The Contraband Slot Machine

Just farm your own mats, out of your text i can read that it is really easy. That way, it is no longer a problem for you.

I do farm my own mats -- there's no way I'm paying the silly prices they go for most of the time on GTN.

Having the purple mats drop from the slot machine at a decent rate might have put enough extra in the pool to bring those prices down -- which is why certain people cried and moaned so much about it.

Max,

The drop rate was far too high. I believe as well they should still drop, at a rate much greater than present, but they dropped at such a rate as there was absolutely no reason to run any crafting gathering mission at all. Ever again.

Just bought a slot machine for myself off the GTN as a final 'unnecessary' treat prior to my sub running out in a couple of weeks. Stuck 300 tokens in the slot, got enough rep tokens to get to hero - One step shy of Legend, two Jawa Junk and a single green bit of scrap. Seems like a fair enough drop rate to me for the cost in tokens - Especially as it was all originally meant to be in paid for packs.

I have resisted, for the longest, and have not posted to this thread, since freakin' forever ago.... But why in helletron are people still talking about this? The new topic to hate on is Ziost! Get with the program, people!

The slot machine is....forever.

Because the devs love people with the minds of goldfish. That way they can just continue screwing up and the crowd of whines follows the current screw up and they are never then held accountable for past screw-ups that re still an issue and are evidence of future screw-ups in the making?

So, if five people keep posting in this thread, nothing bad will ever happen again? Thank you! Now Ziost is fixed!

Its amazing that cartel market items get such a fast response when concerns are raised and yet there are pages of threads in the operations forum and many bugs issues being reported at it just gets outright ignored.

How is that amazing? It's perfectly logical given that the CM is their top priority for making money.

I love the machine, it got me from newcomer to champion in less than 1 hour. Now I got my Eclipse!

Thanks Bioware!

That's rather the point. Another hour, or less, and you'll be at Legend and never use the slot machine again. They might as well just sell the rep tokens directly for creds.

I'd be okay with that, especially if they were as reasonably priced as you can get them with the slot machine.

It would be nice to make different coins to play, using one will give you the rep and the other coin let you get jawa junks stuff.

As a part of this community, i say no. And you had enough time to farm millions of credits with the old gaining machine, no need for any compensation. (not that there is any reasonable claim on it)

To bad for you, cause I am sure a huge part of the community wants the slot machines as they were released. So I shall keep bumping it to the top until they fix it. I will not let this rest.

The tiny amount of overly loud crafters making millions through crafting but not being interested in ANY content besides that have won.

Welcome to the age of catering anyone who cries loud enough.

Yeah thats why I keep "crying", cause I want this changed. The devs have always ignored this thread except for one or two posts and that was before a *****torm broke loose. They want us not to do that, then its now TIME TO CATER TO THE PEOPLE WHO WANT IT CHANGED!

No, statistics have won. And it is funny to call the slot machine "content". Warzones, new classes, flashpoints, Ops, that is content, not a single button wealth generator farmable afk while watching tv.

I figured I'd give it another shot before I give up on it entirely since in my naivety I thought it could be redeemed as a useful item. I spent some credits for 200 coins. Here are my results.

  • 40 banned holovids
  • 27 prohibited medical supplies
  • 12 confiscated artwork
  • No mount
  • No certificates

So out of 200 attempts I was rewarded at the least 79 times which is a 39% success rate. My superior item (blue) or higher success rate was 19% and my premium (purple) success rate was 6%. The rep to credit payout is 77,000 credits which means it paid out the return at 51.3%

I put this in another thread but it is my findings today after using 200 slot machine coins. I'm not sure if it is useful as I just recently started playing the game and I'm not that experienced with exactly how it was back in the days before it was nerfed.

There was some stuff on the reputation vendor that looked cool but I've all but given up on that idea. Contraband packs are near 600k+ on the GTN so that's not much better for me.

Regardless, live and learn.

Well i do not remember exactly, but you could do millions of credits in a few hours. One Person i remember (given stable market price) made more than 80 million profit through the week the machine madness was going on.

The end result of this process would be a net loss on every crew mission you run.

80m is quite a bit. :csw_vader: Think he has any left? I'm not even too interested in the credit return but I do think that some of the items look pretty awesome. The contraband packs are 600k+ and the slots don't grant certs or at least on a reliable drop rate so I guess I can forget about those items unless I want to pay millions upon millions.

Well, thats the bad thing with F2P games. They want to earn money with the shop and part of the shop are those certificates. If they make them available elsewhere, they will earn less money.

I would prefer a system where you can actually achieve things through playing the game, not buying them for $$$ or farming credits to buy them from others which spend $$$. But those times are over for swtor.

Everybody has their own definition of what they call content.

Any activity that you spend time on can be considered content. The real issue is whether or not it's content that you enjoy. Most people when they say the game has a lack of content actually mean that there is a lack of things that they enjoy doing. This game has a lot of content but most players might not touch half of it.

I spend hours and hours on Stronghold housing for example. I've seen various people say that SH's are not content...for me however it is content. I can imagine there are people who love slot machines. The event is coming back too. Apparently it appeals to some people.

Perhaps instead of an event or a decoration, Nar Shaddaa should just have a casino period and every few months the rewards that you can win change. It would take away a lot of issues for the whole gambling thing.

You can get certs from almost any pack other than the first set (which are usually very expensive). So once you have Legend with the Contraband vendors (from the CSM), you can buy whichever packs are cheapest (the current Deep Core packs are going for about 160K on my server) and sell whatever you get besides the certs to get money to buy more packs -- not exactly cheap, but probably better in the long run than the CSM or buying old packs hoping to get the stuff on the vendors to drop.
