  1. Coffee. Black. You have five minutes.
  2. I spent a good part of tonight leveling both an Assassin and an Operative. My friend talking be into joining the dark side and said he would help me level. He is also an Artifice crafter, so he will hook me up with crystals and such. I have to say I enjoyed the Agent story more than the Inquisitor. However, I found the playstyle of the Agent a tad dull. Granted they are not that high in level, but as much as it saddens me to say, I prefer the force and lighsabers. I went over the abilities list of each class and I didn't see that much of a difference in most of the moves. From reading a lot of threads on SWTOR.com it seems for the time being I am better off with an Assassin. Maybe at some point I will go back to the Operative, but for now I am going to level the Assassin. I gotta admit, a saber staff is pretty cool compared to the rifle, blade, and grenades.
  3. While I am partial to lightsabers, it seems I would be better off going Shadow/Assassin. Looking over the abilities list of each class, both seem to have the same types of skills, with the Shadow having lots more utility. However, knowing how MMO's work, that could change in a patch. I do not like comparing WoW to SWTOR, but as we all know Rogues only had sprint to work with as a gap closer for a long time, then came Shadowstep, which changed the Rogue forever. I could go with the safe choice, with the Shadow/Assassin and enjoy the current advantages the class has over the Op/Scoundrel. OR I can go with Op/Scoundrel and hope that in the future they are brought in line with the other classes. However, considering the changes BW has made to the class in the four months the game has been live, it's not looking too good.
  4. Thanks for the replies. If I want an easier time, go Shadow/Assassin. If I want to have more fun, go Scoundrel/Op. I have to say I am more curious about going Scoundrel/Op. They do not seemed to be played as much as the Shadow/Assassin. I am not one to shy away from a "hard" class. One of the reason I first started a Sentinel was due to hearing they were a challenge to play. I guess what I have to figure out is if I want to play on a lower population republic server, where my other republic characters are. Or play on my Imperial server, where the population is much higher. I am assuming that the higher population server would be easier to get warzone matches, but considering I have yet to pvp on my republic characters, I have no idea.
  5. Currently I have a Sentinel, but it seems with the recent 1.2 patch notes everyone and their dog are making a sentinel/marauder. I do not like being a dime a dozen. It seems Shadows and Scoundrels are less played or will be less played. I am into stealthy characters. I was a Rogue in WoW for years. I liked messing with people, coming up to them and sapping them, laughing at them etc. Not to mention the ability to gank etc. I read in the patch notes that Scoundrels/Operatives are getting another nerf, but I do not have one to comment on how it might effect the playing of one. If I just wanted to PVP. Do the objectives and be a team player with the ability to take someone down when needed...which of these classes would be better suited?
  6. Does anyone here think that a DPS Assassin would be better off in warzones compared to a DPS Operative? And why?
  7. I'm surprised that operatives/scoundrels do not have some sort of gap closer. Also... How is it when you pop of stealth? Do you have to run around for a while before you can get back into stealth or is it relatively easy?
  8. As a concealment operative what is your roll in warzones?
  9. A few weeks ago I started a Marauder and I have lots of fun playing the class. I would say I do fairly well as a Marauder. However, the only problem I have is, on my server they are every where. At least this week they are. I'm assuming it's due to the recent news of 1.2 and the buff/s they are receiving. Operatives on the other hand seem to be few and far between. Considering the 1.2 notes, it seems they will be even more rare. This interests me as I like playing the "rare" classes. I also enjoy being stealthy and a pain in the rear of the enemy. I do not care if I am not #1 in damage, what I do care about are objectives and helping my team win. A friend of mine in the guild, who has an operative, said they are similar to a sub rogue in WoW, which was my bread and butter. Obviously they are not 100% similar, but it's the closest thing he could compare them to. I read that at 50 the class isn't exactly looked at for raiding, which is okay by me, I have never been a raider to begin with. My main concern is pvp. I guess what my question to you all is, what is the main roll of a operative in pvp? What are they good at and what should I be aiming to do?
  10. I have only pvped in this game with a Marauder. Meaning I have no basis for comparison. At first it was a bit hard, as I had no idea of how to play the class in the pvp environment. I am no where near perfect, I have room to improve. However, after a few days of doing warzones, I can come out in top 3 damage, with top 3 objective numbers. I normally PUG, so some games I do not do as well as others. Some games I get focused down all the time. Some games I die maybe once or twice. I wouldn't say Marauder is hard, you just have to press a lot binds to be effective. Some people prefer gravity round spam or force lightning spam. It's a matter of preference.
  11. That's true, I am basing some of my experience from WoW onto this game. I have to admit I have little experience pvping in TOR. I try not to equate each experience as the same, I am more or less just relying on my past of strategies and what would be my wants for a character in TOR. I do not expect these two games to be at all similar in respect to classes or how things function as far as game objectives. I do however think that strategies are similar. In the aspect that healers are always priority number 1. The team with more healers, usually means a victory. As it's easier to win a game where your team gets healed and doesn't die.
  12. that is a good point. I always forget that most classes have talents to increase their stealth detection.
  13. I wouldn't call that arguing. I was stating what my opinion was on the basis that stealth characters have easier times getting in and out of fights. While it is true that Marauders/Sentinels have an easier time taking down healers, at least from what I read in this thread. I was speaking from the experience that stealth characters have an easier time controlling the battles in which they engage in. By the leg up comment, I was merely commenting on the fact that Sents/Marauders would have to fight their way to a healer. People would see them coming. I did not say they were less effective than a Shadow/Assassin in killing healers. Again, just that Assassins/Shadows would have the leg up in getting to and away from their enemies.
