  1. you mean that really long poorly thought out podrace that had absolutely nothing to do with the story and all to do with killing time with random spectacle. you can literally remove that entire sequence and it doesnt change the movie in the slightest. also, while i never once stated that racing wasnt present, the entire series has NEVER been about that. whether its podracing, swoop bikes, or other forms. sure, except thats not what is generally meant by it. even making them assumption that it IS something we get you would be kidding yourself to think it wont be much different than say space combat, which is complained about constantly. again, except that whole part where "a great many others" isnt focused on racing, but space flight, and sabaak/dejarik/pazaak, arena droid fighting, mario kart, fps, full fledged flight sim, etc etc. its not only extremely diverse, but also waters the game down into nothing while doing not only nothing original or innovative, but flat distorts what the game was designed and marketed as. the fact that it has the name "star wars" on it seems to mean that it should have ties, or parts of every star wars franchise or game type tied up within it, which is not only foolish, but insane.
  2. wait, you mean all of those mods/enhancements/armoring that are boe, and generally will fetch much more per com than those artifact cases?!
  3. thats not exactly true. no matter how "random" its still quantifiable and can be measured, therefore compared. there is a fine line between complex, and complicated. we like complex, intriguing, engaging fights that actually mean something. something that we can get in and sink our teeth into that isnt entirely ignorable with gear, or purely gimick either. look at what is often considered the pinnacle of modern raiding, not all of the bosses were super hard, or even took a super long time to kill (though many of them are on the longest lived boss list) but they are all unique, fun, difficult usually without being annoyingly so. @op i get what you are saying, and contrary to what moon and heaven stated, very much doable, probably even now, without a super amount of work on the devs part. the problem is very few actually want to play that game. every foray into something along the lines of what you are talking about (take any of the choose your own adventure type games/movies) fall flat on their faces. not saying that their isnt an audience for it, there is, its just very small. just like the players here who maintain that there should be open space sim like flight, when if you ask any major developer they will tell you that genre is dead (much to my disappointment). even the very base comparisons between say your typical bioware game vs a typical bethesda game (crafted story vs open sandbox world) you see a ton of repeat play for things like kotor, and mass effect, where even going against something like oblivion has massive drop off rates for replays (outdside of the mod community) after its first month.
  4. yeah because star wars is really all about racing right? i would rather they maintain the focus that they advertised for than to see it branch out into 15 different game types like you, and a great many others suggest. i mean for racing alone there were some that didnt want traditional racing at all but something more akin to mario cart. there is a reason i dont play wow anymore, because it became a very different game than the one i started playing, i would rather that didnt happen here just because the current gen of gamers wants to play a brand new game every 6 months.
  5. i will agree that the large amount of armormech gear is fairly unappealing aesthetic wise, but then that also falls into the same realm as most of the no force user armor in the game anyway. the sets with the giant pipes or weird helms just really doesnt fit for me, and most others going by general preference. couple that with how much more expensive it is to craft in comparison to the synthweaving gear for the majority i can understand part of the armormech complaint. that being said, you are flat wrong in terms of itemization being outgeared before tionese. especially the nicer blue patterns, re to t2 is on par, with columi. you can easily walk into hm/nm in all crafted gear and beat every dps check assuming you are specced and playing correctly. optimally itemized pieces are really hard to beat, and cant be easily beaten outside of a perfectly modded columi piece, which takes much longer, and far more drops. not really no. while you will lose money on some, assuming you calculate correctly you will overall make a much larger profit. its all about margin. its the very same principle i have used to make my 4.9m credits in pure net (as in after paying off the overhead) since 1.2 has gone live. with my 5007 crafts, 894 crits, im willing to say i have a sufficient enough sample size to say its a working system.
  6. but this game was never advertised this way. your preconceived notion of "what makes a great mmo" is also flawed. what i remember ARE the epic bossfights, and the pulls gone wrong that we managed to pull out, and the awe inspiring "danger" feeling of actual hard content, which some of these swtor doesnt have either, but then im not trying to change the game from what it was advertised as. im sorry this isnt the game you expected, nor wanted, but next time hopefully you will do a bit more research so you know what you will be getting instead of endlessly begging to get the game changed to fit you.
  7. or we can leave the racing games where they belong and not stuff them into this setting.
  8. i understand what you are saying, but i disagree. i personally cant stand both the anointed zeyd-cloth set (especially the helm) and warrior pulsing sets. in fact, pretty much all of the sets with the triangle fin thing on the back look like utter garbage imho. however i have received 5 requests for the zeyd cloth, and 4 for the warrior pulsing, and im not on a high pop server. that alone tells me that some people like them. so while you and i dont, or even the majority done, some one does enough that they sought me out to crit craft the sets for them. @heaven. the crit craft is actually really simple, multiply mats by your avg crit chance (im coming in at just about 1 in 6, 17.86% to be precise, but you can use the basic crit chances that bioware gave us if you would rather) and calculate that way. i generally just control the market high enough that i can charge enough to more than cover my losses. some sets i make more margin on than others, but it all evens out to such an extent that i have more credits than i really know what to do with, other than control the gtn.
  9. if you are going to handicap yourself by being a clicker in the first place, atleast be good at clicking.
  10. you mean outside of that little issue where the game was unplayable due to lag while they were enabled right? coding isnt just flipping a switch, by now they probably have a pretty good idea why its causing the lag, but actually working through the fix, without breaking a million other things takes time.
  11. actually, i will change my stance on this after actually running the numbers. if you look merely at weapon ranges (what i was doing) you get (at 108 rating) lightsaber: 209-314 pistol : 183-340 rifle: 209-314 doubleblade 257-377 sniper: 283-346 the gulf looks large, especially from a balance stand point. however when you calculate avg weapon damage lightsaber 261.5 pistol 261.5 rifle 261.5 doubleblade 314 sniper 314.5 so unless attack scaling is based upon the weapon itself, replacing a pistol with a rifle, and vice versa is possible. so power tech and operative would be switched, animation depending. however, that doesnt solve the class identity issue. i know that during beta bh was able to use blaster rifles for a time, and it was taken away. for what reason i dont know, and am too lazy to look for. if someone can find, and answer that argument with logic, you may have an actual chance of making this change.
  12. they have stated that there will be paid transfers, however what form that will take, be it legacy, specific characters, all of your characters etc has not be released, atleast not anywhere i have seen.
  13. except there was an actual mechanic difference in wow. bioware took that out to prevent this kind of problem. besides that attempting to say that character, or even story, meant anything even close to the same thing in wow as it does here is insulting. exactly, which is why made up numbers is an incredibly poor argument. i would be willing to say that diluting the actual character by allowing this change would limit the game for me, and for the playerbase though. allowing that kind of freedom to change, essential on whim, means you can change characters on whim, which isnt ok. you should feel something when making decisions with your toon. it should be important, not just hmm, i wanna be a twilek this week, and a human next, and a zabrak the week after that.
  14. i have, and its pretty even across the board. but then i also dont list all of them at the same price point, either because of competition, or because some of them i dont personally care for. attempting to state across the board that some are "cool" and some are not is pretty foolish though. beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. thats inaccurate also. there are a number of non moddable lightsabers, not as many as guns, but then guns also have a much higher number and variety. if you actually break it down percentage wise there are far more moddable guns than there are lightsabers. especially when you take into account what role they were originally designed to take. first, he isnt my buddy, we happen to disagree on a number of things. second, after a re read it appears i did misinterpret what you were saying, i aplogize. as heaven stated there was a system in place similar to what you stated, where most things were moddable, but didnt level with you. in response bioware created the orange shell where the gear, and therefore look, could actually level with you. it sounded very much to me that you were referencing that system, or one very much like it. sort of. going up to purple, especially for rare drop patterns to t2 level, is bis for that particular level. orange items however are easier. its like that all while leveling, with it only losing sight at endgame, where even then they are generally columi level, and close/better than rakata when correctly auged. while i know its hard to sell them, its mostly due to players ignorance. the vast majority dont understand how dr works, or really how stats work in general. they all think that stacking main stat is the absolute priority (which is also, sorta true, but it depends on your other stats, how far you are from caps, the amount of power on the item etc etc). orange gear is just flat easier, and gives you enough control over your stats, in addition to very easy content, thats its more than "good enough". personally i would rather see all of the set items removed and just to go to a completely orange based gear system with op bosses dropping mods/enhancements/crafting mats and tokens merely unlocking shells.
  15. except the problem lies entirely with you, and not the game. you made a poor decision and now want bioware to expend effort to fix it for you, when you have all of the tools at your disposal to fix it. besides, even in this statement you nullify a fair bit of what bioware has already done for race unlocks. you want it to be a one time thing where the existing unlocks are for all characters.
  16. yeah bioware, we dont want to think about crafting at all. that whole management thing, with mats and stuff, we dont want that either. everything should be completely modular and only take one type of crafting material! cause that whole management of inventory and recipes, and stats, its all too hard.
  17. you mean besides the whole issue of how all guns are not created equal. the game is tuned damage wise very tightly, even the "minor" differences between weapon types would force bioware to go in and retune all of the damage statistics.
  18. care to tell me what is "cool"? i know i have had a much better spread selling orange armor (i have all but 5 recipes now between synthweaving and armormech, including both empire and republic) and while there are some that sell better, all of them have sold at a fairly stable rate. enough that i actually have to spend time farming on planets in addition to missions to keep 1-2 of each stocked on the gtn, not to mention the specific buy orders i get. you are actually very wrong with lightsabers too, besides the very different tonal changes, hilt does matter, atleast to me. i feel as strongly about the hilts on my sorc and jugg as i do about the guns on my sniper, commando, and mercenary. so you want all weapons to be orange? i know its the barrel mod that scales orange weapons, however the very fact that they are orange is what allows them to scale, not the mods placed within. what your original premise stated was merely changing the stats within the weapons themselves. with all of that being said, bioware has already stated that they are working towards making all skins available in an orange format (most of them already are, even if they are not currently craftable) and with the upcoming changes to augs and such there is no real reason for this.
  19. you are correct, its not all about endgame, but pretty much all of those can be broken down into how much damage it will lead to, assuming you are playing correctly, and makes it do different from how it is now. movement speed is a great example since in any fight that has x amount of movement each % leads to y damage just from time saving, not to mention the actual utility of avoiding mechanics faster. some things, like evergy regen, would be an insane dps increase. besides that it would make things MUCH harder to balance, it would be very confusing for the casual gamer.
  20. except if your dream was to make a twi lek jugg, then why did you level a different race? i want a mon cal consular, so instead of leveling something else, im waiting until mon cals are available.
  21. i have to disagree that race doesnt matter, especially between human and alien. on taris and belsavis specifically, or pretty much any time you deal with a very high ranking sith/military npc, you get some pretty different dialogue options between human and zabrak atleast. you may be able to attribute the differences between ls/ds but it didnt feel that way. considering that race in mechanical terms has no actual effect on combat/crafting etc i see no reason to include race change. its pretty character breaking actually, unless you lack the creativity to make a non modular character.
  22. weapons would be pointless as the actual dps/weapon range matters much more than the actual stats on them. armor however, you do get more longevity this way, but its pretty much just as expensive as making orange gear, so i dont really see the point.
  23. except that part where its not possible. atleast not without a ton of homogenization between classes. you cant create bosses, or mechanics, even with companions, that many specs wont have a very large advantage over others. between the differing amounts of things like heals, dps, cc etc there are only so many different ways to handle it, also, the actual rewards couldnt be anywhere near as good, otherwise everyone would solo to columi as an example.
  24. well if you would have actually read the thread i explained how getting a title actually plays in to the story through noting that you gained something of prestige. its an additional perk to show you had progressed through the story to a point that showed you had completed it. and yes, no everyone completes their story. i know of a few sith who still havent unlocked their darth yet that have been 50 for awhile >.> that would be a poor judgement on your part since im currently legacy 42. hopefully i will find the time before gw2 goes live to get there, but with the tsw beta weekends starting i dont think i will quite make it. also, while you may not like my reasoning, i have stated, rather clearly, why its not something of note. aslong as you play the game, you will get there eventually. you dont need to do anything but keep playing. you dont need to finish your story, you dont even need to get to 50 ever, it will be reached, by everyone, aslong as they continue to play. all it shows is that you have played a ton, not that you have beaten anything, or completed anything, merely killed boars for hours on end as heaven and i sidetracked the thread into, which i feel shouldnt be rewarded.
  25. because you are not only getting speed for that price, but also additional protection from being knocked off. also, while the actual price of the speeder was increased (money sink) the cost of the licenses was decreased, over all it was actually about a 5% cost reduction. plus you also got the bonus of cybertech speeders being made boe, and craftable for much less than the current price of speeders (a little cheaper than what they were at before, server depending) which actually increased the profitability of cybertech and kept the over all price cheaper while funneling excess money out of the economy. this was a very well handled change by bioware.
