, though... I hope that answered your question. Riôt
