After using the repair tool I get "Certificate authentication failed, please contact customer support." It appeared after finishing installation of that repair exe, and now pops if I try to run the game.

Dear Eric I am a subscriber and since the new update I cannot play anymore because your launcher will not download any files I have my firewall and antivirus disabled and that does not solve it so I know for sure the problem is in your software before the update yesterday I could play without problems.. Please fix this as soon as possible so that I can play again it is not fair I have to pay but cannot play. I will cancel my subscription if today I cannot play anymore.

Hey folks,

The launcher issue has been resolved. If you currently have the launcher open you will need to close it and reopen it to receive the new patch. This shouldn't take long and you will then be able to login normally. If you run into any issues, you can run the launcher repair utility as explained here.

I have never seen an update this screwed up. I cannot even open my launcher now. Click on my shortcut and nothing appears to happen. Click again and a message pops up saying "only a single instance of the application can run". But I see nothing running.

I repaired the launched as requested and now get the following error:

"Certificate authentication failed, please re-install to correct the problem"

I have made a clean instead into a new folder and it gives me the same error message. So I cannot even start the launcher at all. ***, Bioware? What was so important about that launched update anyway?

I have SWTOR on two systems. On one I get the same thing: after my attempt to update the launcher, it disappeared, but the process was running. That's probably the other instance you have running too. It runs somewhere in the background, but doesn't show on the screen.

On the other system, after the above happened, I used the repair utility and now get this "Certificate authentication failed, please contact customer support."

I can't log into the game on either system.

"Certificate authentication failed, please contact customer support."

This after running the recommended launcher repair utility. Which had it's own error. This is just... rediculous.

I looked at the web page regarding the repair utility, am running Vista, so looked at the so-called instructions for that... what the...?? Give me a break. mdchecksum ... riiiight. I'll get right on that.

If I can't play, I'm unsubscribing. It's that simple.

This should kill most of the launcher-problems. Place it in your swtor-directory before you run it.

If this doesn't help, I suggest to safe alle game-files (important folders: assets, movies, swtor) and make a clean reinstall of the swtor-base-files.

That reinstall will include the launcher and will replace all false paths, certificates etc.. Be sure to have the game-files (folders assets, movies, swtor) saved before. These are the biggest files, that have to be downloaded, when reinstalling the whole game. Follow the installation until the launcher have updated itself and trys to download the game. Then put the saved folders back in the game-directory and run the launcher again.

This won't take any longer then 20 minutes.

If that fails, then you can be sure, that the problem is not on your side.

never fails every time there is launcher update it fails to update automatically, I have resort to using the newest repair launcher, which resets bitraider to being used which is utter **** so have to terminate launcher before does any thing to revert it back original non streaming launcher

But what really blows my mind is this has been happen since day one of the game launched on ever single computer i ever had swtor on if there is launcher update it will fails to update automatic with fail to update host goes in to this loop and has the newest repair launcher file has to be use. I would thought they could figure this out by now but i guess not

And can we please put option in the installer/repair launcher where we can pick to use bitraider or not? majority of want nothing to do with bitiradier for reason yet you keep forcing by default

Firewall and antivirus disabled I used the launcher repair utility from "http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/LauncherRepairUtilityD2.0.1.exe" Following this guide "https://help.ea.com/en/help/star-wars/star-wars-the-old-republic/swtor-launcher-troubleshooting-guide/" this is as far as how installation goes 0 it will no go further that stupid update broke the game and now as a subscriber at time of writing still cannot play and customer support is not giving any feedback not even this forum there is 4 more hours in this day if by then it is not solved and I still cannot play I will unsubscribe and give money to never winter or star trek online at least those games are playable. This is not the first time that a new update broke the game client making it unable to play the game. The game installation remains at 0%

I don't see any info on why the launcher was updated...

Was it just cosmetic changes, or was there a fix for any issues?

Firewall and antivirus disabled I used the launcher repair utility from "http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/LauncherRepairUtilityD2.0.1.exe" Following this guide "https://help.ea.com/en/help/star-wars/star-wars-the-old-republic/swtor-launcher-troubleshooting-guide/" this is as far as how installation goes 0 it will no go further that stupid update broke the game and now as a subscriber at time of writing still cannot play and customer support is not giving any feedback not even this forum there is 4 more hours in this day if by then it is not solved and I still cannot play I will unsubscribe and give money to never winter or star trek online at least those games are playable. This is not the first time that a new update broke the game client making it unable to play the game. The game installation remains at 0%

You can always disable Bitraider, then you will have to redownload the whole game again, but once that is done, you should be able to play without problems. Disabling Bitraider is highly recommended since you will get way less launcher errors.

To disable BitRaider, go to your SWTOR folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic), open the file "launcher.settings" in Notepad.

Find the line

, "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"BR\" }"

and replace it with:

, "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }"

Also find the line:

, "bitraider_disable": false

and replace it with:

, "bitraider_disable": true

Then save the file and start the launcher again.

Also, thanks for posting your launcher log, I forwarded that to the CMs and hopefully they can figure out what is wrong.

This after running the recommended launcher repair utility. Which had it's own error. This is just... rediculous.
I looked at the web page regarding the repair utility, am running Vista, so looked at the so-called instructions for that... what the...?? Give me a break. mdchecksum ... riiiight. I'll get right on that.

If I can't play, I'm unsubscribing. It's that simple.

Is it supposed to show a download bar or something? I just get that little spinny circle but no visual confirmation of anything happening.

This for me, and it's still ongoing after it's supposedly been "fixed".... can't login still. So frustrating

This is an outdated Launcher Repair Utility that installs the old launcher which no longer works correctly. Happy to hear you can login, but once today's problems are fixed, make sure to once again get the current launcher so you won't have issues in the future. The current Launcher Repair Utility can be downloaded here: http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/LauncherRepairUtilityP1.8.2.exe but they'll likely offer a new one after today's patch.

a) put that CDN on https (you expect use to download some stupid binary **** on an unsecure line, thanks!)

b) put up a link to the current version, best directly on the server as LaucherRepairWatchamacallit.current.exe?

Oh, and of course, the certificates are OK again, but the launcher still fails to do anything. Resolved, my ***.

They updated certificates - which were not supposed to expire until October. So instead of launcher breaking then, they decided to have it break NOW

Mine is also stalled out and when I use the new patch fixer I also get the bs Certificate not right contact customer support so getting this fixed asap would be great.....

I just tested the new utility (D2.0.1) and it works fine for me (though I do get a SmartScreen filter warning that I ignore).

What operating system do you have? I have Windows 10; maybe it is an issue with Windows Vista/Windows 7?

I used the newest version. That's when the problems and "Certificate authentication failed, please contact customer support." started.

I tried to make a fresh install, but the launcher spits the same error.
