  1. Except that it doesn't make sense from the point of MMO game development. You've just said that, yes, there's an imbalance. Putting aside the fact that you enjoy this imbalance, doesn't the fact that that exists bother you? We have average players of the other classes matching the proficiency of the excellent players of marauders. That's lazy. Either boost marauders so people can make the most of all the classes just as easily as one another or make the other classes more complex to match marauder (not the best idea, admittedly). There's no reason we should just accept an imbalance. And this is coming from a 50 marauder who greatly enjoys his character. I'd like to see more diversity in warzones and making this class even slightly more embraceable would help.

    *crickets*

It's your server. Ilum is active during throughout the first few days of the weekly reset and my longest warfront queue time midday on a weekday is 10 minutes on Shii-Cho. 2 minutes during Primetime and weekends. That said, I agree they need to work on more content, but there are some very active servers out there. It's unfortunate for those stuck on worse ones, admittedly.
  3. With writing like that, they must have been bestsellers. Jokes aside, I'm assuming English is a second or third language of yours. With regard to the topic at hand...I get that this game just isn't for some people, but I don't think the fault lies with the devs. As far as content is concerned, this game has more 1-49 content per character than any new MMO I've seen in recent years. I heartily enjoy Warzone PvP, though I agree that their World PvP leaves a lot to be desired. The end-game hard mode flashpoints and ops missions, as well as world bosses, are decent to moderately entertaining, though they'll need to add more in time. But really, I can't think of any MMO that had months of end-game content upon release. That's just not how the industry works...and to expect that is just ignorance. I'm going to continue enjoying the game for another three months or so to see what content the developers come out with. I usually don't play MMOs longer than that, so I'll have gotten my money's worth if they keep me entertained until then. So far so good. For those curious, I have a Powertech (50), Marauder(50), Sorcerer (25) and Operative (21) (Made the Operative after the nerf). I've enjoyed each and every class.
  4. I don't mind the incoming gear and bag changes. As an alt whore, it'll make my new characters transition to upper-level pvp that much easier. I do have a question though. When you hit 50, did you prepare for it with 1k warzone and merc comms + champ bag in the bank? Did you have all orange gear with all epic quality pve modifications? Epic level 48+ ear pieces, implants and relics? Or did you enter the new bracket the moment you hit 50? I'll agree, there's a substantial difference between going into level 50 PvP with gear that will allow you to easily do level 50 PvE content and entering the 50 PvP bracket with stronger, but not especially difficult to acquire, equipment. For my alts, I've been crafting them epic gear and mods for when they hit 50 to smooth the transition. None of that is necessary for the final class quests, the daily commendation quests or even some of the hard mode FPs, but it makes a difference. And it will certainly do so in PvP. I would think any person knowing what awaits them in the level 50 PvP bracket would be doing the same. At the very least prepping to open 6 bags upon hitting 50 is a must.
  5. Can't help but agree. The worst thing I've seen is when tab targeting selected someone who wasn't even on my screen and a bit behind me. I was trying to move forward with a charge as a hutt ball carrier and someone popped into view by the goal. I saw they were going to jump off the platform, so without time to click... 1. Tab 2. Q 3. Character leaps 10 meters behind him and to the left to an enemy off screen. Needless to say I didn't score.
  6. Your blindness is truly stunning. Your definition is exclusive (only full stuns, completely locking abilities are CC) whereas the wikipedia definition is inclusive. The wiki definition states that CC refers to any ability that limits the number of mobs actively fighting in an encounter. This includes snares and roots against melee users that keep them out of combat. Some snares and roots prevent gap closers and other similar abiliites, not to mention moving your character could easily be described as an 'action' that root prevents (notice they were mindful to differentiate between the two). It doesn't support your definition at all. It outright contradicts it. I'm sure the large majority of MMO players who have been playing for years would also disagree with you.

    Twinking

Is there a different meaning to this than what I thought? Twinking is just giving an alt best loot for their level right? I've been doing it on my newest alt. First char was a powertech with armormech, so I'm crafting him purple armor until he can get orange gear. Once he hits orange gear, I already have purple mods lined up for him from my 2nd and 3rd alts (artifice and cybertech, respectively). Or have I misunderstood the meaning of the term?
  8. May have been raised before, but I only got 10 pages in. I think another aspect of their difficulty is that they depend heavily on their team knowing what they're doing. Without escapes and being prone to roots (which nullify their best abilities), unless your team is keeping virtually everyone else busy and distracted, snipers can't do crap. All other classes in the game (including their alternate: operatives) can either do significant damage even when outnumbered and/or escape with a variety of area cc or knockbacks to back out of the onslaught without having to rely on a system like cover to utilize it. For other classes, you can still perform fairly well in a losing match, but that becomes nearly impossible for snipers once they're noticed. And you might say,"Hey, that's the whole point of the class. It's in their name." But that doesn't really reflect the nature of pvp in this game since they have the same range and damage output as other ranged dps classes, yet they're restricted by cover and have less utility. They could use some love.
  9. What MMO had months of end game upon release? None. At least this game provides a generally new experience with each series of class quests and the different factions and alignment choices provide for unique experiences. Certainly, more than can be said of other MMOs.
  10. Glad to see one more person realizing the nerf was reasonable and not too hard hitting. The only suggestion I have for you is not to consider PvP in 1v1 situations since, by and large, you will not be alone in warzones or open world pvp. If even one other person is beside you, they will immediately stun the Operative. You'll regain control in one and a half seconds (remember, reduced stun time) and you'll both demolish him. The nerf was needed, but nothing more. Operatives are still strong, but their targets are provided a window of opportunity to retaliate instead of being a guaranteed kill. That's balance.
  11. Hm, I'll have to keep an eye out for this. I've seen quite a number of posts that are downright insulting go without deletion, but maybe they're just not being marked. On the other hand, those few posts that I have noticed disappear have been clearly inflammatory.
  12. All that needs to be said. It was a rage post; little else. Beyond that, it was a rather strange complaint. He was mad he got booted out of a losing game that he was just put into mid-match. He never made it out of the gate. He lost, literally, seconds of game time.
  13. Lmao, skeleton...guess we'll ignore the 90% of content they got right. I agree, the end-game is weak and the pvp reward system is transparently designed to artificially lengthen game time. But everything before 50 was really well done.
  14. I wondered about that too. Space spiders, I guess. Eating space flies.

    BM is a joke

Ah, my apologies. When I hear 'grind', I associate that with a negative. So you just naturally got to 60 by playing pvp that you enjoy. That is good. If you don't feel it's a grind, is the wait much of an issue? I could understand if BM was doubly as strong as Champ gear, but it really only provides a modest improvement. Not sure if I'd be terribly upset for not having it if I greatly enjoyed PvP (Which I do). I agree with you that it shouldn't be random though. I would never defend the RNG system in place. I just don't think it's exceptionally frustrating is all.
  16. Yet he apparently hasn't read them since he doesn't know how to complete them. I wanted to be fully informative to ensure he knows how to proceed. Meanwhile, your post added nothing. Well done.
  17. Happened to me and many others. It's been reported and the devs are aware of it.
  18. If you go to Ilum and take the taxi to the zone to the west, a quest and codex will show up that fully describes it. Also, on the Imperial Fleet (or whatever the Republic equivalent is), there is a quest terminal in the Combat Training area that fully describes level 50 PVP activities. You want to acquire and open as many Champion Gear Bags as you can. If you're lucky, you will get Champion level PvP gear, which is the second best PvP equipment in the game. This will also provide you a substantial bonus in PvE gear if you haven't done any hard mode Flashpoints yet. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

    BM is a joke

Look to every big name MMO that has come out after WoW. They all start with relatively restrained content, bugs, and a host of other issues because they are new IPs. This is the reality of MMO development. Even with a few years, you don't come out with a product matching WoW at year 8. That kind of thought process doesn't make any sense. The best they can assuredly offer is a unique gameplay experience (anything different, easy to accomplish). These developers will not be able to provide a 'perfect' game with just a few years and to expect that is foolishness. Edit: Adding to that, even with as much data acquired as you can get, you can only predict so much before introducing your game to hundreds of thousands of players. Think of the number of new exploits and bugs that were discovered within the first week of release. People think Bioware was lazy for not finding them, but the truth is it's difficult to measure exactly how that enormous number of people will influence the game world you've made. I'm not saying they haven't made mistakes. Obviously there have been missteps (Ilum 1.1 was a big one. Any sensible person could have seen that coming), but this is far from an outright failure.

    BM is a joke

World of Warcraft started in 2001. Why did you think adding the development time to one game but not the other would have worked? Also, according to Vivendi, WoW was developed with $63 million. Consider the time and that it was the first MMO. By all means, SWTOR should be provided nearly as much patience (though admittedly not exactly the same).

    BM is a joke

Wait, so you knew that BM rank did not provide guaranteed equipment and you rushed to get it as soon as possible? And now the wait surprises you? Not sure what to say...
  22. ...you can just not take the air vent. I'm starting to think your difficulty in realizing they were random is related to your failure to grasp the concept that they are entirely optional.
  23. Thanks for this. Nice to see some positive and thoughtful posts to stem the tide of sludge in this forum. Hopefully some people learn from it.
