Zombull
Had my speeder half way through Taris. I had no problem with Nar Shaddaa. Loved the visual design of the place.
Varteras
Let me just say this OP. Once you get on Hoth you will wish you were back on Nar Shaddaa. Assuming you haven't been there already. I will take a corridor-world over a barren snowscape with a boring storyline any day. Tatooine had more personality than Hoth.
bbbmmmlll
I understand that. But it really feels like corridors. If they were more like Dues Ex: HR and how it has its cities then that wouldn't be so bad. But right now they feel like I'm in a bunch of packed warehouses. I was thinking the exact same thing. I haven't really been blow away with any of the areas yet.
Abomin
The creators of the Fifth Element would like a word with you.. lol when I first arrived there, I had that same feeling as I was watching the buildings and the lights.
Faztastic
I actually enjoyed Nar Shaddaa, all the different color lights and stuff looked really sweet. I just wish there was casinos we could gamble on and more NPC's, ships flying around etc, it looks completely dead. This game needs more mini-games, hopefully some day we may see some. Now that I like! Nar Shadaa would definitely benefit from more flavourful interaction
TheToony
I'll take a high tech city world over a generic forest/jungle world I can see in any game ever. If I wanted to run through a forest killing large animals, I'd play WoW.

TheToony
Which is what Balmorra and Alderande are, basically. I hated Balmorra and didn't like Taris much either. Dromund Kaas was also terrible. My favorite planets I've played are Coruscant, Narshaddaa, and Hutta.
Gankdalf_
Levels I have played Start zone - Horrible, mountains forcing me down a linear path Coruscant - Horrible, Corridoors forcing me down a linear path Taris - Horrible, debris forcing me down a linear path Nar Shaddaa - Abomination, corridors forcing me down a linear path Tatooine - mildly better, invisible walls forcing me down a linear path Alderaan - Much better, I enjoyed that level. Quesh - utterly horrible, Mountains, high walls forcing me down a linear path. Yeah let me guess, the next planet has something forcing me down a linear path EDIT: Missed a few out but they were linear too Edited January 8, 2012 by Gankdalf_
Feelinestars
These are the types of reasons that this game doesn't have "legs," so to speak. Leveling up even a second character is not something anyone is looking forward to due to dumb leveling design choices such as the one the OP mentioned. SaltAU
Yeah really feels like a city on a planet doesn't it! Feels more like a linear corridored boring go to this quest area to do the quests to unlock the next area of the same boring garbage. Seriously whoever is responsible for the 'basic overall game design' of this 'MMO' should retire from the industry and do something else. No amount of bug fixes, polish or extra content can fix the fundamental gameplay design choice mistakes they have made in this game. Incredibly disappointed by BioWare after releasing this horrible game.

SaltAU
Let me guess - you spacebar through quest dialogue? No I don't actually, the quest dialougue is the only positive feature in the game. Why on earth would I do that? At the end of the day though once you've finished with the dialogue you have to play the rest of the game, pity it wasn't just permanent dialogue. Try again Fanboy. Andryah
As much as I am enjoying this game, Nar Shaddaa nearly broke my spirit, it has probably the worst level design in any MMO I have played. The quests are in all four corners of the main map, and when you travel to each corner, the mission objectives are invariably at the end of the section with long, winding claustrophobic corridors in between, and mostly unavoidable trash. To make it worse, you usually visit the zone before getting your Speeder, so must travel around on foot, and there is usually nothing to do on the way to your objective except kill random mobs. It's a bit tragic, because the planet itself is quite beautifully rendered, if a little bit too dark. I just ran my fourth character through Nar Shaddaa. I like it a lot. Better then Taris which is a maze of wreckage to try to move around and bypass everywhere. You've got taxi service to every point you need to go to, and there is less running on foot then in Taris, so I really don't see what you are so upset about. And if you gather at all, there is tons to gather on your way from point A to point B. I make a truck load of credits everytime I run a character through this planet. I've yet to see a clausterphobic element in this game. It's funny because most people say everything is too massive LOL. PeacefulViolence
I loved Nar Shaddaa, it's a nice change from the standard open world planets, the urban feel is something we don't get enough of in any game nowadays not just MMO's.
hattertea
I find it amusing that people get this bug in their butt about going off the beaten path, like you want to run off some random direction to get to point B instead of going in a fairly straight line to it.... Personally like the variety all the planets have to offer. Though everybody has their tastes, just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone else doesn't. Don't throw down blanket complains that suggests Bioware should change the game just because you don't like the layout.

I'm hoping at the very least, Bioware puts more minor missions in each section so you have more to do than run and gun from one end of the corridor to the other. Quest objectives at the end of the map, having to run and kill on the way. You're right, I've never before heard of such a thing and there can be no question that this makes it the worst zone in the history of gaming. Incusprimordial
Personally, Nar Shadaa Aesthetic Wise has been my favourite planet. Admittedly, the four corners questing aspect got a bit long in the tooth after the third corner (Same with Coruscant) But it does fit the lore of the planets, so i can forgive them for it. Taris. Eurgh. While its awesome to revisit that planet, i cant stand rakghouls after KOTOR, and this just cemented my hatred. Started the bonus series, got to Force Using Rakghouls. Screw that, Abandon the planet. Never return till my next character. Tatooine. I Am So glad i got a speeder before i came here. LOVED IT so much. Suddenly i was in star wars. Yea coruscant and taris and all that is well and good, but tatooine is such a landmark, and it feels like tatooine. The dune sea is Superb for immersion. I Miss Krayt Dragons though. Also, seeing as ive seen it mentioned a couple times. casinos/Multiplayer Minigames would bring so much life to these planets. Not only is Nar Shaddaa gorgeous to look at, but I find it to be one of the fastest leveling experiences in the game. And if you find it "dark" maybe you need to set your gamma higher. SlickDevlan
Places like Coruscant and Nar Shadaa feel that way because they ARE giant maze like planets. You have to remember, these are societies who have explored the stars for THOUSANDS of years. Of course their home worlds are going to be filled with buildings and streets and such. The planet is one giant city. Did you expect fields and ponds? Exactly. Kind of tough to make it feel "open" when the whole planet is a giant city.
