  1. To be fair I've never understood this argument, I work 50 hours a week, have a wife and 2 kids and have maybe time to play 3 days a week at about 3 to 6 hours depending on what time I can log in after the kids are asleep. I have a level 50 who is full Columi with a few Rakata pieces, I'm still breaking into Denova. The only thing that is the bane of my play style is the BH commendations on the daily grinds that are setting a new gear standard, I can keep up through doing Ops once a week and HM FPs here and there but the time required to do the BH dailies is what I don't have (and frankly have no real interest in).
  2. I read that as well, but to be honest that doesn't bother me too much as 1 -49 is pretty much a solo game anyway, it will have no effect on PvP due to bolster pre-50, the only thing that will cause me to get upset is if they start selling items pre-50 with expertise on them. That is the definition of P2W as it gives a direct advantage over others (pre-50 there isn't any gear with expertise on the commendation merchant except level 49 armour).
  3. There will also be limitations in the new content as like the level raise with Makeb, the F2P player will have to buy the right to go above level 50 etc, so it maybe a case of we all pay and then the F2P players have to pay extra to access a lot of it.
  4. So long as I'm not paying the same price as the F2P players then probably, if they sell the subscribers the entire package at a single low price and the F2P players the expansion in pieces so that if they want all of it it will cost 4 times what a subscriber pays then I won't have too much of a problem with it.
  5. Oh I agree, the issue is the "pay" part if I am a subscriber, if they want to make it a basic requirement to own such equipment to remain competitive, as a subscriber I expect it to turn up in my character's mail box, nickel and dime the f2p crowd not me.
  6. I think for most people it will be the other way around, as a smuggler healer if I can't get a group I'll switch to dirty fighting DPS and then go back on the group finder, I certainly won't be getting an off spec set and will be rolling on healing gear and not DPS gear.
  7. Nope, and had they put PtW items in the collector's edition store I wouldn't even be here now.
  8. These are the only things that separated TOR from any other MMO, they are the selling point that brought the Starwars fans and KOTOR fans to TOR, they have no real choice to be honest without these being added those 2 types of player will not hang around much longer than completing all of the 8 class stories.
  9. Tionese boots with comm bought blackhole mods in them make HM Ops irrelevant for gearing.
  10. Sandbox elements and exploration elements won't have any effect any more, they have gone the root of instances, group finders and queues. No one is going to travel any where to reach content, they will just complain until it can be added to a queuing system with a teleport. My biggest disappointment is lack of anything open world post 50, and pre 50 no multigroup content. They should have broken away from endgame mentality, make the levelling process and story longer and all of the FPs up until 50 should be playable as 4, 8,12 and 16 man groups to get away from the solo game feel. The other point is the game is linear until 50 after that it's chaotic with no real line of progression, operations should release one set of gear, that can be upgraded trough tier 1 Ops, that can be upgrade by tier 2 Ops. Not only that but the Ops should be chained so that drops in one open unlock the next. Now what you have is do a few HM flash points for Tionese shells, then use BH comms to fill them up with mods rendering Columi and Rakata gear irrelevant.. That's what is destroying the game, people are skipping all of the content because better gear is obtainable by doing the same random 4 or 5 HM FPs from the group finder.
  11. I would assume it depends on if or not you have a British phonetic pronunciation or an American one.
  12. That's not really difficult, you sub you get the content, your sub ends your content is restricted until you resub or buy it.
  13. I agree with you, I personally quit DDO when it went FtP and I quit LoTRO after they introduced skirmishes (it went form a good MMO with everyone travelling the open world to get to instances and raids to people sitting around and teleporting into instances (it was still sub based on the Euro servers when I left). I do particularly mind paying for an expansion, as a subscriber I've done that for years in EQ, but my sub had better give me far more content in that expansion than a FtP player.
  14. To be honest the best thing you can do for your alt is max all companion affection on your main, the boost in mitigation you get from the presence bonus from all 5 maxed companions will be more than enough to level to around level 40 even if you are using quest based greens and blues. Equipment wise just buy the low level legacy orange from the vendor on one of the capital worlds and then do appropriate level heroics and flashpoints on your level 50 to fill the armour up every 10 levels from drops and comms (you will have to mail the armour backwards and forwards as the armour is lagacy bound but the mods to put in it will be bound).
  15. The argument then hinges around how much the cartel coins cost, if 400 coins cost $10 then I expect as a subscriber to receive 600 coins a month. If I'm getting only 150 coins per month (as they have stated) then cartel coins should be selling to the FtP crowd at $1 per coin so that 400 coin item will cost $400.
  16. I'd argue that dual-spec is content that pay to win and should be a free content update for subscribers.
  17. The way I see it they have left themselves with a limited number of choices: 1) Paid expansion; everyone pays but the content has locks and limitations for the FtP players while the subs get full access. 2) Free expansion (the base game will be free for both new subs and FtP players) subs get full access FtP have to pay for each piece individually. 3) Paid expansion; everyone gets full access but all updates to that expansion have to be bought by the FtP players. In my mind option 1 will not sell to the FtP crowd, option 2 will not sell to subscribers and will lose them subscription, while option 2 is fair. I don't see how they can charge for an expansion when the game will be a free download, subscribers won't put up with it.
  18. It's not compulsory to have all of your characters maxed out.
  19. And anything more than 5 levels will have people quitting the game due to the fact that lots of people do not want an level increase without additional class story, it's the only real selling point of this game that sets it apart from other MMOs
  20. Actually I'd say more people bought this game due to Starwars "fluff" and Bioware's reputation for story telling than as an MMO, I'd be happy if they went with the story and fluff in it's entirety and let the people looking for just another MMO endgame go to other games in the 1st place, they would have retained more players. A lot of people left not because they lacked MMO content (although they lost a lot due to this) but because the story and enjoyment of the game ended at 50 and turned into daily grind and queue systems. Enough with the PvP, Ops and FPs already, give me 10 levels and another 30 hours of story to play, I can get the rest of the stuff in any other MMO on the market and if I want to queue for capture the flag I can find a FPS game to play.
  21. Windows 7 is a standard now and is 64 bit, but most computers are still sold with a base of 4gig RAM and there are still players using Windows XP.
  22. I don't think the bowcaster is required for that, just the fact that a wookie could rip you arm of and beat your head in with the soggy end should suffice.
  23. The PvP belt and Wrist items are non-moddable just like the PvE ones, the Tionese, Columni and Rakata wrists and belts don't have removable mods either so raiding won't change that at all. all things are equal, mostly your moddable belts and wrists need to be filled with armourings bought with daily comms.
  24. To be honest no, I've been on holiday for 2 weeks, just got back a week ago.
  25. I had to ope 40 smugglers boxes for the 6 items, but it was quite painless, just go into the shared PvP area on Nar Shadaa, no body uses it and you have 12 boxes all to yourself.
