  1. Ok for starters, in my opinion you are correct in that watchman is probably the best/most forgiving spec to use whilst levelling. The basics are: Use Zealous Strike, Leap and Strike to build focus. Use Overload Sabre, Cautarise, Slash (before 40) and Merciless (after 40) to spend it. In addition to that, you will to learn and use your defensive abilities: Rebuke, Sabre Ward, Guarded by the Force, Force Camo. Then there's your utility/extras: Kick, Stasis, Zen. In PvE only you should use Pommel Strike and Opportune strike. Sweep, leg slash or inflamed cautarise let you use them. There's tons of other stuff, but those are the basic things that are used all the time and should be second nature.
  2. I'm not trying to be offensive, or an elitist jerk. But out of all the classes in this game, I'd say sentinel responds the worst to button mashing. To get the most out of it, or even perform ok on them requires you to use all your skills (and there are a lot), at the right times. You cannot simply bind 2-3 skills then go to town. You will find PvE hard, and PvP extremely frustrating..
  3. I'm not saying you should always use it, or use it a lot. But ignoring it completely is just bad. There has been many occasions, where I have had my closers on cool down. Leap, camo and valourous call on CD, with not enough centering for trans. I have been CC'd and my target has got out of range. It happens now and then. Blade storm can be very good for putting someone in dispatch range. Storm - dispatch - dead. Getting people dead is more important than focus efficiency. If I am focus dead and my target is dead, then I count that as fine. Don't get me wrong, if I have ANY other options I will use them. But for those times when you do not, not using blade storm if you can is gimping yourself.
  4. It's true tho. Combat is slightly subpar at the moment. But it would take very little to bring it right up to the very best, and would be very very easy to make it over powered. Imo the following would do it nicely: Your improved precision strike change is a good idea. Increase the base damage of blade rush very slightly. Something like 100 or so extra damage would do nicely.
  5. Lol... I shall have to remember that quote. However to be fair, ******* are an internet wide epidemic. Wow simply causes it to be more noticeable due to a large population
  6. You get valorous call at level 50. However that talent is still awesome before that due to the vastly improved generation of centering. Imo the most important aspect of that talent. The reduced CD on valorous call is simply a nice side effect.
  7. Someone out of 4m range with leap on CD and a decent amount of focus...
  8. Watchman sentinel destroys juggs 1v1...
  9. This is all about practise, and retuning your muscle memory. I made the transition, and yes for the first week or so I was messing up a lot. Yes you do need to stretch your pinky further, but it's not uncomfortable, or too much of a stretch. But now that I am used to it I find the opposite true. For example when I go and play say battlefield 3 I constantly put my fingers on the wrong keys...
  10. It is true, or in roughly that region. You can see the effect if you plot graphs. But your point that DR ONLY happens to crit (and surge) from points is right. It does NOT effect crit and crit damage obtained from talents and set bonuses. So "if" you capped your crit (assuming the 50% cap is right), as watchman you're burns would effectively have 65% crit chance with full Juyo stacks. Similarly with surge, the cap now seems to be roughly an extra 50%. Making 100% total, which is in fact 130% including various talents. Like your burns in watchman, or your blade rush/storm, ataru in combat.
  11. Since it's all additive it's not like your mainhand "scales with strength" either... Seriously.. Your damage is based off: Mainhand base + bonus damage + (0.3 to 0.66)x Offhand base. What you are asking for is: (Mainhand + bonus damage) + (Offand(multiplier) + bonus damage) It's obvious to see how that would get rediculously out of control. We'd basically be getting around 1.3-1.66 multiplier on our strength/power. And as that scaled it would end up insanely over powered.
  12. I am a religious keybinder. When I first started playing these style of games I was used to first person shooters, so immediately keybound everything. However I used to use WASD, but due to the sheer number of abilities on the sentinel I had to move to SFED. I took a long time for my muscle memory to adapt, but it was well worth the effort. Most of my friends that play click to a certain extent. And to be fair they do ok. I think the key to doing it decently is kind of hybridise.. Meaning they keybind some things, and click others. More importantly they still manage to mouse turn, and click abilities. No one will ever convince me that turning using the keyboard is anything other than fail. It literally takes forever, which is terribad in PvP and PvE.
  13. This bit here^^^^^, is made untrue by theses bits here: vvvv The harrowers were hard but I and many others managed them fine. Most elites are kind of easy unless there's more than one.... I levelled 100% solo and never got stuck on anything longer than a wipe or two. Three absolute max. I am no where near a great player either. Seriously dude, maybe you should try a commando or something...
  14. I always go on healers as a matter of priority. I learn their names, and invent little pet names for them. I learn to recognise what they look like, so I can easily spot and swap to them. I'm pretty sure they learn to recognise me as well. Well geared healers take a while to go down, but unless they have help (cross heals or guards) then they WILL go down. Sooner or later. Even if it takes ages to kill them, if you are on them they are not healing at maximum output, or any where near it. And they are usually concentrating on staying alive too much to be able to help out their team mates. Either way it's a win win situation. I do not do it to "maximise" my damage. I do it to stop them healing so we win.
  15. I used T7 then Doc. Kira doesn't suit my play style and to be honest she annoys me.. The whole passive aggressive thing. "Glad to finally have something useful to do", and "Eat lightsabre jerk" always sounds like "Lightside jerk"... If thats you attitude, you can sod off back to daddy! Oh wait I smashed him and teabagged his corpse... You can just go treasure hunting then.
  16. Mods have one secondary stat on. Generally power or crit. I tend to go for the str, end + power ones. Enhancements have two secondary stats on them. Ideally I would go with power and crit, but for some reason these do not seem to exist... So your choices are: Accuracy + Power Crit + Surge Power + Surge.
  17. Aye sorry to say there's very few things you never use. speaking as a watchman then I dont tend to use riposte or blade storm. But they are both hotkeyed as sometimes I will use them. And yes, even as watchman you will still use strike on occasion to build focus. There's some things I only tend to use in pvp: crippling throw, leg slash. And some I can only use in pve: pommel, opportune etc. I am also sorry to say it will only get worse as you go up. You will need to find space for: Merciless, force camo, awe, guarded by the force, inspiration, transcendance, valorous call, dispatch... All of which are awesome abilities you will need to use, in addition to almost everything you already have. The only way to cope with it, is to rebind a lot of your keyboard and then practise, practise, practise. There's also the fact that the way each tree plays, builds focus and spends focus is completely different. I tried combat again last night after a long time as watchman and found it really hard. And that was just pve, not pvp where it's even more important not to spend all your time looking at your focus bar and ability cooldowns.
  18. I had issues with this in Esseles hardmode the other day. The last boss has purple circles on the floor that you must get out of or be one shotted or nearly so. I failed due to being stuck to the floor by master strike... It was fairly embaressing..
  19. Ok for starters, the early level 30s are probably the toughest times for sentinels. It was for me at least and for many others that I've read about. Secondly. Never split points across trees until you have got the last talent in one. So every point should go into watchman until level 40. Sentinel isn't kind on hybridisation. Lastly, it's good form to get used to key binding. The more skills you can quickly spam with your keyboard the better. Speaking personally I hardly ever click anything at all. Admittedly the sentinel has a ton of skills to keybind and fitting them all in can be tricky. At around level 30 ish I completely redid how I play. I moved my movement keys to: E, D, S, F. And then I rebound a bunch of my action bars to: R, T, G, V, W, Q, A. I also made a lot of shift modifiers. So: Shift+1-7 and Shift+(R, T, G, V, W, Q, A). It takes quite a while to get used to, but it should make your play better once you do. And yes the cost to respec resets every week. It doesn't tell you it's reset untill after it's done it. So it will say: "It will cost you X to respec", you say Ok. And then it will tell you it's reset and cost you nothing.
  20. Fair play that spec is terribad... At some point I would like to try out this: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrorZ0MZGr0rkM.1 I call it the road runner. Not overly viable, just comedy value for being in almost permanent boosted trans...
  21. Yeah I have, except I took singularity instead of focused persuit. Wasn't terrible, but was kind of lacklustre. You know the best thing is to try it out. The cost to respec resets every week. I often use the opportunity to try something new.
  22. Firstly watchman burst is pretty insane... Full dots, zen and merc deliver a ton of damage over not very much time at all. Secondly you do not need to be a "pro pvper" to have an idea about enemy abilities... You should have learnt a lot of them from gold NPCs whilst levelling if nothing else. For example it's alays better to interupt a heal or crushing darkness than lightning..
  23. I know for a fact that each use of cyclone applies one stack of overload.
  24. I run away all the time. Usually when all my other cooldowns are blown. I always use rebuke when I get damaged. I usually use sabre ward around 50% hp or so. At 10-20% I'll use guarded/medpack. If after all that I'm still going to die soon, and there is nothing urgent to do (like stop that vital cap or whatever), I will quite happily camo/trans off. Either try to make it to a heal pick up, or a friendly healer. Sometimes you can get out of combat and use out of combat healing. Or I'll use that extra time to go back in on a suicide charge. If you gain an extra 20-30s or so of time before your enemy caps, that can quite often be enough time for the cavalry to arrive. Sure there's a good chance you'll die, but defending a turret you have, is WAY better than trying to take one. Even just giving a healer an extra 5-10 or so seconds can mean the difference between a death/lose and you rofl stomping. Take for example, going for the left turret in alderaan. You are alone as per usual as everyone else mindless zergs middle. A whole ton of enemy come at you. You pop all your def CDs, last maybe 10s. Camo/trans, run around the back of the turret. Wait 5s or so, quickly run around, leap, sweep, awe - drop dead. Yes you died, but you should have kept the turret out of their hands long enough. Unless your team suck but there's no helping that.
  25. In my opinion, no matter what spec you are you cannot have too much focus or centering. So I choose the talents to boost them. Namely burning focus + 1 point into jedi crusader and focused leap. And valour + defensive forms. More focus = more skills = more DPS. You don't have to worry about finding the extra focus for things like kick, leg slash and dispatch. You should be able to pop them on CD if required without adversely effecting your main abilities. More centering = more zen = more DPS and healing. With valour and defensive forms you can almost spam zen. You can leap into a fight in PvP. Provided your target is not stood out in the open. If you put yourself between them and a solid object their knockback is moot. And there are a lot of examples that can be used. Alderaan: The turrets themselves make a great stopper. Also the back walls on the left/right. NEVER place yourself where the knock back will send you over the edge of the platform.. Voidstar: The pillars near the doors and the doors themselves are great stoppers. Huttball: This place is the worst for us really. But there are actually quite a few posts that can be used. Even the fire pit posts work. In worse case scenario an upwards ramp reduces the distance travelled a lot. Always always watch where you are in relation to people in this place. Think about here you will fly if a knock back is used at any point. Little boxes/cover walls dont work, but some of the big ones do.
