  1. I think the thread title is completely on point as every bullet point I mentioned in my post makes me feel like Bioware would rather I not do group content. When it's so impossible to do something as simple as group up, it makes me feel like we're not supposed to even attempt it.
  2. Since I've played through all the single content, I tend to enjoy doing ops and raids and stuff like that in the game. I wouldn't normally come to the forums with something like this but I don't know how else to be heard. It seems that Bioware is actively trying to dissuade us from playing group content. I know the game focuses a lot on single player but if you have group content, let us enjoy it. Here's the problems: Group Finder UI is... well it could use an overhaul. Show us number of people in the queue, give us some idea of when something might pop. The STO interface for this is better. Group finder penalties - while having good intentions - don't work right. Yesterday we had a full group for a HM FP and rather than walk into the instance, we queued to get there faster. Long story short, some of us made it into difference instances of the content (***?) and we had to leave and re-enter which caused us all to get a GF lockout. That makes no sense on multiple levels. If using GF, we aren't allowed to find a replacement if someone drops out unless we re-queue. This is ridiculous. I had several volunteers from my guild that I wanted to just invite but that wasn't allowed (yes I'm aware they can just queue but that isn't an acceptable workaround). Can't change a group into an ops group when on a guild flagship or stronghold. I have no idea why this should even be a thing. Lockouts in ops are ridiculous. I realize it's there to prevent people from farming but instead of preventing them from doing content, why not just make it so they don't get experience/loot if they run content that is "locked out"? The game can obviously tell when a group has made it past a lock out point so this should be super simple to implement rather than the current draconian "the group is not at your current point lol sucks to be you" message you get. A good example of this is with SnV when the group I was with made it past the first boss and fell apart at the second. I attempted to get another group (after disbanding and going outside of the instance) and then was unable to join my new group for the content until they beat the first boss. This is a weird way of penalizing a player for attempting to play group content. All of this seems like it would be fairly simple to fix (says the person not sitting in front of the code... I know ) and would GREATLY improve the quality of life of grouping for content.
  3. Lowbacca has been around for a (relatively) long time. The mandate to have no Jedi Wookiees came about BECAUSE of Lowbacca. Lowbacca was allowed because he already existed but he was the exception rather than the rule.
  4. I will say that it took me about 5 tries before I really pinpointed that strategy though. I didn't read any spoilers before the fight so I just learned in real time.
  5. Interrupt. Interrupt everything you can but specifically, you need to interrupt his Force Storm ability (I think that's what it is.... it's the one that takes you from 90% health to around 20% in 1 second). Been a while since I took on Angral but that's the gist.
  6. I enjoyed the Knight story. It has its dry parts but I feel like if Bioware had made KOTOR 3 rather than TOR, the Knight's story would have been what they used. So far, have an Inquisitor up to level 34, a Consular up to 20, and of course the Knight is 50. Consular is a bit dry so far. Inquisitor is good but since I'm going Dark Side on that, I really only play her when I'm in the mood to be a jerk
  7. I'm only level 31 as a Sorc but I'm finding Khem's tanking to be... lacking. He started out great but he's too squishy (and yes, he's geared appropriately). That said, he's better than anything else I have at this point in the game and he USUALLY can hold out long enough that by the time he drops, I can take out whatever is left myself.
  8. I still really enjoy playing this game but I've come to realize something: I hate MMOs and I hate the communities within them. I don't need to spend my leisure time playing a game where some 12 year old can call me crass names just because they feel unloved. There are some good people and some bad people but it seems like I run across more bad than good. This is my last MMO but only because of the genre, not because of the game. I love the game itself.
  9. I only space bar if it's a daily I've seen a lot before (I space barred a lot of the Rakghoul stuff after listening to it a few times) or if it's alien dialog. I understand why they added alien languages in there but at the same time, there's one set of lines for Huttese, one set for Rodian, etc. So even if they are completely made up languages, after the 10th time of hearing the same dialog lines, I have it memorized. So it's just really annoying and if the alien speaks gibberish, I just space bar through it after I read the text. Otherwise, no, I listen to ALL dialog. That's the whole point of the game, for me.
  10. Yep... 1.2 seemed to introduce a lot of problems for me as well. My frame rates have taken a nose dive since 1.2 and while I had ability delay pre-1.2 (and had it subsequently fixed by one of their patches) it's back with a vengeance since 1.2. I've never had ability delay that was so bad until now. Animation stuttering has also returned 10 fold which is quite annoying. Lag is worse but not terrible. My average ping before 1.2 was 50 - 75 ms and after has been more like 100 (again, average). Not terrible, but certainly worse. I would like to hear Bioware comment on this. I believe they can and will fix the problem, but I would just like to hear an official "We will look in to it, thanks!" response
  11. I hope they don't just leave the entire wreck there. I think some of it should be left but not the smoldering ruin we have now. Make it look like it was mostly cleaned up or even halfway buried by the sand drifts. I agree that it shouldn't just go away though.
  12. Again, you're wrong. I've seen it on Tatooine (high population, especially right now) and Illum (population: 3 on my server). Since I don't PvP much, I mostly notice it in PvE. Population has nothing to do with it and it has noticeably increased since patch 1.2.
  13. Not true. Patch 1.2 re-introduced ability delay and animation stuttering. I've been playing a Guardian since shortly after launch and it's MUCH worse since 1.2 hit. You can never land a Force sweep on the first key press. The animation has to stutter for at least 1 second before it will actually play. Additionally, I really love having to hit abilities several times in a row before they fire. This is a very real problem and not a "l2p" cop out.
  14. Corellia is way better for me than Tatooine. I've timed Tatooine at 4 minutes before. Then of course, it's a slide show for about 15 minutes after that. Yeesh. Finally settles down after 15 minutes but... what the hell is it doing during that time?
  15. This was fixed but there is a new exploit out that is just as bad. I'm not sure of the exact way to trigger it but last night, I was not flagged. I was fighting some Rakghouls when this ******e in PvP armor and flagged came up to me. He started HELPING me fight the MOBs. This somehow caused my PvP flag to be set. Of course, he then roflstomped me because I'm not going to grind for PvP armor, especially not when it looks like the dog **** that it does Non-PvP armor vs PvP armor = no chance. I don't even know why they HAVE PvP armor in the game but that's another thread I understand that flagging can be a difficult thing to code, but at the same time, it seems really easy for Bioware to fix: You should only be flagged for PvP in the following circumstances: 1) You manually flag yourself 2) You enter a warzone 3) You enter the Outlaw's Den or something similar (going into opposite faction's area, etc.) The countdown it does now is great. 4) If someone is flagged and joins your group, you should have the option to either flag yourself, or leave the group. I think groups should always all have the same flag status. If you choose to allow yourself to be flagged, the flag should be removed the INSTANT you leave the group. You can't leave the group during fights either. This should prevent exploiting the flag but also gives people a choice. 4a) The alternative to this is that you don't get flagged if someone who is flagged joins the group but you aren't allowed to engage in PvP NOR can you heal or buff this person. Not even for PvE. This would encourage groups to have the same flag without having a hard game mechanic around it. Under no other circumstances should you be flagged. NONE. If you try to buff someone who has the flag set, it shouldn't work (unless you are also flagged). You just shouldn't be allowed to do that. The skill should be grayed out. Same with any heal/buff spell. I enjoy the occasional PvP but I don't like people exploiting the game to set my flag when I choose not to.
  16. I can confirm this happening as well. I was fighting the ghouls that come out of the escape pod by the Sand People Mural and while I was doing so, this ******e that was completely decked out in PvP gear came up. He started attacking the MOBs which... flagged me? I have no idea how but I all of a sudden got flagged. Well, I'm level 50 as well but I stand no chance vs someone who obviously likes to grind PvP to get that stupid looking gear. Bioware should figure out what exactly is causing this because this is obviously not working at intended.
  17. Something like this would be awesome. You can already set an alt to be a "rival" of someone else... what if there were legacy missions that pitted said rivals against each other (while you take control of the one of your choosing?) That would be so much win
  18. So I love this event and I hope Bioware comes up with more stuff like this. That said, I can... almost see your point. Really, I like to RP too but just going pop once in a while due to infection doesn't ruin the immersion for me. Maybe it does for you, but I am having a hard time seeing it. The reason for quoting you though is this: You said you like the event minus one aspect of it. I'd argue that the event wouldn't be the same without that aspect. If you can't get infected or even infect others, there isn't much point to the event. It really just becomes another boring set of dailies. I've been infected twice now. Once, I let myself pop to see what would happen. Some Imperials jumped me, I took one out, then exploded and infected the other. (they seemed like they were roleplaying but then I got called some nasty names when I popped so I think they were just ******es ) The other time I got infected, I used a vaccine which prevents further infection for 6 hours. It was pretty smooth sailing after that.
  19. While I wouldn't complain if they refined the jumping mechanics, once you get used to how they work, you should be able to get all the datacrons with minimal effort. Yes, even the Nar Shaddaa ones As others have said, make sure to move forward FIRST and then hit jump. On some of the trickier jumps you may want to turn off sprint or even turn off run all together (/ key by default). I've watched so many people just run along pipes carelessly and fall off when that is COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE if they would just start walking. Take your time, line it up, practice and you'll get it.
  20. I just want to be able to hide helmets and hats on companions. Kira's "mask" thing she has now is basically the worst looking thing I've ever seen in my life
  21. Ok geez. I FINALLY found a site that had an image of the guy and his fight and THAT jogged my memory of it (this image if you are curious: http://static.swtor-spy.com/img/quest_images/507/Death_Spiral_1_3_1_Screenshot_20120123_19_06_47_431812.jpg) The reason I didn't remember this fight at all was because I didn't really have any trouble with it. Basically as others have said, you have to have a companion tank for you while you take out the adds. I used Doc as a tank (as weird as that sounds) because he was actually able to CC Rayfel for a while. I burned down the adds, use taunts to keep people off Doc when he got low on health and was done. After the adds are gone, the fight is just a typical boss battle.
  22. To be honest, I find playing my Jedi Guardian with all his thousands of abilities and key bindings to be WAY more fun than playing my Sorc which just presses two keys over and over and over again. If it's a boss, I might need to press up to four (4!) keys. With the Jedi Guardian, I feel like I'm actually PLAYING the class whereas with the Sorc, I just feel like I'm punching buttons. I know I'm just pressing buttons to make bars go up or down either way but still... the Guardian is just more satisfying. I guess that could be why I prefer driving manual cars. I like to drive my cars, not just steer them
  23. Yeah, I'd say once you realize which spell is the instant kill one, it's really easy. I just ignored ALL his clones and attacked only the Emperor. The clones don't really do much damage to you and you can use Awe to stun them for a bit while you just hit the Emperor with everything you've got.
  24. For those of us who haven't played the Sith Warrior (and don't mind spoilers) can you post (in spoiler tags of course) what happens during the Sith Warrior storyline exactly? I'm curious as to what is going on here
