  1. This ^ If they really wanted to, they could include a vision of Luke through the Force or something. There's really not much of a reason to do so, however, as this timeline was chosen for a reason: to let BW run wild with their characters and story.
  2. Tell us, future boy, what is pvp like two major content patches from now? Seriously though, it's resolve.
  3. The only thing i can come up with is that the game is using the similar chest piece from Karagga's that has red on it when doing the color match. So probably a bug. I just leave the BM legs and boots their default color -- a little purple still works quite well with the chest armor and cloak. You could also try the level 40 pvp chest piece that is similar in design but has purple coloring on it... that might give you a more uniform color palette (if you're ok with purple).
  4. Well, that's the thing -- no one is jumping to conclusions, people have already done the research. Kinetic and Energy damage are effectively identical. They are used to make different types of attacks (say a vibrosword vs a lightsaber) make sense, but they work the same way. If a lightsaber did kinetic damage, or a knife did energy damage, it wouldn't make much sense. So there are two damage types to describe it -- but they are both treated by armor/shields/etc in the exact same manner. The other two damage types (internal and elemental) also function identically to each other, but they ARE different from energy/kinetic. So really, there are only two damage types in the game but with four different names to label them: energy/kinetic and internal/elemental. It's just like talking about Guardians and Juggernauts -- two names, but functionally identical. So the person you quoted is correct -- though perhaps not the politest response LOL. There is no difference and OP has been misinformed by his friend/guildy.
  5. The issue is that the change to the story came about fairly late in testing. It was last summer that they decided we could no longer kill companions. Any story changes require additional voice recording for, at least, male and female player characters, and would've probably required more dialog from Quinn -- if not other companions as well. So their hands were a bit tied regarding the kinds of changes they could make and have the audio in game for it to work properly. Basically, there was no great solution available in the time they had to finish the game. Maybe we'll get something in the future to rectify the whole situation.
  6. If the item doesn't sell, then you get the full deposit (1950) back. Now, if you choose to cancel your sale, then you lose the entire deposit. Basically, it is there to keep people from abusing the GTN as a form of short-term storage by putting things on it and then cancelling them to get them back. The deposit also scales with how much you charge and the length of time for your post -- so the longer you put something up for, the more expensive it is for you to cancel it. By taking some out when your item sells, it also acts as a minor credit sink to remove some money from the economy.
  7. What open world pvp? I'm not defending bad players who don't know how to participate with a team in a Warzone... because that stuff drives me nuts too (and i'm a solo queue'r, but i understand team work and how to win). My point is that there is no alternative to WZs for people who want to pvp. There is no world pvp that someone can just go and enjoy -- the only pvp in the game is WZs. Until that is fixed, your attitude is not only unhelpful, it's just plain useless.
  8. That rig and card seem solid. The only thing i would be concerned about is that it comes with a 500W power supply, which seems a little low. You might look to upgrade that to a 6-650W. Otherwise it seems good enough to run the game quite well.
  9. Yes, especially if you use mods from level 50 dailies rather than just ones you get while leveling. You will be well prepared for just about any HM and starting Operations with those.
  10. Are you currently at Corellia? I believe that is the message that comes up when you try to fly to a planet you are already at.
  11. Only an issue if you try to drop in and out of pvp while doing missions on a large planet. If you're on fleet or your own ship, the load times are quite insignificant (with a decent comp that is, even on a HDD).
  12. The only way to know you have a fair chance of beating a premade is with your own premade. Plain and simple. If you have a premade on your team and still lose, well then you got outplayed -- learn from it, get better, and move on. With any luck, we'll get premades and solo on separate queues in the not-too-distant future.
  13. I like the big crosshairs for KoS. It's pretty universal and everyone gets the fact that it's basically a bullseye on that target.
  14. 1. Hope not. It was a purposeful decision to not have any class that can tank and heal. There's just no reason for it -- the 8 classes in game are perfectly effective for group-making, etc. This is not WoW. 2. This is kind of a two-parter: 1) try using CC with your other group members. Especially in difficult heroics, etc. you should be using CC to control groups instead of trying to tank 4 elites. If there are normal or even strong enemies, your DPS should tear them down while you take care of the main target(s). 2) taunt builds hate regardless of who has aggro. You can use taunt as part of your tanking rotation, even when you have aggro, it increases your hate significantly. This is true of the single-target and AoE taunts. 3. Nope and not needed. Being a healer means you have to pay attention and switch targets... it's really not that difficult. There's a 1.5 second GCD, which is more than enough time to switch targets between heals as needed. 4. As said, no combat macros in game. Yes, pieces of hardware can give an advantage. However, macros really aren't needed in the game and it is fully playable without them -- even a regular mouse and keyboard is sufficient for both pve and pvp. If you're going to go play D3... then why are you asking? If it's just a moot point. We're happy to help, but you won't get a lot of friendly responses when you drop D3 in here -- we don't really care about what you're playing if you're not playing with us.
  15. I'm never seeing this... ever. I'm not trying to say it's not a problem for you, because it sounds like a major issue. But I just want to make sure you know that it is NOT a universal problem. Still, you might try to tech support forums because you definitely won't find specific help here.
  16. No, you're wrong. When the developers said that, during beta testing, it was true. However, during testing, they found that the ability to permanently kill/lose companions was just more hassle than it was worth. They had a lot of issues with people killing companions, knowing full well that it was permanent, but then later putting in CS reports asking for the companions back. People say they want to kill companions and make permanent decisions... then they discovered that doing missions without a pocket healer was not the joy they wanted it to be. So BioWare changed this in game to eliminate the problem. Ultimately, customers are just not as smart as they think they are, and in an MMO, anything permanent like that is a big deal. While it would've been nice to keep that aspect of this game, it just wasn't worth it for them. The number of unhappy players sending in requests for companions back was greater than the number of people who appreciated this type of permanence. There are plenty of good reasons to rage against BioWare for things handled improperly or promises not kept -- this just isn't one of them. They didn't lie -- next time, try knowing what you're talking about.
  17. No. Your companions are part of your story, tied to your character class. Don't expect them to ever just open up companions to anyone who wants them or something like that. It's part of the experience of playing different classes, seeing the various companions in the game -- they are all (other than ship droid) unique for each class. So roll up some alts and see the companions and their stories. If you want Mako and Blizz, roll a BH; if you want a Twi'lek and... other things... roll up a SW.
  18. Please don't say "coming soon" in your title like that. In the Q&A, it sounds like it's a fairly long way off, as they are just starting development on it -- it will require development time and testing before we ever see it. Some folks will read your threat title, assume that means it is somehow promised in the next patch, and complain when 1.3 comes and it's still not in. While it's stupid, it's also the way it goes -- so you have to be responsible with how you word things. It is hopefully coming in the not-too-distant future... but not really "soon!"
  19. 12 players at 9am on my server isn't that unusual -- we often have 100+ at 9pm. So the early morning numbers don't indicate how the server really is -- unless your time to play is only 9am or 4am or whatever, then you're just outta luck on most servers.
  20. I like to RP that after his betrayal, i did kill him. Then dragged his carcass to DK, had Sorcerers reanimate him as my slave who heals me. They put his soul and mind back into his body, so he can see and feel what is happening, but he has no will of his own and cannot refuse my commands. Though i wouldn't mind slapping Vette's old slave collar onto him.
  21. First one really isn't needed. If you are in the fray at a door that someone is trying to cap, you're probably getting medals for damage/healing/defending (doing your job, in other words). Your second idea is pretty good though. I haven't had much issue with this, however, as i rarely see full teams just keep trying one door and not going for the other at all. Still, it wouldn't be terrible to get some medals for defending a door all by your lonesome.
  22. It's the players, not the classes. Classes are mirrored. So if you have more trouble killing a Juggernaut than a Guardian, it's because of the player/gear of that Juggernaut -- not the class.
  23. Ha! Sounds great. I assume you're on a pvp server... so someone will probably report you... because that's just how lame some people are in this game.
  24. I'm a die-hard BW fan. I have played and own every game they've released since Baldur's Gate II. They are pretty much my favorite developer in the industry. That said, i presented a thorough answer to the OP on the VERY first page outlining what BW did wrong that has so many players upset. Of course, just like every other reasonable answer, it was ignored or viewed as not addressing the issue... OP: NO ONE wanted them to release Rated Warzones as a buggy mess. No one has ever said they should've just released them as a mess. People are upset about other things -- when it comes to RWZ, the major issue is the lack of testing that went on due to mishandling PTS and the transfer situation. We're all quite pleased that buggy RWZs didn't go in with 1.2... we're not so thrilled, however, about the lack of communication and what many of us view as mismanagement on behalf of BioWare, whose customers we are.
  25. Well, nothing "reflects" blaster fire. When you use a lightsaber or vibrosword, you see animations of your character blocking blaster shots with the weapon. You don't actually reflect the attack back at the attacker, it is just a dodge. It's an animation to make it feel more like being a Sith, but it functions just like dodging an attack on a Smuggler or any other character.
