  1. Wired is always going to be better than wireless... that said, I do ALL my gaming over my wireless N and it is completely fine. My ping to the server (according to SWTOR) is always around 30 ms or less. As others have said, there are a ton of factors that go in to it but I have had zero problems.
  2. This has nothing to do with you, OP, but perhaps your situation... So far, every Sentinel I've grouped with in the game seems to be of the "omg lollerskatez ima git tha d00d!!!111" persuasion. That is to say... they seem to be about 12 years old (if that). I am 100% sure that there are decent Sentinels out there but I haven't really found them too often, unfortunately. Maybe it's just my server or something
  3. Along this same line, whenever I log in, I get an icon near Kira that says that she wants to speak with me on board my ship. When I go there, she has nothing to say. Is that just a bug or am I missing something?
  4. Yes. The game is fun to me. Needs some polish here and there but overall, I enjoy it.
  5. The main difference here is that Jedi don't get their healing companion when they face the Sand Demon That said, I beat him on the first try as well (level 28ish I think). His AOE is by far the worst of what he does, otherwise it was just get in there and mix it up (I'm a defense spec'd Guardian, for reference).
  6. Ok, first off, I don't see where people think that this is what is causing the game to be "bad." From a engineering point of view, voice overs isn't going to take a significantly long time to implement. Additionally, the people recording the voice overs aren't the ones who are writing the code in the game to implement said V/Os. The V/O piece of the engine was probably written within the first month or so, using placeholder sounds (that - knowing software engineers - were probably hilarious). So if you want to blame the game's shortcomings, blame something else - it likely wasn't this. On the flip side to what I said above, most of the features you guys are screaming for are significantly more complicated and would take FAR longer than a month to complete. ANY video game is essentially a contest between the developer and the computer to bend the other to their will. I'll let you in on a secret: PCs don't like playing games. An MMO is incredibly complex and adding something like UI configuration could (and likely would) have unintended consequences on another piece of the game. Or it could just as likely create a new horrible bug where your UI was gone and you couldn't get it back. Imagine the fury in the forums if that sort of a bug slipped through. I'm not disagreeing that some things need to be added to the game, but as it is, I'm having fun. And from my own experience of knowing how these things work, I know that it's not as simple as some developer sitting down and banging out a customizable UI in 10 minutes. For the record, I am a professional Software Engineer and have been for more than 12 years. Occasionally, we do like to go home to our families
  7. While I agree that if you are on a PvP server, you should expect this, one thing is puzzling me that nobody has touched on yet. Even on contested planets, aren't faction cities "safe?" Or at least somewhat safe? Last time I saw, faction cities had multiple level 50 MOBs with like 20,000 HP each guarding it. What I want to know is how this guy got into the city in the first place
  8. Jedi Knight: "This sounds like it is going to a dark place." "How do you plan to achieve this?" "Facing danger is what I do best." *shrug* it's sort of irritating but I can see why they did it. Not that big of a deal.
  9. Haven't read all of the posts in here but I did fully read the OP's post. OP, while I understand what you are saying, I have to disagree. First off, while we would both claim to be against censorship, you seem to be saying that instead of allow TOR to be as it is, it should "tone down" the Imperial side for the sake of the children. I would strongly disagree with this point (if I'm reading you correctly). Parents should filter what their children see, not society. As for the current rating of T, that really isn't up to Bioware, but rather the ESRB (in America). If you have a problem and believe that it should be rated higher, you could contact the ESRB and lodge a complaint. As for shocking Vette, I don't believe that has nothing to do with sex or sexual abuse. It's really just master/slave abuse. A female Sith can shock the hell out of Vette just as much as a male can and I don't think that there is any sexual tension there. You have the option of freeing her and then developing a real (as real as a video game can get) relationship with her. This brings me to another point: the Empire is evil. I think we can all agree that slavery is horrible and has no place in the world but - again - the Empire is evil. If you think about Sith, they are typically horrible, horrible people. Sure, people can always argue that they are just going about their business in a different way from Jedi but the truth is, they have always - and will always - be portrayed as a fascist, racist, sexist, horrible group of people. I've played Empire side and some of the choices I made that were Dark Side were pretty sickening, but they are SUPPOSED to be like that. It's why my main is a Light Side Jedi because that's the side I identify with the most. But if the Dark Side wasn't bad, the Light Side wouldn't have meaning. That said, it's still just a game and I wouldn't think for even a second that it would be advocating slavery, ****, etc.
  10. Can't say anything about the resource use, but mine has done this occasionally BEFORE the patch. I was chalking it up to the FPS issues that others were having. Mine isn't all the time though so the game is still playable.
  11. Restricts usage of gear as you said. Also, if you turn it on (it's on by default in the options) you get "Dark Side corruption" on your character's face which I think is pretty cool. I think that's it... someone please correct me if I missed something.
  12. I don't really have any advice for Sentinels but I will say this: The above is quoted for truth. I don't feel terribly squishy as a Guardian, but I do think something is broken when a Trooper can push one button and mortar away a group of five weak MOBs in 1 second while I have to leap in there and fight them for a few minutes before they die. Trooper = take no damage, me = take some damage and might need to heal after said fight.
  13. Sentence fragments! Just phrases! That about sums up how that article came across. Whoever wrote it needs to go back to high school and retake sophomore English class because... wow. It may have some good points, but if you can't write, you can't get them across, period. (Bonus points to the person who knows what my first line is from )
  14. So far I've only hear one NPC say "vay-por-aytors" instead of "va-per-aytors". I think it's local flavor. The one that REALLY bugged me was all the mispronunciations of this one guy's name:
  15. Hard to tell what people are underneath those hoods but from my grouping/social dialog experiences, everyone is either human or Mirialan and most often, it's Mirialan. I have never seen a Twi'lek Jedi and I think I've only seen a Zabrak once. Anecdotally, it seems like the population on my server is 0% Twi'lek, 1% Zabrak, 95% Mirialan, 4% human. *shrug* YMMV
  16. I'm 100% sure this thread will get locked for not being "on topic". So inb4lock! That said, There's a lot of rose colored glasses being used in this thread. Sandbox isn't my thing, but that said, SWG was a giant grind fest. I didn't particularly enjoy having to grind my way through a billion mobs just to learn how to fire a pistol. And yes, I managed to grind up to be a master marksman (or whatever it was called... pistol/carbine/rifle master) and it was pretty horrible, overall. There were some good things about SWG - I particularly liked the day/night cycle as well as the random weather effects. The planets were huge which made them feel like real planets. The downside to this was that the game launched without vehicles so it took like 2 hours to run from one city to another The current TOR crafting system needs a lot of work because right now, it's grindy and not very viable. SWG had crafting that was viable (but SUPER grindy). I would also love it if TOR could include the day/night cycles and weather because that was done REALLY well in SWG.
  17. If someone has been waiting there before you, let them go first or invite them to a group. They got there first, you should get in line. Just trying to tag the mob first in a mad rush to get credit is rude.
  18. Clothing color shouldn't be alignment based. Luke was light and wore black robes. Anakin was (somewhat) light and wore black before he turned. I just want some better customization for my Guardian than what we have.
  19. Yep, gone. The launcher seems hella buggy as is so I don't know if this is a bug or intended.
  20. I'm not out of Act 1 yet, but so far on my Knight, I feel like I'm just cleaning up after everyone's complete and utter incompetence. The main guy I get my storyline missions from is just a moron and most of the people I have to team up with deserve a lightsaber to the face more than they deserve my help. That said, I'm not totally against the story line and I am enjoying it but I do feel a bit like a babysitter rather than a Jedi Knight
  21. Seen #3 before this patch too. It's annoying but you can cancel out of the conversation state and try again later.
  22. If they added this, I would hope they would let you turn it off like they do the Dark Side option. But it should be a SEPARATE option because I like the Dark Side corruption (has precedent in lore) but I wouldn't want this for Light Side. Sorry, just not that interested since they didn't do anything like that in the canon. But like I said, if I could turn it off, that would be ok.
  23. Still in Act 1 of the Jedi Knight. I like the main thread that is going through it, but that said... it just feels like I'm surrounded by incompetence. I'll spoiler tag this next part so I can go into more detail: ANYWAY, despite all that above, the MAIN thread of the JK story is ok... I hope it picks up a bit more though because right now, I feel like The Wolf from Pulp Fiction... and it's not as cool as you might think Also, I STILL have issues with how the text for responses doesn't accurately match what is said/done. I agreed to something last night that I definitely didn't want to agree to simply because of how the text was presented *shrug*
  24. I approve this post I too, would love to have some black robes. Orange class preferably so I can mod them
