A Thousand Papercuts

that reminds me of 2 more things-

1. speeder piloting costs are ridiculous- I believe whoever came up with the costs used this simple formula- (whatever amount of money the player should have by that point in the game) x2

2. There is absolutely no reason why some companion conversations should force you to go to your ship. I can understand stuff like part of SCORPIO's story that involves the ship; but some things are unnecessary- such as Torian dragging me to the ship just to have a conversation that could easily take place in a cantina.

Another one for me would be a designated vendor for end-game companion gear.

Yes, it is occasionally easy enough to just spend the left over tokens and give companions gear that way. But how about companions with odd items? Temple/Andronikis with Cunning Pistols is a good example. And do I even need to mention droids? Make this gear require a certain companion. Would be great.

As I said in the OP, I don't think that the general lag behind other games, graphics-wise, is to SWTOR's detriment, because most of the focus is on story. It's certainly a better looking game than WoW, for example. However, I put it at the end of my Lofty Ideas list as sort of a suggestion for future development roadmaps, so as to prevent a certain visual staleness to take over the game.

I cite EVE Online as my primary example, and the changes they've implemented over the years to the graphical capabilities of their game. All of those changes they've made haven't been purely to make things look pretty, although it certainly does. But it also increases the capabilities of their art department to realize grander and more complex visual styles to immerse the players within the world. And the underlying mechanics are also changed, performance improvements are introduced, reliance upon the CPU has reduced, production pipelines are streamlined, and overall production times as it relates to art or other content creation are reduced. Ultimately, those things are much more important for the game's longevity than its appearance, but the work can afford you having the cake and eating it too (in EVE's case).

Thanks for the insight, I do agree that there is room for improvement, space especially, and some of their skyboxes look low res too.

Some of my papercuts:

Daily Quests: The High Savant on Belsavis and Munitions Crates at the Black Hole are too few and too slow in respawn time to support the populations doing those quests. Additionally, some of the Belsavis vaults have crazy fast respawn timers meaning you ahve to clear them in both directions, while others are so slow you have to wait around forever to kill enough. The Torvix Heroic, while not hard, is annoying and time consuming for its minimal reward, The Belsavis Heroics bonus missions require you kill almost everything in the phase, for near no reward, they aren't very worthwhile bonus missions.

Companions: Though its been mentioned, gear class restrictions make it annoying to try and gear a companion in something I like. Don't like that they stare are you in contortions, their holstering of weapons is still broken, when you are in a group of 3 people and you are the one who is responsible for using your companion for the last slot, you need to resummon them all the freaking time. If you moved the companion frame in you UI being in a group will cause it to travel all over your screen. Companion dance from legacy is a 5 second ability that takes a precious bar slot, instead you should be able to target your companion and /dance(clubdance, etc) and stay dancing until you stop.

Spaceships: These are suppose to be our home, but there is no customization at all. The legacy items you can get are placed randomly around the ship and some are in bad places. The ships aren't well laid out either, and when over laid the interior with the exterior don't make sense or offer as much room as they could. Considering how awesome the Ebon Hawk and Normandy were, with great attention to detail the current ships feel like an afterthough that were tossed together. And what's up with the huge holoterminal, it doesn't makes sense for a small ship to have such a huge terminal, that takes up a huge chunk of space.

Hair: I have some, stop making it go away with hoods and hats. I'd also be thrilled if the "bald" spot that appears on the back of my head when I zoom out a little bit would be fixed as well.

A few suggestions for quality of life and additions:

  • The ability to loop music.

  • Fix the FPS freezing when dismounting a speeder.

  • Allow us to set the level of "Dark Side Corruption" that is seen.

  • Add the ability to rotate our characters in the Character Sheet.

  • Add the ability to zoom and move our characters in the gear preview sheet. Additionally a hi-def previewer would be nice.

  • Add something like a "Genetic Engineering Spa / Specialist" so that we can modify our appearence after the initial character creation. This would allow for all options within your species if unlocked.

  • Add more companion customizations additionally customizations for the 2V-R8 and C2-N2.

  • Please make the companions "Attack" and "Passive" abilities more reactive. It takes between 3 - 5 seconds for my companions to react to an attack command.

  • Ability to customize our characters animations somewhat would be nice; they are currently very uniform across an advanced class. Examples: left vs. right handed; multiple combat stances; change how weapons are held - lightsabers combat default position behind the back?

  • Please take some gear inspiration from the KOTOR games; the armor designs are nice especially the headgear I really liked the HUD sensors/visors look. Gear inspiration from the Force Unleashed games would be good too.

  • Please do something about the Marauder armor designs. I wear only Imperial Agent gear because it looks so much better.

  • Please no addons or at least extremely limited. I hate how many became mandatory in WoW. The increased UI customization was great and there is room for improvement. Just make the UI even better.

I stopped reading the post after the fifth page so some of these may have been repeats.

1. Dual Spec: I'm a PVP tank, but I DPS otherwise. It's a bit annoying to have to do my dailies in tank spec waiting for queue pops.

2. Open up the Galaxy: As vast and beautiful as most of the worlds are, the game feels way to closed off and linear. I think it's mostly due to the amount of time it takes to move from world to world, and while unfortunately the story line forces linearity, maybe a couple of fill-in worlds without class stories would help ease this problem. Taking a break from leveling on Tattooine to go play around on the level 25 quests on, oh I don't know, Yavin or Geonosis, would be a nice break!

3. Legacy Perks: I know this has been touched on, but quality of life things such as a linked legacy bank, mailing legacy ease, etc... would be really nice.

4. Allowing for add-ons: While I'm not a heavy user of add-ons, I know that the lack of customization is a turn-off to a lot of people. Even though I do use some such as damage meters, threat meters, alt management, this is just helpful to the players.

5. Open World PVP: We need it, badly. My suggestion is to start putting opposing bases closer together. That way players of opposing factions are crossing each others' paths constantly. My fondest memory of Vanilla WoW was the perpetual war between Southshore and Tarren Mill. It was awesome! Unfortunately, all of the bases are distanced from each other and very seldom do you see opposing players.

6. Making the Capitals Relevant: Everyone's stuck on the fleet stations, and to be honest, the fleets are bland. Unfortunately, we're stuck there waiting to turn in our daily PVP missions or we have to jump there to grab them. Let's put Daily Kiosks on all the planets, so we can get away from the fleets. Also, making Coruscant and Kaas City important, along with major hubs on a couple of other planets would break up a lot of monotony. On the subject of world PVP, it's past time we raid Coruscant, Kaas City and the Fleets.

7. Gear: Nothing is scarier that noticing in Voidstar that The Creature From the Black Lagoon is casting Force Lightning at you, but it's not what a member of the Dark Council wears to show his political aspirations (Unless he's overthrowing Boss Nass from Oto Gunga). I know that gear options are kind of limited to the roles in this game, but some of the tier sets look horrible. Also, please reduce or eliminate the cost of removing mods from gear.

8. More Huttball Maps: Plllleeeeeeaaaasssse! Huttball is a lot of fun. This would be great! New maps with different types of traps would keep it fresh, and it's another warzone without having to create new objectives, just a new map.

9. Max Affection, Then What?: I saw someone post this before and wanted to repeat it. There is nothing after reaching max affection. Sure you get a Legacy perk, but one would think that your minions would play more of a role in your world once you've maxxed them out.

10. Planetary Commendations: Can we cash in lower comms for higher ones or something?

11. Story Updates: With Content Updates, class story missions would be a nice break. For example, next patch, my Juggernaut gets a mission to enforce the Emperor's will somewhere, like killing a Republic Senator or Jedi Master or something. Someone mentioned this, but bounty boards for Bounty Hunters, etc... Something that will continue the feel of that the story spend 50 levels building.

12. Please make Light/Dark decisions actually mean something, along with other decisions made in the game. Example: Dark V reduces accuracy by 1% for all enemies in a 10m radius, Light V raises crit by 1% for all allies in 10m. Just examples here...

13. Buffs and Debuffs are extremely difficult to see. As a healer on my sorc, it's difficult to see when there are debuffs to remove on myself or party members.

Before ending, I want to thank everyone on this thread for being constructive, and completely unlike most thread on this forum. I also want to say that BW has put together a great game that just needs a little attention, and I think this thread is indicative that we all enjoy it and want it to succeed. Please, BW, take this thread to heart and listen to your fans.

Alot of great ideas on pages 1 through 3. Didnt read the rest, im sleepy. Heres a couple of things that I would like to see. In a nut shell I am tired of having to use 3rd party programs for things. Take ownership of this.

1) Voice Chat

Put an in game voice chat feature. Not the crappy one wow did, but a good one. I know the server space may be an issue, but here are a few reasons why I think it has value.

1a) It adds another avenue for socializing while doing things. I know some people find it weird, but every other time I play games with strangers I talk to them (i.e. pool, poker, blackjack, etc)

1b) Removes the frustration of having to type explain how to use mumble.

1c) The most important reason for it is that doing this allows avenues for you to moderate abuse. You could implement some of the suggestion extra credits had, ban, etc. Verbal abuse occurs in raids/pvp and its never pretty. The most important aspect of an mmo is people interaction, if its negative, then so is the game experiance.

1d) If its a financial issue you could rent out servers and charge 50 cents a month to cover it at retail prices.

2) Combat Parser

I really hate having to download different programns to use with different groups. It frustrates me. Why can't we simply just have it built in? People could still choose to opt in/out of sharing. I know that there will be increased social pressure to share it, but its already mandatory if you wish to run end game ops.

3) Future 3rd party features.

I know that you have asked for input for features. I like the idea of them, and heres a suggestion on how to keep them in house property and allow for the free labor of strangers. Allow people to make them but not directly use them. They get to be tested out in internal servers (to see if its a functionality you want/ dont want). If it is somethign you would like to add in or dont care if its in or not then it can hit the pts and players can test em out. Then you pay the developers of ones that make it into the game. Or force players to pay a buck for them and split the cost with the developer. win/win

In summery - add voice chat and combat logs(and the above paragraph). I shouldn't have to use 3rd party software to functionally play the game as intended. And if you want to do end game content you have to, its not a choice. All software that I use while playing this game should be a part of it.

Make good on your promise to: "With the inclusion of Adaptive Gear in Game Update 1.3: Allies, you and your friends will be able to wear any social item in the game, and add augments to let you use it in the most perilous battles."

By allowing us to transfer ALL set bonuses, regardless of level, to Orange and Adaptive Quality Gear.

Or just give us an appearance tab.

Would love a ready check option.

Something where the raid leader can enter /readycheck and have everyone in the group either click yes or no. It beats having everyone jumping up and down!

Would greatly appreciate an in game vent.

Having to download several third party programs and learn their various idiosyncratic workings gets annoying quickly. A localized, in game vent would be awesome.

A way to make companions move out of AOE.

Can't think of how many times I've lost a companion on a boss fight cos he didn't run out of the AOE circle. Maybe add a way to command them to move forward, right, back and left.

Hats that don't cover my ears.

Pretty much sums it up, would be nice to see a hat that doesn't make my character look silly. Think of how silly the Man With No Name would have been if his ears and hair were always hidden under a neck strap.

Okay, here's a papercut that I've had for a while and have just recently thought of.

My Inquisitor is a healer. Exclusively. I leveled as Corruption and my guild and I have an agreement that they don't ask me to DPS. It's just a personal preference.

That said, I use Ops frames exlusively. For Ops and grouping. I have my UI set up so I can quickly target my companion for heals with a hotkey. However, when grouping with others for such things as Torvix or just doing dailies and we're using companions, I have no way to be able to quickly target companions. Yes, I know there are hotkeys for them, but I am not familiar with them, and they are probably key combos that I wouldn't use anyway. I could set up my own keybinds for them, but that's a pain and then I'd have to remember yet another set of keybinds.

A workaround is to Focus Target (Alt-F) someone's companion. But every time we get on a speeder, go through an elevator, change phases, I lose my focus target (which is really really annoying).

Yes, I could use Party Frames that displays companions, but I don't like the Party Frames and they don't fit on the right side of my monitor as nicely as Ops frames. What I want is for companions to be able to be displayed in the Ops frames, so I can do my job and heal them when I'm with someone and they're out.

If these have been mentioned before, I apologise. Count it as a +1 in agreement to the original poster.

Easy way to swap between PVP and PVE gear

This is the single most commonly performed monotonous task I do. Having to click through every piece of gear and then check it has switched out properly - not to mention individually placing in the 2nd relic and implant is just annoying as sin.

Solution? I don't mind what Bioware chooses to do as long as it is single click PVE->PVP and back again.

Add a Ready Check system for content

Useful for operations and flashpoints

Much larger debuff/buff icons - mainly in party/op frames

For a healer this is essential. As it is it is very difficult to see this important information to know when to cleanse a party member.

Be able to view crafting skills of guild members in the guild panel

In the member list it would be really useful to see which character has what crafting skill. Use icons?

ok, lets try it to make it as short and fact filled as possible ;)

  • Chat Bubbles
  • Space Combat has to be improved/changed significantly -> http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=303997
  • Random Daily / Weekly World Events e.g. Protect a City, Find a dealer that sells pecial Mats and travels from planet to planet (PVP)
  • PVP Alderaan has to be changed, its just no fun that a team as actually won the moment the other teams has less then half the points left
  • Inventory- there should be a Gear slot for PVE/PVP/etc. to just click&change the whole outfit.
  • PVE - More life/npc on planets. there are no cities just some ruins here and there.
  • Consumable Gear is very necessary to keep the economy going
  • Space Ship travelling and their loading has to be changed
  • unified/compareable rating system for gear and augments
  • Housing / Farming / Crafting will give this game a great depth
  • Community - More Feedback on plans.Work with us as promised.

A few papercuts:

-Vanish/Force Cloak sometimes doesn't fully pull you out of combat. Some enemies will continue to attack you, or even follow you when stealthed even in the absence of any DoTs. Companions have a knack to do this to other players as well.

-The "jumping to light speed to another planet" occasionally doesn't work, leaving the space outside your ship looking exactly the same while the sound plays.

-There is nothing to do with my companions after I've finished all their conversations! They don't even participate in conversations anymore. Adding lines for them in future content/world events would help them feel more like an actual companion.

-The Codex isn't legacy linked. It'd be nice to have each character updating to a unified Codex. Maybe markers could apply to different entries from different legacy characters.

-The VIP area of the fleet isn't very useful or special. The only reason for non-CE to pay a 1 million entry fee is to buy an even more expensive 2.5 million speeder that they probably don't even like. Maybe put shuttles to popular travel points up there, or GTM terminals, or something to give the area more of an alure. A dueling area, perhaps ;)

-The fleet could use a dueling area.

-Capital worlds are useless after you level past them! I wish they played more of a role in level 50 life.

-Captain Denneck (sp) in the very opening space of the Republic's Explosive Conflict Operations never shuts up. A slight movement can trigger his line over and over and over. Once is fine.

Thank you to the OP for this, I absolutely love the idea and tone of this post and was thrilled to see it take off. I'm sure many of the ideas below have already been posted, but I wanted to give it a whirl. I know I'll think of a dozen more things after posting this, but I'm sure someone else will cover them.

Companions

I really like having a companion to help me out, especially when I'm playing solo. That being said, there are a few quirks that I think could make them even better.

1. Keep an eye on the "callable" bug. Every few patches, the old bug resurfaces where when you get off of a speeder/taxi, your companion is gone. I think it is mostly working now, but I've found in a group of 3 players, whomever is using their companion still has this problem. Please make sure this gets added to whatever regression testing gets done for each patch.

2. Having a companion sell items when you are in the field is a wonderful way to keep your inventory clean. I'd love to be able to select items other than gray ones for them to sell. Perhaps give us a "no sell" marker we can put on items we want to make sure to keep. If you try to sell them, you'd get a warning message first.

3. It does get a little creepy how companions obsess about staring at you all the time. Some of the contortions I've seen their spines do to allow them to look at me would make a chiropractor cringe.

4. More companion stories and missions would be wonderful. I loved helping my companions and doing missions to help them. The romance ones were enjoyable too, but after 2-3 sweet notes from Elara Dorne, it's like the whole romance thing doesn't exist any more. No, I'm not some teenage boy asking for some X-rated stuff, but those follow-up e-mails or perhaps more missions would give a sense of continuity.

Playable races

So far the race choices have been pretty much human-variants with different colored skin and maybe some horns or head-tails added. I'd like to see something a bit more alien, like Wookiees (yes, I'm very biased on this one!) or Rodians. One of the big arguments against this so far has been the voice aspect. Using the Wookiee example, it has been said that hearing the player's dialogue with a bunch of hoots and growls would get tiresome.

I've suggested this many times, but I think you could get around this by doing something like giving alien characters a little translator droid (think necklace sized) that may or may not show on their avatar. Then you would need only two voice actors to record male and female dialogue. Granted, you'd have to record for all the classes, but the point is that there are creative ways you could get around the voice restriction.

The end result is a game that feels more like Star Wars and creates the immersion that makes people want to continue playing.

Character customization

I feel rather limited during character creation because of the lack of choices. To limit the discussion, think about the body type choices. When you boil it down, you have to choose if you want to be scrawny guy, average guy, muscle-head guy, or chunky guy. The result is that there isn't a lot of variation in characters. How about some sliders where you can tweak the height, weight, etc.? Maybe you want a tall character that doesn't look like he lives in a gym. You can look to many other MMOs for examples of this (such as Star Trek Online). It would also be nice to change your look after you've created your character. What if you want a haircut?

This also applies to gear, gear colors, and other items. You think you've created a wonderful look, only to see a dozen other people who look identical. Why can't I change the armor I love to have a different color?

Instances and populations

This one has bugged me since beta. Often times, it seems there are too many people competing for the same objectives. This brings on behavior such as ninja looting and the general attitude that, "I'm more important than you, so I don't care if you were here first, get out of my way!" I realize that there is technically no rule being broken, but a little courtesy goes a long way.

That being said, I think a review of server/instance populations is in order. My server was a medium population server prior to the merges, but it is packed now. Flying around in circles waiting for objectives to respawn is not fun. Camping objectives is not fun. Having to rush through missions to make sure you get the objectives before someone else (but not doing the ninja thing) is not fun. To me, this is most prevalent during the daily missions such as the Black Hole. Let's face it, dailies are repetitive by nature, but when it takes you twice as long to complete them as it used to, they become downright frustrating. Frustration = not wanting to play the game.

If we could have more instances with fewer people in them, I think that would help matters greatly. Ninjas will be ninjas regardless of population, but with fewer people there is a smaller chance of them affecting anyone. Making "smart" objectives could also help, such as making each clickable item work for everyone. So I could click on a crate, which then becomes inactive to me at that point, but it is still active for people outside of my group.

Better still, I'd like to see more instanced missions, even to the point of reworking some of the existing dailies. It doesn't stop you from playing in a group and you can take your time without constantly looking over your shoulder for loot ninjas. You can chat with your teammates and actually enjoy the mission. Enjoyment = wanting to play the game.

Ship droid

For the love of the Force, please shut this guy up! He talks slightly less than he used to, but I find one finger hovering over the sound mute button on my keyboard every time I run past him. Even C3PO had an off switch.

Galactic Trade Network

This could fill up an entire thread (and probably has), but it always seems like a struggle to search for something. The categories need tweaking, and numerous other changes which have been outlined elsewhere. As a seller, it would be nice to be able to drag/drop and item there and see a listing of that item. That would give a quick idea of the supply already out there and the prices being charged.

Along those lines, it would be nice to see a base value of an item at any time, even in the field (think, "here's the price a vendor would give to buy/sell that item"). It gives a better idea if something is overpriced or not.

Bound items

I've seen some improvement in this, but why not make bound items bound to a legacy instead of a character? I know there is some farming potential here, but it would be restricted to an account, and not turn into some credit-farming thing. There are countless times where I've looted something that would be great for another character, but then discovered it was bind on pickup.

Names

Friends lists and ignore lists would be so much cleaner if we could just use a global name to identify someone (see how Cryptic does this with Star Trek Online). You'd want to change friends lists at that point to make sure both parties agree before adding each other.

You could then extend this to allow full character names (first and last names!) that are unique to an account. This would free up so many more possibilities and prevent many of the "oh crap" moments where you find out the perfect name you thought up for your new character has already been taken. People wouldn't have to resort to using apostrophes, foreign characters, or extra letters to get close to the name they want.

Cross-faction chat/friends

This one is pretty self-explanatory, and could partially be addressed by the Names suggestion above. I understand and agree that you shouldn't have cross-faction guilds, but I don't see why you can't create a custom chat channel that can be used to chat with friends who may be playing on the opposite faction at the moment. As it stands, you can't even tell if they are online, much less send them a message.

Guild bank

99.9% of the time I open the guild bank I'm going to be involving my character's inventory in some fashion. I'd love to see my inventory window open up by default just like it does when I click on my personal bank.

Bank space

Anyone who does a good amount of crafting has at least one cargo bay full of resources. This chews up room fast and you end up with a chronically near-full bank. I'd love to see more bank slots available, along with increasing the stackable item count far beyond 99. Just the stackable item increase alone would free up a ton of bank space.

Total credits list

Any interaction window that can involve credits should show your current total. The generic vendor windows are fine, but there are others (I'm not in-game at the moment, so I don't recall the specific ones) where it would be nice to see how much money I have before doing anything.

Item comparison

When it works, it is wonderful. When it doesn't, it's frustrating to have to manually toggle between two items to see their respective stats. This plagues companions quite a bit.

Currency

The number of currencies and commendations gets a bit overwhelming. I'd suggest condensing this into more generic categories such as "planetary commendations," "warzone commendations," etc.. You'd obviously have to scale how many you get on various planets and levels, but it would make currency much easier to manage and avoid all those leftover commendations from lower planets.

Codex

This thing needs so much love it should be drowning in hugs. I love reading about the history of the time line, points of interest, etc. and do enjoy the challenge of getting them all, even if I'm just following some online guide. It provides so much context and immersion, but the amount of bugs and missing entries reflects poorly on the game. It gives it a rushed, neglected, and unfinished feeling.

Taxis

I used to trust the green arrows on the taxi map to point me to a mission location, but realized that it's not quite accurate, so I'm always double-checking. The map indicators are a great way of knowing where you need to go and fixing this quirk would be a great help.

There are also some places where the taxi pathing gets funky, such as the Belsavis taxi (Republic side) from the shuttle-down point to the Wilderness Outpost. There's one spot along the way there the speeder flips around and comes to a near stop. I just pretend I shifted gears wrong, but it's one of those little paper cuts that is the topic of this whole thread.

Mailing lists

I'm just going to say, "Guild mailing list," as it explains itself.

Along with that, it would be nice to be able to mail the multiple recipients at the same time. Sometimes there is information that I want to pass on to a friend, and I need to send the same mail to a few different characters, since I don't know which one they will use the next time they log into the game. The global name mentioned about would simplify this, too.

Social areas

I generally try avoid comparing this game to Star Wars Galaxies (SWG), but I think it is applicable to do in this case. One of the wonderful things about SWG was that it encouraged social activities. They had an entire class dedicated to entertaining, and cantinas actually served a purpose. Later in the game, they added vendors where you could use placeable items in the world to set up stories or events. I remember a wonderful time on a fishing trip, complete with a camp site, and a series of picnics as I toured Kashyyyk.

I'm not suggesting adding an entertainer class (though I would play it in a heartbeat!), but rather, the idea behind it. The kind of activities I described created a sense of community, a reason to get together that didn't revolve around grinding commendations, getting gear, or any of the other common MMO tasks. It provided a way to meet people and just relax for a bit and build the community. Whether SWTOR does these exact things or not, I really think something around community building in the game would be a huge benefit. Give people a reason to log in even when they don't feel like killing 100 (insert mob-of-the-planet).

As a starting point, look at the cantinas. They are already in the game and provide the perfect place to start. Throw in some pazaak tables, add a reason to go dance (maybe more dance emotes to help), put in some other things that can only be found in the cantinas.

Back with more,

Ashshara's lightsabers drive me crazy, they dont sheath properly.

Fleet shard size doesnt need to be the same as planets. Kills performance and it starts to feel cluasterphobic.

An in game raid recuitment. I run an unguilded operations group that meets regularly. You dont need a guild to be serious progressiojn, you only need regularity and consistency. A guild is about community. It would be nice to post my times and requirements in a searchable way for people to find the group thats right for them. Not guild hop until they find something.

Camera distance.

The camera distance from my character keeps changing on it's own(after dismounting a taxi for instance, but not limited to that). I have to constantly manually move it away from my character to get a better view. I have set the 'max camera distance' slider to the distance that suits me so i just have to pull the camera away as far as it goes to get the perfect position, nonetheless repeating this over and over gets old fast.

A checkbox 'lock camera at current distance and never move the damn thing ever again' would be extremelly nice.

Throw in some pazaak tables, add a reason to go dance (maybe more dance emotes to help), put in some other things that can only be found in the cantinas.

i think this is great. and was great in SWG. hanging around in the cantina getting buffs from dancing. offering other people buffs through playing music.

also the camping stuff.... this is absolutely community-building and a lot of fun just "beeing there".

I'd have to say that my biggest paper cuts would be:

1. Hood clipping on my Sith Sorcerer. The beauty of my blue robes are marred whenever my Sorcerer's inexplicably bald head pops out.

2. Being told to leave the safe area in a war zone match before it'll let me out. This is particularly frustrating in the more intense matches.

One of the major problems surrounding the community relations staff supporting this game is that they seem to be offended, but more importantly, downright dismissive, if players get visibly upset and voice grievances in, what some may say, is an inappropriate manner.

Dismissing an opinion because it is communicated in a way that offends the reader is indicative of a larger cultural problem at Bioware. While I personally don't see the need to post expletive riddled tirades on the forums, I also have no intention of always being "supportive" of the efforts of the staff, especially considering some of the problems we face (can the servers be laggier?).

They're getting paid to do a job, which should be reward enough for taking care of players concerns. Expecting love and sunshine from the players in the face of mounting problems of epic proportion has got to be one of the more insane things I've seen in a while. What difference does it really make if someone gets upset? Fix their problem so that they'll stop complaining. If you keep getting their $15 a month count it as a win.

Saying someone is getting paid to do a job does NOT mean they HAVE to suffer rudeness, profanity, hysteria or any other things that would not be tolerated in a non-cyber world. Try some of those tactics on operators, flight attendants, serving staff, cashiers, concierges, programmers, or other customer service agents and not only will your opinion be dismissed, but so might YOU - right out of the building, guided by the friendly hands of the Security Staff.

Sorry to continue the derail of this juicy and encouraging thread, but no poster should ever be encouraged to be rude or dismissive or vulgar or insulting to Bioware or any other poster on the forums. If someone cannot present themselves intelligently and politely, they either should take a few breaths before posting so as to calm down, or they should be removed from the forums by security until they can learn to behave... or perhaps forever if their outrage at being right dismissed make civility no longer possible.

Thought of one other thing (well, several others, but figured I'd stick to one).

The lack of a mentoring/sidekicking system makes playing with people rather difficult. You have to start characters at exactly the same time and be very careful that you don't outlevel each other. I would love to be able to use my high character and help out a starting level player. By all means, temporarily lower my level and skills accordingly, but just let me play with them!

I look forward to seeing new friends join the game, but it means I have to create a new character to even play with them. And that leads into having more character slots available, but I said this was just one other thing, so someone else can expand on that. :)

Some things I would like added even though I am pretty sure it has already been mentioned:

1. Opening up the color palette or adding color kits to recolor our gear. I HATE not having black gear available to the Pub side. Would also like to make all armor looks available to everybody, regardless of whether you are Republic or Empire.

2. Being able to separate schematics in the crafting screen by level. It is a pain to have to click every schematic and do a mouse over to see if that is the correct schematic for the level you want if you don't memorize what each and every schematic is.

3. Getting rid of the costs to remove mods out of your gear. This has got to be the most ridiculous concept of a money sink I have ever seen in an MMO. I crafted, bought or earned said piece of gear, but have to pay extortionist prices to do what I want with it. Also reducing, or better yet, removing the price of adding augment kits to our gear. They are a pain in the rear to get and are not cheap. Then have to pay even more just to add them to our gear? Out of everything in this game, those two things would be my number one pet peeve that needs to be fixed ASAP.
