Update on Roadmap

It's not just writing a list.

If he hasn't already communicated the roadmap to the people in his department then things are worse that I had hoped, and to say that nobody working for him is capable of putting together a draft for his approval would be really, really sad, and I hope that is not the case.

Thanks for the update!

All great points on the list; faster mounts and return of the casino event have been requested for a long time.

I don't remember ever seeing a player request companion influence from crew skills but that's a great change, and makes much more sense than using gifts for hours and hours. Too bad I can't use the MTX companions for crafting...

I don't really care much about T1 gear and GSF but I'm happy for the players that do.

Hey everyone,

Wanted to provide an update on my first Producer Roadmap, but getting it published is taking longer than I anticipated. Partly my own fault, as my Dad came to visit and I took a few days off over the past couple of weeks to spend time with him. This ultimately slowed my progress but I am back in full swing now and pushing to get the roadmap completed.

I honestly thought I would have had the roadmap done and communicated already, but, I realistically need more time to finalize it. Translated: That means end of this month, but with full intention of delivering it sooner. <sad face> This is not something I wanted to tell you, but I promised to keep you up-to-date on what’s happening.

While you continue to wait, here’s a few highlights of Game Update 5.2.2 scheduled for mid-June (yes, in 2017):

  • The Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event returns with old and some awesome new rewards
  • New Character Perks to increase your speeder piloting speed to 120% and 130%
  • Companions will gain influence through standard crew skill missions
  • Full Tier 1 gear available from existing Fleet vendors using Command Tokens – this means you can obtain a full bonus gear set for under 800 Command Tokens. You will be able to choose the type of gear you want to purchase (DPS, Tank, or Healer).
  • We made a variety of changes to Galactic Starfighter – primarily aimed at reducing the cost, increasing requisition rewards, and offering all players a Gunship and Bomber as standard ships (available in your hangar).

I will continue to pass on roadmap updates as I have them. We do have an exciting year ahead of us and I look forward to sharing it you.

---Keith

Thanks. Hopefully we get the full road map soon. You just confirmed though that nothing is coming in the next 2 month.

The two important questions are:

1) When is class balance coming.

2) When is content coming (new FP, dailies, ops and WZs).

I cannot emphasize enough that class balance is a major issue currently. It has been the worst since I could remember. If there is no confirmation it is coming in 5.2.2 (which is more than 6 month since 5.0), and no new content, it is a clear sign that we should cut our subs.

I am so excited about being able to build companion influence without costly bribery with gifts. Yes, there's a price -- the price of the crafting, which we already pay and for which we get something. Good solution.

It makes me hopeful that other avenues -- such as many more chances to get influence in previous content, like SoR, even heroics, might be available some day. The old Belsavis bonus series as a predictable way to level up influence was a good thing and it is sorely missed.

Also, faster speeder piloting is good. There are places on Tatooine and Hoth (like heading to world bosses, etc...) where quick travel isn't viable and getting there a bit faster would be useful.

And hey, if I can terrorize poor travelers in spaceports, all the more fun!

I don't see why says private things here...

,,We couldn't add "this" becouse our member of stuff child is ill." (few days ago, forgot about what it was)

,,I couldn't show road map earlier becouse my dad ~~~~."

Really it's looks unprofessional. Better to say You couldn't becouse of private things .

It's looks like playing on players emotions.

Waiting for info that new story expansion will come in 2020 becouse one of swtor team is ill or on vacations and player's posts here "Oooh okay we understand that, we'll keep sub, have a good fun!"

All the time changing gearing in swtor (more rng all the time), cartel market things etc.

Where's new PvP maps? Alliance map (i like it) after few years? One map?

Now after 2 years one ops with (!) ONE BOSS + every new boss after few weeks, STAY SUB! (In past 2 complete new ops in update)

If not "star wars" in game title i probably would leave game 2 years ago. Still have hope for this game, but it's looks like "Let's add more CM stuff, and short iokath story and one ops boss to shut them mouths for another few weeks."

My mates in game already laugh about swtor team.

36 days of sub and im wondering if it's worth to buy another half year...

end of the month marked down, although i would of preferred a window rather than a promise on such things, never know what the future holds from one day to the next. would hate to see the first promise made and it failed to be delivered on for the new producer.

in any event, 130% speed? it's fine but i don't want to see it get much quicker than that, prefer to let the scale of the map remain very large and it taking time to get around, the sense of it shouldn't be ignore for instant gratification.

Private? His DAD was visiting him. He took off work to spend more time with his father...that's not "unprofessional", it's honest.

You do realize...these guys are all HUMAN right?

Excellent, thanks for the update. I'm looking forward to the GSF stuff. I still have no idea what I'm doing in there, however I will probably get the hang of it by Christmas :D

Tier 1 bonus gear for command tokens is great - my alts can be dusted off again and played as more than crew skill fodder.

All we need now is an announcement in favour of missing/current companions (*cough* Quinnmancers need more love *cough*) and I may collapse with excitement.

Really it's looks unprofessional.

And that's important because...?

Let's be honest - I do expect my girlfriend's gynecologist to be discrete and professional. The people who design a game I play don't have to be the utmost example of professional behaviour. Quite the contrary, I actually enjoy a close-knit and unserious discussion between developers and their community. That's why I always enjoyed the Cantina events. I think I visited two or three community cantinas in Germany, and they were all great fun. I think a group of us ended up sitting with Musco at a table and chatting when things calmed down. We got in some questions about conquest and some funny stories involving the development of SWTOR.

Long story short: I don't see why mentioning this should be seen as overly unprofessional. And I dare to assume that people would've just constructed his delay as "EA is giving him the fingers!" or "the team has nothing to show! I KNEW IT!" if he didn't provide a reason why he was absent. So, all kudos to him for being honest with us and dispelling any rumors outright.

Besides, I'm German. This might sound a little bit awkward, but if one of us thinks that something is not "unprofessional" or "inefficient", then you might be overreacting.

I've three accounts and two computers, that would really help me out really fast.

As you can see, abuse would be too easy to commit.

Everything in this game can be abused regardless of what it is. The social system is not one of the things I'd really give a flip about someone "abusing" with all things considered.

i honestly don't care about the problems keith has, his private concerns are his business and it should remain as such. the only part i really care about is the part he mentioned that he's got his head back on and getting back into his job.

i don't mean any disrespect about it but i really don't want to know, it's just not my business to know.

I may be a filthy uncultured American, but I studied German in both high school and college, and therefore I found this comment hilarious! Thank you for the laugh, I needed it! :D

2) The Companion Influence Gain from Crew Skill Missions is welcome; but my gut tells me you are doing that to allow us to increase Influence with additional Companions because some of us my be losing Companions we have already invested a lot in to. If that is the case can I urge you to rethink that very quickly, and appropriately reprimand whoever it is that keeps on coming up with this horrible idea. We want still-missing Companions back, no to lose other Companions.

If you need your high influence companions for mechanical reasons, and have lost them to story, you can retrieve them via the companion return terminal. I've done this a couple of times for high-influence companions. In-story, your companions are pretty much chosen for you, so if you want to be sure to have a high-inf companion in-story, you have to invest in a lot of them anyway.

The Companion Return Terminal is a effective (if a little ugly) compromise, and I almost wish it were more visible.

I know, right?! How dare EAWare employees be human beings with lives outside their job and families, instead of slave robots coding away for our whims...

...that was sarcasm, by the way, just in case you couldn't tell.

Mr. Kanneg,

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your honesty, sincerity, and effort to communicate with the player base. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can accomplish with the game and understand there's a lot that goes on in the background. Being in the public eye can be very challenging so hang in there and don't lose heart.

Kind Regards,

-LW
