  1. Something I'm surprised hasn't been raised yet is the fact that marauders are one of the most equipment-reliant classes in the game. To an almost absurd degree. When you just hit 50 and don't have any or very little PvP gear, you will likely never go above 250k dmg in a long warzone. It just doesn't happen. Even when you get solid PvP gear, you'll need to swap out many if not all of the available mods and enhancements for crit, surge and accuracy item modifications since most if not all of the ones you'll find for Centurion and much of Champion gear are just power based. Once they learn proper rotations and provide themselves equipment that better supports a marauder's dps potential, they'll notice a stark contrast between their old selves and their current efficacy. Tell them to focus on bettering their equipment before abandoning the class. Once they hit a certain threshold, there's no going back.
  2. Actually, the Vanguard was generally killing my team members before they were able to group up (they were not the best players, admittedly). He would take out one or two in a few hits and keep them respawning, sort of conveyer belt style. Take note that he has the highest amount of kills in that match and the only person who comes remotely close to that number has 120k less total damage and is a full dps-specced trooper. The vanguard was the one killing. The rest were tagging occasionally with AoE and other less significant attacks.
  3. Eh...I'm not sure if luck is all that's involved here. Can someone explain these Vanguard stats? http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/465/vanguardeffectiveness.png And our team was fairly well equipped. I was in all champ gear, for example. Supercommando. Guy still hit me like a train. I can't even imagine what the light and medium armor users went through.
  4. Uh...they advertised that the champion bag item drop rate was lowered. Most people figure it's now 5%. Where did the devs say otherwise? This is pretty well known.
  5. I'm not a fan of issuing praise for enemies on the opposing faction, but OP, I'm afraid you're completely mistaken. Check out this screenshot. The top name is a Vanguard with the right hybrid spec and equipment for PvP: http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/465/vanguardeffectiveness.png So unless you think he's hacking or something, you should be able to get the same numbers.
  6. /signed Brought up with the guild numerous times in the last few weeks and it seems everyone would love this idea. Try the suggestions board as well. I think the devs look at more suggestions like these over there.

    Shamefull

I'll edit this post with a screenshot when I get home. I'm referring to healing other players when you're not noticed. Even non-specced, tossing a shield on a player and getting two Dark Infusions off before returning to help them DPS down their opponents can make a hell of a difference. Also, our DPS seems to matter enough since we can easily get the 300k medal while many DPS-focused classes struggle to reach that. If you don't think properly timed Death Fields and no-cast-time Chain Lightning's don't kill groups, I call BS on you having a sorc. Or maybe you just don't play it as well as you could.
  8. An important point. War Hero is certainly achievable with modest play if you only have one or two characters and started out on release, but with consideration to the exponential growth in valor required to level up...well, he's nearly 30 levels above War Hero rank. That's really something else entirely.
  9. Marauders are in need of a buff more than anything, BUT just one that lessens their incredible reliance on equipment. That's really the issue. The difference between a battlemaster marauder and a cent/champ marauder is like night and day (difference between struggling to reach 220k total dmg and easily hitting 450k - 500k dmg every match) while the difference between those equipment levels for other classes is, while noticeable, far less extreme. Getting back on topic, when a player does encounter a fully decked out Marauder who knows their class and uses stims and everything available to them, they leave quite an impression. general special attacks for 3.5 - 4k, incredible survivability with well timed cooldowns, the list goes on. People think this is normal, but really you're looking at a marauder at its best possible. Those marauders are very rare. The class absolutely does not need a nerf.
  10. I legitimately find that disturbing. Less for the implications it might have on the game, but more for the individual responsible for it. The sheer amount of time necessary to reach that with the tools available to us in this game...I mean, even with kill trading that's absurd. I'm hoping it's a shared account or the product of hacking or botting. For that player's sake. And I know people have a right to spend their time however they like, but if a single player is truly responsible for that, I can't imagine that that much time spent is at all healthy.
  11. Were you upset when you saw pod racing in the theaters? What of the Boonta Speeder race? The concept of such professional sport-like activities in the Star Wars lore is not a foreign concept. Not sure what to tell you.

    Shamefull

I've now leveled three 50s: a Powertech, a Marauder and a Sorc in that order. All at least Champion level valor rank and I can say with confidence that the Sorcerer was by the far the easiest to play and provided the most utility in a warzone. Incredible DPS, AoE, able to pull team members, shields, heals (even non-specced) and the ability to earn the most medals for the least effort aside form properly specced tanks. That's...sort of crazy. The fact that willpower provides their class such enormous benefits across the board for everything they do might need to be looked at. It seems odd that I can get the 5k heal medal without speccing a single point into it while many dps classes have substantial difficulty reaching their 5k dmg medals without maxing out their equipment and using relics, stims, and expertise boosts at opportune moments. Maybe instead of a nerf, they should bring the other classes in line with sorcs, but I do think the incredible value they bring to the table in a warzone is really inarguable. Certainly more than most other classes.
  13. I do this and succeed in getting across 90% of the time on my sorc alt. It is great and I enjoy hearing the repubs on the other side speaking with /say warning me that I'll be banned for it. Truly laughable. And here's why it's not an exploit or a glitch or any other thing that really deserves to be fixed (though I predict Bioware will acquiesce to appease those who find issue with it). In all the times I've jumped, here's what I've had happen: - I succeed in making the jump and plant. Our team has blitzed and gains substantial momentum. (Happens more often than not) - I make the jump only to find that one or two players have spawned and noticed me, being averagely aware players. We fight and either they succeed in killing me outright or hold me at bay until the bridges are set. The jump has provided our team no benefit. - A player with a charge ability noticed and chased me across. The jump has provided our team no benefit. - A player stuns me mid jump, causing me to fall to my death. The jump has provided our team no benefit. - A player grapples me back. The jump has provided our team no benefit. ...you get the picture. The fact is this only works when the other team is too busy killing the players in the first section of voidstar and completely neglects to get to the bridge area where they should be in order to stop the caps. Force speed has to be used right before the jump and will not refresh if used when the doors open. Any player on the defending side has all the time in the world to get there and prevent a jump, but most do not. I welcome it and don't mind when I see the opposing team take advantage. Thing is, I'm usually looking for it so I can do something about it. There's no reason others can't do the same.

    Fixing Resolve

Nope. I can totally live with resolve in its current state and feel that I won't be losing out if it never changes. I can still have a notion that it could be better, but I do think it's 'fine'. But hey, feel free to continue with the obtuse act. You're good at it.

    Fixing Resolve

I think resolve is fine, but feel that roots need to add to the resolve meter, at least a little. I don't mind snares, but roots can be just as effective as a full stun in matches where they matter (Huttball) so I find it a little strange that they're completely independent of one another.
  16. Think of it like a variable cap. Get too many kills too quickly and you hit the valor cap (It seems like 30 kills in a few minutes triggers it). Once hit, dying provides some relief from the valor gain cap per death, but not too many (seems like 5 or so). They did this to prevent farming and it...sort of works. Most people on my server let themselves get killed after pushing the other faction out of a base to reset their valor gain cap. This gives something back to the other team and incentivizes them to stay longer, even if they're losing badly. Some, less charitable, players will just /stuck every time it's available to bring the valor gain cap back to 30 kills and keep it there with repeated uses of /stuck once the cooldown resets. But that's the only way to work around it while still 'farming'. Otherwise, you have to wait quite a while to let the valor gain cap go away on its own. EDIT: On another note, I do think we have to consider what we're complaining about here. It's a little annoying yes, but I was able to do the weekly on three of my 50s yesterday within the span of four hours of on and off play. How could that possibly be working as intended? Three weeklies in a day? The valor gain cap came up often enough, but I and others got around it. I really think Bioware meant for people to kill at a far slower pace on Ilum than what's currently possible.
  17. He has the same avatar, but you're talking to someone else.
  18. Assuming this is true (and I have plenty of reason to doubt you), why didn't you reference that first instead of referring to the vague patch note? Also, you don't know what trolling means.
  19. Uh...it doesn't say how you build credit by playing warzones. You've proved nothing. Wow, I hope you feel bad about that.
  20. Basically what the above topic says. I enjoy playing the marauder, I enjoy rocking warzones and all the kills, caster shut-downs and highly important ops buffs that come with it. But I would like to receive more medals in warzones. Having a 50 Powertech tank and DPS Sorcerer as alts, I'm a little disappointed that the others can acquire warzone commendations far more quickly and reliably than marauders without full champ or battlemaster. So, using the popular Annihilation specs, is this achievable? I think we're an incredibly effective class, but I'm having some difficulty finding ways to get more out of the build during warzones. During a good match, I'll get around 220k ish total damage and maybe 25-30k heals. A far cry from the many posts on these boards touting 500k dmg done and 100k heals. 5-6 medals a match is respectable...but I miss the 10 or more that would come with my alts. I appreciate any insight offered.
  21. I really think the worst offense and something I find a lot of difficulty restraining myself from personally raging is when this happens... Round starts, everyone's in. Me: Okay, let's do this...(general strategy) Few people: (general agreement) Me: [Leader], mind marking healers? Ops Lead: Call them out to me. As if he's blind to the green symbols, the cast bars and the fact that healers will always hide in the same spots 99% of the time. It takes virtually seconds of being moderately aware of your peripheral vision to notice a healer and it would be far faster to just notice and mark them than it would be to hope other players notice, have the time to type out their name exactly in the middle of the fight and then hope the lead notices only to still end up searching for them on his own before marking. There's no justification for it.
  22. You're forgetting the time it takes to reach Battlemaster rank and using those bags once you hit 60. If you're able to see strong combat in Ilum, that takes roughly two weeks with occasional warzone queues. After that, acquiring champion gear is effortless. My newest level 50 was there for a week before full centurion and two champion pieces. He's now valor rank 52 and has four champion pieces with another on the way today. If I didn't have other characters to play, he'd be decked out by the third week, tops. Your math is failing to consider far too many considerations. The grind for champion gear practically nonexistent.
  23. Does no one read Gabe's Q and A's? Some bullet points: - Bags and the emphasis on win requirements will be removed in 1.2. - 14 additional objective based medals will be added to the warzones to facilitate team-based play. - Gear will be directly purchased from now on at all levels. The value of commendations has been increased. - A votekick system for idlers will be implemented, requiring 6 votes out of the 8 players present in the warzone. A two minute warzone debuff timer preventing that player from requeuing will be placed on the offending player. See more here: http://www.swtor.com/blog/community-qa-feb-17th-2012 Expected release date: March. So yes, the OP had a point. More so for Battlemasters, but even for those beneath that level, if you still had your dailies and weeklies to finish, leaving a warzone and trying to join another one was the equivalent of saving you three hours of gametime for every bag the quest rewards provided. It was unquestionably and undeniably the fastest and most efficient method of gearing up. If a player doesn't feel like wasting their time when better means at improving their character are available to them, I don't really see the problem. Bioware made the mistake of designing it that way and thankfully they've acknowledged their mistake and are working to correct it. I'm quite confident that placing all the emphasis on commendations, objectives and medals will ensure that very few people leave warzones early. After all, they'll only be hurting themselves in the new system.
  24. I play a purely PvE specced Shield Tech Powertech (out of laziness preventing me from respeccing for PvP) and this is an example of an average game: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d89/someone1074/Kou-CivilWar2-17-12.jpg Even though very little damage is mitigated by our shield chance, we're still pretty beefy classes and can definitely make a difference in a warzone. I can't even imagine how much more efficient I'd be if I went Iron Fist or any of the other PvP shield tech hybrids out there.
  25. Wonder when he'll realize the topic title was asking a question and not making a statement.
