You can always disable Bitraider, then you will have to redownload the whole game again, but once that is done, you should be able to play without problems. Disabling Bitraider is highly recommended since you will get way less launcher errors.

To disable BitRaider, go to your SWTOR folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic), open the file "launcher.settings" in Notepad.

Find the line
, "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"BR\" }"
and replace it with:
, "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }"

Also find the line:
, "bitraider_disable": false
and replace it with:
, "bitraider_disable": true

Then save the file and start the launcher again.

Also, thanks for posting your launcher log, I forwarded that to the CMs and hopefully they can figure out what is wrong.

Which Launcher Repair Utility did you use? Note that they updated the Launcher Repair Utility, P1.8.2 is the old version. You can get the new version D2.0.1 here.

I used the newest version. That's when the problems and "Certificate authentication failed, please contact customer support." started.
I tried to make a fresh install, but the launcher spits the same error.

What operating system do you have? Windows Vista, Windows 7/8 or Windows 10?

Also, can you please post your launcher logs? Those can be found in your SWTOR folder in the logs subfolder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\logs). Pick the newest one and either paste it here in spoiler tags, or upload it to http://pastebin.com and link it.

I just tested the new utility (D2.0.1) and it works fine for me (though I do get a SmartScreen filter warning that I ignore).

What operating system do you have? I have Windows 10; maybe it is an issue with Windows Vista/Windows 7?

I run this on linux + wine. Have been running this fine, so you need not tell me it's not supported.

for the statistical types, i ran the launcher repair, worked fine, and am not using bit-raider.

I'm still trying to repair my files but to no avail. It keeps repeating repairing 81 files over and over again.

I'm starting to worry this could be the issue. I run on Linux too.

This is from a system that I tried to run the launcher, the window closed but the process was still running in the background, and when I try to run the game again, the process runs in the background, but the launcher window never appears.

According to Customer Service, you need to check Windows Update and make sure you have all updates installed on Windows XP. It has been a long time since I used Windows XP but I believe that you need to have Service Pack 3 installed to get the "modern" SHA-256 certificates working.

Sadly, no news for Linux+Wine, that will have to be fixed either by the SWTOR devs or the Wine developers, I fear.

Does anyone know why the repair function on the launcher keeps repeating repairing 81 files? It does go to installing but goes back to repeating repairing 81 files.

Just in case it helps to know:

I'm using Windows 10, Creators Update, Version 1703. The launcher updated just fine for me. I did it just a couple of minutes ago, and it took less than a minute to update.

This is from a system that I tried to run the launcher, the window closed but the process was still running in the background, and when I try to run the game again, the process runs in the background, but the launcher window never appears.

I noticed that you are getting the error with launcher version "D1.0.18".

Are you sure that you used the Launcher Repair Utility? Because then it should have said "D2.0.1", also then the size of launcher.exe is 7477632 bytes, not 8048224 bytes.

Version "D1.0.18" works fine for me on Windows 10, but there the executable is signed with a SHA1 certficate. On "D2.0.1", the execulable is signed with a SHA-256 certificate, so maybe that version will work for you.

Please try the new Launcher Repair Utility and make sure that in the logs, it has version D2.0.1 and the size of launcher.exe is 7477632 bytes.

Vista 32bit and certificate error here.

Vista should have support for SHA-256 certificates by default, so not sure what's going on, sorry.

Does anyone know why the repair function on the launcher keeps repeating repairing 81 files? It does go to installing but goes back to repeating repairing 81 files.

It could be that your hard drive is failing and randomly losing files.

Try running chkdsk to make sure your hard drive is ok. First, make sure that the launcher.exe is closed in Task Manager. Then, I recommend reinstalling the game, you can either delete the whole folder and install it from scratch, or delete the *.version files in your installation folder, this will trigger a full redownload. But I recommend a full reinstall.

I've been constantly deleting the entire folder and copying it back to my PC from the shared drive I have at home but to no avail. The same thing keeps on happening no matter what I do.

I have never seen an update this screwed up. I cannot even open my launcher now. Click on my shortcut and nothing appears to happen. Click again and a message pops up saying "only a single instance of the application can run". But I see nothing running.

I have also this problem.

Bummer, I figured that might have been the issue. In that case, I can't really help you, sorry. Hopefully, the devs can fix the launcher for you, but I fear they don't care about Linux players.

Tryed many times, but it is still only in the background.

I did run the older version, trying to revert to previous, and see if it would re-run the update. Like I said, after many attempts at troubleshooting, the logs could be a mess.

I re-run the repair file. The log doesn't change (no new data). I guess because the launcher doesn't start, just spits the certificate problem.

The last entry is from 17:15, and it's 20:30 here now. The log shows when I first tried to run the game.

My Linux should support SHA-256, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work, if this is an issue. Paths? I don't think I can do anything about it.

I also run it on a Wine Virtual Drive (PlayOnMac), the issue occured as soon as the launcher updated, then it disappeared. I went for a fresh install but still nothing... Really hope devs will intervene given the fact that even Windows users are having trouble..

Tried repairing the launcher, fresh installs, still getting certificate errors. Date and time are correct. Tried disabling bitraider.

Nothing works

"Launcher is being updated. Please wait"
