  1. Is the game no longer in development? Is it in must in maintenance mode? What is communicated from BioWare shows that they are in maintenance mode. There's no indication of the commitment level from BW, or if there is further development of content.
  2. Actually, my play time is quite less, because the load times are even longer for me. A lot of times I'm watching TV or doing something else because I get bored with the load screens (which are sometimes up to a minute for me). It is a major deterrent to the game, and for this reason I play a lot less than I would like.
  3. The point was that there wasn't anything wrong with borrowing from KOTOR, as that was more unique and original content, it was that they borrow from future genres (Clone Wars, Empire), which is not original and are in a sense weak knock offs. We're essentially playing Clone Troopers vs. Imperials.
  4. I would like the opportunity to do it again as well. Who knows...
  5. I sympathize with you. I do not have a tank, but I almost always give MVP for protection, especially in VoidStar scenarios. I also give MVP votes to where the we are lacking, such as no one going after objectives. If there is healing that made a difference (must be over 70K) or someone doing the boring job of guard duty, I throw an MVP vote that way. But always, I look out after those protecting, and throw points that way. In Huttball, tanks are so necessary to guard the ball carrier.
  6. I'm responding to many conversations on the the more like KOTOR topic. This can mean many things. Instead of MMO vs. single player, maybe they are addressing the originality of the content in KOTOR vs. SWTOR. What I wish it could mean, is that we can explore new worlds with new cultures that are surprises, as this you did in KOTOR. Hopefully this can be integrated into the game in the form of new content, new costumes, adjusted stories, etc. I think many feel that we are just getting what I feel seems like watered-down ersatz versions of Clone Troopers and Imperials genre copied from the movies, while the KOTOR has truly unique and different feel of the Sith. Those that love SW lore, I really suggest getting a copy of KOTOR and try it out... When I played KOTOR, I was enthralled by the different armor/costumes of the Sith troopers (rather than the Imperial uniform). I was so excited to solve some ancient mystery, discover some ancient races, explore new planets and cultures that had significant importance in the plot, and also explore very unique original content, such as secret assassin society, Czerka Corporation, etc. When I showed the trailers to SWTOR to friends, they also felt that the material was not all that original, as it looks like Clone Troopers vs. Imperials.

  8. I had the same thoughts. This reminds me of a quote that goes something like People who have the least to say, talk the most
  9. Potato sack is funny, but true. The designs of armor leaves a lot to be desired. I think the game performance has improved dramatically, but the load screens are still pretty time consuming. I can tolerate the other stuff for now. The other reasons for getting tired with the game is totally on the spot...
  10. I think it is different. In the beginning, the community was livid over the playability of the game and numerous bugs. It was not so much the community's fault, but the game was truly not very playable, and would bring powerful systems to a crawl. Since then the playability of the game has much improved. So I don't see much of these flaming posts. But the quality of content is often talked about, along with the whole gaming concept, etc. Yes, the is still negative over this as well. Some that have stuck it out, through the bugs, explore many parts of the game, are looking for things to do. I see some comments that are way out there, and obviously these posters do not understand how things are done, or how much things cost, or exactly why they are not pleased with the game. Others can talk about it more succinctly, and have points that I think are good feedback for BW. BW does some things that are really ridiculous that warrant a lot of the negative feedback. For example, after path 1.2, players were punished for not winning. The community was livid about this, as this is definitely a main aspect of the game for many. Eventually, BW got a clue and changed the system to reward for participation and reward more for winning, instead of the punishment model. In contrast to other games, like WOW, there were plenty of negative comments, but in the beginning, I think most were satisfied with the game overall, and there was plenty to explore...
  11. Thanks. My guild, composed of seasoned gamers (many from an unnamed MMO) at the release, but the guild has since dissolved. Many quit the game due to numerous bugs at the time, especially in end-game content, never to return. In reading the post, I think a lot feel the content is limited and linear. If it was more dynamic, especially in end-game choices, and had the ability to explore, the game would be more interesting for those that have explored most of the game.
  12. Actually, I am not really into actions games; I was always into designing characters in the older RPG games like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights. The reason why I mention Force Unleashed and Star Wars 1313 (preview movie) is that these environments captured the imagination of a this genre (interaction with environment, force powers, weapons, storyline, etc.). Perhaps this level of detail is not available in an MMO format, but then BW did make KOTOR, which offered more capability to design your character with different force power paths. Maybe it is just the format/design (which seems similar to WoW) just is perhaps not the best model for SW. And for the sandboxes... one thing that is decent about WoW, is that they had this huge land mass (or illusion of one) divided into regions. There were a lot of exciting places to explore. I just thought the whole exploration of unknown regions was just really exciting. I wish the worlds had regions and land masses to explore (some could be locked out and filled out later). They could have different levels for different regions. To explore worlds with continents and regions would have just been so exciting, compared to the sandboxes with obstacle courses that we have now.
  13. I came back for 1.3, and I had nothing else to do. Once I have something else to do, like job or school, I probably will not re-subscribe. There's other games out there that are imaginative and engaging, but this game is way too limited to me (imperials vs. clone troopers arc, no real 3D environment, linear story, 3D boxes for worlds instead of continents w/ regions to explore, etc.). Perhaps if something is added that is interesting, I might by a game card.
  14. For me, game is just boring. I got level 50, all professions to 400, and 4 other toons in mid-40s, (2 more in 30s), and it is just dull. The plot-lines are very linear, some intriguing, but ultimately not very engaging or exciting, sometimes even lame. I think I get more enjoyment out of single player like Force Unleashed II or the future Star Wars 1313 and other games as well as pen 'n paper SW games. Also, the worlds are very limited, just a big 3D box. There's no exploring regions, continents, so it doesn't feel like a world. The game is just limited to these boxed worlds and space station mostly, with some instances and operations, oh, and an embedded space pilot game. There's NO real 3D, such as aerial combat or vehicles. We're in a space, but yet, everything is grounded. This just seems absurd for any space oriented MMO. Gone is the opportunity to pilot or acquire vehicles, fight with vehicles, etc. In space, it would be very cool to build ships that were not generic brand, travel across hyperspace tunnels, maybe have occasional random encounters (pirates, etc.), and fight it out. And I might dare say, that there's not much originality in the theme, except some borrowed bits from KOTR like the assassin droid and Revan. SWTOR looks essentially like Clone Troopers vs. Imperials, and fudge it a little (occasional dressing like space cowboys, etc.). There are so many opportunities to explore new and different eras with different cultures, but instead we relive a Imperial or Clone Troopers Republic style world.
