  1. I’m still waiting for an explanation for them changing the mods and enhancements to be slot locked.

Honestly, how hard is to find out and tell us?? Anyone would think it was a state secret and the game would fail if they told us.

Musco touched on this here. It may not be the depth that you want but it clearly states itemization issues.

  2. BRING MY VETTE BACK!

    So the situation is this.

After latest patch one of my sith warrior (the only one that made it to Ossus, skipping everytjing after SoR) has lost her Vette - she desappeared without a trace from the list of companions.

Am i the only one with this issue?

I had Jaesa active (brought back from the terminal on Odessan) when I started the Ossus chain. I received the Major as my temp companion. When I completed the story line I noticed Jaesa had disappeared from my companion list. I went back to Odessan to see if she was there again but alas, she was not. I logged on to one of my other Warriors in which I had also skipped the chapters and noticed that Jaesa has deserted that toon as well. She is my favorite comp for that class and now she has disappeared in to the ether. Perhaps she took my place in carbonite when I skipped that whole sequence. Jaesa, come back to me....

*Having* an alignment doesn't matter for GC. What matters for GC is the state of your alignment toggle, that is, which alignment you are *working towards*, so provided you manage the flow correctly, you can stay neutral.

I believe he is saying that you get bonus cxp when your alignment matches the one in Victory State.

  4. But, why do you keep picking up missions and letting them just sit in your mission log?

You could partly solve this problem by just completing some of the missions and/or by abandoning some and picking them up again later when you intend to actually do them.

I would like to see the ability to drop some missions that are forced upon you or you pick up solely to have access to a planet. Crystal ball is one such that I don't plan to do on all my toons. Not going to do Makeb any further than actually getting on to the planet for TC on the rest of my toons either.

  5. The random X in endgame is a raider thing, that mainly worked because the majority of players doesn't know that you can use custom chat channels. When others discover "endgame" for their own purpose, they bring their own system with them. In gen chat, folks see "x" as someone signing up for a pug, Angry forum posts won't change that.

Convincing the handful of progress raiders to move to another channel or switch to another system to get in touch, would be easier than trying to force masses of conquest farmers to adapt to their new channel's established rules.

I find this thread funny because I have been using the x method since before SWToR was released. We used to use it in Open and Guild chat's in WoW. For him to say that it was originated by NiM Raiders here is naïve at best.

  6. There seem to be oodles of problems with the guild perk display. For example I know that there are perks for extra conquest objectives for warzones, flashpoints, operations and GSF - I've only seen the first two myself though and only know about the other two from seeing others talk about having them. More recently the flashpoint perk also just disappeared from the list on our own guild ship display, showing as neither available nor unavailable.

I don't know if this is just a visual bug or something that goes deeper, but the result is the same, leaving us unsure if we should even bother with purchasing more perks until Bioware fixes this, as we might be missing out on much better ones that we simply can't see at the current moment.

I believe that the perks rotate. Just because it was there last month doesn't mean it will be next.

  7. So, as you can see from the front page... the advertisement for the cartel packs, shows a Bounty Hunter, using a rifle.

    See here: https://www.swtor.com/info/news/news-article/20190103

    Wouldn't that be cool?!

You know what you be great?

If as a ranged class, you could use any ranged weapon....

    Example:

Bounty Hunters could use rifles, heavy cannon, pistols, whatever.

As a melee class, you could use any weapon.

Guardian / Juggernaut could use a Double Bladed Lightsaber, or Two sabers.

A shadow / assassin could use a single blade....

Considering that all but one of the bounty hunters in the movies used rifles or carbines, I have always wondered why the PT didn't use the rifles and the Merc's use the pistols.

  8. I imagine they wanted to have things that are enjoyable in different areas of the game.

If there are players who play for GSF, it gives them a way to earn the crystals, albeit slowly.

For those that want to grind it out as fast as possible, it makes them play other parts of the game they wouldn't ordinarily touch...for me, right now, that's pvp/gsf.

Granted. Getting people to engage in other parts of the game isn't a bad idea to my mind. The question still stands though. Why (1) wz match win or lose, (4) fp's completed, (3) gsf wins? Where is the parity?

  9. Its cyclical based on what the population finds to be worth their time. If you watch the FP activity on certain conquest weeks, you will notice specific FPs pop more frequently too. Again, its based on what the playerbase finds important, and changes from week to week, expansion to expansion, update to update. People can run Ilum and get the conquest points or they can run Black Talon and not. People can run hammer station x4 times and get their MW shard, or they can try Crisis of Umbara x4 and walk away empty handed by failing it. Its the players choice.

Nobody is telling you to run HS x4 to complete ur quest, but there may not be 3 other people of the proper roles that are in agreement with running the FPs u want instead.

Keep in mind that the OP states that the PvP quest is finished with one easy queue but the FP quest requires 4 completions and now... word has it that the GSF quest requires 3 wins. Not really comparable. Intentions to engage people in all aspects of the game aside, why are the parameters so different? 1 Wz, 4MM Fp's, 3 GSF wins. They do not equate.

  10. Do you remember that PvP and PvE gear used to be kept separate? Making PvE gear restricted to NM ops had no impact on the ability to PvP.

Had a new 258 tier of gear been added with 5.10 that could ONLY be obtained by NM ops, and were PvP bolster made to 258, I imagine that there wouldn't be as much negative feedback.

Do you remember how the 5.0 gearing method REMOVED gearing by doing NM content and replaced it with an RNG madhouse of "what gear am I going to destroy today? It took months and months before they finally improved the gearing to something more palatable with 5.6.

And going back further, do you remember how 4.0 made the two easiest HM operations drop better gear when they were "featured" than the most difficult NM operation? On what planet was that a good decision?

My point being that with 4.0, 5.0 and now with 5.10, we've seen the developers doing weird things with gearing.

They're getting push back from players because their implementations are illogical and don't result in something that's actually fun.

These recent changes seem to exist for the sole purpose of "give the hamsters something to do because 6.0 is a very very very long way off". This is, of course, just a guess. But I can say with certainty they weren't trying to make a "more fun game" with these changes.

I do remember these times which is why I brought them up. I also remember having enough coms to totally gear up 8 toons in BiS just from playing the game I came to play and without actual effort. I remember that the 4.0 Op of the week made gearing a joke for PvE. I know that people got used to that mistake and when it was taken away, they went ballistic. Absolutely some of the issues posted were legit. But to have to work towards gearing has been part of the game from the start. Gear progression is an intrinsic part of MMORPG's. 4.0 dissolved that and now that working towards gear has been reinstituted, people have been posting blowback. Gear has always been a reward for doing content. It also get's you ready for the next stage. I was proud to be walking around in BiS pre 4.0. So too were many of my friends. The I want it now fast food homogenized mochachino world has erased that. The weird things done for gearing was 4.0 imo. I don't have a problem with working for something. Been doing it all my life. I'm certainly not going to come in and insult the very people I want to try and convince to tweak the game. That's not a strategy, it's an exorcise in futility.

My guess is that they are trying to bring the game in to alignment with things that were demanded from players in these very forums. But as always, be careful what you wish for because you just may get it. And "it" is usually not as great as was first envisioned.

  11. Sareeph,

I don't disagree with anything you wrote per se, largely because it is more philosophical in nature. At the end of the day, people will value time spent gathering gear in a video game differently. To each his/her own.

I do feel pretty comfortable saying though that if BW does (and I assume they do) have 'big plans' to change the nature of gearing, then it might have made sense to announce those changes before they started actually implementing it.

This is not an unrealistic expectation. Then again they may have a base plan but are willing to work with us to the degree that all the work towards 6.0 will allow. I was posting some of my speculations after all.

And while we do pay to play an established game, we also have the privilege along with paying for a subscription to give feedback. My feedback is twofold:

    1) We are going to get ossified on Ossus because drop rates for 252 gear / MWS are too low in T4 crates, particularly since they are introducing new levels in 6.0 and this gear is just a placeholder until then.

    2) I like playing with different builds and stats and one of two things will happen: a) BW's goal of pigeonholing and reducing hybrid builds will still fail, but it will just take longer and annoy the player base; b) people will find the extra grind too long and move on to greener pastures (i.e., other games).

Regardless, if BW wants to make big changes to gearing, I don't see why they are hiding those plans since they already began implementing it and know what is in the plan.

    Dasty

    1) Once you get past the initial questline, which I can complete in half an hour once I get on planet, the only real thing is the two world boss quest and the rep. I already have enough tokens to take me to legend using alts as you mentioned earlier in another thread. My grind is finished. The other shards are obtained from doing things other than on Ossus. PvP. FP's (supposedly, the PvP has been in place for both weeks), GSF. These are the things people like to do.

    2) You can still use differing builds/stats. If you wish to run around in tank spec but use dps stats, you can do so. Just don't expect to be able to actually tank anything challenging. If you want accuracy on your heal spec, it's possible. You won't be able to function as well at higher levels of content though. Dps without accuracy, sure, you will just have to deal with missing your target at times and wish your interrupt actually hit when it was most needed.

As for the last, neither I nor anyone else knows and can be a question put forward in another thread. This one has degenerated too much to expect the devs to actually see such a question.

  12. I, for one, neither need nor desire you to do the math for me. Why? Because it's been done.

Your platitudinal posturing about how there is a larger stat pool is 100% wholly irrelevant. The math has been done. You continue to make assertions that are 100% true (e.g., larger stat pool) that have absolutely nothing to do with the conversation.

Why? The issue, quite simply, is that it is harder to achieve optimization because you cannot switch out mods and enhancements. Ergo, it requires you to (wait for it) farm more, largely pointless gear for classes and specs that are not your main (or one of your primary alts).

We know the road to take. The road is now just much, much longer. As Eric asked for our feedback, we are letting him know we don't really like that <<sings>>Long and Winding Road.

It's really not that difficult. All of your posts are theoretical philosophical waxing about the need to adapt and information assymmetries. You can tell us to adapt all you want. Meanwhile, we will, per Eric's suggestion -- provide him the feedback he requested.

    Dasty

P.S. Why did I take you off ignore? Silly me. Back on.

So you at least know that optimization is possible by your statement but do not like the amount of time or required methods involved. Not sure if you were around before the face roll gear fiasco that was 4.0 but before gear was separated into PvP and PvE, there was gear only attainable from doing Nightmare op's. It took a lot more time and effort to acquire than this very easy but tedious method we are getting now. Now that gear is all the same, we have a choice. Dedicate the time and effort to do the Master Mode operation or, spend less time and way less skill than it takes to gear yourself up in an 8 man op learning how to defeat the new mechanics that are harder than any other previous operation per Matt.

1 - This is an intended change. That being said, we know there is definitely some friction from this change and so keep raising your concerns/feedback which I can pass to the team. We have made no secret of the fact that we know we are due for some big itemization changes to address a variety of issues around gearing. Please keep telling us what you would like to see in the future from gearing in SWTOR. We will continue to gather feedback and as we get into the next year, we will have active conversations with you about future gearing plans.

As the one role that can not be totally reworked to pre 5.10 standards using the "largely pointless" method, I believe that tanking is one of the things he is mentioning here. The dev's made a mistake and gave defense roughly half of the value it should of had. It is my belief that seeing this from all the varied responses from other threads, they intend to address this among other issues. Of course many people took advantage of that mistake and started using mods that were probably not intended to be used. Long ago the Devs made it clear that they wanted to discourage or simply end the use of hybrid roles which is why they took away specializing in multiple trees. Using Lethal B's seems to me to fit under that same category. If I am correct, we will see the values of defense change in 6.0 making the use of the Lethal's a very unhealthy choice for raid groups/fp groups.

Of course I fully expect to see mountains of complaints and "the dev's don't understand their players" posted throughout these forums but remember, contrary to what many like to believe, we pay to play an established game. Our sub money does not give us the luxury of having a custom built to our personal ideals, game. The ideals of the players are varied too much to do so. I know many of like mind come here and on reddit to post but they are but a fraction of the total base. My personal experience is that I meet an overwhelming amount of people who don't even realize these forums exist or if they do, they do not post due to the toxicity here and on reddit. The terms "troll" and "white knight" have taken on the meaning of anyone not agreeing with my point of view.

Keep in mind, asking for input does not mean they will use every suggestion or even the ones that are most popular. The devs already had a system for loot in place with the 5.0 release and that people expected them to just scrap all that work was just unrealistic. They did however alter it over time to make it less of a grind and totally exempt from rng. We are given gear with usable stats but they are not optimized and if we wish to pursue optimal stats, then that is on us and we must endure the "largely pointless" methods to do so. You want the best, then you have to work for the best. The world is replete with examples of this.

  13. These are good questions, so let me try to address them.

1 - This is an intended change. That being said, we know there is definitely some friction from this change and so keep raising your concerns/feedback which I can pass to the team. 2 - This is a bug, I acknowledged it here. The reason we didn't fix it with today's patch is that addressing this issue is actually pretty substantial from our side. It will involve us not only fixing the items to work properly going forward, but we need to actually "change" the gear already in the wild to work together. That is the part that is challenging as we need to touch armorings that players are wearing without impacting the rest of their gear. We are working on a solution for this, but it is not something we could turn around in time for 5.10a.

Thank you all for your continued feedback. Bigger itemization changes will come and we will definitely talk through them with you when they get here (not soon™). Thanks all.

I'm not going to rant and rave like some but I will ask a question.

Could you not place an NPC that allows you to swap bugged gear "from out in the wild" for unassembled tokens that could then be traded in for corrected items? Make it so the entire piece needs to be exchanged instead of a shell. Or even just the shell if feeling magnanimous.

  14. Hey everyone, as I said in the title, I have some questions about referral links, because I'm quite confused about how it actually works.

I know it says only for Free To Play players and preferred, but I often see people talking about referring subscribers to get more cartel coins, so, does it work with people who are currently subscribed ?

Also, I've seen guys in chat giving 1mil credits to players who clicked on their referal link, at first I didn't know why but now I kind of understand, and I'm wondering if I should do the same or not if I'm looking for quick cartel coins, now that I am in this kind of situation.

So, if you have any advice or experience about these kind of stuff, that would be welcomed, thanks !

As stated below, referrals are intended for those not currently a sub so those looking for current subs who have never clicked a link are intentionally breaking the ToA.
