  1. Is that 25% total across all cores, or 25% on each core. I have an I7 as well (slower than yours) Swtor does not take advantage of all the cores. That is why the recommendation of an fast I5. I tend to see 2 or 3 cores get slammed and rest low utilization.
  2. Back in early 2014 with 3.0 update they did some work on the graphics that caused some folks to have lower framerates. A lot of that IIRC was due to the UI screen draws and scaling. This has since been improved some, but may want to play with some settings. If you google swtor graphics updates 2014 you should see an article from Dulfy that talks about it. No idea if this is an issue, but worth looking into.
  3. From my personal experience variations in rate are a much bigger impact that actual frame rate. If you had a set FPS with consistent drawing and non blurred animation or motion like you do on a movie, I believe you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between 30 and 60. (could you in a movie, I doubt it). when it goes from 70 to 30 then back, that generates most of the complaints. Even setting at monitor refresh rate for max FPS it bounces around that. Nature of it. Thus higher is better as it masks the variations some.
  4. I agree with the innovative part. Not much has changed. Interestingly, KOTFE does seem to be a change to the standard MMO formula some. I do not agree with the statement about poor design is the reason for cash shops. If you consider MMO prices are basically the same as it was 10 years ago (less depending on inflation factor of some currency) and the demands of the MMO audiences are for for "more, bigger, better" It's clear there needed to be a way to increase revenue. (staff salaries like most expenses have not been static, but core audiences balk at paying more than traditional $15USD a month.) Thus the cash shops. The good part of this model is folks have a choice whether to buy or not. But clearly Bioware hopes you buy. As do most other MMO's.
  5. I took that as actual cutscene length time. So would be considerably more actual play time.
  6. Hard to say what they mean by revamping, but the overall leveling is not smooth with the 12x multiplier. Not that gear is that important but the gearing is just off (not hard to see why as the flow was not built with this in mind) this is particularly true with companion gear if you do only class story missions. So my guess is they change the reward planetary quest structure to allow a more natural gear update.
  7. There is some work there. Do you bolster the old story content (essentially all quests would auto scale). How would they handle decision point variables that carried forward? (no changes after first play through?) Back end mechanics seems like it would be the real issue. No doubt it could be done, but is it worth taking effort from other stuff?
  8. Read a lot today, catching up. It is an interesting approach they are taking. Not sure if you are right about the battlefront competition. Gaming seems to be a pretty segmented market, however it is clear they believe the ROI is there for back end work on the group content while spending to produce RPG like story content on a monthly cadence next year for subscribers. The easier approach would have been just to keep it the same and add a flashpoint or two. It looks to me like they are digging in for the long haul based on the believe story will carry them in the year of star wars. Given budgets and monthly burn rates are probably built through q2 of next year they have to have some metric to base this on. Seems like a safe bet they have this under control. But your right, it is all business.
  9. This may be what you see out of the change, but based on what they have said, it is a much larger backend change than that. That may not make you happy now, or later for that matter but they would not undertake that change if it did not provide a positive ROI for the effort.
  10. Thus the warning and back to the speeding analogy.
  11. Beating a dead horse I realize, but just need to point out, This is not correct. it is not the intent but the act. The difference between ban and warning is where intent comes in.
  12. Good analogy. I have a good friend that is a police officer. if you go over the speed limit even a little it is speeding, he may not stop you tho. However, if you don't even make any acknowledgement that you are speeding (ie slow down while he is there) the chance he turns the lights on is much higher. He takes that as a lack of respect for the rules. Bottom line folks, if you did it you did it. Good luck with the Jail house lawyering tho.
  13. Not very good at this raiding evangelist job are you. So exactly what are you trying to accomplish other than say raiders are the core mmo audience.
  14. Maybe referencing an interview after e3 on IGN, which stated flashpoints, Ops, PVP, etc (the MMO bits) is being developed but the emphasis "this year" was on the story.
  15. well, you could trying clicking on contact us in Eric's signature. Technical support option on right gives methods and numbers.
  16. You're correct. A thunderstorm here knocked me offline in mid post. I came back and goofed it. Apologies Its what I get for trying to respond to a troll anyway.
  17. Edit this post was intended to quote the troll...To Reno, sorry about that. All they did was call out two games that made "significant" contributions to the quarterly earnings. Why they chose to do that is their business. So any other inferences or assumptions are not facts but opinions. If they did not feel FIFA 3 was doing acceptably they would have left it off the list. If they did not think SWTOR was doing acceptably they would not have stated it. Your combining them is an odd sort of spin that seems to be geared toward downplaying the results. Great trolling but other than that, not particularly enlightening. PS for your position to have any real mean please define significant in monetary terms......Because if you can't, summing them also is meaningless. There I have given you the way to continue to troll an otherwise straight forward quarterly report. Good Luck.
  18. Your all over the map on this thread. Troll points to you sir. You have adequately generated page views and even got me to comment. I commend you.
  19. Your applying I hope. Good job making the call with no idea what the infrastructure looks like.
  20. No game is "completely free to play". If it was, how are they getting paid. Glad you like it however and hope you have fun playing.
  21. fair enough, I will leave it t this. if you intent was to have a discussion on the event, I think that has been lost. if the intent was to have a pvp match then you succeeded.
  22. Actually in this model - accounts do matter. Subs are only one tier of the model. The only thing that was stated recently was a couple of articles you can google that state EA has the star wars license locked up for 10 yrs and while early expectations for SWTOR were too ambitious the costs have been brought in line and the business is meeting profitability targets. (paraphrase but think that is pretty close - google swtor and profitability - you should find it) Keep in mind in FTP subs are not the measure - it is accounts and they have a metric around how many accounts will spend money. So more accounts more chances money is spent. All in all game seems fine based on what is being said in public. Good thing too with EA having SW license, this is where the money will flow for a SW MMO content.
  23. this is true, they have stated in developer diaries or post somewhere (maybe it was a cantina event) that they considered it and tabled it for now, but would consider it for a future update. There are issues with how this would be implemented.
  24. while true, it is not a long run advantage. The option is there to give you benefit to all your ships. You will have to turn around and do it again for each ship you want to upgrade. The only arguable benefit is buying more ships to get the bonus...but that is pretty insignificant benefit over the long run. Skill with the ship matters more than anything else.
