  1. if SWTOR had come out with a single player console version of the game this thread would never have existed
  2. i hope that the plague is part of a new expansion, the more times infected and dead by plague the better off i will be in expansion...
  3. say maybe if a sith got light side iii or iv they could go to the other fleet and chill? why not? legacy system encourages cross realming anyway, might as well go all the way. (if not fleet, then make a housing sector that is realm neutral but open to legacy members).
  4. i got a boo boo but i didn't cry about it
  5. 1 Guild rankability (WAR used to have a great system in place until 1.4) 2 Dye vendor or crafting profession; template appearance gear (Many other MMOs already have this sort of thing) 3 Heroic quest givers huddled in the planetary cantinas instead of being spread all over the map (Make it so that Heroic quests do not count against mission log total, and allow for solo play if group not available by equipping companions as part of the group) 4 Deeper exploration of the lore on planets such as Tatooine and Hoth apart from my characters momentary visit to the planet (expansions should make the game more lore driven, taking the cue from KotOR, rather than relegating lore tangentially to the codex as in the game currently, bring it to the forefront)
  6. From what I understood a toon could only get infected by going on the fleet IF they had already gone to the crash site, thereby setting off the initial quest chain and a codex unlock. At least that had been my experience, because I went to the fleet on the first day hoping to be infected and not having any luck. Only after I flew out to Dune Sea was I able to go back to the comfort of fleet and share my disease with my fellow cross realmers.
  7. In an hypothetical expansion to the game Alderaan should be revisited as a cratered radioactive wasteland that makes Taris look like a day at the beach. I found Alderaan tedious and it only gets worse with every play through, regardless of faction.
  8. I was thinking that they would wait until D3 and GW2 drop, then assess from that point on. Seems I am forgetting another title. Another thing to think about is the summer population might be different than the present population, it might be higher when students have more time on their hands.
  9. Just a question about when or if we will have the ability to choose the color of our gear--either a dye merchant in game or the ability to craft dyes. It would be nice to see guilds rolling in their colors, and legacy units should have some sort of coat of arms, even if it were only a color detail on their gear. Related to this, when and if we will have the ability to choose appearance of our gear from something we have already Bound and that we like the look of, or again a merchant in game who will sell appearance templates appropriate to either armor type or career?
  10. Alderaan seems way WAY too empty, and the commuting back and forth between quest turn ins is tedious because nothing to kill along the way.
  11. The in game graphics and character performance have improved since launch. I'm using the same machine as then and the 'clunkiness' of movement seems to have been corrected. The legacy system is now viable with the patch, so that is nice. There are a few quality games on the web, and a few more on the way--it is a player's market and the companies will do what it takes to rein in customers for a short duration.
  12. So standing around on the fleet passing cooties back and forth with my fellow cross realmers and I have to ask the question to the community, "How do you like having Jawa eyes?" I like it, mostly like having the fever and night sweats. But more importantly, a further question, "Is the Rakghoul plague a way for Jawa to be introduced as a playable race in the game?" Thoughts, comments, and errata below. Thank you.
  13. I would like to see an option for a player doing solo questing to be able to unpack 2 or more of their companions at once. This would obviously make them ineligible for grouping invites, but the game itself begs the question as to why this sort of thing is not available.
  14. i think that replay value would be very low (2 out of 10). i say this b/c i played a jedi consular to alderan, and an imperial agent to alderan. there is a quest that leads to one of the ulgos hiding in a broke down palace. same objectives in taking down the shields. fighting the guy--does he live or does he die? who needs light side points, who needs dark side points? doesn't matter what faction a person plays, there are a very limited number of quests in the game.
  15. In retrospect, during the Early Release build-up, there was a lot of epeen flapping over how great the CE was going to be, the massive advantages they would have over the scrubs who didn't buy CE, etc.
  16. Immersion is a sign of weakness. If anyone has played one or more MMOs in the past, I would suggest that the likelihood for the Immersion is substantially diminished. Congratulations, you are almost a connoisseur of gaming, but not quite. For now you must settle with the consolation that you have been innoculated against the effects of Immersion which are many.
  17. i think that the main issue with SWToR that future developers should learn from is to not mix the genres, in this case fusing the standard BioWare story formula with the more social raid and guild driven content of an MMO. main problem at this point, as per the OPs comment is that the content has run out. This is essentially where SWtOr is most evidently a standard console game, rather than an MMO. Had the game been offered with console platform, or as a one time purchase with DLC for the various storylines, and montly fee to unlock MMO aspects (raids, pvp, etc) then i think many of the various shortcomings of the content could be overlooked. there are likely other solution models that could be suggested but it seems that there is no reason to expect any response in this regard from the owner/operators who it seems are soon to be opening more servers in the asian market--there will be less incentive to cater to the playerbase as long as marginal profits are acceptable.
  18. i haven't logged on in about a week it was nice to witness a Skyrim aurora borealis during the day/night cycle, but somebody stole my sweet roll. Somebody in the know ought to do a comparison of the Creation engine as compared to the Hero engine. presently casting about for a solid game--I left WAR prior to the latest server merge (NA) and the coming year promises to be filled with great titles--but part of gaming experience is knowing when to walk away.
  19. it all depends on when 1.2 comes out in relation to the release of D3. the question will then be whether 1.2 is enough to keep the first major exodus of players interested in tOR. this release cycle is going to be brutal for all competitors--I read an article the other day about how Trion is releasing Rift in Asia soon, so there is a lot of competitive maneuvering in high circles. tOR had better come up with the goods and quickly or it will be a speedbump.
  20. The story in tOR is not even of the same caliber of Kotor (1 or 2). I was thinking along these lines this morning about what made Kotor so great and it was the 'discovery' of the unknown history of the universe, the archaeological Eureka that was the selling point for me. The tOR storyline is lazy, it lives like a parasite on the remains of Kotor but really provides nothing new or interesting.
  21. I have to agree and say the idea crossed my mind more than once. This is not (Not) one of those MMOs where a player would need to invest more than a year to have the game experience. In this regard it is essentially a console game with multi-player perks. If it were sold as an 'offline' type game with the option to purchase 'online' i.e. group content then it would be well worth the money. As a sub based game, however, it becomes obvious after one month that the MMO label is about the only thing that actually is MMO in this game.
  22. the Clone Wars cartoon on Cartoon Network has better and more immersive stories than tOR and easily eclipses the prequels in character development and plot. i can't get over how unbelievably bad the tOR story and 'acting' is, it seems like a prerequisite for being a Sith lord is attending clown college. I don't know who greenlighted this mess, it just boggles my mind that any professional was behind this sort of thing, and I likewise do not understand how this game storyline could form the basis of a career in the field. Just my opinion I suppose, but questions like this always devolve to matters of Taste.
  23. I won't compare tOR to WoW, that would be unfair. For a comparable launch and first year tOR must be compared to Rift. Until the first year is up, this jury will still be out.
  24. Is time linear? On a serious note, I find the number of carbonite frozen mooks inhabiting the game a bit lore bending. I also wonder why all the architecture is the same no matter what planet I am on, there is nothing distinct on either side of the realm divide.
