Ive gone from crying out in a creepy voice during Beta "Only now do you understand the full power of the dark side!"

to rocking back and forth crying to be let into early access :(

I pre ordered then didnt register until 2 months later because I never knew it was important for early access :(

"Good work getting this far, future-starter! That said, if you are simple-minded, old, or irradiated in such a way that the future should not start with you, please return to your primitive tribe and send back someone better-qualified for testing."

Why am I being asked to register my game code again? I did it months ago and my early access registration is still there, but on the main account page it says I need to redeem a product registration code. When I try to do that, it says it's already been used. Well yeah, months ago, and should be checked off.

That, I'm pretty sure, refers to the game code that comes with the game when you actually buy it, not the pre-order code.

Just posting to say that I am also cancelling my pre-order. What little faith I had left in Bioware/EA was destroyed today. Today was the first time I heard about 'waves' for early access - this really should of been stated when I handed over my money for the pre-order. I pre-ordered to get a head start on the masses of idiots that populate launch days - and thats my perogative as a paying customer.

Add this to the fact that the servers arn't actually ready for launch and they're using the early access as another stress test, and I think I'll leave it six months and see what state the game is in then. I was willing to forgive its shortcomings until today, and I've figured out that I'm just not that desperate to play it.

Back to Skyrim for now.

hahahahahahaha at this guy... WAHHHHHHHHH i shall cancel my pre order because i didnt get in on day one of bonus days! WAHHHHHHHHH MY LIFE SUCKS.

This isn't a troll, and isn't exactly QQ although there is some of that involved.

I just want to put it down for the record that the way this early access program has been implemented is truly one of the most poorly conceived ideas that I've ever personally encountered in over 25 years of playing video games. I've personally participated in launches of 6 other MMO games, and there is nothing in those experiences that compares to how ridiculous this process is.

When you are dealing with a pre-launch even that is only for pre-order customers, after an extensive and massive beta testing period that was a huge success according to nearly all sources involved - it begs the huge question as to what is the limiting factor in the way you have chosen to roll out this game. I personally participated in the beta in a very limited way (not by choice, mind you, I just wasn't lucky enough to get a key) and was only online during the big Thanksgiving weekend test. That test was wonderful - there were a huge number of servers, and a huge population of testers. The game performance was amazing.

So, EA/BW - what exactly are you afraid of?

The ONLY way this should have been done is to have given ALL pre-orders (perhaps separated only by level of game purchased - i.e. CE customers get 7 days, SE get 5, e.g.) access at exactly the same time. Of course it will overload the servers and queues would ensue and all that - but that's what we all expect. Making your customers wait unknowingly with no idea how long it will be or when to expect an email is just adding insult to injury. A poor alternative would have been to send out emails with a set time and day that your access would be available.

I read in the top post how you are monitoring the server performance and are rolling waves based on server performance. Are you seriously saying you have to wonder at this point if your servers can perform up to the task - when you probably still have 90% of the launch day players yet to even be able to play? That is not at all a good message to be sending at the beginning of an MMO franchise.

At any rate, I love this game. I love BW. But I truly despise and am sickened by the way you chose to put your customers through so much stress for absolutely no good or justifiable reason.

I truly hope you improve, because this is a very very poor way to start out.

Now I'm CERTAINLY not promoting this and I really hope this never happens and it would be tragic so please no one be stupid...

BUT what if someone kills themselves or their cat or hurts someone else because they did not get day one access?

hopefully they didnt cancel their credit card so bioware can continue to take their monthly payment while their hanging from their bedroom roof. honestly no one will care....

As someone who has preordered for early access I have to admit given the game and circumstances I completely understand. Remember beta when you had to wait in cue for like 30 min? At early access/launch whatever I can immagine the que times being staggeringly high. No one really wants or needs that would and could ruin alot of peoples day.

You can't please everyone so might as well try to cater to the most in a reasonable way and due to the sheer popularity of the game I believe they made the right move.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't get my email and I do really want to play but you have to try to understand their perspective.

Keep up the good work guys.

"Update: Wave 3 was just sent.

Update: Wave 4 was sent approximately noon CST. (Apologies for delay.)

Update: Wave 5 - the final wave for today - was sent at approx 1:30PM CST.

More invites will be sent tomorrow (Wednesday)."

great way to Scam your Customers GG!!!!

How is this a scam?? They mentioned for a while now that this was going to happen. Also, the early access was UP TO 5 days. Not EXACTLY 5 days, but UP TO!

Are people really THAT stupid??

Okay ill just comment, the 10% of the people actually viewing this page might read it.

The staggered invites are to ensure lag/crash free and enjoyable game play. Keep in mind there is two starter zones and those two becomes 1 server from level 8-15+

anyone who played a mmo launch or perhaps wow-cataclysm knows that some areas and zones where like total mayhem the first days and completely ruined everthying for anyone.

the server dont need to be "full" for the starter zones to be utterly and completely full with even "light" load..

well gl all, I preordered the 29th and is still waiting for that last wave announced on twitter :o)

LOVE (plz forward, think we all need it, this thread is kinda bloody)

You realize that all of those areas are instanced, right, so that not everyone is in the same zone? Server population issues should have been detected and mostly handled during the open beta. Activating accounts is probably as easy as set some database field (account_subscription_enabled = 'true', or perhaps a row in a database with the subscription information and date; if current_time < subscription_end_date).

I think they're just giving the earliest subscribers the benefit of getting in first as well as running metrics (for fun, I guess -- I thought the stress test weekend was for this information).

Because there is only one time zone, right?

There are lots of timezones, but... if you had read his update, you would have seen that he said the final wave was 1:30 CENTRAL STANDARD TIME... which is just after lunch.
