Also have a point to killing other people. giving more valor is crap. I want something to fight for. Put in bases on this world so guilds fight for them and get perks and they have to defend it to keep those perks. I'm guessing its too late to put this in now so your going to loose a **** load of people because you don't know how to implement good pvp mechanics. It floors me how long you have been working on this game and this is what we get for pvpers. Might as well take out pvp altogether because right now its all ****.

 

There is gear in the game that you cannot equip if your valor is not high enough... sounds like a perk to me...

 

But I will agree with this part "Put in bases on this world so guilds fight for them and get perks and they have to defend it to keep those perks."

 

One of the MMOs I played recently was Faxion where you had to fight the opposing faction for control points in each zone at timed intervals, if you won the battle/control point the npcs reset and allowed your faction to have quests not available when no one, or the enemy faction controlled the point. This aspect of that game was really fun and made for good PVP hot spots..

Like what I see so far, but where are the changes to balance (think melee overhaul) that got announced for "some time closely after release" already. Not seeing something like that while they even talk about pvp related stuff does not serve to get my hopes up...

If I had to pick any one ability that seems overpowered in PvP I would have to say Overload/Force Wave. I have always thought that was kind of OP. An area knockback/knockdown that does damage and is on a relatively short cooldown? Oh and I've lost count of how many times in PvE that has caused NPCs to aggro a second group because they got knocked back into into them by an overzealous Inquisitor. I could see having an area knockdown with a smaller knockback.

 

that is lack of your Inquisitors knowledge of his power.. It is easily aimed and you can knock the mobs or other players any direction you want... you dont need to run into the center of them every time..

am i the only one to point out that the pvp combat is ****ed up ? what i mean by this is that it feels like ive got 400 ms when i play, when i infact only have 60 (quite high anyway). It could just be that the combat itself is that slow to react, an example would be me using "Snipe" on somebody it loads for, lets say 1.5 sec, but the bullet itself leaves the barrel after 2 seconds after i press the hotkey. this is getting really annoying when you try to lock someone in the fire on the hutball map, i shoot my "Leg shot" to immobilize him inside but he gets out before it even hits him.. and its an instant shot.

 

IF they are to fix anything with PvP, i think this is what they should aim for.

 

not only will the PvP be more fast paced it would also be ALOT less frustrating when you fail to knock someone off a bridge or similar that requires fast reflexes, it kind of kills the purpose of even having good reflexes based upon the situation you put yourself in to, as it wont matter because whatever key i press will have a delay anyway.

Huttball has been played the most BECAUSE IT COMES UP EVERY DAMN QUEUE. Why isn't it more balanced? No game is as frustrating when the team members levels aren't balanced as huttball

 

 

Get the ball, pass the ball, but dont kick the ball..... it tells you right off the bat how to win at that game.. ive seen a premade team get stomped when the pickup team works together and throws the ball, and hey when you dont have the ball get ahead of the person with the ball to give them a target, thats how you win that game. All your other abilities and gear are just perks to help you do it better. see your guy has the ball and hes coming up the ramp, flames are down .. go to other side of flames and wait for a pass...

Great stuff, PLEASE let Smart Camera disable be one of the optimization you are implementing.

 

Smart camera, that the reason behind my camera floating off into the sky on invisible geometry where i am not even on my screen anymore? That needs to get fixed too..

I hate the fact that we can't choose the warzone we want to play, they say that Huttball is the most played, but it's not really, just the warzone which has came up the most. I wish they would add a option to search with random, then able to choose either Voidstar, Huttball or The civil war and other warzones that may be to come.

2) spaming lightining like it was going out of fashion. 3) Republic is out numbered in this game in warzones and pretty much every where.

 

Dont you spam throwing your little pebbles?

And its not their fault people would rather play a Bad *$$ than the goody goody, i mean its PVP and PVP is evil in a sense... your pvp servers are going to attract the Imperials who seek to crush their foes underfoot... Maybe you should check out a PVE server? Maybe there are more reps on those for your war zones.. /shrug

it says in the OP "Additionally we’re looking at ways to enable team vs. team, more level brackets and the ability to choose which Warzone you want to play in." I cant wait for this as voidstar is my favorite and I see it maybe 1 in 5 WZs.

They really need to make the PVP resources MUCH MUCH MUCH more meaningfull and IMPACTFULL to the actual game, both PVE and PVP.

 

BW you need to follow DAoC model for PVP and world persistant conflict.

 

I WANT To login to the game and see people screeming get out to outpost xxx to defend RELIC or whatever it is.

 

In DAOC, if one realm owned all the relics, they got a 20% damage bonus, defence bonus and XP bonus. It was valuable enough for the other sides to continually have keep raids. In fact the model was if a single realm owed all the relics it was an even bigger bonus.

 

A lot of times one side would have one relic, and others another relic, it really ballanced itself out.

 

Make XP mobs have PVP XP bonus, in otherwords areas where its risky to pve but you get a bonus if you do.

 

Follow a model that was probably the best ever created and got more people involved in PVP. Ever since then no game has been able to get more people to actually care if they lose a keep or relic. Don't just make it a building or area that needs to be held, make capturable objectives ala capture the flag, so you can capture something then have to run it back via escort to your outpost/keep.

 

I have been dreaming for the day someone would finally replicate what Mythic did with its gold gem of a game DAoC, they fracked up bad with WAR, and all other titles since then.

 

However; I understand this probably will not ever happen, this game fundamentally is NOT designed around group bonus PVP. In other words, in DAoC you had CCer, Speed, Buffs, heals, and the rest could be DPS, you needed to have proper group makup, but if you did, you would own in PVP. I get excited just talking about that game again, damn I miss it.

Another thing to consider when discussing Faction imbalance is sure Imps out number Reps 2:1 , 5:1, 10;1 whatever, How many of those Imps are going to make a rep alt once they hit 50 or even sooner? I dont know about you but in past MMOs I always create a character of both factions, and have been known to fill my character creation screen give it a month or two I bet it will equalize itself out.

OPEN WORLD PVP SHOULD REWARD VALOR!!!!

 

 

This is ASTOUNDING that this is missing...

 

I cant even remember a game I have played where you are not rewarded for pvping in the open world...

 

 

(Why did I even join an open world pvp server if there is NO mechanic in place to reward it, seriously!?!?!?!!!?)

 

 

THIS IS A GLARINGLY OBVIOUS MISSING FEATURE SO I WILL SCREAM IN CAPS OUT OF FRUSTRATION, YES!!!!

 

 

FIX IT !@!!!!

This is game is being developed by the same folks at Mythic.

 

They will say many things, and do very few of them. And the bones they throw at us will make the game worse.

 

They will lie, mislead and talk endlessly about the "discussions" they are having about great things to come.

 

Anyone that played WAR and most of all DAoC, knows these things to be true.

I would like to say that we appreciate the effort and work placed into PvP and the guild i crossed over this game with from Lotro all love pvp and wouldnt go back to the old game for this one because we know that the bugs are gettin fixed and the focus is on new content and game machanics just dont forget about PvP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can you expect ToR to be top dog if it doesn't point-by-point matches WoW? You might as well roll over and go F2P now.

 

ToR needs:

 

1. Arenas, yes that means that class balance will need more passes and/or ranking should be class-spec dependent.

 

2. Rated BGs - don't bother. It didn't work in WoW, it won't work in ToR. Why? PvPers don't like logistics of having to form large groups and wait for more large groups to participate. Without cross-server matchmaking this will die to long queue times.

 

3. More BGs - 3 is just not nearly enough. Copy Arathi Basin and Warsong, don't bother with the rest. Also kill off Hutt, its simply not fun.

 

4. Vehicle PvP - it didn't exactly work well in WoW, but that was design, not functionality limitation.

 

Get to work, you have a lot to do to stay #1 past initial month.

Please make it so we can thumb down huttball and never, ever, have to do that map again for so long as i play this game..... it is truely horrible. thats all i ask.

 

Every game needs a clearly hated flop BG, if not for huttball (ugh ugh) you wouldn't appreciate how nice other BGs are.

 

I 100% agree, not only huttball is not fun, it is also failed concept. Reason this type of map works in FPS is because everyone has the same abilities (a gun to shoot), not so much in ToR.
