Blame the lawyers. It's virtually impossible to do an international sweepstakes or prize drawing without spending a fortune because you basically have to hire lawyers in every country to research what is and isn't legal, then have more lawyers try to draft a set of rules that fit all of those laws. So you either spend way more on legal fees than you do on prizes and take a ton of extra time to set things up, or you just say to heck with it and limit participation to one or two countries. Nobody wants to spend more on lawyers than they do on the actual prizes they are giving away, so guess which option everyone takes? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Darka Posted May 15, 2012 Share Posted May 15, 2012 International law is always brought up, it would be no real difference to working the laws between the different states Plus many of the countries excluded run world wide competitions Bioware caters to three distinct zones ( going by server locations) NA EU Ocenia Id say it would only be fair to have region specific competitions, Bioware have always talked about Quality of Service. Whoever was holding the statue had reasons to not want to ship it overseas. Anyway, have they even made contact with the winners yet? Could it still be you?
