  1. Trion just announced they are adding 3-faction PvP to Rift through a new feature called "Conquest." GW2 is heavily promoting the "WvWvW" feature using 3 different servers all facing each other to create 3-faction PvP. From the little information released for Elder Scrolls Online, we know it will also have 3-faction PvP. It seems developers have finally realized that the WoW model is flawed, and that 3-faction PvP is the only way to fight off imbalance and provide fans of open-world objective-based PvP with a deep and meaningful experience. With that in mind, does TOR need to introduce 3-faction PvP? Should it be for all PvP, or perhaps merely for the Ilum update they've told us they are working on. Perhaps players could enter a newly designed end-game PvP zone or planet and choose either Empire, Republic, or Hutt (or some other third faction) when they land. They would then fight for their faction and there would be at least some 3-faction PvP in TOR. Thoughts?
  2. No. That's been over for about a month.
  3. You don't know what you're talking about because you have been shown up, repeatedly, in this thread. Your numbers have been wrong, your understanding of how attacks and damage types are categorized has been wrong, and you have generally looked like an uninformed whiner complaining about nerfs over issues you do not fully understand. So just back away and learn about the classes and game a bit more before starting another thread. Thanks!
  4. LMAO! Nice one. I seriously have no idea what OP is talking about. Plenty of valid concerns about this game, but his post is just meaningless.
  5. No to most/all of your requests, and dear god no to SOE!
  6. Just stop, you're only making yourself look worse. You clearly don't actually know what you are talking about, so just call it a loss and go on with your day.
  7. I'm not against it. I'm all for making tanks more effective, but I feel they are far too squishy. I actually started off PvP as an Immortal Jugg and I loved it -- but I quickly realized that outside of carrying the Huttball, i really wasn't as effective as a DPS taking my spot in a WZ. You can't put pressure on a target, due to lack of damage, and you're just far too squishy against too many damage types. As a tank, i felt like what i really did was harass the other team, without being a crucial part of victory. Admittedly, a tank with decent healing has the unkillable feel they should have, but i find "decent healing" to be far too rare. Perhaps that's just me, however.
  8. 1. It's BioWare's fault that one of their first acts during launch was to listen to whiners and drastically increase the number of servers they had. Myself and many others commented on the forums that BW needed to stick with the initial launch number and let the population spread itself out. They didn't, and now there are WAY too many servers. That was their call and their fault. 2. It's BioWare's fault that they didn't do a simultaneous Asia/Oceanic launch. Many servers filled up with these players who have since transferred to their own servers, making an already bad situation even worse. 3. It's BioWare's fault that they did not have a server transfer system in place for launch or shortly thereafter. TOR is not the first MMO to launch and so they have literally dozens of models to look at regarding how a launch occurs and what is needed afterward -- server transfer tech is high up on that list. BioWare is actually my favorite game developer, but even I can see the mistakes they have made that they and many of their players are not (literally) paying for. I fear 1.3 will be far too late for many players who could've helped make this a great game/community.
  9. This ^ Dear lord who wants smaller PvP? We need 16v16 and some meaningful open world PvP that will wash the bad taste of Ilum out of our collective mouths.
  10. Taunts can be tied to tanking stance when tanks are actually able to be TANKS in this game. Until they can mitigate all forms of damage effectively and get some serious use from their shields, tanks are pointless in PvP. The only thing they can do is take damage away from another target, but then they get torn down fast and hard without heals. They are no more resilient to half the damage in this game than any other class. So Taunts can be tied to Tanking stance, when Tanks can effectively Tank and survive a good deal of incoming damage (at which point, their damage output should also be quite weak).
  11. Get to level 15 when you can train your Heroic Moment ability.
  12. One thing OP, you are comparing an AC to a full class. Sith Juggernauts and Jedi Guardians are mirrors that are functionally identical. The Jedi Knight is the same as a Sith Warrior, with the potential to become either a Guardian/Juggernaut or Sentinel/Marauder.
  13. So now that we know the OP was legit, let's get past all the slandering and apologizing and back to the real issue. Is open world PvP including base-camping allowed on a PvP server? Did the GM act out of line by warning about being banned when they were base-camping without camping the med center? Or is that an official BioWare policy that he was enforcing? Don't let the controversy overshadow the real issue, which is a concern over BioWare's policy for base-camping and open world PvP on a PvP server.
  14. No. Every class has these abilities and they are designed purely for PvE. I don't think any class has a shortage of attacks where they feel the need for more buttons to press in PvP. It's fine the way it is right now, with these high-damage attacks working great in PvE and being left out of PvP (as they should be). You're not the first person to bring this up, and you probably won't be the last. But it was a bad idea before and it will be a bad idea again -- these are PvE abilities and they work fine for what they are meant to do.
  15. Read your signature... my brain has turned to goo!
  16. If you pvp regularly, you can easily get full BM in 1-2 weeks. It all depends on how much you play.
  17. My point was simply that the numbers need to be looked at in context and not merely as an absolute value. Having over 300k damage and only 5 kills with no objective points would indicate someone who just runs amuck trying to DPS without trying to win -- someone I don't want to be in a WZ with. I'd much rather play with someone who's total damage is a little low, but who played to win the game, than someone with massive AoE numbers and no ability to actually play the objectives.
  18. Actually, a public forum seems like EXACTLY the place to handle this. You're viewing the forums as innately juvenile, but this isn't 4chan or something. There is the possibility for mature and meaningful conversation here (wilted though it may be by a few jerks whose posts will be removed in the long-run). No action was taken (so no privacy issue) and this wasn't some "waaaah why me?" thread. It was a statement regarding what was said by a GM in game to raise a question of whether this was BW policy or not. One time is all it takes if BW defends it and indicates that they do not want any base-camping of any kind, regardless of where the med center may be. OP seems to have handled this like an adult, by raising a question and looking for answers on the official forums. He even posted it in the relevant sub-forum and didn't fill the subject line with all caps or a thousand exclamation points. He placed the ball in BW's proverbial court, it's now up to them to provide additional information and explain the actions of their in-game representative. Once again, no different from someone receiving bad service at a restaurant and blogging about it to warn others -- except the customer is able to use the "restaurant''s own site to more easily reach the other customers (community).
  19. Gated gear progression. They want you to have to keep working for BM gear once you hit 50, not have it all. But a few pieces of BM with your 2000 comms and get the rest from your Recruit vendor (in the class trainer section of fleet, there are individual PvP vendors for each class and set). Don't bother re-rolling to the other side, i guarantee you'll have the same experience. If there's no communication, be the one to start communicating. If there's no heals, consider rolling a healer (perhaps easier said than done). Also, don't get discouraged by rude/idiotic players. They are in the game and there's nothing to be done about it. Just put them on ignore and keep having fun.
  20. Two things: 1. Yes, most sensible players know that the complaints about tanks in pvp are ridiculous since DR in pvp is very weak. 2. Many complaints about shadow/assassin tanks are due to the high damage output possible while spec'd for tanking. Compared to an Immortal Jugg, for example, they can put out quite a bit more damage in a spec that does grant some added survivability. But that's a larger topic that usually leads to heated debates from both sides. The point is, tank gear in pvp does not provide a ton of survivability beyond higher HP and higher raw defense.
  21. People should be riled up. There's obviously a very general belief by players on PvP servers that open world PvP (with all it entails including camping and griefing) is ok on PvP servers. If BioWare supports a policy that clearly contradicts this viewpoint, then the players should be made aware of it. I'm not saying they do because we're still waiting on a response here from someone at BioWare. But players, especially players frequenting a PvP forum, should be explicitly aware of actions taken by GMs against any type of PvP activity -- and BW should know what is going on and address it publicly for their customers. It's no different than someone writing a letter to a news organization or blogging about bad customer service from any other business. Yes, some people here are just raging immaturely, but this is also an opportunity for customers to express concerns and get a response from the company they are paying.
  22. Up until Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. They made him a righty to match character movements more accurately. But no MMO is going to give players the choice, since it double's their animation work for attacks for something that is going to be ignored by the vast majority of players.
  23. Well, it seems folks are pretty happy with current Madness, which is cool. I just had some ideas and had to get 'em out of my head.
  24. Ok, but you asked to be shown where the other argument was coming from. So we pointed it out for you. I'm not really here to argue, i already said my bit about this whole situation a page back. I was just trying to demonstrate where the "med center" stance came from -- that in the previous situation, they expressly stated that players could not leave the area. Since the med center was away from the fighting, this should not have been the situation this time.
