  1. Marauders can do it if they spec into increased Predation and the Defenders can use the speed boost just in front of that pit to cross over to the offensive side. I only see a minor issue with it, that being it makes the already incredibly utility-based Sorcs have more utility. I say this having a Sorc alt, of course.
  2. Pretty sure properly specced marauders/sentinels have the lowest possible medals available to them. Especially those specced for bleeds.
  3. Hm...what would be a good alternative? Perhaps raising the requirement for total dmg medals to 100k, 150k and 200k and so on? I see a lot of pure dps specs get those and only in very long matches with a lot of heals on the opposing side will non-dps classes get that high. Just a thought. Anyway they're adding 14 more achievable medals in 1.2. Hopefully they've considered something like this for all of our non-bursty dps classes in the game (of which there are a good number).
  4. Become that? Even as early as Everquest, grinds and incredibly low loot drop rates kept players repeating content and remaining customers. When have MMOs not had grinds in any form?
  5. The thing is, I actually have little issue with the way they've implemented the rewards in this game aside from the reliance on wins in warzones for those bags which cut down the gear grind exponentially. And the best part is, they're cutting that in 1.2 and instead allowing direct purchases for PvP equipment, increasing the value of commendations and providing more medals for objective based gameplay. Like when I played Call of Duty, I always played with a party of my friends, just like I queue for warzones in this game. It's an enjoyably experience on its own in my opinion, and knowing they'll be rewarding effort in the future just makes it that much sweeter. All they need to do next is fix Ilum and some of the more prevalent bugs in the Hard Modes and Operations and they'll be well on their way to a strong MMO with few faults, IMO.
  6. LOL. Amazing. Anyway I scanned that entire topic. No post from a dev. Lot of people doubting it ever happened. No screenshots (as far as I could see). So...yeah.
  7. So we ask them for clarification. They're removing the reliance on wins so they know the reward system in place was not a good system. They're increasing the value of commendations and providing medals for objective based gameplay. They recognize they did not properly incentivize cooperation, teamwork or objective-based gameplay and we now have word from a dev stating that they are shifting the rewards to focus on that. Beyond asking for further clarification of these new systems, there's not much more to be done. We know they're heading in a good direction, there's an entire separate forum for suggestions like the one you posted, and getting mad or expecting the worst is pointless. Let's just see where they go with this.
  8. Oh, I'm sorry, I thought this was a topic to discuss reasonable ideas and any word from the devs regarding their implementation. It's funny how you went from potentially optimistic to rabid irrationality. Good luck with that.
  9. Funny how that's never worked for an MMO to date. The fact is people move on very quickly for games that only provide the same level of 'fun' each time. People look for new things, even if they are very similar (look at the Call of Duty franchise, though even that game is rife with carrots on sticks and a grind system). I am open to counterexamples.
  10. There was an enormous topic discussing this about a week or two back. And now: So...it's coming.
  11. Yeah, sorry but this is how MMOs work. They create a certain amount of repeatable content and rewards (carrots on the stick) to ensure continued play for the masses which we pay for so they can continue providing content and managing the servers we play on every day. There are free MMOs out there. Noticeably lower quality in a number of areas, of course.
  12. If anyone on the republic side this morning had to do their dailies, they were prevented from doing so for the full three hours of our session. So...it's possible. Anyway it's a moot point. They're removing wins as a requirement for the daily soon. It wasn't a good system and it reinforced warzone quitters.
  13. Let's not be unreasonable. My guild ran with two pre-made groups this morning and neither of our groups lost once in three hours of play. And we went up against the same republic players every single time. Cooperation and coordination go a long way. No point blaming an individual when the only way to counter that would be an equal level of communication and cooperation. If it's a group of strangers going against two pre-made groups using voice chat...yeah, hard to expect a win there.
  14. Hey friend, don't leave just yet. After 1.2, they'll be rewarding performance in matches, so you can earn rewards without requiring a win. Look forward to it.
  15. Like it was ripped right out of that awesome topic theorizing possible participation/objective based rewards to incentivize team work, cooperation and active play in warzones... ...dear god, this could be amazing.
  16. All fair points. As an aside, and having a brother who plays sniper, I'd be down with the range increase. Their class really only shines if they have an awesome and highly supportive team in warzone pvp. I'd be accepting of something that would improve their ability to perform better on their own, however slight.
  17. Are you actually arguing that running away from them, thus ending the fight, or asking someone else to kill them for you is a method of killing snipers as a warrior? Hilarious. The point made was that there's little warriors can do on their own to attack them if the sniper/gunslinger knows what they're doing and you've just supported their argument. A true strategy is to get close enough without them noticing (not easy for good snipers) for force choke/stasis, snare them (prevents them from using cover for the duration) and then wearing them down before it goes away or re-applying the snare if an opportunity arises. If they have you in your sights at the edge of a raised platform in the distance, retreat is the only viable option, however. They are the paper to our rock in those circumstances.
  18. The most we should do is ask him to clarify his statements or ask when we will have a more clear idea of these incoming changes. There are good and bad ways to implement this, so I don't see the point in throwing tantrums this early on. Contact him and ask.
  19. The only actions that count for objective points in hutt ball is damaging the enemy ball carrier and killing enemies by your goal. You get larger increments of points the closer the targets are to your goal line. I think it's BS too, but that's how it's measured.
  20. It can't be the effects (unless a player has a weak machine). Neither me or anyone I know experiences lag UNTIL the first death that grants valor to the group occurs. In fact, when our zergs encountered one another before the valor cooldown expired, we engaged in a non-lag fight because no one received an update to their quest or valor. The next time we met? Slideshow. Because people received credit and rewards for each kill that time. It's the system's method of kill recognition and updating quest and valor rewards that's the source of the problem.
  21. Do you...not realize that the lag stems from everyone's objectives and valor updating, not to mention zone buffs being applied during base conquests? It has nothing to do with kills alone. Larger warzones would likely work just fine.
  22. If basement dweller equates to discerning individual, I'll accept that. Why should we believe this when we have nothing to go off of but this stranger's word? Interesting if true, but there's nothing validating his claims.
  23. I scrolled through for a link to a citation...nothing. STAR WARS: The Old Republic > English > PvP
  24. Wins when I need to complete my daily or weekly, Medals all other times. Those are the most efficient methods of gearing up. Not that complicated.
  25. Then why allow it to heal at all? Why allow it be used outside of acquiring the magenta crystal? What used to be a good tool to decrease downtime still has those properties, but it would be a mistake to utilize it in that manner. I would understand if they just made it a non-interactable quest item, but for whatever reason they decided that not to be the case. Surely, their intent was never to have it exist solely for the purpose of acquiring the magenta crystal if it could still heal you and provide that refresh buff. It's just a really odd run around to eliminate its use in a warzone.
