  1. So I'm a Jedi Knight and at the end of Act 1, I don't remember this happening. I was told to "use my holocommunicator on my ship" when I wanted "to go back on duty". I don't remember having to go to the fleet and click on someone though I may have... I needed to go to the fleet anyway to buy some stuff so it wasn't a waste of time for me. That said, yeah, Gabe is really nit picking here. While I don't LIKE the planet -> orbital station -> ship -> orbital station -> planet thing, it's certainly not game breaking. The only "real" loading screens in all that are between station and ship. Otherwise, you get a small pause that shows the splash screen for like 3 seconds before you are zoned in. I do agree that just going to the fleet to click on a guy is dumb, it's really not as bad as Gabe is making it out to be and indeed, he is even saying as much on his Twitter.
  2. Can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet... Make sure that the "Show Dark Side Corruption" is checked in the options. I believe it's on by default but that's something to double check. EDIT: Ugh, sorry. I really should read more carefully before I post... I'm not sure why you don't have pale skin if you are showing the red eyes and such.
  3. Basically this. I'm a Guardian/Tank and just got Doc. Doc lets me solo (some) Champion mobs without even breaking a sweat. That said, using Kira just makes things die so much faster that I tend to use her to get through the trash and then switch to Doc for boss fights.
  4. Just finished Balmorra (which is toward the beginning of Act 2) so I can't speak for the latter part of the JK story. Act 1 is fun but I felt like I was a babysitter, taking care of other people's gross negligence. Most of the things I'm fixing in Act 1 really shouldn't have happened in the first place and point to someone going to prison for failing in their duties or at the very least, being relieved from duty. Act 2 so far has promise, but Balmorra was a slog to get through. I didn't really care about any of the people's problems on that planet and most of the people I was forced to work with deserved to be Force choked rather than helped. As someone playing a LS Jedi, this was a struggle
  5. The Republic isn't all sunshine and rainbows either though they are obviously far more moral than the Sith. If my (LS) Jedi runs into just one more Republic general who wants to murder billions because he is just "trying to win this damn war" I am going to lightsaber him in the face, Dark Side points be dammed!
  6. That's true, but how we get to that point is interesting I love this thread. Much better than the typical whine whine whine thread
  7. I am playing a Light Side Jedi and I will say... it's harder and harder to stay Light. Without giving too much away, the next Republic general I meet that is "just trying to win this war!" without thinking about the consequences is going to get a lightsaber to face just on principle Additionally, I'm really tired of the minor Sith soldiers I meet who - while pointing a blaster at a lightsaber equipped Jedi - spout off about how easily they will finish me off. Yes, because no Jedi has ever used a lightsaber to deflect blaster bolts before and it's not like I haven't killed many people in similar positions before you before either. Once they are defeated (without me having even broken a sweat), it's hard to not just kill them for being over confident a-holes
  8. Yes, Doc = easy mode. I am level 38 and just (somewhat) recently got Doc. Last night, I EASILY soloed a Champion that I'm fairly certain was meant to be brought down via a group. As long as the enemy you are facing isn't doing monster DPS to you, you can take anything down with Doc
  9. No. It would be cool if you did act more like a teacher but you are basically a babysitter, especially if you don't decide to pursue a relationship with her. That said, she eventually becomes very good at DPS so she's handy to have around.
  10. The reason for choosing a time period outside of the movies is because the movies are canon and if you can't change that, you can't have your character do anything meaningful. SWG had this problem. We couldn't have any effect on the Galactic Civil War because the outcome was already predetermined (so is the current Sith War but how it gets there is up in the air). We can't kill Darth Vader, we can't change the outcome of Hoth, we can't really do anything meaningful because all the meaningful stuff is done by Luke, Han, etc. Setting the game in their own (KOTOR) time period was one of the better ideas Bioware came up with.
  11. On the flip side, I completed every Republic side quest on Alderaan and didn't notice a single bug either. In fact, Alderaan was my favorite planet so far
  12. Ok so this thread will probably be locked soon but here's my take on the OP's nostalgia: I did like the huge planets but they were completely empty. The day/night cycles were awesome and I loved the weather effects. However, they were COMPLETELY EMPTY. There was nothing to do on them. Not much argument here... I wouldn't mind seeing more races in TOR but honestly, it's not really that big of a deal to me either way and there are more important things I'd rather see added. You know those movies and their story, however, it's a TERRIBLE idea to put an MMO in this timeframe because you are incredibly restricted by what you can do and what you can have the players do (unless you just want to consider it "not canon" but that doesn't really fly for Star Wars that much). So what did SOE do because of the time period they set their game in? Well, you weren't allowed to be a Jedi at first (in fact, the Jedi system wasn't even in the game at launch) and in order to get Jedi, you had to grind (and the word "grind" isn't a strong enough term) all the professions, including ones you had no interest in. So there were de facto no Jedi. Second, you couldn't really do anything to affect the Galactic Civil War because the movies already set in stone what happened. You could join the Empire but you couldn't help them to victory. You could join the Alliance but you really didn't get to do anything important. Rather, most of the time you were sent on missions that were "go destroy this enemy camp" which used the same code and same logic as the missions that were "go destroy this nest of womprats." This caused enemy camps to randomly spawn stormtroopers at set intervals like it was a cloning machine. Anyway, there's more but you get the point. The timeline for SWG was a mistake. By setting TOR in their own time period, the devs can make anything happen that they want and all players can make a difference (at least, canonically). 1) ground vehicles and starships were not in at launch. I loved the huge (empty) worlds but running across them ON FOOT was terrible. 2) Yeah, the player run economy is ok, I guess but it means that certain players have to be crafters and crafting in that game was literally like a full time job. Some people liked it though so that's fine I guess. 3) Won't argue with this but... I'd prefer other features to this. 4) Not at launch. 5) Dynamic resource spawns, yes, but you had to hunt for them which a huge grind. 6) Not at launch. I played SWG and it wasn't a game, it was a simulation. There's a BIG difference.
  13. Here is one of Kira: http://www.swtorface.com/2012/02/many-looks-of-kira-carsen.html Don't know of any others.
  14. You'd think that... maybe I was just having ability delay and/or lag? I just remember being OUT of interrupts when he'd attempt to cast something (either that or me pressing kick was doing nothing). I wish I could redo the battle and see what was going on now but you're right... Kick SHOULD have been available. It does seem like you could run out of interrupts though. If you did something like this: Kick Stasis Kick <At this point, all you have left is push> Push, follow by Leap <At this point, you probably have kick back, let's assume you do> Kick <Out of interrupts for 8 seconds which is more than enough time for Angral to cast something> Am I missing something?
  15. Took me four tries at level 33 or 34 (I forget but it was around there). Interrupting him didn't seem to be viable for me. I know you are supposed to but I found my battles with him to be like this: Send Kira in. Jump in. Attack, attack attack (etc.) Interrupt with kick Interrupt next attack with stasis Interrupt next attack with push Interrupt next... oh wait, I can't interrupt because they are all on cooldowns. Oh great, this particular attack just knocked off 60% of my health in one shot. He proceeds to kill me. In fact, when I finally did beat him, I think it was more luck than anything else. I still don't know WHICH skill is the one that does 60% damage to you and I found that you can't just interrupt everything because then you are left with everything on cooldowns and he just owns you. If he didn't do that one "cheap" attack, he'd be pathetically easy. That attack aside, I (as a defense spec'd Guardian using Kira) out DPS him by several light years And because of that, I'm definitely not saying he should be easier since... he's already pretty simple, certain attacks aside. So given my experience with this, which attack of his is the one that essentially one-shots you?
  16. Jedi Academy also had the console. It was the same engine (one of the Quake engines, I forget which) and they didn't bother hiding the console on either Outcast or Academy. Man... those games were awesome
  17. Hopefully now that you've gotten that response, something will be done. I know you've given it a long time thus far, but I'd recommend giving it a little longer and seeing what happens after this latest response. Like I said, I am very disturbed that it's taken this long for you. I am really enjoying this game but seeing someone so obviously broken with nothing being done is disheartening. I understand that CS is busy but that's not really a good excuse.
  18. So I don't really care that much either way... but that said, I don't really see what was wrong with the cool down effect in the first place (when the game first came out). I'm not really sure what the optimal solution is, though.
  19. First off, nobody except Bioware knows how their game is structured. Speculating on a "missing database flag" is pointless. We don't know how this happened or how easy or hard of a fix it is. Second, I am quite disturbed that this still hasn't gotten a response. OP, have you tried posting this in the Customer Service and/or General forums? Bioware seems to read those forums more than the Jedi Knight one (I don't feel like they read the Jedi Knight forums at ALL) and MAYBE you'll get an official response. Try that and in the meantime, I'd continue filing tickets in game. If I were in the OP's shoes, I'd be quite upset as well. I am not one to re-roll a character. If I made it up to 25 and then lost my character for some reason, I'd just cancel my sub simply because I don't have the patience to go through all those levels again.
  20. Slightly off topic, but I get wildly varying load times and I'm not sure why. Sometimes, Tatooine takes 5+ minutes to load and sometimes it takes 45 seconds. Not sure why. On topic, I usually browse the internet on my phone while it loads.
  21. I noticed this the other day when guarding a Jedi Sage. I'm a Guardian. I'm not sure if it was because I spent a talent point or if it was because we died and had to revive at the med center. Either way, I wasn't allowed to put guard back on the Sage.
  22. I've only seen the last 3 you listed but man... the Ability Delay with Force Push is KILLING me. That one NEEDS to get resolved ASAP.
