What do you guys do when you're in a rut and bored?

  • clean up inventory/cargo bays
  • go hunting for pleasure speeder parts (I get OCD and *have* to go through an area until it's depleted)
  • datacron hunting
  • replay old mini-games/quests on new characters (Orobird pet, Tauntaun pets, Adegan Crystals etc.)
  • create a new look for one of my characters or their companion and post it to TOR-fashion.com
  • earn some reputation with the factions I haven't completed yet
  • log out and play 2048

You log in one day and really don't have any specific goal in mind for the day. You're logging in simply to log in and see what you might want to do. When this happens, what do you typically end up doing? Send your companions out to do some crew skills and craft? Run dailies/weeklies? Queue for FPs or PvP? Go achievement hunting? Stand around in your Stronghold wondering why you logged in? What?

I think a possible answer response might be "log out and play something else" but I like to get value for my sub and at least do something when I have the time available. I'm just getting back to that stage where I'm questioning what to do with my time. I know I'm not alone here.

If you are bored with the MMO you are Sub'd to you already lost value on it.

I cancel my Sub and go play another MMO or participate in another hobby or recreational activity for a while, sometimes many months. It is why even though I have been associated with this MMO since Beta that I have not accomplished much here... because I find far too many things I disagree with Bioware on to stay more than a month or two at a time.

Sub money lost is money lost and can be regained. Time lost is lost forever. If you are bored with TOR go do something that you find is worth your time and come back to TOR later when you are ready to play again. You will enjoy a MMO much more when you are not creating reasons to stay... trust me I made this mistake in other MMOs many times all in the idea of "customer loyalty". Learn from my mistakes if anything else.

I sincerely hope you find the answer you seek, even if what I said doesn't fit your needs.

This happens to me all the time.

I find myself logged in and just running around in circles on fleet or trying to jump to certain areas. I think the reason for this, especially at end game is often I am waiting in queue for GSF or PVP to do my dailies. Like others said, I might check GTN, chat with guild, or what not, but typically it's about 10-15 minutes of nothing and then I log. This is usually late at night before bed so I'm pretty sure any rut is due to me being tired. If I'm logged in with nothing to do, I think it's time for a nap as it's a sign that my brain doesn't have the energy to actually do other things.

If that's how I feel, I don't log in.
Thankfully, I have a litany of alternative activities to keep me busy when I just can't find enough SWTOR Viagra to make logging in worthwhile: There's cobbling, tribal throat-singing, competitive cornhusking, Finger-Puppet Shakespeare Theatre (you've missed out if you've never seen my thumb play Hamlet: "Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to endure the splinters and hangnails of outrageous fortune ...."), playing blindfolded/silent charades with my friends, concocting new smoothie recipes using Tilapia, and internet strip poker (without webcams).

When I lose my zest for one hobby, it's nice to have others.

I keep it simple and stick to reading books and stuff like that.

While I'm certain I would enjoy your finger puppet show, I have to question your sanity when you mention tilapia smoothies...

I normally only pvp... So if I feel in a rut... I go do some class/companion quests... Another thing is gathering Datacrons if I missed any or just farming some high LVL mats in Yavin so I can craft ...

Occassionally I'll do a SecX daily run for a bit of nostalgia or to see if anyone is flagged for open world pvp... Lastly there is always Outlaws den to farm chests and anyone in the area doing the same

Last week I even did a couple of the old space mission dailies... I forgot they can be a fun side game if you haven't done them for awhile

Play something else. I just cancelled our subscriptions as we are down to playing about 2 hours a month.

Yep. That's what I did when I got tired of DDO (and I have no plans to go back at this point). Some with LotRO (I might return there when I get tired of TOR).

same here. 2 things I do when i'm bored:

1) play another MMO, or

2) do something around the house or yard, or perhaps even visit a RL friend. I know, crazy and daring am I !
